Hi Al Mamum,
You cannot use Opatch for this.
You need to upgrade using DBUA (database upgrade assistant) from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4.
Revert for any queries.

    Hi:
the error "ORA 3106" happened when the BW system was drawing out the
data from the CRM system . I found the note "1005758 - ORA 3106 in
Oracle 10.2.0.2",so I downloaded the oracle patch p5092134 and p6646850. I upgraded the opatch version to 10.2.0.2.5 and executed the
command "opatch apply " in the patch "6646850" folder, but the process
stopped at the phase "Backing up files affected by the patch '6646850'

  • Opatch in MSCS (Oracle Patch in MS Cluster)

    Hi,
in dev system we have just apply last Oracle Patch with opatch tool with success. We have just downloded from Service Market Place with last opatch version.
    Oracle 10.2.0.2 on Windows 2003 32 bit.
Now I would like to install in production system that it is a MSCS cluster, same Oracle release and same Windows version.
In MSCS cluster... I must run opatch for each mscs node (for both oracle_home) ... and run the script only one time... it it true ?
    Regards.
    Ganimede Dignan.

That's right. But you must have ORACLE resource down in MSCS.

  • Oracle patch from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4

    Hi all,
Currently i am with oracle version 10.2.0.2.0 .......
I need to patch Oracle from 1.2.0.2.0 to 10.2.0.4
    Environment - Working with IA64 & Windows 64
I am looking for relevant path where i can download file & go with the process for IA64 bit
However i am following different sap notes but pretty confused with the action plan..
    Please advice on the following
    -rahul

    Rahul,
Here is place where you can download patch.
    http://service.sap.com/swdc -->Installations and Upgrades > Entry by Application Group> SAP NetWeaver>SAP NETWEAVER> SAP NETWEAVER 7.0>Installation and Upgrade>Windows Server-->ORACLE
Here you will find the below DVD's
51036971_2 ORACLE RDBMS Patch 10.2.0.4 Windows Server on IA32 32bit
51036971_3 ORACLE RDBMS Patch 10.2.0.4 Windows Server on IA64 64bit
51036971_4 ORACLE RDBMS Patch 10.2.0.4 Windows Server on x64 64bit
Download which is applicable to your platform.
To apply, best thing is to read README.html file that comes with patch and SAP Note 839182..
    - Stop services "Transcation Coordinator " and Oracle SQLi service.
    - Deploy Patch Set 3 with Setup.exe
    - Upgrade your Opatch Utility
    - Now apply Generic and latest patches with Opatch Utility.
    - start services

  • Error when try to install CPU - Critical Patch Update with OPatch

    Hello gurus,
I´m faccing with a problem... After I update the patch set to 10.2.0.4 and install the interim patches for Linux X86_64 now I´m trying to import/install the Oracle Critical Patch Update - Oracle CPU patch!!
I´m trying to import it with OPatch, and I already update this OPatch tool for the last version even before proceeding with installation of Oracle CPU!
I've tried to import it by two methods. The first I tried to apply as described in the relevant README file inside of CPU patch directory, and I used in this case the following command:
    redhatsap:orajmd>  unzip p9119226_10204_<platform>.zip
    redhatsap:orajmd>  cd 9119226
    redhatsap:orajmd>  opatch napply -skip_subset -skip_duplicate
    opatch: Command not found
After that previous error, I tried again but now with other method that is described in note 839182 (Installing patches using OPatch) with the following command:
    redhatsap:orajmd>  cd 9119226
    redhatsap:orajmd>  $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch apply

    Best regards
    João Dimas - Portugal

Hello again Joe Bo... and all of others,
I´m with a doubt after installing the CPU patch, which is related to post-installation tasks. I´m in this momment install the SAP System and it was during this installation that sapinst asked me to install the database and all other activities after this installation that are related to the database, for example, the updating of database patches.
At README file in chapter 3.3.2 Post Installation Instructions is described the following:
After installing the patch, perform the following actions:
1.Load modified .sql files into the database, as explained in Section 3.3.2.1.
2.Recompile views in the database, if necessary, as explained in Section 3.3.2.2.
In this momment, as you certainly know, I still don´t have a database because the sap system isn´t yet totally installed (I´m in phase 8 of sapinst wizard).
I only have to do this "Post Installation Tasks" when I have a database, this database will be created after that phase 8 - so now I don´t need to perform the post steps... am I right?
    Thanks in advance,
    João Dimas - Portugal

OPatch failed with error code = 255A Metalink note says error code 255 means wrong OPatch version, but I've tried 11 x86, 11 x64 and 12 x64 on my Windows 7 x64 with the same result.

  • Apply Patches on Oracle Database with Logical Standby Database

    Here I am:
I got a primary database with a logical standby database running Oracle 11g. I got two client applications, one is the production site pointing to the primary one, another one is just a backup site pointing to the logical one.Things will only be written into the primary database every mid night and client applications can only query the database but not add, update nor delete. And now, I want to apply the latest patch on both of my databases. I am also the DNS administrator, I can make the name server pointing to the backup site instead of the production one.I want to firstly apply the patch on the logical one, and then the physical one.
I found some reference which explains how to apply patches by adopting "Rolling Upgrade Method". however, I want to avoid doing any "switch over" mentioned in the reference because I can make use of name server. Can I just apply patches as the following way?
    1)Stop SQL apply
2)Apply patches on logical standby database
3)let the name server point to the backup site
4)Apply patches on the primary database
    5)Start SQL apply
6)Let the name server point back to the production site
    Thanks in advance.

