Oracle ODBC Driver (Windows 2003 x64 Server)

Hi all
I have some trouble with this ODBC Driver ...
I have installed Oracle Client 10.2.0.1.0 with the ODBC Driver and SQLplus etc.
Now I have configured in the "Net Manager" some "Service Naming" as I did
on other servers before. Then I Test the connection in the "Net Manager" it
seams to work fine.
When I now try to connect in SQL Plus the following error comes up:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
I did already do this:
- Add "...\NETWORK\ADMIN" to the Path Variable of the server
- sqlnet.ora looks like:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES)
- tnsnames.ora looks like:
MyName.WORLD =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myDomain.net)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = DBSIDxx)
What do I have to do to get this working ???
Thanks for any comments!
Best regards

Nevermind, I think I'm to assume that this is the same as:

    Hi
I am trying to export an ms sql server table to Oracle using the Ms SQL Server 2007 export wizard and the only driver I found in the list is Microsoft OLEDB Provider for Oracle.
I already installed Oracle client and I addedd an ODBC conenction of the datasources Why can I not see the Oracle ODBC driver?

Which version of Oracle and what kind of Client Install
Are you sure you did the full Client Install which will have ODBC ?

  • How to configure windows 2003 x64 server to run CFUSION MX7

1.If you install Internet Information Services (IIS) on a
    computer that is
running Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition, IIS must be
    configured to run in
32-bit emulation mode. To do this, follow these steps on each
    front-end Web
server that is running Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition:a.
    Click Start,
click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
    b. At the command prompt, move to the
    %drive%:\Inetpub\Adminscripts
folder. Note that %drive% is the drive on which Windows
    Server 2003 is
    installed.
    c. In the Adminscripts folder, type the following command,
    and then
    press ENTER:
    cscript adsutil.vbs set w3svc/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64
    1
Note The value "1" for Enable32bitAppOnWin64 specifies
    32-bit mode.
The value "0" specifies 64-bit mode.
    d. Type iisreset, and then press ENTER.
    e. Close the Command Prompt window.

    Thank you sir.
BTW, if this enables 32 bit emulation mode, does that mean it
runs both 32 bit & 64 bit extensions, or just 32 bit
    extensions?

    1) Please verify that there is only one tnsnames.ora file on your system.
If there are several (other than in 'samples' directories), please make them all look the same and try again.
    2) If not, please post the contents of your tnsnames.ora AND sqlnet.ora files.

Re-read your original message and noteiced you posted the tnsnames.ora stuff.
Your alias is 'MyName.world', therefore you want to access using the connect string such as
    SQLPLUS system/[email protected]
If you want to use SQLPLUS system/password@myname (no .world) then either remove it from the alias or add the default_domain info in sqlnet.ora

Oracle doesn't produce such a beast. Microsoft provides a lot of important ODBC infrastructure on Windows that driver writers rely on which isn't available on Linux.
There are third parties that have developed ODBC drivers for Oracle on Linux. There's an open source project at <http://www.unixodbc.com> that you might be able to use. Companies like Merant may also provide drivers.

  • Apache gets installed together with Oracle 11G on my Win2003 x64 server?Rem

    Hi all,
I just installed Oracle 11G on my Windows 2003 x64 server.
It seems that it has also installed Apache on it and took over my port 80 on which i would like to run IIS.
Can anyone please advice on how i can either remove apache or if it is needed by oracle then at least change the port so i can have my port 80 back.
I had a browse around but i could not find any configuration files easily.
    Looking forward to your response.
    Cheers

  • Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb 2.10.11.00 on  Windows 2008 64-bit

    Hello,
Our application runs on Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and connects to RDB databases on Alpha Open/VMS via Oracle ODBC Driver fro Rdb release 2.10.11.00.
We are migrating to Windows Server 2008 64-bit environment.
We tested both recent Rdb ODBC driver releases (3.3.0.0 and 3.3.1.0) but we are getting errors intermittently when the application loads data from certain tables. Trace logs show no errors which could indicate the origin of the issue.
We want to use the old (2.10.11.00) release but it cannot be installed only on the Win 2008 32-bit version.
Can anyone suggest how to install the Oracle ODBC Driver for Rdb release 2.10.11.00 on a Windows 2008 64-bit Server?
    Thanks in advance,

  • How can I do to get Oracle ODBC driver in Windows?

