Oracle WebCenter Portal query

Now I have 3 tabs: Home, Staff and Student. When I expand Home tab, there are Home and Documents. When I expand Staff tab and Student tab, there is Home. Now I want to add something calls “Files” in Staff tab, how do I do it? So when I expand Staff tab, there are Home and Files. I am using Oracle WebCenter Portal and creating portal.

• How can I customize the whole oracle webcenter portal

We have a project that uses oracle webcenter portal. I want to customize it starting to its landing page til the content. I tried using extending webcenter spaces project but my build.xml has an error in clicking clean-stage. I followed the instructions correctly but still not working. I also tried following the tutorial about customizing at runtime, it works but its only for a specific tab. Is there any other way in customizing the product?

It assumes that you have this file available in your jdev
${jdeveloper.install.home.directory}/modules/net.sf.antcontrib_1.0.0.0_1-0b2/lib/ant-contrib.jar
Add ant-contrib.jar into jdeveloper\modules\net.sf.antcontrib_1.0.0.0_1-0b2\lib directory. You can download it from http://ant-contrib.sourceforge.net/.

• Installing Pre-built Virtual Machine for Oracle WebCenter Portal error

Hi,
I am trying to install the Pre-built Virtual Machine for Oracle WebCenter Portal: Framework 11gR1 (11.1.1.4.0) onto a Laptop (500G HDD 8G Ram) running Windows 7 to learn.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/portal/downloads/owcs-portalfw-vbox-284132.html
I want to run in a VirtualBox Linux setup etc.
I have downloaded all the files except the REAVDD-HOL-WC.ovf which would not download so I saved in browser to the same directory etc.
I have set the preferences in Virtual Box to the same directory where I have downloaded the files to but when I Import Applicance and select C:\users\Tony\Virtual Box VMs and select the defaults and import I get an error box stating:
Failed to import appliance C:\Users\Tony\VirtualBox VMs\REAVDD-HOL-WC.ovf.
Could not open the medium storage unit 'C:\Users\Tony\VirtualBox VMs\REAVDD-HOL-WC-disk1.vmdk'.

I've imported this appliance (and others) on Windows 7 32-bit on a Lenovo W500, on an iMac, and on a MacBook. The one error you should encounter during the "import appliance" step is a path error related to shared folder (the canned/hard-coded path in the ovf file points to a place that is not likely to exist on your computer, so just comment out the D:\TEMP\Host path, or make it for that matter).
<!--SharedFolders-->
<!--SharedFolder name="Host" hostPath="D:\TEMP\Host" writable="false" autoMount="true"/ -->
<!-- /SharedFolders-->
You can alter system set memory_target=300M scope=both and set your VM memory to 2.5GB and everything will run fine (using the vmctl script to start up what's needed). The "1" option is all that is needed for the tutorial shown in the documentation. If you run the admin server, you will see things run a good bit slower. Part of the tutorial assumes you know about UCM and how to take the UCM content in the sample files and upload those into the repository. You can delete the file already loaded and then do a single file upload to "re-load" the various directories/folders for the menu/home/etc. Upload the png and other files into the same folder (menu.html, menuBanner.png, etc. all go into the same Menu folder). It's not worth the time to set the bulk upload because you have to go out into UCM and dig around the admin settings, stop/restart, and so on. You can also use the contentadmin user (welcome1) to do the file upload.

• How to integrate Events from Siebel application to Oracle Webcenter portal

Hi
We have a requirement where one application resides in Siebel and the poral is running on Oracle Webcenter Portal. Here we want to see the events/appointment which are created in Siebel Application, should be visible in Oracle Webcenter Portal's calendar as soon as user logs in. It is a Hospital portal, and appointments are created in Siebel Application and when Doctor logs in to portal (running on Oracle webcenter portal), user should be able to see them on his Calendar/event.
Please help me how to go ahead with it.
Regards,
Sid

Hi All,
Not sure that I agree with my friend Yannick on this. I think that you can change to point to a different DBMS. You might be able to do this by reconfiguring the Siebel server and give SQL Server as your DBMS and then give the correct SQL connect into. At worst case I think you can change the server data source named subsystem. You will need to change the DLL name and well as the connect info. If the reconfiguration does not work your best bet would be to compare the settings from your server data source for Oracle to a known good server data source for SQL Server.
BTW, why would you make this change? As a database Oracle can’t be beat. 11g is incredible.

