These errors are ignorable, Oracle just trying to drop the package before creating them. If this is the first time you run catproc.sql, the errors are expected.

Hello,
now this message is pretty obvious. So the needed information would be:
ls -ld /oracle/QAA/102_64/rdbms/admin
ls -ld /oracle/QAA/102_64/rdbms/admin/log
ls -ld brtools
id
and then compare if the user executing brtools has appropiate rights.
Most likely you did not run saproot.sh so brtools might not be set suid to oraqaa
and you are executing as qaaadm.
Best regards

Hi,
How can you create job in OEM to use EXEC UTL_RECOMP.recomp_serial(); inorder to compile all db objects.
I tried few things but all resulting in error.
I am creating OEM job as SQL script and where it ask for SQL script I am giving below code:
1.
WHENEVER SQLERROR EXIT FAILURE;

I can run utlrp.sql without any error manually from sql prompt as sys user.

• Area or view of sql sentences with error??

Hi Gurus!
I wanna know if is there any view or something like that, where I can look for a sql sentence with error?
The views V$SQL, V$SQLAREA, V$SQLTEXT doesn't work for that because they have de last rigth sql sentences and I need the last with error.
Thanks in advance.

SQL Developer maintains a history of the SQL statements that it has issued over time. That is a purely client-side function, though, it just tells you what SQL has been issued by the local client. It doesn't tell you anything about what SQL has been sent to the server by other client applications on the client machine or from other client machines.

After running patch set assistant against MDS schema using jython script, I need to run the sql file utlrp to recompile the db objects and the db machine is remote and I would like to run remotely. Any suggestions.
Thanks

You can execute remote scripts via SQL*Plus - provided that there is a network access path to that remote script.
From the SQL*Plus command line help:
SQL> help @
@ ("at" sign)
Runs the SQL*Plus statements in the specified script. The script can be
called from the local file system or a web server.
@ {url|file_name[.ext]} [arg ...]
where url supports HTTP and FTP protocols in the form:
http://host.domain/script.sql
@@ (double "at" sign)
Runs the specified script. This command is almost identical to
the @ command. It is useful for running nested scripts because it
has the additional functionality of looking for the nested script
in the same url or path as the calling script.
@@ {url|file_name[.ext]} [arg ...]Both HTTP and FTP access to remote scripts are supported. If you do not have either, then you need to copy that remote script to a local location and execute it, via SQL*Plus, from there.

• $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql

Hi,
can i use this script to compile all my invalids objects without auther effects on my product DB?
Thanks.

Are there invalid objects on your DB at this time.
Normally this may happen at the time of migrating or upgrading a application and the script could be used to compile all invalid objects to save on recompile steps at runtime.
Note this from the comments in the file:
<quote>
Rem * There should be no other DDL on the database while running the
Rem script. Not following this recommendation may lead to deadlocks.

• PL SQL Compilation with error

Hi guys,
Sorry that i'm quite new to PL SQL and oracle. I having some issue on pl sql function as i implementing a CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION. Below is my syntax for my function.
create or replace function auth_Name ( v_auth_state IN varchar)
return varchar2 is
v_authName varchar;
BEGIN
select name into v_authName from employee
where
name= v_auth_state;
return v_authName;
end auth_Name;
But whenever I compile it will show "Function created with compilation errors". Isn't it supposed to show "Function created successfully"? anyone can guide me along with this?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum!
The immediate problem is that the local variable v_authName can't be declared as just VARCHAR. That's how you give the datatype of an argument (like v_auth_state) or the function's return type, but the local variable has to be given a length.
You could say something like:
v_authName varchar (20);but, since v_authName has to match a specific column from a specific table, it's better to define it as that column's type and length directly.
You might want to do the same for the argument and the return type, like this:
create or replace function auth_Name ( v_auth_state IN employee.name%TYPE)
return employee.name%TYPE is
v_authName     employee.name%TYPE;
BEGIN
select      name
into      v_authName
from     employee
where
name     = v_auth_state;
return v_authName;
end auth_Name;
show errorsIt looks the function is just returning it's argument. Is that what you want? If not, describe what the function is supposed to do.
As written, the function will have a run-time error if there is not exactly one row in the employee table with the given name. What would you like to happen if there is no matching row in the table? How about if there are several?

