Oracle: SQL Workshop needs the SYSTEM MESSAGE to show up..

Hi Oracle Dev Team,
We have 3-4 environments as most of us do...
DEV, TEST, UAT, PROD
When I am in UAT SQL Workshop and then get distracted from phone call etc
I come back and start working on a DEV issue BUT I forget I am in UAT.
The SYSTEM MESSAGE shows up when you go to SQL Workshop area but when you go into the SQL Workshop > SQL Commands window its gone.
also the other windows as well:
Object Browser
SQL Commands
SQL Scripts
Query Builder
Utilities
Any way to distinguish between environments?
Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill,
We follow a standard for 'Developer Usernames' in our workplace. We always post fix environment details to our user names, like BILL_DEV, BILL_UAT etc. So if you follow similar standard, you can always point out in which environment you are, just by seeing the welcome message at upper-right corner of your screen. It's not the technical solution, but still it will serve your purpose.
You may check-out "Background Image depending on Connection" section in following site, if it might help.

  • How to display oracl.sql.NUMBER in the debugger?

    Hi,
I would like to use oracle.sql.NUMBER for various reasons.
Unfortunately, I found no way to display in the JDev debugger
the actual VALUE that is represented by an oracle.sql.NUMBER object.
Is this really not possible or am I missing something here?
    Thanks for any hints.
    Marcel

    Hi Steven,
I get the following warnings and errors if I use oracle.jbo.domain.Number
    in a SQLJ-Class (using JDev 3.1.1.2):
Warning: (39) Invalid CustomDatum implementation in oracle.jbo.domain.Number:
    missing the factory method getFactory.
    Error: (39) Nicht unterst|tzter Java-Typ f|r Host-Element SeqNr (bei Position #1):
    oracle.jbo.domain.Number..
    Error: (66) Nicht unterst|tzter Java-Typ f|r Host-Element SeqNr (bei Position #1):
    oracle.jbo.domain.Number..
I translate the last two error-messages to english:
Unsupported Java-type for host item SeqNr (at Position #1)
    So now I am caught, I can't debug with oracle.sql.NUMBER, and I can't compile
    with oracle.jbo.domain.Number.
Anyway, could you please convince the JDev-debugger team that the oracle.sql.NUMBER
needs to be displayed in the debugger as nice as its jbo twin. Without this
capability, this class is (at least for me) nearly useless.
    Thank you for your support.

  • Display Database Instance Name in the System Message

    Greetings,
I am looking for a way to display the database instance name on each page in the Application Builder. Using the System Message would work for me and I can hard code the instance name, but I was wondering if there is a variable that I can specify that will accomplish the same thing.
    Thanks a lot,
    Larry

    Hi Tony,
I did find that plug-in during my investigation. Some of the plugins sound interesting but I hesitate to anything to the base APEX install since I am not sure if this will affect supportability from Oracle if something goes wrong later on. Do you know if these plug-ins can be installed/deinstalled without affecting the base APEX install? There is also something called ApexLib which looks interesting. Do people use this? Any idea if it is still supported? I checked the forums and noticed there is not much recent activity. I wonder if it has been abandoned.
    Hi Ashish,
I do have the application displaying the current environment. I set it up using Page 0 as you suggested. It works great. In fact, I have set up an 'About' page that grabs information from the WWV_FLOWS table which will display information about the current application. Here is my query:
    SELECT ALIAS
         , AUTHENTICATION
         , CREATED_BY
         , to_char(CREATED_ON,'mm/dd/yyyy hh24:mi:ss')
         , DATE_FORMAT
         , DISPLAY_ID
         , FLOW_VERSION
         , ID
         , LAST_UPDATED_BY
         , to_char(LAST_UPDATED_ON,'mm/dd/yyyy hh24:mi:ss')
         , NAME
         , OWNER
         , PUBLIC_USER
      FROM apex_040000.wwv_flows
    where ID = :APP_ID;
    select substr(global_name || '.' ,1,instr(global_name || '.' ,'.') -1)
      into :P999_DATABASE
from global_name;I use GLOBAL_NAME to get the database SID instead of v$instance so I don't have to grant special privileges on v$instance.
If you find a way to grab the database SID from a query and put it in the System Message field, please let me know. In the interim, I have hard coded this in the System Message field.
    <span style="padding:10px 20px 10px 20px; font-weight:bolder ;font-size:1.2em; background:#D96E1C;color:white">Development: TheInstanceName</span>Not exactly what I want, but it will get the job done.
    Thanks for all your help,
    Larry

