Oracle spatial feature is working in 10g stadard edition

hi
is it working oracle spatial features in oracle stadard edition
thanks

Locator, a subset of Spatial, is a feature of the Standard Edition.
The white paper available from the Spatial page on OTN has further details.

    Hi,
Start with the documentation on the Oracle web site. This will depend on the version you plan to explore. Take a look at http://www.oracle.com/database/spatial.html .
There is also an excellent book which can be got from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Spatial-Database-Experts-Voice/dp/1590598997/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231752852&sr=1-1

  • Oracle Spatial-MetaData Standards(Like FGDC Standards,Others Standards)

    Hi to All,
Is Oracle Spatial Supports MetaData Standards(Like FGDC Standards) or it Supports any Metadata Standards,
If Supports Pl. tell me How can import into Oracle Spatial Feature.
    Pl. Provide Information Regarding this.
    Regards,
    ChandraKishore.B &
    RamaKrishna.Vangipurapu.

    Hi ChandraKishore,
The answer is NO as far as I know. Neither the SDO_GEOMETRY object nor the ST_GEOMETRY OGC object natively carry along with it any metadata of any standard. Its just a container for the geometry and tools for working with those containers. You either need to implement something like ArcSDE which can tie together your metadata with each layer or craft a similar system yourself. Its not that intense of a task, you just have a separate table with a record for each layer in your database with the metadata stored either as a CLOB or an XMLTYPE. Then you need to manage the table to make sure it stays up to date with the GIS data in your database.
Its an interesting question though. Oracle has a conceptual dividing line between what they do and what they expect third parties and/or users to do. I think its safe to say that Oracle provides the technology for the storage and manipulation of spatial data but not the documentation of that same spatial data.
If anyone thinks I got that wrong, please jump in.
    Paul

  • Information over Oracle Spatial

    Hi,
I understand that Oracle Spatial is a special feature in a database to store spatial and geographical informtion.
Correct me if I am wrong.
From the OTN site, where can I found documentation about the Oracle Spatial feature, and the related tools to create/edit spatia/geographicall iinformation? I understood that there is also a MapViewer tool...
I have not find it in downloads -> database or download -> middleware.
Is it maybe part of a bundle?
Does someone has experience with these products and features?
    Thanks and Regards.

Thanks for asking about said problem.
Actually i can Import data (User level and table level ONLY) from the *.dmp file.

  • Oracle Spatial 10g

    Hello all
I would like to know if is it possible to install the 10g Spatial functionality in a previous version of the database (8.1.7).
We want to work with Oracle Spatial + ArcSDE (with versioning and Spatial as Geometry Storage) + ArcGIS-ArcIMS, but the editing software will be AutoCAD.
We will get from the database those elements whe want to edit and put it then in AutoCAD layers . To limit the traffic, we only need the geographic primitives (points and arc, but no polygons), but as we are editing polygons, we need a process that rebuild topology. I think that the new Oracle Spatial 10 g topological functionalities could help us (so we can insert arcs in a table and get the polygons they are building, and dangle arcs).
I suppose it will not be possible to edit directly to the geodatabase feature class if it is versioned (so all the changes will appear as consolidated), but, is it possible (and of course, easy) to rebuild via SQL an ArcSDE version?
    And finally:
Can (and how) we use Oracle WorkSpace Manager whit ArcSDE??? , and only with AutoCAD? Any experience? I´m thinking about spatial index and mdsys metadata table. Must be these tables registered as "versioned" with Oracle WorkSpace Manager to work with spatial data?
    Thank you for all
    Jesús de Diego

    Hello all again
First of all, thank you for your quick reply.
I can explain a bit more what we wanna do:
we're in a multi-platform environ. We've ArcGIS users, AutoCAD users and a ArcSDE DB. We don't want AutoCAD users to migrate to ArcEditor, but they need to edit corporative (DB) data, and, in the other hand, there will be others editors using ArcEditor capabilities, so it is possible we will need versioned (ArcSDE) data.
I think we can edit an ArcSDE version vía AutoCAD:
1º Data storage will be Oracle Spatial.
2º A new version over the default will be created.
3º When an AutoCAD editor request spatial data, we can, vía SQL, get the sdo_geometry (here is when i need to rebuild a complete version....)
4º We load these spatial data into diferents layer in a dwg (in we can get only the geographic primitives, this will be faster)
5º CAD users edit the information and when they finish, load arc and points (lables) into 2 temporal tables, when arcCatalog can rebild polygon topology ....
6º Once polygons have been rebuilded, can be sended to AutoCAD again so Oracle Spatial SQL queries can be used in AutoCAD against the DB.
7º Finally, could we insert the new records into A and D tables?, and how? using simply SQL (again we need to rebuild a version....)
    I'm all ears.......
    Thank you again

  • Oracle Spatial for XE 10g / APEX 3.1

I am working with the "2 Day + Developer's Guide" on my Oracle 10g XE / APEX 3.1 installation. There are the OEHR sample objects... the guide says that I need to install "Oracle Spatial" first:
"Tip: In order to successfully import the objects associated with the
OEHR Sample Objects application, your Oracle database must include
Oracle Spatial. If your database instance does not include Oracle
Spatial, you can install it using Database Configuration Assistant. To
learn more, see the Oracle Database Installation Guide for your operating
    environment." (page 27, 3-5)
Does 10g XE already includes Spatial? I couldn't find it in the Oracle downloads section :-/
Maybe my installation doesn't have Spatial since I can't install the OEHR sample objects: Problems installing the OEHR sample objects application
    Thanks a lot!

