Oracle Forms Personalization - Menu Icon

Hello, hopefully a quick question. Looking at forms personalization and want to add a new menu item. I can achieve this using Forms Personalization no problem. My question is regarding the 'Icon Name' field for the Action Type of Menu. I understand that this is asking for a .ico file to display in the toolbar, however I'm not sure where to place this .ico file on the file system for it to be picked up? Any thoughts?
Thanks

Thanks.
Basically in the Forms Personalization Form for an Action Type of "Menu" there is a parameter called "Icon Name". According to the Forms Personalization documentation (279034.1) the definition for this field is:
"Icon Name: Specify an optional icon name that you want added to the Toolbar to achieve the same functionality as in the special pulldown menu entry"
I tried specifying one of the icons in the directory you mention below: afattach.gif (even tried just afattach) to see if that would render on the Toolbar, but no luck.
Any thoughts on what is required for this field?
Thanks

  • POST COMMIT FORM issue in Oracle Forms Personalization

    Hi All,
    I have following requirement in Oracle Forms Personalization :
    1. User updates a records( from the table xxtable) in the Form
    2. Following this, on saving the record, a stored procedure is called to pick those records which are updated/inserted and display. But its displaying still the old values, since commit has not occured.
    3. I have added new forms personalization using POST-DATABASE-COMMIT and POST-FORM-COMMIT. However, none of this trigger is firing.
    Used POST-UPDATE and POST-INSERT, but this trigger are not fetching the committed data but picking the old value.
    Please let me know, how this requirement can be achieved in Oracle forms personalization?
    Many Thanks in Advance.

    the difference in time is that you doing the following additional tasks in forms that you dont do in sqlplus:
    1. you are retrieving data into the fields of the form.
    2. creating the record.
    which is a network round-trip for each record. AFAIK.
    if its an option for you, I would create a global temporary table and then populate the temporary table with the required data. Then build a base table block based on the global temporary table. This way you can use the forms default functionality and its fast because you dont have to populate all the records on the form before you see the first record!

  • Oracle Form Personalization - Limit access to HR Lookup Table

    Need to pose this to the experts. I need to see if through a form personalization i can restrict access to certain lookup tables that a responsibility has access to. So responsibility 'XXHR' can only see and update lookup tables 'XXHR_A' and lookup table 'XXHR_B' and not be able to see or update any other table.
    Thanks in advance for your support

  • Set_lov_column_property through Oracle Forms Personalization does not work

    Oracle EBS 11.5.10
    I need to change the LOV column title in an existing form using Forms Personalization technique. I am using BuiltIn->Call Custom Library option to invoke set_lov_column_property in WHEN-NEW-FORMS-INSTANCE event. It is not changing the LOV column title. I have attempted to use Synchronize following set_lov_column_property action and it has no impact. I have not tried using CUSTOM.pll changes and I feel it may work. At our client site, we have used only Forms Personalization to implement extensions instead of CUSTOM.pll changes as a standard practice.
    Has anyone attempted this technique in Forms Personalization and know whether this works?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Gopal

    Hi Oleh,
    I was just returning to the thread to report that I'd found the issue (actually a colleague did) - and it is exactly what you said - the in-house documentation for the translations library says to add an ON-ERROR trigger to capture (and ignore) 41364, but whoever developed this form apparently forgot to perform this step.
    You still get the brownie points for the answer though =)
    Thanks for the help, my mind is more restful now because I was going nuts trying to find this!

  • Can i change the field position in a Form using Oracle Forms Personalization?

    In my form a field is appearing at the top of page.I want that field to appear at the bottom of page.Can i achieve this using Forms Personalization?

    Yes, you can.
    Action: Property
    Property Name(s): X_POS, Y_POS
    Value: If following standards you should specify X_POS in .01 increments and Y_POS in .25 increments.
    You can play around with help -> diagnostics -> properties -> item to interactively set the value for the X and Y position until you get it on the spot you want; once you have the right values set the personalization rule to set the property values accordingly.
    Beware that this is done for individual items, so if you need to make space and shift other items you'll have to set the properties for each one.

  • How to commit each record in Oracle Form Personalization

    Hi,
    how to commit each record with out using save button in form...my requirement is when cursor goes to next record it vil automatically stored in database please give me your valuable suggestion...
    Actual Requirement:
    here we need to give the locators(it is  number) whenever the cursor goes to next record it vil automatically incremented by 1(i wrote query for incremetation) and previous one vil be stored in database.
    Here i am using WHEN NEW ITEM INSTANCE IS USED Trigger..
    Thank You,
    Regards,
    Putta

    Hi,
    The commit should be done by the form, or whatever raises the business event.
    The API fires the event in the same transaction (unless the subscription is deferred), and then the commit is issued. This commits the transaction, and all actions of the event subscription.
    If the subscription is deferred, then the concurrent request which processes the subscription will issue the commit on completion.

  • Icons not displaying in oracle forms.

