I'm looking for a place to download an Oracle JDBC driver for Linux. I have installed Oracle 8.1.5 for Linux, but don't find the driver either in the installation, nor on the CD. Can anyone point me to someplace I might be able to find it?
Also, generic help in setting this up to work, JDBC API calls would also be of great help.

1) You need classes111.zip usually located at
$ORACLE_HONE/jdbc/lib.
2) Add classes111.zip to CLASSPATH and export
3) If you use thin driver your code should look like:
Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
// Connect to the database
// You must put a database name after the @ sign in the
connection URL.
// You can use either the fully specified SQL*net syntax or
a short cut
// syntax as <host>:<port>:<sid>. The example uses the
short cut syntax.
Connection conn =
DriverManager.getConnection
(jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:port:ORACLE_SID,
USER_NAME, PASSWOED);

Bad support for ts hint in Oracle jdbc driver (for preparedStatement)
hi
I have the following SQL
SELECT TRUNC({ ts '2004-01-01 00:00:00.0' }) FROM ET1_ELEMENT
With the jdbc.odbc driver the following meta data is returned:
ResultSet meta data are...
Column [1]
name [TRUNC(TO_DATE('2004-01-0100:00]
type [93]
class name [java.sql.Timestamp]
which is fine.
Nevertheless with Oracle thin driver I got an SQL exception:
The SQL Error is:
ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got TIMESTAMP
internal exception:
(class java.sql.SQLException):
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got TIMESTAMP
If I use the TO_DATE in the sentence (e.g. t_date('2004-01-01 00:00:00','YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')) everything is fine on both driver.
Any idea on the problem? Is it a bug?
ThanksMikael,
I couldn't ascertain your environment from your post, so the below may be irrelevant for you. But in the hope that is isn't...
I tried your example on an Oracle 9i (9.2.0.4) database on SUN [sparc] Solaris 9, with J2SE 1.4.2_04 and the "ojdbc14.jar" [JDBC] driver. If I remove the "trunc" function, then I do not get an Oracle error. I must admit, though, that I don't understand why you need to trunc(ate) a literal value. All that the "trunc" function does is set the time part -- the hours, minutes, seconds, etc. -- of your timestamp to (all) zeroes -- which is what you have in your literal, anyway, so why the need for "trunc"?
I believe the Oracle JDBC driver converts the java sql-escape syntax -- "{ts '2004-01-01 00:00:00.0'}" -- to a call to the "to_date" function, anyway. Possibly one way to verify this would be to use P6 Spy. If I am correct, then it would only be logical that Oracle allows you to use the sql-escape syntax wherever it is all right to use the "to_date" function. But then again, I guess that
select trunc(to_date('2004-01-01 00:00','YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI')
from ET1_ELEMENTis allowable syntax anyway. So I guess maybe that this may be a bug in the JDBC driver. Have you checked the MetaLink Web site?
Good Luck,

Oracle native API for AQ - Null pointer exception
Hi
I am trying to enqueue a message to AQ adapter through the java native api. But i am getting a null pointer exception.
import java.sql.*;
import oracle.AQ.*;
Connection db_conn;
AQSession aq_sess = null;
AQQueueTable q_table = null;
AQQueue queue = null;
AQMessage message ;
byte[] b_array ;
try{
String test_data = "hello";
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
db_conn =
DriverManager.getConnection(
"jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:SOABRM",
"soabrm", "password");
System.out.println("JDBC Connection opened ");
db_conn.setAutoCommit(false);
Class.forName("oracle.AQ.AQOracleDriver");
aq_sess = AQDriverManager.createAQSession(db_conn);
System.out.println("Successfully created AQSession ");
q_table = aq_sess.getQueueTable ("soabrm", "AQ_Test");
queue = aq_sess.getQueue ("soabrm", "AQ_Queue_Test");
message = queue.createMessage();
b_array = test_data.getBytes();
AQRawPayload raw_payload = message.getRawPayload();
AQEnqueueOption enq_option = new AQEnqueueOption();
raw_payload.setStream(b_array,b_array.length); */* Erroring out at this statement*/*
message.setRawPayload(raw_payload);
queue.enqueue(enq_option, message);
db_conn.commit();
catch(Exception ex){
System.out.println("Exception "+ex.getMessage());
Error : Exception null
Please let me know if I missed something.
Thanks in advance!!!!!hi,
I had found the issue. The queue takes object type messages where as I was trying with Raw messages.
Instead of AQRawPayload raw_payload = message.getRawPayload();
I need to use
AQObjectPayload raw_payload = message.getObjectPayload()
and pass object as input to the queue. -
Need the Oracle Standard APIs for iExpense
Hi ,
Can you please let me know the list of standard APIs that can be used for iExpese. The requirement is that we need to create new OAF pages which insert data into iExpense Tables and also we need to do validations like the standard functionality of iExpense, hence we are looking for APIs which perform the standard validations and insertion of data for the iExpense tables. Please let me know of any documentation or links which gives list of Oracle standard public API for iExpense.