Does 10g XE already includes Spatial?XE supports only Locator, which is a subset of Spatial.
The Locator is described in detail here:http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14255/sdo_locator.htm#i632018

  • Oracle Spatial 10g R2 Java API

    Hi All,
I have a JAVA tool said to be written for Oracle Spatial 10g R2 Java API which uses for example the class oracle.spatial.georaster.JGeoRaster. I have to port it to 11g R2. The tool is definitely written for an earlier version, because compilation fails on for example JGeoRaster.getProperties() method which is not present in the new API. For this new API I have a fine Javadoc documentation here:
    http://download-llnw.oracle.com/docs/html/E11829_01/
I have searched for a similar one for 10g R2 but found only like
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14373/toc.htm
which misses the oracle.spatial.georaster package. Is there such a package and if so, where can I find docs for it?
thank you in advance, best regards: Balázs Bámer

    Hi Balázs,
the GeoRaster Java API was first released with 11gR2. Your first link points to that, or this link:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e11829/toc.htm
your second link points to 10g Oracle Spatial Java API, which doesn't include any GeoRaster related API. your tool might have been developed based on the old INTERNAL georaster jar file, which is not supposed to be used by your java program. But if you do want the api doc, you can run javadoc or jdeveloper to find out the api from the old sdogr.jar file.

  • Oracle 10G Express Edition No Oracle Spatial

I have been test driving 10G Express Edition. I tried to create our schema in it only to find that the mdsys.sdo_geometry datatype is unknown. It looks like Oracle Spatial is not part of Express Edition. Can anyone confirm?
    SEVERE: Unsuccessful: create table ASSET_REFERENCE (ASSET_REFERENCE_ID number(19,0) not null, ASSET_NAME varchar2(256 char), ASSET_URI varchar2(256 char), SPATIAL_EXTENT mdsys.sdo_geometry, START_DATE timestamp, END_DATE timestamp, COORD_SYS_WKS varchar2(256 char), primary key (ASSET_REFERENCE_ID))
    [hibernatetool] Nov 21, 2005 7:56:50 PM org.hibernate.tool.hbm2ddl.SchemaExport create
    [hibernatetool] SEVERE: ORA-00902: invalid datatype

Oracle Spatial is an option for Enterprise Edition. It is not even available for Standard Edition and Express Edition is a subset of Standard Edition
Related - interMedia requires Java and that is not in Express. Although the Locator subset does not use Java, it is part of interMedia and therefore is also not in Express.
We are asking Oracle to reconsider and add Locator, and possibly add Java as a post-install option.

  • Oracle 10g Express Edition doesn't works on Win SBS 2011

    Deutsch
    Hallo zusammen!
    Vielen Dank vorab!

    Hello at all!
I’ve some problems with the installation of Oracle 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0. At first i must take the old version of Oracle, because the program which needs Oracle ist very “sensitive” and i fear this program doesn’t cope with the new version.
So i install the version 10g on a server with Windows SBS 2011 Essentials SP1 64-Bit. Unfortunately i don't get an access to the localhost 127.0.0.1:8080/apex. I try it with IE and Firefox.
My question is does Oracle 10g works on Windows SBS 2011 64-bit and if yes, is there any setting to do on Windows to get the an access to 127.0.0.1:8080/apex?
    Thank!

does Oracle 10g works on Windows SBS 2011 64-bitYou can see supported OSes in System Requirements for Windows platforms.
As always, not certified does not necessarily mean it won't work, but if you have problems...

  • Creating an Oracle Spatial database in 10g and connecting ArcGIS

I have a set of shapefiles that I want to convert into Oracle Spatial 10g and then be able to view these with the capability of ArcGIS 9 (without using ArcSDE).
From what I've read, I think this could be done by using ODBC. Once that connection is made, will I then be able to use the full functionality of ArcGIS especially read/write functions to edit the information in Oracle Spatial?
What data formats does Oracle Spatial in 10g support. I am concerned about raster data, CAD data, Survey data etc

The shape files can be loaded into Oracle spatial using shp2sdo.exe available on web.To view the GIS data in ArcGIS ,ArcGIS needs the layers to be registered. Therefore you need Arcsde for registering the layers. But for viewing the data in Arcgis we do not need arcsde ,we can view the data using direct connect. For editing the data we can use ODBC connection.
About raster data,we can load tiff, jpeg, bmp, png, gif using georaster tools provided by oracle into georaster tables.
    Thanks
