Oracle scripts to manage sql ext to Warehouse Facilities (Create Dimensions, Rollup)

I'm running Oracle 8.0.5 Enterprise Edition on NT.
I used the Oracle assistant to create a new database instance and
i had noticed that sys tables and packages to manage sql dimension extension had been created.
Subsequently I had to re-create the database (because i needed to
modify the db-block size) but now i'm not able to find the Oracle
Scripts that allow me to re-create the appropriate sys-user, tables and packages.
I currecly run the buildall.sql script which run the catalog.sql, catproc.sql etc..
Could anyone tell me which are the right script to run and where are they located?
Thanks in advance,Imma

(Running Win2K Pro, standalone PC 9201 patch2323002)
Yes, I'm getting the same problem, except I get this error message :
ORA-28575: unable to open RPC connection to external procedure agent
Which apparently means I've got something wrong with my listener configuration and it can't find the external procedure. Seeing as I haven't configured the listener maybe this is the problem?!?!?!
Have you had to configure your listener? If so what did you put in it?

    Urgent issues indicate a live/production system is having problems and a company is losing money, or customers are being prevented from using it.
    For urgent issues you should raise your issue with Oracle Support using your customer support identifier.
    The community forums are for non-urgent issues.  To suggest such issues are urgent is considered rude, as the people who help here are volunteers with their own jobs to do, so demanding their time for your "urgent" issue is not appropriate.  It also suggests that you think your issue is more important than other people's issues, so you are being rude to those people too.  Your issue is no more important than anyone elses.
    In relation to your question, you need to provide more information.
    Please read: Re: 2. How do I ask a question on the forums?
    When you refer to "SQL Server" are you referring to the Microsoft SQL Server product, or are you just referring to a physical server with your oracle database on it?

  • Oracle scripts and BO SQL

    Hi,
    It has been a huge benefit to discover that with MS SQL Server we can use not just single SELECT statement in BO but pretty extensive scripts, including creating variables, using multiple intermediate queries, etc. For example, attached is one pretty complex script which runs in BO report (single query).
    However, any attempt to use variables or multiple statements with Oracle DB failed so far.
    Is there is a possibility to do scripts in BO when working with Oracle
    In particular, we would be looking for:
    Declaring variables
    Assigning  values to variables, potentially a value which is a result of a query
    Using variables as part of a query (like defining time frame, sample in SQL Server: “WHERE t.CreationTime >= @StartTime AND t.CreationTime  < @EndTime”)
    Any flexibility here would be of huge help to report developers.
    We are using BI4.0 SP5
    Query which is working with SQL Server.

    Hi, I am copying same records 9 times and this query is working fine in SQL-2008 or newer version but getting the following error in Lower SQL version. How I can run this script for lower SQL version.

    create table #temp (Code1 varchar(10))

    Error: Line 2: Incorrect syntax near ';'.

    Why are you using CTE in SQl server 2000. They were introduced from 2005. of course you need to confirm version of SQL Server
    Plus use code like below
    If object_ID('tempdb..#Temp') IS NOT NULL
    drop table #temp
    create table #temp (Code1 varchar(10))
    insert into #temp values ('ABC')
    ;With Numbers As

  • INSERT Script stored as "SQL Statement Script" not firing on Oracle Alert

    We are using Alert Manager to run Alerts based on absence information in EBS R12.1.3 HR tables.
    Application: Human Resources
    Period/Event: Periodic
    Frequency: Every Day
    The Alert has 2 actions.
    One is to email a supervisor based on the Alert SQL finding staff who have had x number of absences over a set period of time.
    That is working fine.
    The other action is defined as an "SQL Statement Script".
    The SQL script inserts the variables defined in the SQL from the main Alert definition SQL, into a custom table.
    When the Alert fires, we are getting the email generated, but the INSERT statement isn't firing.
    However, when we look at the result of the Alert when it has run, and look at the steps which were fired, we can see the email step and the SQL step. When we look at the SQL in the SQL step which was generated, we can copy and paste it direct into TOAD and it works fine.
    We have tried a simple SQL INSERT statement which even just does:
    INSERT INTO xx_tmp (VALUE1_DATE, VALUE2) VALUES (SYSDATE, 'this');
    But even that does not work.
    We wonder if the issue is that we cannot do a direct INSERT from an alert type of "SQL Statement Script"?
    We have found another Alert which does a direct UPDATE on a table, but the SQL Statement Script definition has "Purchasing" as the Application, because it's updating a PO table.
    In our case, we're trying to insert into a custom table held in our in-house XX schema.
    Could the problem be that we don't have the "Application" set? If that's the case, we don't have a corresponding application anyway.
    Or can we not do a direct INSERT like this - do we need to use a package instead, and call that?
    Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Brian,
    Alert issue - Custom SQL fix
    1. Define actions via "Actions" button on Alert Definition
    2. Create an action for e.g. "Send Message to Supervisor"
       Action type: message
       Action - sends email to people
    3. Create another action called e.g. "Insert Record"
       Action type: SQL Statement Script
       Fill in SQL in the "Text" section, no need to add a begin or end bit, just a simple INSERT INTO X etc ending with a semi colon
    4. Back on the main alert definition window, go to "Action Sets" button
       Here, need one SEQ for the Message / Email (e.g. Seq 1), and then click on "Action Set Details" and click on "Members" tab and select the "Send Message to Supervisor" Action
       Then close the "Action Set Details" window, and return to the "Action Sets" window
       click into 2nd line, add e.g. Seq 2, and call it e.g. "Insert Record", click on "Action Set Details" > Members tab and select the "Insert Record" The problem was that in the first instance, we had a single Action Set, and under "Members" had selected the "Send Message to Supervisor" and "Insert Record" at the same time.
    Short answer: each Action needs to be defined as a separate line in the Action Sets definition.

