Is there any way to set a calendar event in MS Outlook from Oracle Forms
I need to set and delete events in MS Outlook from an Oracle Form (version 10gR2).
Is there any way to accomplish this?
ThanksYou will need to use OLE on the client, which would further require the use of WebUtil. Here (below) are a couple of MS examples that you would need to convert to pl/sql. There are a variety of Oracle notes which discuss reading and writing to MS Word and Excel. These can likely be used as a starting place to talk to Outlook. There is a WebUtil demo which includes an example of how to write to MS Word. It can be found on the WebUtil home page:

Using Java Access bridge (Accessibility) with oracle forms 6.0 client
I'm trying to use JAB (java Access bridge ) to capture events in oracle forms 6.0 client .
I've a Jinitiator 1.1.8 and JRE version 1.4x
I've configured JAB as per the installation guide . However the events don't surface in Java Monkey .
Has anybody encountered similar issue ? what is the solution for the issue ??
Also on one of the forums I read Jinitiator 1.3x and above is automatically recognised by Java Access bridge .
For jinitiator version less than 1.3 manual configuration is required . however I haven;'t been able to find any on the oracle forms KB
Also here is the excerpt from the link http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/accessibility/faqs/index.html
Q: Are there special steps for using Java-based applications with assistive technology?
A: If the Oracle application is written in Java, such as JDeveloper or Oracle Forms (runtime), customers must first install the latest version of Sun's Java Access Bridge. The Java Access Bridge provides the integration with screen readers such as JAWS or SuperNova that support Java. You just download the Access Bridge and install it. Sun's AccessBridge 2.0x recognizes Oracle's JInitiator 1.3x and above so no manual configuration steps are necessary. The Access Bridge is available from: http://java.sun.com/products/accessbridge. At the time this document was written, Access Bridge 2.0.1 is the most current publicly available production release; Oracle recommends upgrading to this version. Sun's AccessBridge is bundled with Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) and can be found in the Java Runtime Engine (JRE). More information for configuring such products is in the respective product documentation, or on http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/accessibility/products/index.html.

Creating timer problem in oracle forms
Hello,
I am using oracle weblogic 10.3.5 with oracle forms 11g at windows 7.I am trying to make a trigger but getting frm 40738 argument 1 to builtin GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY cant be null error. I am using code at when-new-form-Instance trigger:
declare
timer_id TIMER;
one_second number:=1000;
st varchar2(100);
begin
timer_id :=find_timer('CLOCK_TIMER');
If not id_null(timer_id) then
delete_timer('timer_id');
else
timer_id := CREATE_TIMER('CLOCK_TIMER',one_second,REPEAT);
--timer_id:=create_timer('CLOCK_TIMER',one_second,repeat);
st:=Get_application_property(TIMER_NAME);
message(st);
end if;
select to_char(sysdate,'HH24:MI:SS') into :EVENTS.CURRENT_TIME from dual;
exception when others then
message(TO_CHAR(SQLCODE)||''||SQLERRM);
end;
and at When-Timer-Expired trigger:
declare
timer_name varchar2(30);
BEGIN
timer_name := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(TIMER_NAME);
IF timer_name = 'CLOCK_TIMER' THEN
SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'HH24:MI:SS')
INTO :EVENTS.CURRENT_TIME
FROM DUAL;
END IF;
EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN
MESSAGE(TO_CHAR(SQLCODE)||''||SQLERRM);
END;
Thank You
regards
aaditya.The problem is that you have a local variable with the same name as the CONSTANT "TIMER_NAME". Therefore, your call to GET_APPLICATION_NAME is passing the value of your Local Variable to the built-in instead of the value of the CONSTANT 'TIMER_NAME."
declare
timer_name varchar2(30);
BEGIN
timer_name := GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(TIMER_NAME);
IF timer_name = 'CLOCK_TIMER' THEN
Change your code so your variable TIMER_NAME is unique (different) from the constant TIMER_NAME variable. A common programming standard prefix your variable names with the data time. Following this concept, rename your variable to V_TIMER_NAME.

