Printing reports issue (Word/PDF/Excel...)

Hello Apex masters,
Here's the deal:
I have a page in which I have
1. report - "sql query" type: "select * from dual", Print Attributes: Enable Report Printing=Yes, Output format=PDF (default options)
2. button item: "Apply filter", Button Request=Filter
3. Branch: target type=page in this app, page=same page, when button pressed=APPLY_FILTER
Behavior:
1. If I login, open this page, use the "Print" url from the report, a PDF file is successfully generated.
2. If I login, open the page, click on the "Apply filter" button and then use the "Print" url from the report, an empty PDF file is generated. (same thing happens for Word, excel etc...)
I also have some other items on the page, but I guess that it shouldn't make a difference.
My workspace is on apex.oraclecorp.com.
Thanks a lot,
Andrei

Andrei,
Given that you' re running this on an Oracle internal site, could you email me login information for your workspace or re-create this sample on a workspace I can access?
Thanks,
Marc

  • How to create rtf template to view report in Word and Excel, with numeric f

    Hi,
    Please help me!
How to create rtf template to view report in Word and Excel, with numeric formatted fields (like this 999 999 999,99 with spaces between numbers) and then end user be able to process those fields with Excel tools (sum, etc).
    Thank you.

From what I have seen Excel can not handle 999 999 999.00. You can use 999999999.00 and then format it as you want in the xls bt you can not have values like 999 999 999.00 coming from publisher output and have functions on the values in Excel

  • Why won't my officejet 4500 wireless print from microsoft word or excel?

My new officejet 4500 wireless printer will not print from microsoft word or excel.  The paper goes through the printer but there is nothing printed on it.

    Hello.
It seems like the black cartridge could be running out of ink. Since most of what is commonly printed from MS word and excel might be black text, this is the first reason I can figure out why your printer is not printing only from these applications.
Check this document to see if your printer is performing good and to check if ink is coming out from all of the cartridges.

  • No Printing from Microsoft Word or Excel

There is no printing from Word or Excel
There is printing from the internet
There is only one line printed on emails; the line that separates the heading from the email text.  Cleaned cartridges, reset printer, disconnected power.

  • Design Reports in Word or Excel

[url http://www.windwardreports.com/]Windward Reports, the leader in enterprise report generation, has released the world’s first enterprise reporting software that enables use of Excel as a design tool. The Windward Reports Server Engine is perfect for users creating both java reports and .net reports alike, and now allows users to design reports in both Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel as well.
Windward, a leader in with its design-in-Word reporting software because of its ease of use, now adds the advantages of Excel to its portfolio of simple-to-use, superior reporting products. Windward’s new AutoTag 6.0 reporting software uniquely uses Excel to intelligently figure out sums and number formatting, and allows users to build a table which supports calculations. AutoTag 6.0 still outputs to Word, or any other output format, to produce reporting documents.
Why is this Excel release so important? Simply put: Freedom. By creating an easy-to-use design tool which allows users to design their reports in Excel (in addition to word), Windward is freeing up thousands of IT man-hours normally allocated to report design, and including Excel business users in their ‘power-to the people’ philosophy. Now, non-technical business users who prefer Excel, can design their own reports and stay within their comfort zone while doing so. Windward Reports AutoTag for Excel doesn’t just look like Excel, it IS Excel.
How Does It Work? Begin with a worksheet. Using the AutoTag pull-down menu, select a data source such as an SQL database or XML file. (AutoTag works in conjunction with the Windward Reports Standard Server Engine, which gives your PC the ability to communicate with your organization's data sources, such as its SQL databases and XML files.) You use standard Excel commands to format and edit the report, and you assign tags to the data fields using the AutoTag pull-down menu. When finished, you save your template and, if you wish, verify that tags are correct with AutoTag's "validate" function.
What makes this unique? With AutoTag for Excel, your number formatting always carries through – it doesn’t matter if you output to RTF, PDF, or any other type. And, by using Excel templates you have a way to easily, and automatically generate reports that perform calculations on a collection of values! For instance, you might use Excel to sum all of the line-item amounts that are generated by an AutoTag. While AutoTag was always easy to use, this additional capability offers functions not available in a word-designed template, allowing the software to be used by more people, in more ways.
When you generate the report Windward Reports merges this template with the data you have selected. The finished report, with all of your formatting, positioning and design, is available in minutes instead of hours or even days.