    Hi All,
    I am trying to display icons on Oracle forms 10g.I just brought over these forms from another system and I am trying to display the icons like next record, clear form etc..
    I have done the following steps so far. The icons are still not displaying. Appreciate any help.
    Created a folder in D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java called icons.
    Copied all gif files and jpeg files into icons. Then created a jar file.
    D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java>jar -cvf my_icons.jar icons
    It created the jar file in the same directory D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java
    Also changes were made to these files as shown below each file.
    forms.conf
    AliasMatch ^/forms/icons/(..*) "D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java\icons/$1"
    registry.dat
    default.icons.iconpath=http://servername:7778/forms/java/
    formweb.cfg
    # Forms applet parameter
    codebase=/forms/java
    # Forms applet parameter
    imageBase=codebase
    # Forms applet archive setting for JInitiator
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,frmmain.jar, frmjdapi.jar, my_icons.jar
    # Forms applet archive setting for other clients (Sun Java Plugin, Appletviewer, etc)
    archive=frmall.jar,frmmain.jar, frmjdapi.jar, my_icons.jar
    Also added this line under orion-web-app in orion-web.xml file.
         <virtual-directory virtual-path="/icons" real-path="D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java\icons" />
    Restarted the OC4J forms server after any change.

    To test your configuration, you can try building an URL:
    i.e.
    http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet/icons/iconname.gif
    Does it show the icon ?
    If that does not work, I would try re-generating the my_icons.jar file, but instead of going directly to the forms/java/icons folder, copy the icons folder to the root directory i.e. c:\icons and execute the command to jar the icons folder, then redeploy the my_icons.jar file.
    Then try again with the URL... if the URL does not work, you still have configuration issues.
    PS: Don't forget to clear the cache in your browser so that the new .jar files is loaded?
    Furthermore:
    ========
    Remove the changes made to the forms.conf and orion-web.xml, they are only needed if the icons are
    not stored in a .jar file.
    forms.conf
    AliasMatch ^/forms/icons/(..*) "D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java\icons/$1"
    orion-web.xml
    <virtual-directory virtual-path="/icons" real-path="D:\oracle\oracleas\forms\java\icons" />

  • PO Form Personalization affecting for False condition.

    Hello All,
      I have done with PO(Enter PO) form personalization to disable the Cancel functionality from tools Menu for 'Goods' Line Type.
    The condition am using  for personalization is  (:PO_LINES.LINE_TYPE= 'Goods') AND (:PO_HEADERS.DOC_TYPE_NAME = 'Standard Purchase Order')
    For True status showing one Error message " You Cant Cancel PO"
    Personalization is working fine for True Condition but for False condition the normal process has to happen means other than 'Goods' Line Type, User should able to Cancel PO.
    But whenever am trying to Cancel Po other than Goods line Type its not working, Cancel PO form is not opening at all.
    For this personalization I have followed the (Doc ID 1316584.1) Metalink document. I Also tried personalization with Trigger Special13 still same problem persisted.
    If anyone knows Please help.
    Thanks

  • Form Personalization: Calling custom form

    Hi Folks,
    I need to call a custom form from a seeded form using "Tools" menu and also need to pass parameter.
    Here I was able to achieve this using "SPECIAL 1" from personalization, but the problem here is I was not able to pass parameter from seeded form to my custom form. version of EBS is R12
    Would be vey greatful if someone could help me on same.
    Thanks,

    You can pass the parameter only if the called form accepts a parameter.
    If it does, you define a global variable and use it on the called form.
    The following link gives a great example of passing vendor_id.

  • Restrict Form Personalization only to selected Responsiblity.

    Hi All,
    Greetings.
    I want to restrict form personalization to only selected responsibilities.
    For example in Oracle Account Payables, we have Invoice Workbench form.
    This form is available in say 5 different responsibilities, Now we want to restrict the form personalization on this form to 2 out 5 responsibilities.
    Is there any way to achieve this? Currently the personalization 'Level' is 'Function'.
    We are on R12.1.3
    Regards,
    Sachin

    Hi Sachin,
    Yes it is possible. Enable the personalization on responsbility level which is located in "Condition" tab, hopefully this will achieve your need.

    i have created menus in oracle forms using menu editor,now i want to show the created menu in the form while running ,how can i show menu in the form,
    reply soon please

    save and compile your menu module.
    open the property sheet of the form to which you want to attach them menu,
    On the "Menu Module" property give the full path of the menu you want to attach.
    if the menu is in the same path where your forms modules are then just give the menu module name.

    Hi,
    You can define a Form Function filling the basic information and
    HTML call Set as OracleOasis.RunDiscoverer. You can even define Paramters during the form function registration. With this definition you will able to create a link to a Discoverer workbook that will automatically open Discoverer Plus or Viewer to display the workbook using Apps security.
    Please refer to the following Metalink Note for more details:
    278095.1- How to Create a Link to a Discoverer Workbook in Apps11i