Hi
We are using Oracle Forms 6i to develop Oracle Applications form extensions.
Wanted to know if we use JUnit in Oracle Forms for testing?
Thanks
RahulHi there
Thanks for the response.
I was thinking of Forms Data Loader to use as an option for unit testing in Oracle Forms since it does capture the events like button submit , but I dont think it does any verification of data like JUnit.
Please let me know what do you think of same.
Thanks

Import OLE methods in Oracle Forms 6i
Hi,
I am experiencing some problems to import OLE methods in Oracle
Forms 6i.
In Forms 6i, I select Program->Import OLE Library Interfaces
menu option. After the Import OLE Library Interfaces dialog box
appears, I can see the OLE Class that I would like to access
but none of its methods or events.
Why the methods and events do not appear?
Thanks in advance.If all you want to do is extract the documents from the Long Raw columns, you can use UTL_FILE to extract the binary content to the file system. You would have to loop through the records in your table to extract each file. Take a look at article Export BLOB Contents Using UTL_FILE that I googled. Granted, this article discusses exporting a BLOB not a Long Raw, but the concept is the same and you should be able to modify the code sample in the article to work with your Long Raw columns.
Hope this helps,
Craig B-)

DB Trigger firing issue in case of oracle forms session crash
Hi All,
Oracle DB version: Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.2.0 - Production
Oracle Forms version: (Oracle Developer Suite 10g) 10.1.2.0.2 Production
I am entering some data in the oracle forms and committed the data to database. This form is still open.
By some reasons i get a error as "FRM-92101: There is error during forms server startup" and the forms session gets crashed.
When this event happens i wanted to update the records which are inserted before this error occurred. For this purpose i created a BEFORE LOGOFF ON DATABASE trigger (in SYS user) and declared that transaction as autonomous and performed update and then commit.
But when i get this error in forms runtime session, this trigger doesn't fire and also the records don't get updated.
If i query to v$session view, the session entry is gone because the forms session is crashed.
Can anyone please tell me why this trigger don't get fire when oracle forms session gets crashed? Or is there is any other way to run update statement as soon as the forms session gets crashes?
Thanks.Hi,
please check java runtime console for more issue information.
Windows:
SystemControl->Java Plugin Ver XXXX -> Standard -> Check "Show Java Console"
In Systray, check the console for information about errors in java after the form error.

How to embed excel in java bean area on oracle forms 9i?
Hi,
I am trying to embed excel in oracle forms 9i using java bean. I want to open excel sheet in the bean area not as seprate application. Means i donot want to excel running separately from forms on the machine.
If any body knows the solution please reply.
Best regrads,
ShirazHi
Is it possible to create a java bean, with a click event which populates data from database table to an excel sheet.
The data(can be obtained in a string format with delimiters, but can anyone help me in exporting this into an excel sheet). and also to provide user to take prints of the data in the excel sheet.
If Print of the JTable could be done(by settin printable as this), but this involves unwanted buttons to be printed, and entire table is not available in the spread sheet format.
Thanks in Advance

Easiest to migrate MS Acess application to Oracle forms/reports
Hi,
I have one application in MS Acess I want to migrate it to Oracle forms 10g, is there any easy way to do this job starting from schema creation upto front end.
Thanks and Regards, Khawar.I had a access database solution, but no forms in it, so maybe that was different from yours.The solution I used was:
Made a button in an access form, and from that buttons event:
1: Queried all TableDefs of the database
2: Queried all Columns of each table
3: Made Create-scripts for those objects (of course substituted the datatypes to an oracle equalient)
4: Run those create scripts against the OraDB
That took approx ½-1 hour of coding, but it was faster than creating all the objects from scratch.
I saw some Non-free software that promised to do this for me, but I don't think any software can convert an Access form to an Oracle Form (if that's what you seek).
One I found at: http://www.hxtt.com/access2oracle.html (still I think it's only the tables you can migrate)

Writing an update statement in oracle forms 9i
Hi ,
I have a problem situation in which
I am fetching values from a cursor and a recod group into two data block items text box and combo box respectively .
Both the data is fetched from different tables .
Now based on the selection from combo box I have to update the selected value in another table by writing an update statemet .
I have created a button and on the trigger event of when button pressed I wrote a simple update statement but it's not working that way .
Kindly help me how to write manual update statements in oracle forms 9i
I can't used the update buil in of forms as I want to update in a table which is not mentioned in the property pallete of data block
please helpI just wrote a procedure
PROCEDURE update_current IS
BEGIN
update table abc set xculumn= :block_name.item_name2 where ycolumn = :block_name.item_name1 ;
commit;
and I called the procedure from a when button pressed trigger
it gave an error invalid identifier abc ( which is table name)
pls help
I am trying to do it with form_ddl(update_query)
but here I am facing another problem
I have update_query = 'update table abc set xculumn= ' || :block_name.item_name2 || 'where ycolumn = '||:block_name.item_name1
now since xculumn and y column are varchar type so I suppose while preparing the query I have to concatenate single quotes ( ' ) at the start and end
but i am facing problems in doing so
please tell me an alternative way or how to concatenate single quotes in the above update_query variable
