Oracle SSL or Third Party

We are in the process of implementing an online store using OAS (10g Rel 2) and Oracle Forms (10gRel2) application that we built from the ground up.
We are curious to know wha is most widely used/accepted in this scenario: Oracle SSL, which the user/customer must trust us, or using a thrid party's SSL like VeriSign? We will be processing Credit Cards.
Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Mika

Oracle's SSL implementation, like any other SSL implementation, accepts any complaint Private Key and Certificate chain. You can buy a certificate for your private key from any certification authority. With CACert.org you even have a free one.
But remember, SSL only secures the transport level between two hosts, everything might be open. Using SSL is a basic requirement for a secure environment, but doesn't make your environment secure.

  • SSL with third party certificate

    Hi All,
    I followed the configuration mentioned in the white paper
    Oracle Forms Services 10g: Configuring Transport Layer Security with SSL An Oracle White Paper July 2005 (frm10gss.pdf). That is working fine.
    I have a third party certificate (file format - .der, I got .cer from that).
    With this certificate i need to configure the Application Server 10g. For this certificate i didn't created certificate request and sent to the third party.
    In the steps motioned in the frm10gss.pdf where i have to make changes to include the third party certificate and not to consider the default oracle OCA certificate. Or with that Certificate how can i configure the SSL.
    Any suggestions please…

  • SSL - Installing Third party secure certificates

    Hi,
    I am having problem while importing third party secured certificates (Verisign).
    In STRUST, after import It was still saying Self-Signed message for third party certificates. I am not sure weather this is correct behavior or not.
    After launch browser, the certificate status showing with message
    "This CA Root certificate is not trusted because it is not in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store."
    Please help me to solve this issue. Any other procedure we need to follow to import third party certificates
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Srinivas

    I'm guessing, you'll need to download the Verisign Trusted Root CA certificate from verisign.com and import it into your certificate list in STRUSTSSO2. Under the System PSE node.
    If you doubeclick the response certificate from Verisign, you may be able to see what is heirarchy / trust chain for verisign certs. If it's more than just root, cert, you'll probably need to add the intermediate certs too. Check out verisign link, maybe it'll explain better.
    https://www.verisign.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/page_dev028341.html
    Also is the self signed message on teh SSL Server PSE node, or the server node? it shouldn't say self-signed if it's the (as example below) sapserver_sid_00 node.
    SSL Server
       |_  sapserver_sid_00
    Hope that helps.

  • OAB interfcaing with Oracle Payroll and Third party Payroll Systems

    Hi,
    I would like to know the things to take care when OAB interface with a third party Payroll(esp. ADP Payroll).
    I know that the deductions are sent using the Benefit Elements which in turn connected with Rates for options/plans.
    My questions are related to
    1. How OAb would be able to get information like How many pay periods are pending(For calculating deductions for plans like FSA)
    and
    2. How the reconciliation work between OAB and the third party system(Like ADP Payforce)
    Appreciate if you can share some thoughts
    thanks

    user644268,
    Depends on your exact requirements whether this attendance system is for the absense capture or work time logging. You need to be specific when putting up a scenario.

  • Oracle Drive and third party WebDAV

    After testing Oracle CS I tried to integrate an existing WebDAV server using ODrive.
    This results in an error pointing out that the server is not listed in the "supported servers list". Is there a way to extend this list?
    Kind Regards
    Felix

    This is not possible. Since there may be implementation variations across WebDAV servers,only select list of servers are certified with O-Drive.This list cannot be changed by end-user.
    Hope this helps,

  • SSL from Third party CA

    We purchased a certificate from Equifax (geotrust). We have imported the certificate into our keystore and configured the server.xml to point to the keystore and alias for the certificate. When we restart the Tomcat.exe service we receive the error below

    does anybody have any clue as to what this could be. I have never worked with java security before. In a nutshell, how can we make the certificate we purchased from Equifax work within the java security?

    It would help to diagnose your issues if you can set the system property javax.net.debug to the value all, for example by adding this option to the java launcher: -Djavax.net.debug=all. Then post the output.

