Oracle (web) and MAPI

Howdy!
So something we would like to do is to have Oracle be able to receive emails (from MS exchange), look up the email address, and insert a record based on that email (basically, we want to use this to track interactions with our clients).
Has anyone done something like this with web deployed forms (is it even possible)?
Is there code out there I can use?
thanks!
-Joel

Joel,
what about using Java Mail through the Forms Java Importer? (http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/)
The SUN discussion forum also provides some information on how to access MSExchange (http://forum.java.sun.com/)

  • Oracle Workflow and mapping input parameters

    Hello all,
    I am trying to create a process flow in OWB that will be able to pass input parameters into each of my mappings. Each mapping contains 2 inputs, a start time and an end time.
    Does OWB's process flows allow for this or is there another approach that i should take in creating a workflow for these mappings?
    I am currently using 11gR2(11.2.0.1) and OWF v. 2.6.4.
    Thanks in advanced for any and all help,
    Randy

    Hi Randy,
    Open the process flow editor. In the structure window (menu view->structure), select the mapping activity and expand it to see its parameters. If you select a parameter, you can set its value or bind it to a variable in the property window.
    In the structure window you can also add process flow parameters to the start activity or define process flow variables.
    Regards,
    Carsten.

  • Oracle Map Viewer Application on Oracle Web Logic

    We have developed an application using map viewer, Oracle 10g and deployed it in Oracle AS 10g. It was running fine and OK. Now we switched over the same application to Web logic10.3, using map viewer 10.1.3.3, Oracle db11g, JDeveloper 11g. We could deploy successfully on Web logic. The problem encountered is that During the map display (mapviewer.run()), an exception “Map viewer cannot process your map request. Check map viewer log for details.” is coming. We checked Map viewer log file and found no comments.

    If your web server is working and the forms server is running type:
    http://ip addr:port/dev60html/runform.htm
    You need to put the ip address or name of your server in and the port number apache is running on (leave blank if this is 80).
    This gives you the Oracle Forms start screen.
    cheers

  • ACE and Oracle Web logic

    Hi All,
    I have here a 6509-E chassis with a Sup720 in it and an ACE module also in it.
    Our enviornment is getting oracle web-logic virtual servers via OVM.  Our ERP team would like to be able to load-balance to the web servers located in the oracle OVM box.  The Oracle OVM stuff, as near as I can make out uses java processes to direct traffic once it hits the box to the virtual web servers it contains. The java processes listen on different ports, thereby meaning there can be loads of web servers on the one box assuming the physical box has enough resources.
    That said, I currently have three web servers all sitting on the one physical box.
    For example:
    /* Style Definitions */
    table.MsoNormalTable
    {mso-style-name:"Table Normal";
    mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0;
    mso-tstyle-colband-size:0;
    mso-style-noshow:yes;
    mso-style-priority:99;
    mso-style-parent:"";
    mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt;
    mso-para-margin:0cm;
    mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt;
    mso-pagination:widow-orphan;
    font-size:10.0pt;
    font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";}
    server1 = http://10.1.95.70:9999
    server2 = http://10.1.95.70:9888
    server3 = http://10.1.95.70:9777
    The Company bought ACE modules a while ago and we'd like to be able to use them to load balance across the three servers (there are a lot more than three but this illustrates the point).
    In the configuration of the ACE module, the rserver mode (real server) requires an IP to be assigned to the rserver, this is the real IP address of the actual server and is classes as 'serverside' I think:
    eg
    /* Style Definitions */
    table.MsoNormalTable
    {mso-style-name:"Table Normal";
    mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0;
    mso-tstyle-colband-size:0;
    mso-style-noshow:yes;
    mso-style-priority:99;
    mso-style-parent:"";
    mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt;
    mso-para-margin:0cm;
    mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt;
    mso-pagination:widow-orphan;
    font-size:10.0pt;
    font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";}
    /* Style Definitions */
    table.MsoNormalTable
    {mso-style-name:"Table Normal";
    mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0;
    mso-tstyle-colband-size:0;
    mso-style-noshow:yes;
    mso-style-priority:99;
    mso-style-parent:"";
    mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt;
    mso-para-margin:0cm;
    mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt;
    mso-pagination:widow-orphan;
    font-size:10.0pt;
    font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";}
    rserver host SVR_9999
      description Real Server 9999
      ip address 10.1.95.70
      inservice
    As the second web server also resides on that same IP, should it not also have the same IP?  ie
    rserver host SVR_9888
      description Real Server 9888
      ip address 10.1.95.70
      inservice
    When I try to enter in the ip address however it errors out with a duplicate:
    ACE1/TEST_CTX(config)# rserver host SVR_9888
    ACE1/TEST_CTX(config-rserver-host)# ip address 10.1.95.70
    Error: Duplicate IP address or subnet
    My question is:  Is there a way I can use the ACE module to load balance to different web servers on the one IP address (assuming the rest of the configuration is fine)?   Something that would achieve the following eg?
    /* Style Definitions */
    table.MsoNormalTable
    {mso-style-name:"Table Normal";
    mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0;
    mso-tstyle-colband-size:0;
    mso-style-noshow:yes;
    mso-style-priority:99;
    mso-style-parent:"";
    mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt;
    mso-para-margin:0cm;
    mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt;
    mso-pagination:widow-orphan;
    font-size:10.0pt;
    font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";}
    rserver host SVR_9999
      description Real Server 9999
      ip address 10.1.95.70:9999
      inservice
    rserver host SVR_9888
      description Real Server 9888
      ip address 10.1.95.70:9888
      inservice
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi
    You need to create one rserver and multipul serverfams with port number as follow.
    rserver host SVR_1

