Oracle on Linux JDBC problem

I installed Oracle 8.1.7 on Redhat 7.0 JDK 1.22
I try to connect Oracle with thin JDBC Driver.
code are all similar to the sample code. But I find the following exception message:
java.sql.SQLEXception:io exception: The network adapter could not establish the connection
at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.throwSqlException(DBError.java...)
at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.throwSqlException(DBError.java...)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection.<init>(Oracleconnection.java ....)
when I try to call DriverManager.getConnection
Is there any suggestion?
And why linux don't provide class12.zip, Is this problem because of I use class111.zip with JDK 2?

We have been troubleshooting a problem with our recently installed Linux (mandrake 8.0) Oracle DB Server. Everything seems to run fine, except JDBC connections. Whenever we connect to the server with one of our Java applications, JSP, Servlet, etc... the first time it works, then all other java apps get:
java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
... also, our connect strings are correct... seems to be a problem with the listener...
this only happens on the linux server and not solaris.

Also,
If I stop the listener and restart it... it works, but only for the first JDBC connection... ODBC seems uneffected.

Oracle Entreprise linux up2date problem

Imported Oracle's GPG Key:
rpm --import /usr/share/rhn/RPM-GPG-KEY
I registered my system:
up2date nox register
I updated up2date
up2date up2date
Then i forgot to install additional packages to install oracle database so i did the following:
rpm -ivh /media/cdrecorder/Enterprise/RPMS/sysstat-5.0.5-11.rhel4.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh /media/cdrecorder/Enterprise/RPMS/compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-132.7.2.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh /media/cdrecorder/Enterprise/RPMS/libaio-0.3.105-2.i386.rpm
I updated my rpm:
up2date -u -f
But up2date did not updated the rpm i installed after i registered with ULN:
sysstat
compat-libstdc
libaio
I try to update them manualy like this:
up2date sysstat
up2date compat-libstdc
up2date libaio
But it says no update available.
I resynchronize my system profile:
up2date -p
if i redo up2date -u:
no update available.
Is there no new version of those packages?

Problems dual booting Windows Vista with Oracle Enterprise Linux 4

I tried dual booting my sony laptop which came pre installed with windows Vista,After a successful installation,windows Vista boots fine,but Oracle enterprise linux just stops booting at this point " Starting Udev...................................................(OK)

It's posibly a hardware compatibility problem but I dont know why I get stuck at this point.Can anyone help please?

u may get this error probably due to hard disk (usually sata) compatility with linux.

Yast installation problem on Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2

Hi,
I installed Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2 on a new server (Intel 64 bit) with the downloads from oracle
(Enterprise-R5-U2-Server-x86_64-disc1.iso till Enterprise-R5-U2-Server-x86_64-disc6.iso).
Then I wanted to install Yast for administering my machine and downloaded yast_el5_x86_64.tar, again from Oracle. Running the Yast install routine it required the perl-Digest-SHA package. I downloaded that from Oracle ULN and installed it.
Now, running the Yast install routine again, I get a bunch of warnings and errors about failed dependencies and NOKEY's.

Installation problem oracle 11g R2 on oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5

i've installation problems with oracle 11g R2 on oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5. In the section "ORACLE Net-Konfigurationsassisten" the failure "[INS-20802] Oracle NET-Konfigurationsassistent not success". What's wrong? I've followed the instructions on http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/smiley-11gr1-install.html
I've heard the problem can occur with problems in /etc/hosts? My /etc/hosts is configured:

Installation problem with Siebel8.0 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 system

We are having installation problem with Siebel8.0 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 system.

I'm facing the same error message while install Siebel 8.0 on OEL. But before I had this ksh problem, it complains about disc space first, and I actually has plenty of disk space under the directory (it needs only 0.7 G and I have 17G free). Anybody has encountered such problem before?

Remote JDBC Problem with Oracle BPM Studio

Hi all, i am facing the Remote JDBC Problem with Oracle BPM Studio.
When i configure a Remote JDBC Connection for SQL in BPM Studio, it prompt me an error.
The SQL Connection is configured as following :

I guess the weblogic.jar is not included in the studio.
So, i added weblogic.jar (Weblogic 10.3) and wlclient.jar (Weblogic 10.3)
It is working in my simple java code. But, still not working in BPM Studio.

Is it original media? The first installation disk set i received from oracle had a bad disk 2. Once I received the new set, everything was fine. You may have bad media as well.

Problems Installing Designer 6.0 over Oracle 8i (Linux SUSE 8.0)

I have problems installing Designer 6.0 over Oracle 8i (Linux SUSE 8.0). When I try to create the repository the installation hang up. I try over Oracle 8i (WIndows 2000) and the problems remain.
Please any body can help?
Is it possible to install Designer 6i and generate forms 6.0 (I mean for using Developer 6.0 (NOT 6i))?

I had the same problem. Oracle gives as an answer that Designer 6.0 is not supported against 8.1.7. In the specified package a statement is issued which is a problem for 8.1.7. I changed that package and now it works fine.
Comment as below and replace with the delete statement, then it compiles fines.
I don't know if any problem can occur after that, but a Migration from a 1.3.2 repository to 6i works fine through this repository. Hope this helps.

Problem accesing SYSTEM tables of Oracle in Linux Platform

All,
I am facing the below mentioned problem during accessing the System Tables of Oracle in Linux Platform. (in linux we have install the Database)
E.g: If we pass the statement as
SQL>select * from user_objects;
It gives the error message as
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid
The same is with :
SQL> select * from v$session;
select * from v$session
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid
Can anyone help.

This seems to be a dicitionary corruption. Its better if you consult your DBA.
If you are a DBA in your project then post the below output
select object_name, owner, object_type from dba_objects where object_name = 'USER_OBJECTS';
set long 4000
select dbms_metadata.get_ddl('VIEW','USER_OBJECTS','SYS') from dual;Regards

Problem with oracle listener linux/390

Hi everybody,
I've installed oracle 9i developer release on linux/390.
The database seems ok, but when i try to connect from other
machines i get:
Ora-03113: End of file on communication channel
The failure occurs after the connection is established.
I've read in some oracle faqs, this cause may be a database
server error.
I've checked all configuration files, but found nothing.
Can someone help me?

Oracle Linux JDBC

Which drivers are needed to access oracle from Linux ?
I want to access Oracles database through servlets for which i am using Tomcat servlet engine?
Can anybody tell how to access data base from root on Linux?
And of course how access databases?

Also, be aware that Tomcat does not put .zip files in a webapp classpath, only .jar files; I simply renamed classes12.zip into classes12.jar and it worked.
Note: here I'm talking about "bundling" the jdbc driver in the WAR of the webapp, i.e. adding it to the WEB-INF/lib directory in the WAR file.

What errors are you getting? Can you post the codew you are using to get MajorVersion.

Problem while connecting to oracle in linux

i connected to oracle in linux as
"sqlplus ,#sysdba,"
after that it asked me for password
and i typed as "oracle"
after tat message displayed that "connected to IDEAL instance"
SQL>select * from tab;
i got an error message staying tat "ORACLE not connected"
can anyone help me out where the poblem is getting

you should mount and then open the database
if you are using spfile
then issue
SQL>startup
database mounted.
database opened.
or
SQL> startup nomount pfile='location'
database will be in nomount stage
SQL>alter database mount;
database mounted.
SQL>alter database open;
then you can issue your command..