  • Oracle reports to display PDF/Excel files stored in the Database

can we use Oracle reports to view/display PDF/Excel files stored in the Database? Thanks Lalitha

A document stored in the database can be easily retrieved in or via the browser using mod_plsql. Simplified:
    select content, mime_type
    into v_blob, v_mime_type
    from ...
    owa_util.mime_header(nvl(v_mimetype,'application/octet'),false);
    htp.p('Content-length: ' || dbms_lob.getlength(v_blob));
    owa_util.http_header_close;
wpg_docload.download_file(v_blob);So, the link in your report should point to this database procedure.

  • Printing report output in PDF format

    Hi,
I want to know what are the settings needed to print a report output in PDF format, while executing the report from Oracle applications (Ver 11.5.6).
Report is executed as a concurrent request from Oracle applications.
Normally when we run the report from Oracle applications, output will be opened in a internet browser(IE) in HTML format. But I want the output to be opened in PDF format instead of HTML.
    OS: Sun Solaris 2.8.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sarish

    Hi Sarish
Please contact Oracle Support for an answer or to customise your application so that it prints a report output in PDF Format.
To get PDF output you must run report/job with DESFORMAT=PDF in the command line instead of DESFORMAT=HTML/HTMLCSS.
    Regards

  • Tracking placed files (jpeg,tiff,word,PDF,excel)

It was recommended to ask this here vs bridge - not much luck in bridge. The situation: i have multiple sources sending a variety of files (jpeg, tiff, word,PDF,and excel). As the book is designed many of them will be placed. As long as the sources update with the same name im good. However, they will inevitably send me batches of files containing new files - how can I track what has been placed and what hasn't. I will have multiple folders to organize the chaos. One thing bridge helped with: keyword. I can quite easily assign a placed keyword in bridge, filter using that word and im done. Except for word and excel - metadata doesn't take. Someone explained this to me.
The sources are out of country, so i have to track this. Bridge takes care of 90%. Perhaps someone has dealt with this. Again, if someone adds a new photo without calling it out, keyword work. Its the Microsoft documents that get tricky. In advance, i appreciate our time.

Start by creating an Item type of OLE container. Set the following properties:
    - OLE Tenant Types: Embedded
    - Database Item: Yes
Make that item the last item in the block.
Create a push button such as 'Insert Document' with similar code:
    DECLARE
      vcFile VARCHAR2(1024);
    BEGIN
      vcFile := win_api_dialog.Open_File('Select Document File to Insert',NULL,'MS-Word files (*.doc)|*.doc|'||

  • Reports issue with pdf

    Dear all,
    I have migrated a reports form 6i to 10gR1.
We are facing an issue while printing with PDF.
The printed page is not corresponding in term of margins to the initial print (with 6i).
And we have some predefined paper and we cannot change them
When, on my local PC, I'm trying to print it directly from Report, it is fine.
It is really due to PDF format.
The margins are identical, the paper size too.
Why PDF file is not corresponding to the REPORTS?
    Any idea?
    Best regards,
    Sebastien

While printing PDF, change PDF print settings:
'Shrink oversized pages to paper size' as Checked (selected)
    This may solve this issue.

  • Print Report Output in PDF Format

    :-) Hiee E'body
I generated the output of a Report(developed in Report Builder 6i) in PDF format.
The output file is created properly and the PDF file gets displayed on the screen in proper format but when i try to print the PDF file it gets printed across the page instead of printing
    it straight.
I have checked all page and printer settings but cannot find the reason for this.
If anybody is aware of the solution to this problem please guide me for the same.

  • Error trying to print report to both pdf and network printer

    Hi all,
When trying to print a report to my network printer or to pdf I get the two errors attached, one right after the other.  The resulting pdf or hard copy has almost everything in it, except for three tables which are completely missing.  When I go back into the report and open the page with the missing table, the table is no longer visible in the report and I get the second error again.  Exiting and restarting diadem brings the tables back.
I've found several threads about pdf and other print errors and tried the solutions there to no avail; specifically the one posted here.
I hope there is a fix to this!  These reports are intended to sell management on diadem! Thanks!