    Hi all,
My requirment is to diaplay the system message when user login for the maintenance purpose, In SM02 i created a message but it is not working for evary time login, It is displaying only  one time, suppose i logoff and again loging message is displaying.
Please tell me how to display system message evary time when user login.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Thanks&Regards
    RP

    Hi,
To display system message every time when user login : use the
    Enhancement        SUSR0001
Short text              User exit after logon to SAP System
You also get the Example Code here.
    And the Documentation is :
Every dialog user passes through this function module after logon. Yo
can use this to execute individual customer checks here and send
    messages to the user.
Do not log off the user and also try to avoid too many dialog boxes.

  • Why my mac air don't support the dock library version 1.0, if this needs the system mac os x 10.5 or higher, and my is os x 10.7.5?

Why my mac air don't support the dock library version 1.0, if this needs the system mac os x 10.5 or higher, and my is os x 10.7.5?

For Snow Leopard you require version 2.1.4. However AFAIK you can't buy this from Apple any more: the current version requires Lion 10.7.5 at minimum.
Amazon are offering v.2.1.1 in the UK - this is not compatible with Snow Leopard either but you should be able to apply an upgrade to 2.1.4. -
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL913
I can't guarantee this will work. You may be able to get advice in the Aperture forum.
Your only other alternative is to upgrade your Mac to Lion 10.7.5 if it us compatible, and buy the current version.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.

I have changed my AppleID but I can't get the "system preferrences" to show my new AppleID.  What am I doing wrong?  I am running 10.9.2.  I support multiple devices on this icloud account and they all work fine.  Its just the mac mini ...

I found a post with the answer.  Basically I just logged out of the iCloud.  My concern was that I would loose my contacts.   But when i logged back in with the correct AppleID -- it was all there.
    Thanks!

  • Oracle SQL Developer  error - "The file-based source procedure Name is not present in the database."

I recently started working on the Oracle SQL developer. I have 'select' privileges on the QA schema and when tried to execute proc in QA. It is giving the error as 'The file-based source <procedure Name>  is not present in the database.  Was it compiled?'
instead 'you do not have sufficient privileges to execute this procedure'. Did research on internet but with no luck. What configuration changes needed to be done to make it work.Guide me.

Sounds like you do not have the correct privileges.  What should have been granted to you by the QA user, or some other user with appropriate privileges, is...
    grant EXECUTE on "QA"."<PROCEDURE_OF_INTEREST>" to "<YOUR_USERID>" ;
Note that a grant of execute on a procedure has nothing to do with grants of select on some or all of QA's tables and views.
So, as Vadim suggests, from your connection node in SQL Developer's Connections view, if you expand the Other Users node, then expand QA and look in the Procedures node, do you see the procedure of interest?  If not, you cannot expect to be able to execute it from your userid's connection. And even if you do see it, you may have some other privilege that permits viewing but not executing, like...
    The role SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE
The system privilege SELECT ANY DICTIONARY
And even if you do not see it there, then having certain other privileges granted to you could permit executing it in general, like...
    The role EXECUTE_CATALOG_ROLE
The system privilege EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE
Also, note that the 3.0 release is a bit dated nowadays. Upgrading to 4.0.3 production or even the 4.1 EA2 (early adopter) release will, in general, give you a better experience.
    Best wishes,
    Gary

  • Oracle SQL Developer needs some work

I just downloaded a copy today (1557) for Oracle 9.2i / Windows XP Pro
Oracle SQL Developer has a few glitches...
A compiled and working package (compiled in SQL*Plus and TOAD) opens and shows 2 errors in a SQL Query involving a CASE statement. Invalid CASE clause on an ELSE and unexpected token on an alias at the end of the case.
Compiling a package should display a message saying successfully compiled and the state of a package should always be on display!
Opened an SQL script but could not execute it as the icon's didn't become active.
    Couldn't then run the script.
These basic problems would put any serious developer off using Oracle SQL Developer.
Also background color scheme should be gray and NOT white. White is hard on the eyes. This is just basic UI stuff.
Oracle, you need more senoir developers!