Oracle IBR : API for converting files in PDF
IBR and WCC Version : 11.1.1.6.0
Currently We have configured IBR with UCM for converting documents to PDF format. Is there ant IBR API available so that without checking in the document in WCC , we can call the IBR API and get the document converted to PDF and it would be done through synchronous call.
thanks in advance.
Yogesh
Edited by: user10285200 on Mar 28, 2013 12:18 AMHi Yogesh ,
Without having the content in WCC server you can convert it to PDF using the OIT Modules which is the actual engine that does the processing in WCC as well . For doing this you will need to have the PDFExport module deployed on your client machine and then with that conversion can be done .
This is the link for OIT PDF Export module : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/content-management/downloads/oit-dl-otn-097435.html
Infact all the modules of content processing / conversion can be done as an independent stand alone application using OIT . Each of those modules are available from the above link.
Hope this helps .
Thanks,

Alternative APIs for reading Zip files?
Hi all.
At the moment, our application handles zip files by copying the zip file to the temp directory and then creating a new ZipFile. However, the larger the zip file we encounter, the slower this copy becomes. We also need random access to the Zip file, so the usual workaround of using ZipInputStream is also slow, although slightly faster for random access than copying the entire file.
I raised a bug requesting a better constructor for ZipFile, but it was turned down as they seemed to think I didn't want random access.
But does anyone know of any alternative APIs which can access Zip files in a more random access fashion? I've discovered a few other alternative implementations of ZipFile, but all of them so far have had this issue of requiring a File.intensive. I am basically searching through zip
files to find a file and then taking that inputstream
for processing. I am basically looping through the
zip file until i match the filename....pretty crazy.I think it is pretty I/O intensive...hence slower
to see what I can do to increase performance. I am
using the following parameters:
-Xms512m -Xmx1024M -Xss16M -XX:ThreadStackSize=256
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m
Parameters look ok. I am not sure what -XX:ThreadStackSize will do as -Xss also sets the stack size? you can also try to pass -server and keep both Xms and Xmx to 1024 and see if it brings any improvement.

8.1.6 Oracle JDBC-OCI for NT availability
Hi. Does anyone know when the 8.1.6 JDBC-OCI driver for NT is coming out? I've read on previous posts that it will use JNI version older than NMI so it will work with development tools like Visual Age and with MS VM. It will be JDK 1.2.x compliant.
If anyone knows when it comes out, please post. The Solaris version has been out for a while now.
Thanks in advance.I head that the NT 8.1.6 release was delayed a bit more, possibly until March 2000 time frame.

Translator.zip and Classes111.zip for Thin-JDBC
In Jdeveloper 2.0,
Translator.zip
and classes111.zip for Thin-JDBC Doesn't exist.
Why?
nullDavid,
It depends on which version of the Thin-JDBC driver you want to
use.
For 8.1.4:
aurora\lib\classes111.zip
For 8.0.5:
jdbc\lib\oci8\classes111.zip
For 7.3.x:
jdbc\lib\oci7\classes111.zip
Even though the directories say 'oci', the classes111.zip files
contain both OCI and thin drivers.
I'm not sure what the translator.zip file is that you're trying
to locate. This isn't mentioned in the JDBC doc.

