what version of your report builder?
I had similar problem but it got cut off at the right side when I was using report6i
say set right margin to 1'' and run the report, the right side got cut off. and I went back to check the margin, it was updated to 3.97'' automatically.
this did not got resolved until I applied patch and upgraded to 6.0.8.25 (forgot the older version, maybe 6.0.8.16 or older)
try this if applicable to your sitution.
good luck

  • How to remove space between pages in Oracle Reports 6i?

    Hi,
    I have customized one oracle report (rdf). Earlier, the standard report was showing the ouput in pages i.e. there exists space beteen the pages. But I want my custom report in such a way that it should show me the result in one page i.e. there should be no space between the pages as user wants to spool the output into excel sheet (xls format) after getting the result output obtained from my custom report. Presently, when i spool the data into excel sheet, there is still the space exists between the pages like...few records will come then white space...then records.
    How can I remove this space, so that user can easily spool the data into excel without existence of white space.
    Any sort of help on this will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
    My report is running on Unix. When I checked the output file in unix where it is getting generated, i saw ^L characters wherever the space appears when i see the output in apps (notepad) , like after every page where I am able to see the space in my output, there ^L is appearing in output file in unix, so how can I avoid this.
    I tried to adjust the frames and repeatinf frames also, even i tried changing the properties also of main region (body), but nothing is working for me and still the same issue occurs. I am not aware of this. Please suggest me.
    Thanks a lot!

    Please tell us about your product, version and Application Server type. You may also want to note that Oracle Apps is different from Oracle Application Server .
    Also intriguing is the error you report. Where and what exact error do you get? Error codes/messages need to be reported exactly (not paraphrased).
    Was that in displaying the info or in printing it to a printer?

  • Oracle report-how to change report layout to landscape?

    Hi,
    I am using Oracle report 6i. I want to change the report layout to Landscape. I had tried to go to 'page setup' and changed to 'landscape', but when I print, I still got portait layout.
    Can anyone help me? Thanks.
    Jun

    Hi,
    Easiest method for changing your reports orientation to Landscape is
    Go to object navigator->System parameters->Orientation.
    Set value of this system parameter as Landscape. Thats all. You also can set this property using srw. features at runtime.

  • Passing parameters with spaces in Oracle reports

    I hav a system that passes a query string to a servlet and generates an Oracle Report. All of the varibles worked Ok as long as they don't have spaces in them. Whenever a parameter with spaces is encountered,it generates an error. i tried to enclose it in single or double quotes but it didn't work. I also tried to insert the Url Encode for spaces which is %20 but it also generated an error. pls help me on this one...

    I suppose you're working with GET instead of POST. Try to use the POST method; this gives you the possibility to work with a URL without parameters behind the question mark. This might be the solution to your problem.

  • Oracle reports - Line graph

    Hello,
    I have a few issues with the line graphs (using oracle 10g dev suite R1 - 9.0.4).
    1. Unable to make my y axis - a dotted line.
    2. Since I couldn't make the y axis a dotted line, I made it a thin line. This thin line looks fine when I run it from the oracle reports builder. but when I genenerate to a PDF file, this thin line becomes thicker.
    3. Thirdly, I want to place a dot or something wherever the value changes in the line graph. One option is to add the MarkerText visible="true" to the Graph settings xml file. but this puts the marker text to all the y axes.
    I want it only for 1 y axis.
    Cheers

    Assuming you mean "series" and not "axis", you can control the style, width, and markers using the lineStyle, lineWidth, and markerShape attributes of the <Series> element (in the XML shown in the Graph Settings property) for the series (set of Y values) of interest.
    For example, to use a thin, dotted line with circle markers on the first series, but leave the other series with their defaults, you might:
    1. Make sure the markerDisplayed attribute of the <Graph> element is set to ="true". Otherwise, no markers will be displayed.
    2. For the <Series> element with the id attribute equal to "0" (which identifies the first series), set the lineStyle attribute to "LS_DOTTED", the lineWidth attribute to "1" (in pixels), and the makerShape attribute to "MS_CIRCLE".
    3. If needed, set the markerShape attribute of the other <Series> elements to "MS_NONE".
    The Graph Settings property might look something like this:
    <rw:graph id="CT_1" src="G_YOUR_GROUP" groups="X" dataValues="Y1,Y2">
    <!--
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <Graph version="3.2.0.22" graphType="LINE_VERT_ABS" markerDisplayed="true">
    <SeriesItems>
    <Series id="0" lineStyle="LS_DOTTED" lineWidth="1" markerShape="MS_CIRCLE"/>
    <Series id="1" markerShape="MS_NONE"/>
    </SeriesItems>
    </Graph>
    -->
    </rw:graph>For more information, see the "Graph.dtd" file in your "%ORACLE_HOME%\jlib\bigraphbean.jar".
    Hope this helps.

