Problem accesing SYSTEM tables of Oracle in Linux Platform
All,
I am facing the below mentioned problem during accessing the System Tables of Oracle in Linux Platform. (in linux we have install the Database)
E.g: If we pass the statement as
SQL>select * from user_objects;
It gives the error message as
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid
The same is with :
SQL> select * from v$session;
select * from v$session
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid
Can anyone help.
Regards
ND
Hi,
This seems to be a dicitionary corruption. Its better if you consult your DBA.
If you are a DBA in your project then post the below output
select object_name, owner, object_type from dba_objects where object_name = 'USER_OBJECTS';
set long 4000
select dbms_metadata.get_ddl('VIEW','USER_OBJECTS','SYS') from dual;Regards
Anurag

user605023I'm facing the same error message while install Siebel 8.0 on OEL. But before I had this ksh problem, it complains about disc space first, and I actually has plenty of disk space under the directory (it needs only 0.7 G and I have 17G free). Anybody has encountered such problem before?

Run queries against system tables for oracle BPEL processes
I want to run queries against system tables for oracle BPEL processes. It is becoming very difficult for me to us EM as it is very slow,
and not all the time, it is sufficient for our needs.
We are doing load testing and we want find out info like how many requests came in and how many faulted and what time is taken by each request...
So do any of you have the query that I can use and tables that I need to go against?Use the BPEL hydration database table "cube_instance".
There should be plenty of example in the forum regarding this table. -

Unix permission problem for external table in oracle 10g, sun solaris
Hello All,
I'm facing a problem in accessing external table which has stumped me a bit.
What I'm looking for is to use a external table with restricted permission to Others(770) on unix.
Would appreciate if someone helps me out here.
Here are the steps:
1.create directory ext_tab_dir1 as '/home/ravi/test'
2.grant read,write on directory ext_tab_dir1 to scott
3.CREATE TABLE scott.emp_load1(employee_number CHAR(5))
ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL (
type oracle_loader
default directory ext_tab_dir1
access parameters (
records delimited by newline
fields terminated by ' '
optionally enclosed by '"'
missing field values are null
location ('info.dat')
Now I have added unix user oracle to unix group myDbGroup and provided myDbGroup read/write/exec permission on directory /home/ravi/test.
info.dat has been placed in /home/ravi/test.
#pwd
/home/ravi
#ls -l
drwxrwx--- 2 ravi myDbGroup 512 Mar 7 17:35 test
I have manually logged in as user oracle and successfully created a sample file in /home/ravi/test.
-rwxrwx--- 1 ravi myDbGroup 13 Mar 7 17:33 info.dat
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle oinstall 0 Mar 7 18:05 sampleFile
I then connect to the db using sqlplus as ravi and do a
#select * from scott.emp_load1
I get the following error
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout
ORA-29400: data cartridge error
KUP-04063: unable to open log file emp_load1_18567.log
OS error Permission denied
ORA-06512: at "SYS.ORACLE_LOADER", line 19
After this, I gave full permission to /home/ravi/test
drwxrwxrwx 2 ravi myDbGroup 512 Mar 7 17:35 test
#select * from scott.emp_load1
And this was successful.
It created a log file in /home/ravi/test
-rwxrwx--- 1 ravi myDbGroup 13 Mar 7 17:33 info.dat
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle oinstall 0 Mar 7 18:05 sampleFile
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle oinstall 0 Mar 7 18:05 emp_load1_18567.log
Now what stumped me is the owner and group owner of the file emp_load1_18567.log.
It is same as the sampleFile which I created manually!!
From this it can be deducted oracle is not using user id oracle while reading/writing to the unix directory but somehow assigning user id oracle as owner to the log file at the end.
If someone has encountered this problem earlier or has some info about this...pls share.
Regards,
RavinandanThanks for the reply.
I have earlier checked this with NOLOGFILE option.
But no luck.
I would like to add one more detail(which I missed earlier) about the problem.
If I give 750 access to /home/ravi(That is read/exec to Group and none perm to Others),
I will get the same error(KUP-04063: unable to open log file emp_load1_18567.log).
This obviously means oracle is not even able to access the directory(Although unix user oracle has access via the group perms). -
How to install Oracle Enterprised Linux on VMware PLayer 4
Hi Everyone,
My name is John and I've a small issue which I would like to share with you and hopefully, you are able to assist.
My laptop is installed with a Window 7 Home Edition operating system and I've installed VMware-player-4.0.2. After reboot, I've also downloaded the file - V29609-01 which is the ISO file of Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.2.
After that, I've tried to create a Virtual Machine - Oracle Enterprise Linux using the VMware Player by specifying the path and file name of the V29609-01.iso file on my local c:\ drive. I've tried it several times, but every time it just returns the message - 'pxe-e53 no boot filename received' and it just hangs there without proceeding further. Please let me know what I've done wrong and the correct steps and procedures to solve this problem as this is my first time installing a Linux operating system. Thank you for your assistance.
Regards,
JohnHi,
Can you clarify and explain what is your exact meaning of 'Are you sure you've added the ISO to the VM to boot from?'? Because the following is what I did:
1.) Click the Create A New Virtual Machine.
2.) Select the 'Install disc image file (iso):' option and enter the full path of the V29609-01.iso (Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.2) file that I've downloaded from https://edelivery.oracle.com/. But underneath it, that is a message saying - 'Could not detect which operating systems is in this dsic image. You will need to specify which operating system will be installed.'
3.) Click 'Next'.
4.) I chose "Linux' under the Guest operating system and chose 'Oracle Enterprise Linux' under the Version drop down.
5.) Click 'Next'.
6.) I left the Virtual machine name as 'Oracle Enterprise Linux' and click 'Next'.
7.) I set the Maximum disk size to 300 GB and have the 'Split virtual disk into multiple files' option selected and click 'Next'.
8.) I have the 'Power on this virtual machine after creation' checked and click 'Finish'.
9.) A black screen displayed inside the VMware Player saying:
'CLIENT MAC ADDR: 00 0C 289 ......
PXE-E53: No Boot filename received
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
Operating System not found
10.) And the process just hangs there.
Regards,