Sql_trace does not work for Java app using Oracle JDBC thin driver
Hi,
I'm using Oracle 8.1.7. I enabled sql trace at instance level by setting sql_trace and timed_statistics to true in init.ora. I restarted the db instance. I wrote a stand-alone java application which used Oracle JDBC thin driver(classes12.zip) to make a connection to my db instance, do some select statements, and close the connection. There were no trace files generated in the folder specified by udump_dest variable. However, if I used sqlplus or dba studio, I saw trace files generated. Has anyone got Oracle sql trace work for JDBC calls from java apps.

No JDBC drivers for Linux??
On the Oracle Tech Net site, it seems I can only download
JDBC drivers for NT or for Solaris... no linux...
Where can I get Oracle JDBC drivers for 8.0.5 for Linux?
Thanks!
Greg
nullThe thin driver will work from either download (classes111.zip)
since it is pure java. There is no OCI driver for Linux that I
know of.

Oracle JDBC driver 10g and xMII
I have a BLS that tries inserting CLOB data into Oracle 10g database. Since Oracle 8 JDBC driver does not support that (I saw other SDN messages on the same issue), I have download and copied Oracle JDBC driver for 10g
ojdbc14.jar to
C:\ServletExec AS\se-xMII\webapps\default\Lighthammer\WEB-INF\lib
folder
I restarted Servlet exec engine and I'm still seeing the same error
that the value to be inserted is too large ( I'm inserting more than
4000 characters but much lesser than 4 GB which CLOB column can take)
1. I want to understand if there is something else that I need to
change in order for xMII to pickup the new driver.
2. Also, should I add it classpath?
3. Looking at some Oracle notes on using capability of 10g driver for
manipulating large data, the property SetBigStringTryClob=true should
be set. I saw examples of some non-xMII applications setting it in their
servers.xml. Similarly, in which file can I set this property in xMII
to force the driver to use this feature?
Is ServerDefaults.xml under C:\Lighthammer\Illuminator\SysConf the
right place? Since it is not recommended to modify the configuration
files manually rather than using admin console, I'm not sure on this
one.
Let me know
ThanksAre you really sure this "SetBig.." thing is the solution?
Searching for the ORA error you posted results in quite a few solutions in the way you write your SQL statement.
Maybe changing your statement might help.
If you don't mind can you post the SQL statement?
Another good test would be to see if the SQL statement goes through without any errors when used from a different SQL editor.I would suggest do that first if you haven't already. -

oracle.forms.ui.*
oracle.forms.properties.ID
I want to find out more about the above mentioned packages, and i thought that javadocs / api would be the most comprehensive help that i can get.
I have downloaded a few javabeans that were close to my requirement, and was going through the java source codes, thats where i encountered these classes / packages.
I amd using forms 9i. and Jdeveloper 9iYou should ask the experts in the forms forum (Forms

"The JDBC API contains two major sets of interfaces:
the first is the JDBC API for application writers,
and the second is the lower-level JDBC driver API for driver writers.
Applications and applets can access databases via the JDBC API using pure Java JDBC technology-based drivers."
You can read this in the sun web site.
When I have downloaded a jdbc driver for mysql database
I have looked for source code and found those classes that implement the different interfaces belonging to package java.sql:
at this point I imagine that this driver implements the first of the two interfaces in the previous sentence.
I have not understood when the driver API for driver writers enter in this schema and if the second interface is anyway necessary for interact with the database: I would think that the second interface is necessary and is built with the driver API for driver writers, API that I have never seen.
What do you think about this?I was thinking the same but now I am not so sure.
Are you sure that API that belong to JDBC Driver API are not simply those concerning the driver manager?
Anyway, when I download the driver in order to speak with the database, are there JDBC Driver API too?
If you had reason, and the second volume of my official tutorial seems confirm this, the two interfaces would be completly separate.
And I can not imagine a API that help me writing a driver for any database. Which type of help could give me?