Justified to the top left of the sql window, you see the execute buttons. On the top right, you will see a drop down list box. After opening a file, this drop down list box is not selected. Select your connection and the execute buttons on the top left will enable.
For PL/SQL use a slash / at the end for it to execute.

  • Oracle SQL Newbie need help with OE Demo Schema Installation

    Hello everybody !
I'm hoping some kind soul can help out this SQL newbie.
First of all i've installed 10g R2 database on a PC running XP SP2.
Oracle is installed on the root C: drive
I'm using the SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide and DBA Handbook (Both Oracle Press)
    as my reference.
    My problem is this.
I installed the DB and created the demo HR schema without too much problem
but it's the demo OE schema i'm having problems getting running and cannot
find anywhere on the net that outlines a step by step SQL process.
I am using SQL Plus to execute these commands.
    My questions are these:
-For the default tablespace i specify "users" ?
-What do i specify for the temporary tablespace ? "temp" ?
-what directory path do i put for the data files as parameter 6 ?
    I put down "C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\demo\schema\order_entry" but i suspect it's
    the wrong thing ?
-What do i specify for the writable directory path for the log files ?
    Is it C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\RDBMS\log
-And what is "Specify version as parameter 8:" line ?
I assumed it was the db version but i believe it's wrong.
Could somebody please help me ? I've already done my CCNA and i wanted to add oracle under my belt.
I know if i had these few things cleared up for me it would pave the way to actually enjoying learning Oracle :)
Thank you for any assistance :)

I installed the DB products from the companion disk and there was no specific mention of the demo schemas. Regardless... They're all there within the demo subfolder and have already created the hr schema.. I just need somebody (I'll pay if necessary) to PLEASE just answer (what would be easy to you guys my questions so i can move on.

You can use this table only for certain message numbers defined by SAP,You cannot use this for any other message numbers.

  • Dose oracle.sql.ArrayDescriptor support the user defined type in package?

    Hi folks:
I get a obstacle in calling stored procedure by using JDBC driver (ojdbc14.jar).
    I have the following code:
create or replace package xxx AS
    type var_table is table of varchar2(50);
    procedure(parameter in var_table);
    end xxx;
When I use the jdbc driver try to create a type for
    oracle.sql.ArrayDescriptor arrayDes = oracle.sql.ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor( "var_table ",connection);
The SQLException is thrown out like those:
    Invalid name pattern:user_schema. var_table
So, my question is : Dose oracle.sql.ArrayDescriptor not support the user defined type in package? And I also tried to define such type by using sql "create xxxx" outside of package, then there is no SQLException.
Hopefully for your response and suggestion.Thanks...

To my knowledge, the Oracle JDBC driver does not support using the ArrayDescriptor for array data types (varray or nested table) that are defined inside of a package. The same is true for StructDescriptor as well. If you want to use array and object data types, you must define them outside of a package. Then you'll be able to use the descriptors in your JDBC programs.

  • Why does the System message-"Customer Num of customer is on hold" appear

    Hi,
I created a UDO form with a field named “Customer Code” that represents a code of a customer.
Pressing TAB over the field enables to choose a customer from a list.
The list is based on Choose From List system object.
When I choose a customer, who is on hold, I get a system message:
“Customer <Number of customer> is on hold. Changes cannot be saved. Do you want to proceed?”
This message is irrelevant because the purpose of the form is searching and displaying data.
Why does this message appear, and how can I avoid it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Shai.

Maybe, just after you select the customer from the choose from list, and just before you show it in you form, thus, making the msgbox appear, you can check if the bp is frozen and manage to click in the ok button of the msgbox using UI api....
                       Hope it helps,