  • How to deploy the Oracle Forms and Reports 10g in Web?

    Currently I am working in Oracle forms & Reports conversion project (6i to 10g).
    As of now 6i forms working as a standalone application. After migrated it to 10g, I need to deploy the forms and reports in web.
    Any one know how to deploy the Oracle forms and Reports in web?
    Please help me out. Thanks in advance.
    Vimal

    Hello Frank,
    for development, you need to install Oracle Developer
    Suite 10g. This includes Forms and Reports.this topic interests me too, because I've downloaded Developer Suite and Database (both for 10g) from Oracle website, installed them, but I couldn't connect to a database.
    What should be done for me to create a database link and be able to connect locally, in my personal Desktop computer? (Not to a server)
    Once it was told me here that I should download 10g Database - I did it, and installed it, but it didn't work. Later, some of my job partners said I should install them in a sequence - that is, 1st the Developer, and 2nd the Database. But it has failed too. And I don't know how to configure a database connection.
    Best regards,

  • Performance of WEB enabling ( Converting to Oracle 8i and Forms 6i)

    We are working on a project to convert a forms 4.5 and Oracle 7.3.4 application to a web based app ( Oracle 8i and Forms 6i). I want to know if there will be a performance hit (improve or decrease) as a result of this.
    Please help

    Satish - concerned about your statement that you have not used in in production but you think its not the good. If you can quantify your statement I will address is.
    As for Bobs points - check out http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=836060
    This probably addresses Bobs concerns.
    If you are concerned - take a look at the testimonials. Go to otn.oracle.com/products/forms and click on the Testimonials link.
    Believe it or not we actually have people who are running FASTER on the Web - How can that be!!! - well the reason is that the have uses on slow links - when running client server there database access is across these links and since they had database intensive application they found it could be slow. On the web the data trasfer between the app server and the database was on a fast link and the client (who are still on the slow link) are getting only screen draw information which is alot less than the database traffic.
    Hope this helps

  • Run Oracle Web Logic and Oracle Application Server 10g on same server

    Since oracle has chosen to release adf faces 11g, before the SOA suite 11g is released, we are facing the challenge to run both Oracle Web logic and Oracle Application Server 10g on the same server.
    If anyone have any experience in this setup or has knowledge of other feasable setups please let me know.
    Regards.
    Jan

    What version of Oracle Application Server 10g are you installing?
    If you are installing 10gR2 (v10.1.2.x) have you taken a look at point #70 in "Table 2 Additional Information for Certified Platforms" section here?

  • Oracle Web Center Suite and Oracle Portal

    1)What is Oracle Portal and why it is used?
    2)What is Oracle Web Center Suite and why it is used?
    3)What is the difference between Oracle Portal and Oracle Web Center Suite?

