Oracle import query

Hi All,
Just a query,
Can I take export of oracle 9.2 db and import into 8.0.6 database. ? Currently I am getting
Connected to: Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.6.0.0 - Production
With the Partitioning and Objects options
PL/SQL Release 8.0.6.0.0 - Production
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 942 encountered
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
IMP-00023: Import views not installed, please notify your DBA
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
I have ran the script catexp.sql but no success.
Regards,

Try exporting from 9.2 using exp.exe version 8.0.6.
If the export succeeds you should be able to import the
resulting file into the 8.0.6 instance.
Not sure if this will work, but it may be worth trying.
Hope this helps.
Kailash.

  • Oracle Import and Export Utility

    Hello All,
    Could someone please explain me Oracle Import and Export Utility. I've gone through the below link and it has been mentioned to use keyword 'exp' but I'm not getting any idea where to use it. So kindly explain how the util works.

    Hello;
    Export creates a logical backup its great for move tables, schemas etc.
    Import bring that data back in.
    You can use a parm file with either.
    Import example :
    imp parfile=in.parm
    in.parm ( contains )
    userid=system/<password>
    fromuser=scott
    touser=scott
    file=in.dmp
    log=in.logemp parfile=out.parm
    out.parm ( contains )
    userid=system/<password>
    owner=scott
    file=out.dmp
    log=out.dmp
    statistics=noneYou can use these commands at the OS level to get quick help.
    imp help=y
    enp help=yYou can export a subset of a table :
    exp scott/t<password> tables=emp query="where deptno=20"You can use options like :
    full=y
    BUFFER=2000000
    GRANTS=y
    COMPRESS=yThis utility is being replaced by data pump.
    Best Regards

  • Oracle Text query: Escaping characters and specifying progression sequences

    How can I combine the escaping of a search string and the specification of progression sequences within an oracle text query
    so that in all cases the correct results are delivered (see example below)?
    The scenario in which to use this is the following:
    + Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0
    + Requirement: Hitlist of results ordered by score whereby the different part within
    the result list are specified using progression sequences within oracle text query
    Example:
    create table service_provider (
    id number,
    name_c varchar(100),
    uri_c varchar(255)
    insert into service_provider values (1,'ABB Company Mgmt','http://www.abb-company-mgmt.de');
    insert into service_provider values (2,'Dr. Abbas Ming','http://www.dr-abbas-ming.de');
    insert into service_provider values (3,'SABBATA United','http://www.sabbata-united.de');
    insert into service_provider values (4,'ABB','http://www.abb.de');
    insert into service_provider values (5,'AND Company Mgmt','http://www.and-company-mgmt.de');
    insert into service_provider values (6,'Dr. Andas Ming','http://www.dr-andas-ming.de');
    insert into service_provider values (7,'SANDATA United','http://www.sandata-united.de');
    insert into service_provider values (8,'AND','http://www.and.de');
    Query 1: works correctly in this case

    produces ORA-29902, ORA-20000, DRG-50901 because AND is a reserved word in oracle text

  • Converting Oracle XML Query Result in Java String by using XSU

    Hi,
    I have a problem by converting Oracle XML Query Result in Java

    Can somebody tell me a method() for converting to solve my

    Hmmm.. Pretty basic just look at the example:
    OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(conn,"Select max(ps.datum) from preise ps where match='"+args[0]+"'");
    String xmlString = qry.getXMLString();

  • Oracle text query

    Hi,
    I have a View object with various attributes (eg, name1, name2, name3, address1, address2, address3 etc). A query/table component based on this view object works just fine. However, I wish to replace name1, name2, name3 and other attributes in the query with just 'name'. These attributes are still to be shown in the result table. This new 'name' attribute will be used in an Oracle Text query clause, instead of individual searches on each attribute.
    My plan was to simply make the various name1, name2 etc attributes non-'queryable' in the View def to hide them from the query. Then I'd add a transient 'name' attribute. My hope was, that I could override the getWhereClause() in the ViewObjectImpl and simply tack on the oracle text clause to the WHERE (example below):
    WHERE CONTAINS (
    SOMECOLUMN,
                '<query>
       <textquery lang="ENGLISH" grammar="CONTEXT">TRANSIENT_ATTR_VALUE
    ..... Oracle Text query grammar stuff here ....  </query>') > 0How do I access the transient value in the ViewObjectImpl to add the above SQL? Or am I going about this in completely the wrong way?
    thanks,
    Barry.

    Based on what I found in
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/09-nov/o69frame.html?_template=/ocom/print

    136.     Introducing a Checkbox to Toggle a Custom SQL Predicate on an LOV's Search Form. [11.1.1.0.0] 19-NOV-2008
    I have the following implementation, which seems to work. Does anyone see any problems with this?
    With regard to SQL injection, does ViewCriteriaItem sanitise the 'val' from the query, or should I do that manually here myself?
        @Override
        public java.lang.String getCriteriaItemClause(ViewCriteriaItem vci) {
            if ("OraTextTransientAttrib".equals(vci.getAttributeDef().getName())) {
                if (vci.getViewCriteria().isCriteriaForQuery()) {
                    String val = (String)vci.getValue();
                    logger.debug("Doing oracle text name search on '" + val + "'");
                    // simplified version of my oracle text query
                    return "CONTAINS ('<query>..... " + val + "....</query>') > 0 ";
                } else {
                    // SQL predicate for no changes to the results
                    // spaces needed if you have several of these blocks
                    return " 1=1 ";
            // other blocks for other similar oracle text attribs
            return super.getCriteriaItemClause(vci);

  • Does oracle import datapump fix block corruption?