  • Script to Stop and Start Oracle Meter Data Management

    Hi,
    This is my first post in Oracle forums so if i open this in the wrong thread please forgive me.
    I tried to create a windows batch script to stop and start Oracle Meter Data Management but i can´t.
    @echo off
    D:\spl\MDMDEV\bin\splenviron.cmd -e MDMDEV
    D:\spl\MDMDEV\bin\spl.cmd stop
    D:\spl\MDMDEV\bin\splenviron.cmd -e MDMDEV
    D:\spl\MDMDEV\bin\spl.cmd stop
    The batch exits in the first command and i can´t understand why.
    Another thing is if i use spl.cmd stop command it doesn´t do nothing, is this normal?
    Thanks in advanced for all replies.
    Best Regards.
    Nuno

    I had to put a call command in mine. I think it is because you are trying to run a .cmd file within your bat file. You're actually changing shells. Thats why you need the call.
    call d:\spl\mdmdev\bin\splenviron.cmd -e mdmdev
    call d:\spl\mdmdev\bin\spl.cmd start
    I actually set mine up to use variables so all I had to change from script to script was the environment...
    <snip>
    SET SPLENV=MDMDEV
    SET INSTALLDRIVE=D:
    SET INSTALLDIR=SPL
    SET BINDIR=%INSTALLDRIVE%\%INSTALLDIR%\%SPLENV%\bin
    %INSTALLDRIVE%
    cd %BINDIR%
    REM Set envornment
    call %BINDIR%\splenviron.cmd -e %SPLENV%
    REM Wait a few seconds for environment to setup
    ping localhost -n 5 > nul
    REM Start SPL Web
    call %BINDIR%\spl.cmd start
    </snip>
    I was unable to find a way to get this to run as a service. Have you?
    I'm currently running these scripts in the startup/shutdown script section of the local machine policy (gpedit.msc).

  • Oracle 8i to MS SQL Server replication

    Im new to Oracle, but a MS SQL Server DBA. Im helping in the architecture of a data warehouse that pulls from some disparate sources, including Oracle 8i, into a SQL Server 2000 box. We could use batch processing to pull updated data from the Oracle database to populate our data warehouse, but we were hoping to get real-time transactional processing via some replication scenario. My terminology may be wrong from the Oracle perspective, but I think the transactional replication that SQL Server supports is called synchronous replication in Oracle. My question is, does anybody know how to do synchronous replication from an Oracle server to a SQL Server? Or perhaps which Oracle product supports it? Thanks!

    ===========================================================
    I'm working on the similar requirements, exactly my source DB is DB2, and the target DB is Oracle. I have two year experience with Oracle, but I know nothing about DB2. There a about 50 tables in source DB. Transactions on source DB is not too heavy(less than 10/Second), and the mainfram are all powerful.
    I've though about Oracle Gateway, but I'd rather save it as the backup solution. For one thing, neither co-workers nor I have experience with it. Second, I'm afraid the Gateway performance would not be satisfactory. Furthermore, words has it that we should pay for the Gateway. So My ideas to real-time replication of the two DB is as following:
    (1) use trigger in DB2 to reponse to immediate transactions in source DB;
    (2) use Embedded C/SQL to extract those transactions into flat files;
    (3) FTP files to the target server;
    (4) On target server, SHELL scripts read the files and call Pro*C to apply the transactions into Oracle DB.
    but, some problems really get me.
    A: in step(1) and (2), How to set EC to do its work in reponse to trigger? I know that one can call host script in Oracle trigger, but I have no idea about DB2 trigger. Maybe, I can create a real-time monitoring EC process to address it. what's your opinion?
    B: I should maintain all transaction metadata by myself. e.g. INSERT, UPDATE old/new data, DELETE info. It is originally covered by the database, and it isn't easy to handle it squarely.
    C: How to address some exception? like database rollback, the process recovery in case of any interruptions in the above steps.
    Could you share me some idea, Thank you!