  • Need connectivity of SAP Oracle with Third Party tool with dsn

    Hi Friends,
    We need to access SAP's Oracle database with third party tool with the help of dsn creation. For that we need to create 2 staging tables and need a new segment for these tables. Our data will move from SAP transactions to these 2 tables and we want to fetch this data via dsn into another third party S/W.
    I am unaware of such kind of working, can you please help me how to create new segment and how to create dsn for accessing tables in this segment.
    Our requirement is as follow.
    The staging tables are required in the SAP database with user name and password. The user should have all access to the staging table only.
    Requesting your kind help on this issue. Please suggest for further processing of activity.
    Rgds, Krishan Raheja.

    Hi,
    Common way to integrate SAP (database) with third party Application is to use and implement SAP Connector (Java or .Net).
    Using this, you can fetch the data from SAP database to use it in Third party application.
    As per my understanding the method you mentioned, will void the SAP database license term.
    So Please check before doing such configuraiton. Also that method is NOT recommended..
    Regards.

  • Oracle Quality Itegration with Third party application

    We are trying to build the interface between EBS Oracle quality and third party application for Non conformances and dispositions.  Currently there is no business events or public APIs available for publishing  quality data out from EBS to third party. Please suggest the latest trends available for Integration of quality with external application using service base integration.

    Hello Sandeep,
    have you looked at these docs for Fusion Apps Financials / ERP Cloud?
    - Implementing Tax -- http://docs.oracle.com/cloud/latest/financialscs_gs/FAITX/toc.htm
    - Using Tax -- http://docs.oracle.com/cloud/latest/financialscs_gs/FAUTX/toc.htm
    The "Implementing Tax" contains a chapter about integrations with 3rd party providers. Is this what you are looking for?  If not, could you clarify what you mean by "integration with 3rd party applications"?
    Thanks,

  • Third party software to AP

    Hi,
    We are using 11.5.9. I haven't used finance modules so far.
    We are having a third party software which has different modules like Inventory, Sales, POS, Purchase, Payables, Receivables etc.
    We would like to have the inventory/Sales/POS/Purchase details in oracle AP. For these, what are all the things to be considered like the below one:
    1) COA between oracle and third party software should be matched.
    2) Customers id and supplier id defined in oracle apps should be matched with third party software. If not matched, how can we map these to the previous data?
    3) What are all the APIs to be used in order to pull data from third party software into oracle payables.
    4) How can we export data from oracle AP into third party software? I mean, is there any basket where we can put our oracle AP data, so that this would be pulled by third party software.
    Like these, I would like to know , Is there any points/consideration to be noted before doing interface.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Calling Apex Page from third party

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement where I need to integrate Oracle Apex with third party application.
    In the third party application, I have to create a link and on the click of the link have to open the APEX application page in another window.
    Here the username and password needs to be sent through the link itself and user should not be asked to enter the login details.
    Can anyone guide me how this can be achieved?
    Regards,
    Arvind

    Hi Jonivdb,
    Thanks for your reply. I think you have understood my problem. I am new in Apex and there is one link by which I can login into Apex.
    The link which I used is to connect Apex from html page is using action as "http://site/pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept" with method type "post".
    Now my problem is I have to pass username and password as hidden parameters. Client do not want to pass username and password in this format.
    What they wanted is to encrypt it at there side and the wanted us to decrypt it. My problem is I do not have any idea How to customize "wv_flow.accept" method or URL.
    Any help would be really useful.

    emctl secure oms -trust_certs_loc <loc of trusted_certs.txt>

    I have a third party certificate from GEOTRUST. I have downloaded the Root CA certificate from GEOTRUST and placed them both in a file called trusted_certs.txt
    I have also imported both certificates in Oracle Wallet Manager. I can see the details within OWM and they are correct.
    I followed instructions in metalink How to provide HTTPS browser access to the Grid Control Console using a third party certificate? [ID 736103.1]
    When I view the certificate from IE after 'opmnctl startall', the cert is from grid control not GEOTRUST.
    It seems like the 'emctl secure oms ...' overwrites the wallet in $OMS_HOME/sysman/wallets/oms_hostname
    SSL is a part of Oracle's Best Practices for Grid Control but has anyone gotten it to work?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How Do You Generate a 2048bit CSR for a Third Party SSL Certificate for LMS 4.0.1?