I'm having problems installing disk 2 of oracle 9ias linux edition is thier anyone else having this same problem?
Nop,
It should runs okay.
It could become a problem if you run it directly from file manager.
What do you mean by problem, is it mean that you cannot change CD?
I think you should try to run in through terminal in KDE Window and when the installer ask for second CD, you should change your current directory and eject the CDROM

Question about system catalog tables in oracle 11g database
We have a customer issue and in order to trobleshoot that we need following information. We would really appreciate any input. I opened SR with support and they asked me to open a discussion here. Please see following.
what is the meaning of the part# column of the sys.tabpart table and what are the possible values that can be entered into this system catalog table. Our findings are that Oracle may have varied the meaning of this column as the data that we are seeing returned is now > 2gig which does not make sense for a partition number.
Our stored procedures use this information to retrieve information from the Oracle system tables to process a partitioned Oracle table. Our research has found that the limited description for this table (and columns) can be found in the following Oracle member at the following location:
dpart.bsq --> ...... oracle database path... \RDMS\ADMIN folder
The comment within this file notes the following:
" this value is "partition number (see discussion below)"
However, there is no additional discussion to describe what the value means and the possible variations. We need this information to move forward with our problem diagnosis and
to see what kind of updates we need to make for our stored procedures....
Thanks a lot in advance.
AvniI ran the following....
list expired archivelog all; - This showed all of the archivelogs that we were not able to validate...
delete expired archivelog all; This deleted the expired archivelogs that were reported from the previous command...
I then crosschecked the archivelogs by running the following:
crosscheck archivelog all;