  • Disaster Recovery Scripts for Managed Server MSI Startup

    I am trying to get some custom start scripts created for each of my managed servers in the event the admin console is down or server gets hosed. We use nodemanager to start the managed servers in a Windows environment. I have about 8 managed servers and they all use the same nodemanager classpath but all have different server start arguments (different memory settings, etc....) so I need to make different custom scripts for each.

    Hi,
    Configuration: Weblogic 8.1SP2 on Windows 2000, 1 admin server and 14
    managed
    servers
    whats the right way from these 2 scenarious to create a domain on managed
    server
    1. create domain on managed server using configuration wizard. Then point
    to this
    domain from administration server remote start tab(root directory). This
    is what
    we do so far.This is the best way to create managed servers for your domain.
    >
    2. Just enter user_projects/domains folder/$domain name$ in remote start
    tab(root
    directory)
    on admin server console and when you start the managed server from
    admin console
    the domain folder and files will be created.
    Yes, the managed server is started in this case at the root directory you specified.
    The difference is in the
    1. first case we see all scripts like startManagedWeblogic, setenv, boot.properties
    etc
    this may help(we still dont know) if one wants to bring up managed
    server
    manually using
    startManagedServer.bat without using node manager.Yes, that is correct. You will need to edit the startManagedServer.bat to include
    the admin server URL, username and paswword..
    >
    2. second case only 2-3 files get created like msi-config.xml and SerializedSystemIni.dat
    Basically first case is superset of second case.
    What is the experience of people in this regard?
    thanks much

    There are posts on the OLAP forum covering this problem. Anthony Waite from the OLAP Product Management team has provided the following information:
    e new, default Model View in AWM 10.1.0.4.0 is based upon the OLAP Analytic Workspace API (a.k.a. AW/XML). Just to recap and further clarify my earlier post, you must pass the following requirements in order to use it:
    1) Be sure to be using the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle Database 10g.
    SQL> select banner from v$version where banner like 'Oracle%';
    You should see Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition.
    2) Be sure to have the Data Warehouse database configuration or the OLAP Option enabled.
    SQL> select parameter, value from v$option where parameter='OLAP';
    You should see OLAP TRUE.
    3) Be sure that the RDBMS 10.1.0.4 patch set has been completely installed. Users often miss the required Post-Installation Steps such as running catpatch.sql.
    SQL> select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry;
    You should see VALID and 10.1.0.4.0 for the OLAP components.
    4) The Oracle Database must have the compatibility mode of 10.1 to use the Model View as it relies on the unique features found in Oracle Database 10g.
    SQL> select name, value, description from v$parameter where name ='compatible';
    You should see 10.1, not 9.2 or earlier.
    5) Please refer to the patchnote.htm that is bundled with 10.1.0.4.0 patch set. Only you are aware of what type of database configuration you have. You will want to pay close attention to "7.2.1.3 Set the SHARED_POOL_SIZE and JAVA_POOL_SIZE Initialization Parameters" and "7.2.2 Upgrade the Release 10.1 Database".
    Basically, I believe you have missed these required steps after installing the 10.1.0.4.0 patch set from the OUI: (pasted from the patchnote.htm)

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to find docs/procedures for installing Analytic Workspace Manager. We have Oracle 10 Enterprise version on IBM AIX p6.
    Question really is what do we need to do install Analytic Workspace Manager to create cubes.
    I am not a sys DBA of oracle, can I do something without asking the DBA's help ?
    Before you yell at me :P, please know that I am very new to Oracle (aprt from developing SQL, PL/SQL scripts) /
    Youe help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,

    AWM is a client tool and you can install on your desktop without any DBA help. URL below is a good starting point to download and use the tool.

  • Oracle Retail Distribution Management detail application log.

    Hi guys, where can I find the detail logs of the Oracle Retail Distribution Management application apart from the error_log and error_message_to_upload tables. I mean to say as an application it is supposed to log messages in the application server in some flat file?

    Hi,
    ORWMS(ORDM) is a bit of a sh*tty application re. logging, the shells scripts with embedded SQL or PLSQL are great in not recording any logging for status or errors.
    Seems almost to be a required customization to bring these scripts to an enterprise application level of instrumentation by adding some redirects etc.
