Oracle Timesten Unable to stat Cache Connect

Hi,
Can Anyone help me out with this error
http://localhost:16004/cache/
I give DSN,username,password and when I give login , the following error is displayed
ERROR in ttBackEnd.c, line 887: prepare failed
ODBC Error/Warning = S1000, Additional Error/Warning = 5221
TT5221: Oracle syntax error in OCIStmtExecute(): ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected rc = -1 -- file "bdbConnect.c", lineno 1010, procedure "isRACEnabled()"

What exact version of Oracle client is installed on the TimesTen machine? Are the permissions for the Oracle client directory and files set correctly? Do you have your Oracle environment properly setup (i.e. can you connect to Oracle using SQL*PLUS)? When you installed TimesTen, did the user you used to install it have a valid Oracle environment?
This type of error is almost always due to an unsupported version of the client or an incorrect environment either at runtime or at installation time.

    can anybody tell me what could be the problem.
    And to use cache connect is there a separate installation ? or setting ?
    Thanks,

    I am using Jboss 4.0.0 on Oracle 9.2.0.4.0

    Hello,
    I am also facing the same error: somewhere just now I read,
    We were getting this error on JBoss / Oracle. The fix was setting the following to 0 in oracle-ds.xml:
    <prepared-statement-cache-size>0</prepared-statement-cache-size>
    Ref: http://www.jpox.org/servlet/forum/viewthread?thread=1108
    May be you can try this, I am also still finding the solution, I will try the above and let u know, if i get success.

  • TimesTen Cache Connect support for Oracle 11g

    The latest 7.0.5 readme mentioned that "Oracle Release 11gR1 is supported with TimesTen Cache Connect to Oracle on Linux x86 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, and on Windows 32-bit."
    What about Solaris 10? It looks like on Solaris 10 only Oracle 10gR2 being supported. What is so specific about Oracle 11?
    Thank you,
    Alex

    TimesTen 7.0.5 can be used to cache data from different versions of Oracle database.
    The reason why the support for Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX were not at the same time as the Linux platform was because Oracle database 11g was not available on those platforms initially. So TimesTen 7.0.5 was certified to support only the ones available first, and support for other platforms was added as 11g became available on those platforms. It was just timing of the certification, code base is the same.

    I have tried for several days but to no results. Please advise how to solve the problem. Thank you very much

    Dear all,
    I have found a solution for this error. We could use Oracle 10.2 g on HP-UX v11.31. However, when you do the installation, command will be: "./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs".
    The steps to install oracle client are following ( $ORACLE_CLIENT_HOME):
    1) su - oracle
    2) Download Oracle 10.2g HP-UX Itanium "10gr2_client_hpi.zip"
    3) unzip the file : "jar xvf 10gr2_client_hpi.zip " . The new folder name "client"
    4) cd client; ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
    After that, you need to remove the $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh.so and link to new file
    5) rm $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh.so
    6) ln -s $ORACLE_CLIENT_HOME/lib/libclntsh.so.10.1 $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh.so
    7) export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_CLIENT_HOME/lib:$TIMESTEN_HOME/lib:$ORACLE_HOME/lib
    8) export PATH=$ORACLE_CLIENT_HOME/bin:$PATH
    Then you need to restart the TimesTen Daemon so that it could get the new system parameters
    9) ttDaemonAdmin -restart
    if you do not restart the TimesTen Daemon, you could get the error:
    Command> call ttCacheStart;
    10024: Could not start cache agent for the requested data store. Could not initialize OCI function pointers. Error: none
    The command failed.
    And finally, the CacheConnect is up

    Solved the problem myself. Had to stop and restart cache agent using the timesten software installation account and not as root.
    Documentation is not clear as to what happens when you install timesten using a "non root" account. Per documentation, we have to run setuproot script to create startup / stop scripts under init directory. With a non-root installation these scripts are created and on reboot agent process inherits the root account privs. This is a problem. For a non-root install the agent process should inherit the privs of the account that performed the installation and not root's.
    May be a documentation correction is needed here.

  • Prepared statement cache & Oracle

    Hi -
    Does Weblogic's prepared statement caching only work when using their

    Thanks Joe!
    Do you know if each connection's cache is FIFO? Or do you use
    least-recently-used algorithm?
    I found one comment you made regarding XA pools. That means that if we are
    doing 2-phase commit processing that some of these benefits could erode? I
    didn't understand why. If we assume that the connections in a given pool
    after a time get a good sampling of popular prepared statements, would their
    being XA or not matter? Maybe I missed your point entirely.

  • How to use Oracle statement cache?

    hi,
    I'm using weblogic 7 with the included Oracle JDBC Thin driver
    (9.2.0).
    One new(?) feature in this driver statement caching, but it seems that
    weblogic does not support this feature.
    Mainly the classes in weblogic.jdbc.vendor.oracle.* that are some sort
    of wrapper(?) to the thin driver does not support the methods that
    enable this.
    The driver docs says to use
    OracleConnection.setImplicitStatementCachingEnabled(true)
    or
    OracleConnection.setExplicitStatementCachingEnabled(true)
    but these just don't exist in the
    weblogic.jdbc.vendor.oracle.OracleConnection class.
    So, is this feature not supported by weblogic or there's another way
    of doing statement caching?
    Thanks

    Our next major release (in beta now) will allow you do do anything the driver
    provides. For now, we do provide the same sort of functionality in our pool.
    If you set the pool's statement cache size to N, then we will cache up to N
    prepared statements for each pooled connection. This will get you exactly the
    same performance benefit.