Automatic refresh the alarm table in oracle bpel 10.1.3.5 on Linux
Automatic refresh the alarm table in oracle bpel 10.1.3.5 on Linux
I have bpel process with wait activity ..those are getting hang during thre processing. when I
refresh the alaram table..they are processing normally.
Is there a way to refresh the alarm table automatically for every few minutes.?
I have checked the Best Practices Guide
Tuning
com.oracle.bpel.expirationAgent.threadCount = 50
and com.oracle.bpel.threadPool.threadCount = 5
Does not help. What I am after is some way for an automatic refresh to be done say every 1hr or so.
Can this be done?? If YES, how??Hi,
I had a similar requirement a while back, since due to poor system config we also Wait timers not expiring on time. I couldn't find a method within BPEL console to do this automatically.
I'm not a Java developer, but at the time I did use google to and put together the following. I can't tell if it is working since there is nothing written in the BPEL logs to indicate the refresh. My plan was to develop a script to detect waits not expiring, and then to run the java (below).
I used the the following blog as the basis : http://oraclebpelindepth.blogspot.com/2008/09/undeploy-bpel-with-java.html
import java.util.Properties;
import com.oracle.bpel.client.IBPELDomainHandle;
import com.oracle.bpel.client.Locator;
import com.oracle.bpel.client.ServerException;
import com.oracle.bpel.client.BPELDomainStatus;
import com.oracle.bpel.client.Server;
import com.oracle.bpel.client.auth.ServerAuth;
import com.oracle.bpel.client.auth.ServerAuthFactory;
public class DoRefreshAlarmTable {
public static void main(String[] args) throws ServerException {
//Properties with BPEL server connection information
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("orabpel.platform", "ias_10g");
props.put("java.naming.factory.initial", "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
props.put("java.naming.provider.url", "opmn:ormi://omv2rrm2:6003:oc4j_soa/orabpel");
props.put("java.naming.security.principal", "oc4jadmin");
props.put("java.naming.security.credentials", "pass4bpel");
props.put("dedicated.connection","true");
//Get a locator in default domain
Locator locator = new Locator("default","welcome1",props);
//Get a handle to the domain
IBPELDomainHandle iBPELDomainHandle = locator.lookupDomain();
//Refresh the alarm table
iBPELDomainHandle.refreshAlarmTable();

Hello,
I'm looking for system tables or views like in the Oracle Database.
First I'm looking for running /active sessions - like v$sessions or in an RAC environment gv$session
And get the corresponding SQL from v$sql
Second I had problems to drop tables due to constraints.
Therefore I was looking for dba_constraints, all_constraints or user_constraints
select * from user_constraints WHERE constraint_type in ('R');
With that information I'm able to generate a script to drop the constraints.
Third I want quick lookup about data types used in a table to correct my settings in Oracle BI.
For example which column in which table of my schema uses the datatype BIGINT.
If only 3 attributes in two tables out of 100 use the BIGINT datatype - I'm able to quickly change my settings in the OBIEE repository.
I'm missing a table like user_tab_columns.
How can I get the same information out of TimesTen ?
Thanks in advance,
ThorstenHi Thorsten,
You should be able to get some of the information that you want from the TimesTen reports that are in SQL Developer.
e.g.
<TimesTen Reports -> Table -> Columns -> Columns> returns a listing of all the columns and their data types. You can order by the data type column or add a filter (say ='TT_BIGINT') to restrict the result set.
<TimesTen Reports -> Table -> Constraints -> All Constraints / FK Constraints / PK Constraints / Unique Constraints> returns a listing of all the constraints, their name, the table that the constraints are on, and their properties.
For all the SQL Developer reports, you will be able to see the underlying queries and the TimesTen system tables/ views that they reference.

Yast installation problem on Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2
Hi,
I installed Oracle Enterprise Linux Rel 5 Upd 2 on a new server (Intel 64 bit) with the downloads from oracle
(Enterprise-R5-U2-Server-x86_64-disc1.iso till Enterprise-R5-U2-Server-x86_64-disc6.iso).
Then I wanted to install Yast for administering my machine and downloaded yast_el5_x86_64.tar, again from Oracle. Running the Yast install routine it required the perl-Digest-SHA package. I downloaded that from Oracle ULN and installed it.
Now, running the Yast install routine again, I get a bunch of warnings and errors about failed dependencies and NOKEY's.

Installation problem oracle 11g R2 on oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5
hello support,
i've installation problems with oracle 11g R2 on oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5. In the section "ORACLE Net-Konfigurationsassisten" the failure "[INS-20802] Oracle NET-Konfigurationsassistent not success". What's wrong? I've followed the instructions on http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/smiley-11gr1-install.html
I've heard the problem can occur with problems in /etc/hosts? My /etc/hosts is configured:
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 oracle localhost.localdomain localhost

is this ok? what can I do to bring the database-installation to success?
Thank's for help ;-)
