Oracle test manager loading problem

Hi,
While I am entering correct details in Oracle test manager it shows the following error
"Cannot connect to Database: Unable to establish database connection;[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified ".
Help me to solve this issue.
Regards,
Srinivas

Hi,
I'm also experiencing exactly the same issue. Took me a long time to search for relevent threads, but I've eventually solved this issue for myself.
When you create a new OTM database (either through initial installation or through "Oracle Application Testing Database Configuration" tool), it automatically creates a System DSN, and automatically appends an entry in your "tnsnames.ora" file in your Oracle path.
What my problem was,
-- I had previously configured sqlnet.ora file to set NAME.DEFAULT_DOMAIN
-- The Net Service Name auto-appended, does not have my domain suffix.
Hence the issue that the TNS name cannot be resolved.
As soon as I appended my domain suffix to the Net Service Name (e.g. "OTM_CONNECTION_DATA_1") in TNSNAMES.ORA file, my problem was solved.
Good Luck.

  • Oracle Test Manager - Import of Manual Tests - Fails with ORA-12520:

    Hi,
This issue occurs when we are trying to import manual tests into the Oracle Test Manager.
The import fails when we try to import more than 300 records. The error message in the log
    is as shown below:
    Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed
ORA-12520: TNS:listener could not find available handler for requested type of server
    9:50:30:020 - *** DB Exception *** State:S1000,Native:12520,Origin:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]

    State:S1000,Native:12520,Origin:[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]
No one can logon to the application after this.
According to the DBA the application is using up all the processes in the Database and hence it fails.
When we restart the application service, the number of processes in the database goes down
and the application goes back to normal state.
We keep running into this issue when we try to import >=300 manual tests. (This is not an issue
    when runs are imported.)
Anybody else facing this issue? Any ideas as to how this can be resolved?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I had some problems with. So, consider the following:
    Simple XLS file :
    testname     owner     testdescription               Expected Result
test1          wayne     Login into User Homepage     User can view login prompt
View Accout Details          User can see account details
Create simple report          User has access to reports section
Save as pdf               .pdf generate button is available
send email               email button is active
log off                    User can View log off page
So we have four fields, teatname, owner, testdescription and Expected Result.
When we import a test (select Test tab, then project->import data, and select .xls file)
Make sure Select Type is set to Manual Tests
    Map      testname -> TestCase ID
         owner -> Owner
         testdescription -> Test Step Action
Expected Result -> Test step expected result
Make sure Select Type is set to Manual Tests. You should then see one test with all the steps.
    Regards
    Wayne.
    p.s. Thanks Alex!!

  • Issue with running a script in Oracle test manager

    Tool - Open Script 9.0.1 , OTM
    Hi All
I am facing issue while executing a open script with Oracle Test Manager , I have a script which was made with open script 9.0.1 and which is running very fine with the Open Script UI ,
problem occurs once I am trying to run this with OTM.Issue looks that playback was so fast in OTM so that script was not able to recognize some of the objects.
Is there anyway so that I can control the speed of playback at any particular step when I am using OTM
    Thanks

    Hi Kumar,
Regarding your query below is the suggestion:
You have to configure the job server with the repository. While configuring the adapter, you have to configure the job server in management console also..
Still if you are facing issue then please share Job Server logs available in BODS Job Server Folder and error screenshot to debug the issue.
    Thanks,
    Daya

Create a script in openScript and save it to a workspace (a shared directory on the OTM server). To add an Oracle OpenScript test to OTM:
    1.Select the Tests tab.
    2.Click the Add button.
3.Enter a name for the test.
4.Select Oracle OpenScript in the Type field.
5.Click Find to display the Select Script dialog box.
    6.Select the Repository and Workspace.
7.Select the Oracle OpenScript script that you want to add.
    8.Click OK.
9.Select the owner and priority and enter any descriptive information in the Functionality and Description fields.
    10.Click Save.

  • Authentication to agent workstation failed when trying to run a test in Oracle Test Manager

I have the complete version of OATS installed on my local machine. I have the OracleATSHelper, OracleATSServer and OracleATSAgent services running.
In OTM when I go to run an openscript test I select the system, type the version number and hit run and get a "Authentication to agent workstation failed" error in the summary field.
It worked before but I cant figure out why it isnt working anymore.
    Can anyone help?