  • Statement cache  in connection cache

    In my application , i have implemented connection cache mechanism using OracleConnectionImpl class, my application
    gets the connection from connection cache and it makes JDBC calls(SELECT,UPDATE),and returns connection back to connection cache.
    i am doing above steps repedetily, i am trying to implement statement cache mechanism for performance reasons, is statement cache
    mechanism is suitable for above scenario.
    i learned that statement chache is associated with a physical connection, in my case i am getting physical connection instances from a connection cache ,
    using the connection for making JDBC calls and return back to cache. i am using several physical connection instances using connection cache,
    is statement cache suitable for my application?
    i need some help
    thanks

    Hi Elango,
    Thank you, I have downloaded latest jdbc driver (9.2) as u suggested, now it's working well, but i found another problem in my application, as am using CLOB datatypes in my application, when i changed my driver classes to above one i am getting following problem while working with CLOB.
    here i am giving my error stack:
    java.io.IOException: No more data to read from socket
    at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.SQLToIOException(DBError.java:716)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleClobWriter.flushBuffer(OracleClobWriter.java:270)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleClobWriter.close(OracleClobWriter.java:232)
    my application code as follows
    BufferedReader xmlReader = new BufferedReader(new StringReader(clobXML)); //my xml string
    CLOB clob = ((OracleResultSet) dbresultset).getCLOB(1);
    Writer writer = clob.getCharacterOutputStream();
    // writing xml into clob
    String xmlString = "";
    while ((xmlString = xmlReader.readLine()) != null) {
    writer.write(xmlString);
    xmlReader.close();
    writer.close(); //problem here
    when i am trying to close or flush the stream,it's giving above problem, otherwise it's working fine, but no data is stored in database.
    the above code was working fine with my old driver classes.
    any idea?
    Thanks,

    - 10gR2 = 10.2.0.y
    The latest 10gR2 release number is 10.2.0.4 and is available on Linux and a number of other platforms.
    Both TimesTen 7.0.4 and 7.0.5 support 10.2.0.4 and this is the recommended client version for Cache Connect; the reason is that we have found Oracle OCI client side issues with pre-10.2.0.4 releases and they are fixed in 10.2.0.4.

  • Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database VS Oracle In-Memory Database Cache

    Hi,
    What is difference in Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database VS Oracle In-Memory Database Cache.
    For 32 bit on windows OS i am not able to insert data's more than 500k rows with 150 columns (with combinations of CHAR,BINARY_DOUBLE,BINARY_FLOAT, TT_BIGINT,REAL,DECIMAL,NUMERIC etc).
    [TimesTen][TimesTen 11.2.2.2.0 ODBC Driver][TimesTen]TT0802: Database permanent space exhausted -- file "blk.c", lineno 3450, procedure "sbBlkAlloc"
    I have set Perm size as 700 mb,Temp size as 100mb
    What is the max size we can given for PermSize,TempSize,LogBufMB for 32 bit on windows OS.
    What is the max size we can given for PermSize,TempSize,LogBufMB for 64 bit on windows OS.
    What is the Max configuration of TT for 32 bit what i can set for Perm size Temp size.
    Thanks!

    They are the same product but they are licensed differently and the license limits what functionality you can use.
    TimesTen In-Memory Database is a product in its own right allows you to use TimesTen as a standalone database and also allows replication.
    IMDB Cache is an Oracle DB Enterprise Edition option (i.e. it can only be licensed as an option to an Oracle DB EE license). This includes all the functionality of TImesTen In-Memory Database but adds in cache functionality (cache groups, cache grid etc.).
    32-bit O/S are in general a poor platform to try and create an in-memory database of any significant size (32-bit O/S are very limited in memory addressing capability) and 32-bit Windows is the worst example. The hard coded limit for total datastore size on 32-bit O/S is 2 GB but in reality you probably can;'t achieve that. On Windows the largest you can get is 1.1 GB and most often less than that. If you need something more than about 0.5 Gb on Windows then you really need to use 64-bit Windows and 64-bit TimesTen. There are no hard coded upper limit to database size on 64-bit TimesTen; the limit is the amount of free physical memory (not virtual memory) in the machine. I have easily created a 12 GB database on a Win64 machine with 16 GB RAM. On 64-bit Unix machines we have live database of over 1 TB...

  • Does TT cache connect support Oracle 8.1.7.4 as backend database?

    Can TT (702) cache connect support Oracle 8.1.7.4?
    thanks

    No, I'm afraid not. We only support 9.2.0.8 or 10g. There is no longer support for 8i.
    Sorry,