    1) Oracle Portal is the Portal product that was deployed together with the application server before weblogic server. It is still used a lot for corporate intra and extranets. It is mosly used for intranets and extranets. When you bought the licence for the application server you automaticly had the licence for Oracle Portal. That's why it is so popular.
    Oracle portal is not realy standard based. You mostly will create portlets with PL/SQL or PDK and not realy use the JSR168 standard.
    No with Oracle Portal 11g you can consume JSR168 portlets using WSRP.
    2) Oracle WebCenter suite is the next strategical choose of oracle in portal software. Webcenter is an enterprise 2.0 portal environment while oracle portal is more web 1.5 and has limited web 2.0 stuff. Oracle Portal comes with a complete UI for the user to use to create websites and groups but webcenter is more a framework to incoorporate enterprise 2.0 features into your own fusion web application. Webcenter suite comes with Webcenter spaces. THis is a complete UI to create collaborative websites.
    Webcenter framework is a powerfull framework to create complete enterprise 2.0 sites.
    3) The difference... Oracle Portal is an old product and will not be developt anymore. I've heard portal 11g will be the last version meaning support will stop at 2014. Webcenter is a new product to create state of the art enterprise 2.0 websites.
    Oracle portals is not build on standard and is not realy standardbased meaning is you develop portlets for portal you will not be able to use them in other portals.
    Webcenter on the other hand is completly standard based. It is JSR168 compliant and in the near future it will also support JSR286.
    Oracle portal is PL/SQL based while webcenter is completly java based, based upon the ADF framework from oracle.
    Because WebCenter is based upon the ADF framework you can use the complete ADF framework for your application. For example consuming webservices are very easy in webcenter. If you are using a service oriented architecture you will have lots and lots of work to integrate it with portal. With webcenter this is peace of cake.
    Hope this helps you :)

    Hi,
    Can any one point me to some useful links to know abt
    Oracle Web Services Manager and some example to play with it.
    Appreciate your help !!
    Regards,

    Vijay,
    You can install Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM) as a stand alone product, but the easiest way would be to use the OracleAS SOA Suite Developer Preview, that contains all the SOA components (OWSM, J2EE, BPEL, ESB, ...)
    Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0) Developer Preview for the Oracle SOA Suite

  • Running oracle forms and reports on the web

    can any one help me out....
    I have oracle 9i database as back end and oracle forms & reports 6i which was running on client server architecture. Now i want to deploy all my forms on web so that it runs on internet explorer . For all these things to happen what all upgradation i need to do.... . Do i need to upgrade my back end database and with what i have to replace my oracle forms 6i. pls tell in detail. I am using windows XP as my operating system and my disk space is 160GB and RAM is 1GB.

    The process of upgrading Forms to the web can be found here: otn.oracle.com/formsupgrade.
    You will also need to confirm the version you are upgrading to supports the database version - if you have support from Oracle you can check this out on metalink.oracle.com (and navigate to certifications).
    Of course, the documentation is also a good place to start - otn.oracle.com/products/forms and navigate to documentation.

    try this link on for size:
    http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/1022doc_otn/caching.102/a90372/toc.htm
    To get to the (iAS documentation, try this path through technet
    Top Level
    -> click documentation link on RHS
    -> click Oracle9i Application Server link
    -> click Generic Documentation Library link (HTML) or (PDF)
    That should get you to the documentation library, from which you can view all the component doc, install guides, performance guides, etc.

  • Problem with Oracle Web Service Proxies reusing classes and exceptions

    We have an application that have many web services and we're having a really hard time working with Oracle Web Service Proxy. We have many web services that share the same classes for parameters and exceptions. When we generate de proxy classes, it generates a lot of _LiteralSerializer classes. Because I'm reusing the same classes and exceptions it generates the same _LiteralSerializer classes for this classes and they get replaced. For Example
    I have classes A and B and Web Services X and Y that use this classes. When I generate the 2 proxies it generates A_LiteralSerializer and B_LiteralSerializer on the 2 proxies and they get replaced and I get "No serlalizers for A class or B class". This problems repeats a lot of times and this problem is a huge risk for our project. We're using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.
    Is there a way to avoid this with Oracle Web Service Proxies?
    Regards,
    Néstor

    Resolved when I create a deployement profile explicitly.
    The Webservice.deploy that gets created automatically when I create a web service was giving this issue.