  • Issues with format of Excel file created from an Oracle Report

    I'm running Oracle Reports 6i.  My reports run fine but when I covert them to Excel files I lose my column headings (they end of being repeated for each row in their own columns) and the ordering of my other columns. I can't figure out what is determining the column order as it is not the order of the items in Report Builder or in the query. Could someone tell me why this might be happening and how to fix the issue?  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm a very new user. Thanks!

    Hi,
    First of all let me clear out generating a report pdf is different from excel.
    The Repeating Frame and boxes,lines etc., used in your reports plays a vital role in excel.
    Because, the fields in the reports are segmented into XL cells and displayed as the output.
    For Better results in excel...Follow the below instructions,
    --Remove Boxes,lines,etc.,
    --Make your repeating frame and main frame visible (don't put 'NO_LINE') for any frames,
    --Don't leave any unnecessary spaces in reports between fields,frames etc.,
    --Then run your report.
    It will work fine,

    # If you have entries for a same font in many PDF sections, then Font

    # in Font Subsetting will take precedence over the entries in Font Embedding
    # section.
    # Generic entries for a font must follow more specific entries for the same
    # font. For instance, if you want to subset helvetica Plain, helvetica Bold,
    # helvetica Italic and helvetica Bold-Italic fonts, your entries must be:
    # [ PDF:Subset ]
    # helvetica..Italic.Bold.. = "Arialbi.ttf"
    # helvetica...Bold.. = "Arialb.ttf"
    # helvetica..Italic... = "Ariali.ttf"
    # helvetica..... = "Arial.ttf"
    # If helvetica..... entry appears in the top of the list, all the styles of
    # helvetica font in the layout will be subset as helvetica Plain font.

  • Sum function do not work in oracle reports enhanced spreadsheet format

    we are using oracle reports 10.1.2.3 in our oracle application server 10gr2 and we are creating enhanced spreed sheet.And the report opens in MS excel fine.But we can not apply any formula like VALUE,SUM,AVG on that report after opening it into excel.First we thought that it may be because of the comma in the number filed.we removed that comma from the filed but t still gives the error "Error in value"

    Hi,
    I hope you already solved this problem, I had the same issue after spending an hour I found the workaround, this is just for the guys who experience the same issue. Try to format your number columns either at database level(not via Report builder property palette) with TO_CHAR(...) OR use this Format Mask at Report level to format your numbers -NNNGNNNGNN0D000(negative sign must be there to avoid space in output Excel).
    Hope it helps,