  • Need help with opatch for OBIEE 11g

I'm running into some more of Oracle's typical gibberish and poorly written documentation, and need some help patching OBIEE 11g.
I'm TRYING to follow the instructions here:
    https://updates.oracle.com/Orion/Services/download?type=readme&aru=13160647
So, let's see. How about step 2:
For FMW Opatch usage, please refer the doc at :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/fmw_opatch.htm
Well, that IP address automatically redirects to the general download page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/downloads/index.html
    Nice.
    So, let's try this doc:
    http://docs.tpu.ru/docs/oracle/en/owl/E14571_01/doc.1111/e16793/opatch.htm#CBHDEGBJ
Section 2.3.2, "Patching a Fusion Middleware Product"
Quoting: "Once you obtain the patch, determine the Oracle home directory to which you are going to apply the patch....If you do not know the name of your Oracle home, you should run the opatch lshomes command as described in Section 2.4.6, "Listing the Applicable Oracle Homes for a Patch" to obtain a list of Oracle homes that pertain to the domain."
So let's see, I've got two OPATCH.BAT files, one in c:\mw_home1\Oracle_BI1=OPatch\, and the other in c:\mw_home1\oracle_common\OPatch\.
I open a command window, CD to one of those paths, and run opatch lshomes. I get this error:
"The Oracle Home C:\mw_home1 is not OUI based home. Please give proper Oracle Home. OPatch returns with error code = 1. OPatch failed with error code = 1"
Same results for the other opatch.bat in the other directory.
Besides the atrocious grammar, this error message is not helpful in the least. I'm trying to patch OBIEE 11g, which is installed in c:\mw_home1. What else is opatch wanting?

Yes, the error message is misleading. It should say something like "Environment variable ORALCE_HOME has not been set or set incorrectly".
Here is how I solved the problem on a Windows Oracle Fusion Middleware SOA installation. The SOA installation already comes with OPatch installed. In my case it is located in D:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1\OPatch. On a command prompt, I set the environment variable ORACLE_HOME like this
    set ORACLE_HOME=D:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1
and the CLASSPATH variable like this
    set classpath=
The latter prevents opatch from loading classes it does not need and throwing java.lang.ClassNotFoundException. Also notice ORACLE_HOME does not point to D:\Oracle\Middleware but D:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1. I made a mistake by setting ORACLE_HOME to D:\Oracle\Middleware kept getting:
"Recommended actions: Please make sure no other OPatch or OUI processes is running. Try to run $ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin/runInstsaller.
OPatch failed with error code = 20"
I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what went wrong.

  • Oracle PAtch 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 in a 2 SID database

    Hello together,
I want perform a Oracle PAtch from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4. For me thats a "daily" procedure.
But now I want to patch a Database which contains to SID's (Schemas). One is for a NW04s JAVA Stack (JMM) and the other one is for the SAP MDM Server.
ORACLE_SID and installation database is JMM.
I know I have to patch the JMM (C:\oracle\JMM\102\bin) executables.
    So now my question?!
What are with postinstalling scripts. Should I run them in both schema's
    Thanks for any help
    BR
    Christian

you need to run SETUP.exe from the 10.2.0.4 patch set, then run opatch to patch to patch 8.
after this, run DBUA (database upgrade assistant) on both instances. at last, run the script mentioned in the patch 8 upgrade guide.
also check SAP note 830576 to adapt to new parameters.

  • What are the steps to apply Oracle Patch?

What are the steps to apply Oracle Patch?

    Hi,
    apply patch != apply patchset
Generally, patch is apply with opatch tool (from 9i), and there is an exe for patchset.
But, as it already said, the reading of readme is always a good idea...
    Nicolas.

  • Installing patches using OPatch

    Hi All,
We are planning to upgrade oracle version 10.2.0.2.0 to Oracle patch set 10.2.0.5
    Current opatch version is :
    bhluksmp:orasmp 68> opatch version
    Invoking OPatch 10.2.0.2.5
    OPatch Version: 10.2.0.2.5
since i m upgrading oracle from  10.2.0.2.0 to Oracle patch set 10.2.0.5.
1.so do i need to apply the opatch10.2.0.5 or just use the existing version of opatch.
2.Upgrade opatch after i have upgraded to 10.2.0.5.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Before you do anything I'd advise you to read ALL related notes.
You have downloaded 2 SBP, they are cumulative, therefore you do not need them.
The note about MOPatch indicates you how to install the patches
I already mentioned you that the SBP is installed with the Mopatch tool and note 1431752 gives you an explanation on how to do it.
You do NOT unzip the files that you download, MOPatch works with the zipped file:
    1.  Call the following path of the SAP Software Distribution Center:
        http://service.sap.com/oracle-download
        -> Database Patches -> Oracle -> Oracle 10.2.0.5
    2.  Open the platform directory and download the SAP Bundle Patch file
        SAP_<Release>_<Date>_<Platform>.zip, the SBP README
README_<Date>_<Platform>.htm, and the SBP patch history
        BUGSFIXED_<Date>_<Platform>.htm to your database server.
    3.  Use MOPatch (SAP note 1027012) to install the SAP bundle patch in
accordance with the instructions in the SBP README. When you do
this, pay particular attention to the patch-specific installation
        instructions.
You download the latest OPatch and MOPatch from
    http://service.sap.com/oracle-download
        -> Database Patches -> Oracle -> Oracle 10.2.0.5 -> Opatch
Please, READ and think before you do anything.
SAP Notes and documentation are there for something.