    Hello testingHotAir,
Just to make sure, do you have administrative privileges for this machine?
Also, you have attempted these exact steps as posted by lerman?
Make sure that you are logged in as Windows administrator.
Click the Windows button and click Printers.
Right-click the Diadem pdf Export and select Properties
Click the Ports tab, then click the Add Port button.
Note: If the Ports tab is greyed out, right-click the Diadem Pdf Export icon and select Run as admin.
Select Local Port and click the New Port button.
Enter PDF1 for the new port name and click OK. Close the Printer Ports window.
Put a checkmark in the box next to the PDF1 port if it is not already checked.
    Click on the Advanced tab.
Select the Spool print documents radio button to make the options below it clickable.
Clear (uncheck) the box labeled Enable advanced printing features by clicking it.
Select the Print directly to printer radio button to make the options below not clickable.
Click the Apply button, then click OK.
Important: In order for the changes to take effect, you must restart your computer.
Reboot your computer and then try to print, email, or create a pdf from Diadem.

  • Printer Compatibility Issue with PDF?

I have a PDF document someone else created with InDesign CS3 5.0.4.  It opens in Reader 9.1.3 and prints perfectly on some newer printers.  However on older printers the very bottom of the document is chopped off in both print preview and the actual print on paper.  Both printers are HP and I spent a couple hours chatting with HP Tech Support trying new drivers, etc.  Their conclusion was that it is caused by an unresolvable issue between the PDF and the older printer.  They, of course, said I would need to buy new printers eventhough they are not that old and work just fine for everything else.
So far the same issue has come up in three other offices. There must be a better solution other than throwing money at it.
I have never used InDesign and I am wondering if there could be some settings used at the PDF creation in either InDesign or Acrobat that may solve the problem.  The form must be printed exactly as designed so Shrink to Fit is not an option.
    Thanks.

Thank you for answering so quickly!
I agree, and I am afraid the answer to this issue is to either buy new printers or redesign the form.
The PDF is a new state government form and I want to exhaust all other options before I get involved with the bureaucracy of inquiring about a change to the design of the form.  (A stick in the eye sounds more fun.)
So from your expert knowledge of InDesign and PDFs there is no way, short of redesigning the form, to have it print correctly on "older" printers?
    Thanks again.

  • Print report data across in excel

    hello
I have report data with xml file that typically has like 50 records of data. each record will have a dynamic number of data fields that need to go into a separate column/cell into excel output table.
i.e., need to print data across (tried using for-each @column ). this works for the first record but rest of the records wont work.
any ideas or examples on how we could have an xml structure and template table formula that i could use.
report need to look like this
    Table     col1     col2     col3 ... and so on
    data1     X     ' '     ' '
    data2     ' '     X     ' '
    ... and so on
    and so on
    thanks
    Edited by: 955878 on Sep 10, 2012 3:09 PM

i got this by doing to for-each
    for-each:hdrgroup
    then for-each@column
this way we had to get the xml 1 dataset per each row and all columns in this row.
    thanks

  • Exporting pdfs to word and excel file formats  and translating

Hello, I am new to this forum and came here because I am a professional translator. Although we should be given documents in their original file format, in the real world translators have to convert pdfs such as manuals or annual reports into word or excel files. Given the fact we often work for agencies, and/or do not work directly with the people who created the original files inthe first place, with the best will in the world we normally have to make do with converting the pdf file, or lose the job.
I would like advice on the best way to learn more about  pdf to word and excel conversion and ways of keeping formatting when it is helpful and removing what is not.
The general problem is (well the problem is really ignorance on my part!) of course getting the "look and feel" similar in the converted document and knowing more about manipulating the formating and elements which get converted.
Any help or pointers to online tutorials whether multimedia or text much appreciated.
    David Hardisty (david1610)

Thank you Lori, this is so clear! I am a teacher as well and there are clear presentations and wonderfully clear presentations and this is in the latter category.
A tiny suggestion. You would not believe how many pdf files exported to word I have received that are Portuguese content and the sender has not set the language to Portuguese! So in your text entry you might want to mention the language setting. I know it is obvious, but as we know sometimes we cannot see the obvious!
I will need to look far more carefully at the final things in your video.
Are there any special considerations for exporting pdf files as Excel? My original doubt was I had to translate some accounting documents. 95% of the document was numbers which did not changing (except for commas to periods and vice versa due to different separator conventions). I did not now how to just select e.g. the vertical column with text. I will go back and try with this suggestion because in this case the look and feel of the numbers was important and the precise fonts etc. seemed to cause problems. But now I am getting out of my depth!
    Thank you again!