  • Help desiging a 10g Oracle Report with Matrix and Lexical Parameters - Long

    Hello all:
    I apologize in advance for this long post.... I'm using Oracle Reports 10g (9.0.4.0.33). First -- the question:
    I need to create a Matrix where the rows come from one database table
    (TABLE1) and the columns and cell contents come from a linked query (pulled from TABLE2) that is generated with lexical parameters based on the current TABLE1 row. The lexical parameters contain a WHERE clause for the TABLE2 query. Basically, I have a linked query between TABLE1 and TABLE2. I need to generate a Matrix around it.
    Does anyone know if this is even possible?
    Here's the background on the application, if that is helpful...
    I have an application where I maintain database tables containing names/addresses along with information pertaining to them. As part of the processing, I need to produce reports that contain statistics based on values in the table. For example, each row has a field RTYPE that identifies the Record Type (1-Suppress, 2-Buyer, 3-Inquirer). Each row also has a last purchase date field. The statistics produced for this field would look like this:
              2001     2002     2003     11/03     12/03 01/04     02/04 03/04     04/04     05/04 ...
    Buyer      100 150 250 30 25 15 8 9 22 83
    Inquirer     1000 800 493 ...
    Suppress ... ...
    Totals ... ...
    Each cell contains the count of the number of records that have the corresponding RTYPE and Last Purchase date. The dates across the top are determined by the most recent purchase date in the file. We count the last 12 months, month by month, and then anything older than that is grouped by
    year of purchase. So, the column headings are variable.
    The SQL query for this example looks like this:
    SELECT CASE WHEN rtype = '2' THEN 'Buyers'
    WHEN rtype = '3' THEN 'Inquirers'
    WHEN rtype = '1' THEN 'Suppress'
    END HLDESC,
    CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYYMM')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYY') || '00'
    END YYMM_8,
    CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'MM/YY')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE, 'YYYY')
    END FmtDate_8,
    COUNT(*) HLCOUNT
    FROM &TABLENAME T
    GROUP BY CASE WHEN rtype = '2' THEN 'Buyers'
    WHEN rtype = '3' THEN 'Inquirers'
    WHEN rtype = '1' THEN 'Suppress'
    END,
    CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYYMM')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYY') || '00'
    END,
    CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'MM/YY')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE, 'YYYY')
    END
    ORDER BY CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYYMM')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYY') || '00'
    END
    There might be a better way to write this, but that isn't the issue at the moment.
    I have many different tables, each with different fields. I need to produce counts on each of those fields. Some of those fields have a limited number of values where I need to count the occurrences and attach a description (like the RTYPE counts above). Others, like Last Purchase Amount, require counts within ranges (between 0 and 9.99, 10 and 19.99, etc.). Still others are "multiple choice"-style fields (such as products purchased), where we have multiple single-char flags that are not null when the corresponding products are purchased. In this case, we need to produce statistics that look like this:
              2001     2002     2003     11/03     12/03 01/04     02/04 03/04     04/04     05/04 ...
    Product 1 .........
    Product 2 .........
    The worst of the bunch is a field where I need to count the occurrence of each value within it (hundreds of values) without entering descriptions, so I don't know how many rows will appear ahead of time. This is used for "source codes" that identify where the name/address came from. They look similar to the RTYPE above, but the leftmost column contains each value from the field rather than a description. There are so many possible values and they change so often that it isn't feasible to enter a description for each one.
    Right now, I manually create an Oracle Report for each table when I design/load it. This is becoming difficult to manage, since I have over 150 of them now. Each of these reports can have any number of matrices to display (the largest right now has about 25).
    The new table structure to generate these reports consists of two tables: A COUNTHDR table and a COUNTROW table. The COUNTHDR table represents a single Matrix within the report. It contains info such as a heading for the Matrix and whether column totals should be calculated or not. The COUNTROW table contains a description for each row and an SQL Fragment that contains an appropriate WHERE clause to match the description. In the event of a "source code" style count, COUNTHDR has the name of the field to count. COUNTROWs won't exist, so I'll be handling those counts differently. But, ignoring that issue for now, the report structure looks like this:
    + Q1 +
    |
    + COUNTHDR +
    |
    + COUNTROW +
    | linked query
    + Q2 +
    |
    + COUNTDTL +
    Q2 is the query with lexical parameters for the table and "where clause" that identifies the actual statistic I need counted. I need fields from COUNTROW and COUNTDTL to form a Matrix.
    Can this be done? How?
    Of course, if anyone out there has a better idea on how to achieve my goal of not writing a report per table, please let me know!! :-)
    TIA
    Eric Raskin
    PS. This structure does not exactly duplicate my original query, since multiple Matrix rows are created by the single SQL query given in the example. Instead, I'll end up executing an SQL query for each row, which is less than desirable. The design will need some tweaking...
    PPS. I have tried handling this problem by pre-counting the target table and storing the results in a COUNTCOL table, containing the details of the matrix. This actually does work, but the performance is terrible. I have one "source code"-style count that generated over 20,000 detail cells, including all the "0" cells needed to fill out the matrix. If you don't generate the "0" cells, you get holes in the matrix presentation and/or error messages (which I can explain if you wish). I never did get Oracle Reports to print this one -- I gave up after an hour of runtime on a P4 3GHz machine connected via Gigabit Ethernet to the server. Hence the attempt to push the SQL Queries back into the Oracle Report itself.

  • HTML DB  call Oracle Report and Print

    I have a PRING button on the HTML DB report. When the user click on this PRINT button it launches the oracle report location Portal Server in UNIX box. The report display in Lanscape format as I set it up. However, when I go to File/Print and click print. It print inf Portral. I tried depressly to make it print on page in lanscape format, but I was not success. Pleas help.

    This isn't really an APEX question and it's not that clear what you're wanting to acheive.
    However, have you tried choosing the landscape print format on your printer preferences via the File -> Print dialog?

  • Character mode Report in Landscape Format

    Hi All,
    I want to print my character mode report in landscape format. But I am not getting it. Everytime I get print as Portrait. I am printing from live previewer of report builder.
    I am using Oracle 9i and Report builder 6i (6.0.8.11.3).
    I have done following settings:
    System Parameter ORIENTATION=Landscape
    DESFORMAT=DECLAND.PRT (Given by Oracle)
    In the object navigator I have set following properties for Main Section
    Width=11
    Height=8.5
    Orientation=Landscape
    Char Mode Width=132
    Char Mode height=66
    I have done same settings for Header Section and Trailer Section. Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.