    Hello,
Please, I need help to use Oracle ODBC driver in Windows 7. I installed Oracle Client 10g with the ODBC driver, but I can't use it. OracleODBC driver don't appear in the driver list when I want to create a new datasource. How I can do to get Oracle ODBC driver for create a new datasource?
    Thank
    Edited by: user4528703 on 13 mars 2010 02:01

    Hello,
To get the ODBC driver you should run a custom Oracle Client installation and Select
    Oracle Windows Interfaces 10.2.0.1.0.
Then, you'll get the Oracle ODBC Driver 10.2.0.1.
But, be aware that Oracle didn't certify Windows 7.
So, if afterwards, you experience some trouble, think to install Oracle with Xp compatibilty mode, or
wait to Oracle 11.2.0.1 which will be certified on Windows 7.
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,

  • Is the Oracle ODBC Driver 10.2.0.5.0 certified for Windows 7 (32bit)

For this question my client needs a reliable answer when their global IT migrates all Windows clients to Win7.
Now, Support Note 1061272.1 says Oracle Client 10.2.0.5.0 IS certfified on Win7 32bit.
But, Support Note ID 66403.1 says Oracle ODBC Driver 10.2.0.5.0 is NOT certified on Win7.
Does anyone one know, what counts?
Is (A) Note 1061272.1 right because ODBC is part of the client and note 66403.1 is simply outdated or inaccurate, or
is (B) note 66403.1 correct, because the ODBC driver is certified seperately?
Thanks for suggestions (or better: statements from Oracle), otherwise I have to open an SR.
    Kai

10205 is certified on Win7, 66403.1 will be corrected.

Windows 2003 is not listed as supported platform:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/A95493_01/reqs.htm#1101810
I would not try to install a desupported database version on an unsupported platform.

  • Cant install oracle 8i in windows 2003 server

    hi,
I am a newbie in Oracle. While Im trying to install Oracle 8i in Windows 2003 server , setup is not running. It didn't show anything. When trying to run from auto run, after splash screen nothing came.I formatted hard disk, changed two more hard disks,.changed machine...but cant install it in no way... It is the same case in Windows XP home edition.
But it is running in one of my friend's machine(windows 2003 server)
Please help me with valuable solutions.
    Thanks in advance

Did your friend install on W2003 or upgrade from an older version of the OS?
When trying to run programs on an OS that is not certified for the programs, it is hit-n-miss whether the OS actually has the support files needed for the programs.
Think about this: the Oracle environment needs OS support in the form of DLLs and other files. The contents of the DLLs are made visible as APIs. Each time Microsoft releases patches, it is possible that the APIs that Oracle used are changed. This is extremely true when a new version of the OS is released, and even more true with stripped versions such as XP Home.
If your friend installed and then applied patches, [s]he may have hit the proper API combination. If you appled patches first, you may have skootched your APIs to the point that Oracle can not longer install.
Even if you happen to get it installed, you run the risk of getting clobbered any time you install a new Microsoft patch. The risk is minimized when you use a certified combination of the OS and application.

  • Spool server on Windows 2003 x64 ?

    Hi,
I'm installing SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 on Windows 2003 x64 with MaxDB.
Printing Guide for SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 states "For a Microsoft Windows XP host, choose access method C. other Microsoft Windows operating systems are not suitable for local printing, as you cannot set up a spool server on them."
However, by default, there is a spool server defined in my installation of SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 on Windows 2003 x64.  But I see plenty of "Spool / print: Calling program reports invalid handle for TemSe object (magic==X'NULL-ptr')" errors in the system log when the background processes run every night.
Printing Guide for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 talks about a SAP spool server running on "the Microsoft Windows NT/Windows 2000 system", suggesting that Windows systems other than XP are supported for local printing.
Is that correct?  i.e. Has local printing support for Windows 2003 been removed in PI 7.1 ?
I'm surprised, and more than a little confused by this.  I'd appreciate any help/explanation.
    Regards,
    Mark

    Just a follow-up if anyone's interested...
I did try setting-up Access Method C in my NetWeaver 7.1 on Windows 2003 x64 with MaxDB and so far the local printing seems to be working OK. So, either:
    a) The Printing Guide for SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 is wrong on this issue.
    b) The Printing Guide for SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 is right, and this is an undocumented behavior that might break in the future.
    c) I just got lucky (and I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth).
Also, Access Method G works fine.