    Our site requires Third Party SSL certificates to be installed on our servers.  We have an agreement with inCommon. I have to supply a CSR in order to obtain the SSL certificate.
    My installation is on a Windows 2008 server and I had the self-signed CSR already but it is only 1024 bits.  Is there someplace in the GUI or OS where I can change the encryption?

    This is a shot in the dark, but since CiscoWorks is using (I believe) Tomcat as the web server, could you run keytool to generate the CSR?
    http://help.godaddy.com/article/5276
    You could also use an online CSR gererator such as:
    http://www.gogetssl.com/eng/support/online_csr_generator/
    The key (pun intended) is having the private key on your server so that when you get the signed certificate and install it (using sslutil) it will be usable.
    Hope this helps.

  • What are the third party tools available for Encryption in Oracle database?

    Dear All,
    Can you please help me with the below question?
    What are the third party tools available for Encryption in Oracle database? Please let me know if you know their feedback and also licensing/cost information

    Why would you spend money to purchase a third-party tool that will be, almost by definition, less secure than the tools inside the product you already own and paid for?
    http://www.morganslibrary.org/reference/pkgs/dbms_crypto.html
    But were I to have any to recommend one I would not do so without knowing information you seem to consider unimportant such as:
    1. Operating system
    2. Database edition and version
    3. What type of data needs to be secured
    4. What level of security is required

  • Issue with Third Party Adapter for custom JCA Connector in Oracle 11g.

    Hi,
    For a proof of concept, I have created my own JCA Connector. I have deployed this connector in Weblogic and it works as expected.
    Now I am trying to call the JCA Connecter from the SOA Bus. For this I have create a SCA Composite with a simple Web Service to expose the composite, a Third Party Adaptor to wrap the JCA Connector and a Mediator to wire the Web Service and the Third Party Adapter together. For the Third Party Adapter I have created both the needed *.wsdl and _3P.jca file my self. The problem is that I could not find any documentation about the _3P.jca file, and it looks like it that this file is new for 11g.
    After some puzzling and debugging I am able to deploy the SCA Composite with the Third Party Adapter. Though when I test the exposed Web Service with the Enterprise Manager I get errors and a stack trace. The problem is that the Record Converter I have created receives the default XMLRecord implementation (oracle.tip.adapter.fw.record.XMLRecordImpl) and not the implementation of the XMLRecord I have created my self.
    So the question is does anybody know how to configure the Third Party Adapter so that it will use my custom implemenation of the XMLRecord interface (oracle.tip.adapter.api.record.XMLRecord) instead of the default implementation of the XMLRecord (oracle.tip.adapter.fw.record.XMLRecordImpl).
    I would suspect that it should be configured in the _3P.jca file, though I don't know how. The following is the content of the current _3P.jca file I am using.
    <adapter-config name="DiskAdapter" adapter="Disk Adapter" wsdlLocation="JCADiskConnector.wsdl"
                    xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
      <record-converter className="com.osc.jcaadapter.convert.DiskRecordConverter"/>
      <connection-factory location="jndi/diskcf" adapterRef=""/>
      <endpoint-interaction operation="Send" portType="Send_ptt">
        <use-record-converter addonNamespace="http://somecomp.com/DiskAdapter"/>
        <interaction-spec className="com.osc.jcaadapter.impl.DiskInteractionSpecImpl">
          <property name="FunctionName" value="do-it"/>
        </interaction-spec>
      </endpoint-interaction>
    </adapter-config>So I am hoping that some one knows how you should configure the Third Party Adapter so it uses my own implementation of the XMLRecord interface.

    Hi Simeon,
    That is a good suggestion, and I would certainly try to do that if I was not making a proof of concept. It would solve my problem of not getting the sub class of the XMLRecord.
    Though for making my proof of concept I found a 10g example that used sub classes of the XMLRecord, and that is why I wanted to get the same example to work on 11g.
    The alternative of passing a parameter through with InteractionSpecs, is an interesting though can not solve this problem. I don't have a problem with the javax.resource.cci.Record, I can determine the implementation of that in the conversion class it self.
    The problem is the XMLRecord generated by the Oracle SOA Adapter Framework, some how I need a way to influence that to generate the correct implementation of the XMLRecord.
    So your post is certainly helpfull if I was not trying to get this specific problem to work :).
    But I am afraid that I will end up in implementing your sugestion.
    Regards
    Maikel.