    Dear all,
    I am having a data block corruption on production. I want to export this DB and import it to a test environment using datapump, in order to do some tests on it.
    However I am concerned whether impdp will resolve this scenario... and therefore I will lose my test case...
    so will oracle import datapump fix block corruption?
    Thank you

    so will oracle import datapump fix block corruption?.No. It detects Logical corruption (corruption and the corrupted segment will not be exported or imported.
    Fix the issue by identifying the segment.
    Get the block information from your alert.log
    select segment_type,owner.segment_name
    from dba_extents
    where file_id = [&file_id] and [&block] between block_id and block_id+blocks -1; if it is index then drop and recreate index
    if it is table and you have backup of that table then restore backup on another database and exp/imp the table.

  • Suggestion regarding Oracle import & export utility

    hi
    I am navneet,I want to give some suggestion on Oracle import & export utility to Oracle Corporation. can u tell me where to send these suggestions
    regards

    It would seem to me that if they are enhancement requests, then the right way would be to file an enhancement request. If they are bugs, then file SRs so bugs can be entered.

  • Oracle 11G - Oracle AWR export import Query Statistics.

    I have Oracle 11G, i have seen the sql statements through Historical AWR option from Top Activites in performance tab. Can i export all AWR query statistics from production machine so that i can analyze all logs after importing it.
    How can i know all statistical sql ( information ) and performace of production machine ?
    any help ?

    Hello,
    have you checked the DBA_HIST* objects to see what / how was imported?
    If the awr export dosn't get the contents of the rolling buffer, then you won't see any session statistics that are only there. If you want to get the contents of the rolling buffer you have to dump the contents of it with :
    oradebug setmypid
    oradebug dump ashdump 10
    and load it into your "test" database.
    But before doing this I suggest you read the related metalink documentation if any!!!

  • Can you import local tables into Oracle to query in Discoverer?

    long time lurker, first time poster...
    I've got a local list in excel of over 100k records. I want to bounce this list off our network's data in Oracle to add a few fields to my file. Is there a way to import the local list into Oracle (like I might using MS Access) so that I can query the data using Discoverer, and output my local list with the additional data I pull out of Oracle? Thanks so much for any assistance!

    Hi,
    Create an external table in the database that points to the excel workbook then you will be able to query the excel workbook like any other table in Discoverer. You will need to create a database directory which points to the directory containing the excel workbook. You will also have to save the workbook in a csv format. But once that is set up you will be able to make changes in the excel workbook save them, then refresh the Discoverer workbook and immediately see the changed data in Discoverer.

  • Handling hierarchy in oracle sql query

    I have two tables:
    The first contains COMPANY_ID and CATEGORY_ID
    The second contains CATEGORY_ID and PARENT_CATEGORY_ID
    I need to return a list containing COMPANY_ID and CATEGORY_ID. The entries, however, must come not only from the first table, but also include all the descendants listed in the second table.
    So for example (and please read the example carefully) - let’s say in the first table I have one row:
    COMPANY_ID | CATEGORY_ID
    1000 | 1
    In the second table, I have three rows:
    CATEGORY_ID | PARENT_CATEGORY_ID
    1 | null
    2 | 1
    3 | 2
    4 | null
    I want to have the following rows as a result:
    COMPANY_ID | CATEGORY_ID
    1000 | 1
    1000 | 2
    1000 | 3
    How can I do this in oracle 10 in a single SQL statement ?

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
    Whenver you have a question, post your sample data in a form that people can use.
    CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements are great:
    CREATE TABLE  first
    (       company_id     NUMBER (4)
    ,     category_id     NUMBER (4)
    INSERT INTO first (company_id, category_id) VALUES (1000,   1);CREATE TABLE AS is good, too:
    CREATE TABLE  second
    AS
    SELECT     1 AS category_id, NULL AS parent_category_id     FROM dual     UNION ALL
    SELECT     2,               1                          FROM dual     UNION ALL
    SELECT     3,               2                          FROM dual     UNION ALL
    SELECT     4,               NULL                    FROM dual;Without that, people can't test their ideas, and are often unsure about your data.
    You should also say what version of Oracle you're using. That's especially important with CONNECT BY queries. Every version since Oracle 7 has had significant improvements in how to do CONNECT BY queries. The query below works in Oracle 10 (and up).
    For hierarchies and trees, use CONNECT BY
    When you have to join tables and use CONNECT BY, it's usually more efficient to do one in a sub-query, and the other in another query.
    In the example below, we're doing the CONNECT BY in sub-query cbq, and the join in the main query.
    WITH     cbq     AS
         SELECT     category_id
         ,     CONNECT_BY_ROOT category_id     AS root_category_id
         FROM     second
         START WITH     parent_category_id     IS NULL
               AND     category_id          IN ( SELECT  category_id          -- Maybe; see note below
                                             FROM    first
         CONNECT BY     parent_category_id     = PRIOR category_id
    SELECT  first.company_id
    ,     cbq.category_id
    FROM     first
    JOIN     cbq     ON     first.category_id     = cbq.root_category_id
    ;The 2nd condition in the START WITH clause won't change the results any; any rows that are excluded by that condition would also be excluded by the join condition. There can be a big differenece in performance, however. Try the query both ways, and use the 2nd condition if it helps.

    This is a perfectly valid way to query the data. Here's an example on my own production tables. This one has about 300 million rows:

  • Oracle 9i query in Oracle 8 (Running Total)

    Please tell me the alternate SQL for Oracle 8 against this query which is written in Oracle 9i:
    SELECT empid,empname,empgpay,sum(empgpay) over (order by empid) AS runningtotal
    FROM employee;

    There is not a sql structure in Oracle8i to do that directly in SQL Statement. You have to create a program unit to carry out it.