    You will need to edit prt files to add the printer escape sequences to change the page orientation to landscape. Printer escape sequences can be obtained from the printer manual, or the printer vendor.
    For instance, HP printer escape codes can be obtained from the HP website under the printer support links.
    The steps below describe how to print a landscape, character mode report from a Windows NT PC on an HP 4100N Printer. The 4100N is a dual mode printer that can use either PCL or Postscript printer language.
    1. Use a web browser to navigate to the HP website and obtain the printer escape codes for the HP 4100N. If you are unable to locate the HP4100N printer, look for generic PCL information. The HP site also includes detailed information on the printer command syntax.
    2. The HP4100N printer command for landscape page orientation is "ESC&l1O" - where ESC indicates escape, '&' (ampersand) is the parameterized character, 'l'(lower case letter l) is the group character, '1' (number one) is the printer value character and 'O' (upper case letter O) is the termination character.
    NOTE: The HP documentation uses "EC" to signify the escape character.
    It also suggests pressing CTRL and the letter P together, then
    releasing both keys and pressing the ESC key. If this is done in
    a dos editor, a left arrow will actually be displayed on screen.
    This character cannot be interpreted by Oracle Reports and will
    cause printing errors if used in a .prt file. Instead, just use
    the letters "ESC" to indicate that the code that follows is a printer
    escape sequence.
    3. Make a copy of the wide.prt file and rename it to "mywide.prt."
    4. Add the page orientation escapes to mywide.prt file:
    printer "mywide"
    height 66
    width 132
    before report esc "&l1O" *** Puts Page in Landscape Orientation***
    after page control(L)
    after report esc "&l0O" *** Resets page orientation to Portrait ***
    return control(M)
    linefeed control(J)
    SYNTAX NOTES: The escape sequence must be enclosed in double quotes ("). The above comments regarding page orientation are used to clarify where the escape codes gets added, but they should NOT be used when editing
    the actual .prt file.
    5. Save mywide.prt file to the $ORACLE_HOME\report60\printers\ directory.
    6. Go to Windows PC -> Start -> Settings -> Printers and open the properties for the HP printer. Ensure that the option to "Always Spool Raw Data" is checked. This option is usually under the General Printer
    Options, or Spool Options. On Windows NT, you must have Administrator privileges to change this setting.
    7. Test running the report to the printer and specify desformat mywide. It is not necessary to include the file extension (.prt).
    8. The report will now print in landscape orientation.

  • Adding a field to an sql statement in Oracle Reports error ORA-00933

    We have been requested to add a field that already exists in the table referred to by the sql statement in Oracle Reports Builder. The report was set up by a consultant about 3 yrs ago and we don't really have much skill in this area. What is happening when I try to modify the SQL statement, either adding a field or deleting a field to the SELECT statement, causes an error message preventing the statement from being saved. The only way out of the error message is to click Cancel. The error message is
    ORA-00933:SQL command not properly ended
    ORDER BY Program ==> NAME
    Even adding or deleting a space anywhere in the SQL statement causes the error (not adding any new fields). A coworker found that if we comment out the ORDER BY, the statement will accept the new field in the SELECT section, however then we lose the order by functionality. I would like to add one additional field before the FROM. Not sure if any additional data are needed. Thank you.

    Hi Denis,
    I tried your suggestion. The good thing is that adding the comma allowed me to be able to add a.campus to the select statement, unfortunately, another error message happened.
    ORA-00936: missing expression SELECT p . person_uid PIDM_KEY ,
    p . id_number , p . full_name_lfmi name , p . BIRTH_DATE , p . GENDER Sex ,

    CASE WHEN : P_group_by = 'PROGRAM THEN a I started over and tried only putting in the comma and get the same message even though I didn't add campus. After that, removed the comma which led to the ORA-00933 error message. So once again, I had to close the file without saving, in order for the report to run at all.

  • Oracle Reports output in Acrobat 7.0

    Hi,
    We have migrated application from forms and reports 6i to 10g. The application provides the screen to generate reports, which will have both Simple Chinese and English. The reports are printed in pdf format.
    When we view the report in Acrobat reader 5.0, the output is fine and when the same report is opened in Acrobat reader 7.0, we see that text in english has space between each character.
    e.g. - the text 'Risk' comes as 'R i s k'
    How do we fix this problem?
    With regards,
    Priya

    The report is generated using Oracle reports 10g. But
    the oracle report was developed using 6i and its
    migrated to 10g.Hi!
    Yeah, I understand that you migrated 6i reports to 10g. But you didn't answer my question (how look like PDF - in Reader 7.0 - generated with 6i?).
    With this i just want to determinate is this problem has anything to do with migration from 6i to 10g or not?