• Dynamic SQL run with error 'ORA-29275: partial multibyte character'

Hi All,
In daily work, we use daynamic SQL to load data from another database through DB Link. However, even if I run the following simple statement in our DB, it will raise the error.
CREATE TABLE TEST_TMP
AS
SELECT TRANSACTION_REASON
FROM [email protected] --it is using db link.
WHERE LAST_UPDATE_DATE>=TO_DATE('18-12-2012 22:01:58', 'dd-mm-yyyy hh24:mi:ss');
This statement had been workng correctly before OCT-2012 and there was no change with the source. Afterwards, there was just a change which upgraded the DB version from 10g to 11g on our side. I have browsed my technical articles, but I still cannot find the root cause. Is it due to the updgrading of the DB which practice stricter sanity check?
I don't know.
I'd appreciate of you can give me suggestion if you know such case.
Thanks,
David

The errors are like these. How can I correct these errors and continue to installation? Is the oracle version 10.2.0.4 not correct version to install 4.7 enterprise on Red Hat Linux 5.3?
Best regards,

Hi Markus,
I found 5 ERROR. There are different lines.
First one:
<fld name="STATUS">
<strval><![CDATA[ERROR]]>
Second one:
CASE (= 'AUTOALLOCATE') RETURN (' AUTOALLOCATE '),
CASE (DEFAULT) RETURN (' ERROR ' + (tTablespaces.extMgmtAllocMode
Third one:
CASE (= 'DICTIONARY') RETURN (' DICTIONARY '),

Fourth one:
CASE (= 'AUTOALLOCATE') RETURN (' AUTOALLOCATE '),
CASE (DEFAULT) RETURN (' ERROR ' + (tTablespaces.extMgmtAllocMode
Fifth one:
CASE (= 'DICTIONARY') RETURN (' DICTIONARY '),
CASE (DEFAULT) RETURN (' ERROR ' + (tTablespaces.extMgmtMode
Which one will I change to OK? Must all off them change to OK?
Also is this problem about only these oracle error in your oppinion? For example in first line of ora_sql_results.log I have an error like below:
CJS-00084 SQL statement or script failed
Connected to an idle instance.
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
But ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID environment variable are ok. Also I can connect and start and stop database manually. There is no problem about it.
I installed anly Oracle patch 10.2.0.4. I didn't install any oracle interim patch. Should I have install oracle interim patch for Oracle 10.2.0.4?
Best regards,

• Dbca - what $OH/rdbms/admin scripts does it run, like catalog.sql etc.

Hi,
I have a database we've been using on Oracle 806. I am using dbca to create it in Oracle v9.2
In our database creation scripts, we run the following oracle admin sql scripts. We may run more, but these are what I've found so far:
catalog.sql
catproc.sql
dbmspool.sql
prvtpool.plb
utlexcpt.sql
Is there a need for me to run these scripts when creating a database using dbca in v9.2, or does dbca run them?
Thanks much
-Bob

Thanks you guys.
I checked the creation scripts, and it ran these:
connect SYS/change_on_install as SYSDBA
set echo on
spool /occ/cots/oracle9i/assistants/dbca/logs/CreateDBCatalog.log
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catalog.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catexp7.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catblock.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catproc.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catoctk.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/catobtk.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/caths.sql;
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/rdbms/admin/owminst.plb;
connect SYSTEM/manager
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/sqlplus/admin/pupbld.sql;
connect SYSTEM/manager
set echo on
spool /occ/cots/oracle9i/assistants/dbca/logs/sqlPlusHelp.log
@/occ/cots/oracle9i/sqlplus/admin/help/hlpbld.sql helpus.sql;
spool off
spool off
exit;
So, I only need prvtpool.plb, dbmspool.sql, and utlexcpt.sql for my needs.
I need the exceptions table for sure.
And dmbspool.sql for memory efficiency and keeping an eye on object sizes - dbmspool.sql also calls prvtpool.plb, so it's two birds with one stone. So I'm set.
Thanks again all
-Bob

• Trigger, catproc.sql : ICD Vector problem, plz help

Obviously i've messed with something i shouldnt mess with.. how can i resolve it short of a reinst of 817 ?
Thx in advance.

Bruce,
I think what happened is that you should have logged in as
sys instead of system when you run the catproc.sql. So, now you
have a package created for sys and system. What I suggest to you
is that you go into DBA Studio and remove the package(s)
(duplicate ones) and then you should be alright. I hope this
will solve your problem.