    ATS Version: 12.3.0.1.0 build 376
I am getting the same error when trying to execute a script from OTM - "Authentication to agent workstation failed".
I have the OTM server on a remote (server) machine and the Oracle Agent is running on my laptop / workstation. I've tried all I have seen on this thread, but no progress. The manager is now in manual mode and the console only provides the following output:
    D:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin>d:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin\AgentManagerService.exe -c  AgentManagerService.conf
wrapper  | --> Wrapper Started as Console
    wrapper  | Launching a JVM...
    jvm 1    | Wrapper (Version 3.0.3)
    jvm 1    |
One different thing, maybe, I see is that the agentmanager_auth.log is empty always.
Also, on the server, I've added this SYSTEM successfully, i.e.the Testing of the SYSTEM added in OTM always gives the success message "The system specified can be successfully accessed by the Oracle Test Manager server."  . In fact it does this even when I provide an incorrect password!

    Hi,
You can validate OID installation through 'opmnctl' and/or 'ldapbind'. You can access 'Oracle Directory Services Manager' through a browser using the url -
    'http://<host>:<port>/odsm/faces/odsm.jspx'.
Here is a link which shows screenshots of the overview of 'Oracle Directory Services Manager'.

  • Oracle Test Manager - Repository query

    Hi,
I wanted some clarification and some help.
I presume the default repository in OTM is pointing to the the C Drive (i.e. where all my OFT file structure is stored). When I check the Path it says ./OFT/ but when I try to create a new reporsitory, it allows me to paste the path I want but the file Path shows as C:\OracleATS\OFT\OATS92_EBS_115102_TSK. Is this a wrong structure? Also it does not allow the Test scrip to run, giving me this error message
"oracle.oats.jagent.exception.FataljavaAgentException: unable to create stand alone databank provider"
    Regards,
    Manisha

    Hi JB,
further to my previous reply, what I have noticed it that whatever changes I do to my scripts in the client PC are not reflected in the repository which is stored in Server.
    The scenario is like this:
I have the Oracle Test Manager stored in my Server from where I can access my repository. I have Network shared the Drive (C Drive) where all my OFT filing structure is with my Client PC.
On my Client PC I have Open script installed and It's here I create all my scripts. So any changed I make here are saved on the shared network drive.
On my Server when I look at those scripts they are showing exactly as i can see on my client PC, so my scripts are fine. But when I try to pick one of my Scripts from the default repository they are not the same. Hence I am wondering if my Default repository is different to the File Structure on the C drive on my Server. Is it possible to share/amend the default repository.
I hope you can resolve this issue.

    Manisha

    Hi ,
You can create a single dynamic distribution group with the condition to have only the mailboxes in exchange as its members . Then when a person send an email to that  Dynamic distribution group it will get distributed to all the mailboxes
    in exchange.
Note : Most important feature in the dynamic group is that the membership of that group will be maintained automatically and also along with that we can have group membership by defining the recipient types/OU /rules.
I agree with ED and also based on my knowledge you cannot achieve your scenario without Distribution groups or dynamic distribution groups.

  • Oracle Test Manager or Other Third party Test management Tools

    Hi,
Can Open Script be integrated with OTM or any other Test Management Tools available in the market to run scripts from that Test management tool.
    Thanks

    Hi
Yes when you create a test you can define it to be an OpenScript Test, then all you need to do is point it to the script, then you can play them from OTM and also schedule them.

  • Oracle Test Manager & importing data

I've been evaluating OATS with a view to replacing HP Quality Center but I'm having trouble mapping the fields for import of a .csv or native Excel file & even creating a file with mappings as stated in the help section on importing data produces the same issue as per the example below:-
The file has a Test Name - Test001 which contains several test steps 1-5
CSV Column Name > Field Name
Name (Test001) > Name (I have tried mapping this to Testcase ID with the same results)
Test Step (1-5) > Test Step number
Expected result > Test Step Expected result
    Owner > Owner
    Priority > Priority
The import runs and reports sucess - but what I end up with in the "Tests" section of OATS, are 5 Test001 entries each with an individual test step, rather than the one Test001 & 5 steps entry
Using the import wizard produces the same results
Ideally what would be good - but is missing is the ability to manually create a Test001 with the 5 steps and then export that to a .csv file so I could see where the mappings are.
Has anyone else done this succesfully?

    Hi,
I had some problems with. So, consider the following:

    testname     owner     testdescription               Expected Result

Create simple report          User has access to reports section
Save as pdf               .pdf generate button is available
send email               email button is active
log off                    User can View log off page
So we have four fields, teatname, owner, testdescription and Expected Result.
When we import a test (select Test tab, then project->import data, and select .xls file)
Make sure Select Type is set to Manual Tests
    Map      testname -> TestCase ID

Can anyone help me in this topic?
    Alex,can you please?
    Thanks,

All the data is stored on a database all you need to do during the upgrade is point to the old database instead of creating a new one.
if you are upgrading from a Microsoft based database to an Oracle database there is a data migration utility.
You don't need to do anything manually.
Once you have finished the upgrade you will need to login in the admin app http://localhsot:8088/admin with a user that has administrator rights, as this will take care of any DB upgraded that needs to be applied.