• Oracle webcenter Portal: Spaces Features

Hi experts,
I need an answer to the foll.
' We have several different applications integrated in Oracle Webcenter Portal: Spaces (11.1.1.8) via Portal builder. Can you list me the different features the portal can leverage to the underlying applications?
Ex: Can we remove header from the integrated application and show in the portal?
What can be performed with the data we recieve from an external application? - can we build dashboards etc?
If a application have browser compatibility issues, can they be fixed after integrating in portal?
Datawarehousing etc.,
I understand the requirement is not completely clear, but any documentation that portal offers to underlying applications would be helpful.
Thanks.

• Unable to display the Content of a data file from within another data file in Oracle webcenter portal.

We have a Content Presenter taskflow. This task flow is added to a jspx page. The taskflow fetches the content from the contributor data file. The contributor data file is having a WYSIWYG editor. The content of the WYSIWYG editor is being displayed correctly through the task flow.
We have some links in the WYSIWYG editor. These links again point to some data files. When we click on these links from within the portal, then we are getting a blank page(the url of this blank page is: http://localhost:7101/eWSIBPortal/faces/oracle/webcenter/sitestructure/render.jspx?datasource=UCM%23dDocName%3AWSIB_ARTICLE) and not displaying the content of the data file that we are pointing to from the WYSIWYG editor.
We want to display the content of these data files(which we have pointed from WYSIWYG editor) in-line within the portal.
Please help us to resolve this issue and let us know if any information is required from our end.

Thanks for reply. However, can I use XSQL to dump the formated text to a file? or just can display to client through web browsers?

• Oracle Webcenter Portal and UCM Problem

hi, I'm using both applications but it seems UCM always ask authentication before viewing the checked in files to webcenter portal.
How can I view the files checked in to UCM through webcenter without UCM authentication??????????I set the files security to public.
Thanks

Looks like the configuration of UCM (SSXA) is not completed in your system. Take a look at this manual http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e13650/toc.htm to understand the relationship between region definitions and placeholders. Note that Content Presenter is just a client here (it's a matter of WebCenter Content configuration).

• Oracle SSO 10g with Oracle WebCenter portal 11g (11.1.1.8)

My client is having an existing Single Sign On solution (SSO 10g) and now we are implementing webcenter portal 11g (11.1.1.8).
The client is going for OID 11g for the new implementation and wants old SSO to be used for single sign on.
Here's the stack:
1. Oracle SSO 10g - existing one and client is not interested in upgrading to OIM/OAM 11g.
2. Oracle OID 11g - new install and client is ready for migration.
3. Oracle WebCenter 11g - the custom portal whose build is in progress.
We want to bring the new portal implemention under the SSO umbrella for authentication and authorization.
The questions are:
1. Is this discouraged by Oracle? I mean, if you are using 11g for WCP and 11g for OID why not migrate to OIM/OAM 11g ?
2. Can I configure my new portal for this old SSO? if yes, is there any documentation for it? Are there any limitations/demerits in this approach?
3. Is there any other bettter way out there which I am not aware of?
Thanks in advance

• Best practice to Deployment Oracle WebCenter Suite for enterpsie

I have a lead with enterprise client; and we need to proposed to this client best practice to deploy high availability on cluster environment contains the following components:
- oracle web center content: it will used for WebCenter portal (spaces) repository for x-trantent portal as well as it will used to build internet website using WCM
- oracle WebCenter portal; to build x-intranet portal
- oracle access manager for single sign on authentication
- oracle web tier for HTTP server and web cache.
i reviewed the enterprise deployment "http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/core.1111/e12037/intro.htm" and contains rich information on the configuration.
However; my question is could you provide us a best practice to deploy above components on a high availability cluster environment "on a Linux environment prefared" to support and tested around 20k users? By the way client already had oracle exadata 11g server and it will used for this deployment.

AW,
One way is creating EJBs.Please refer to the threads below for that
https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=2936002&messageID=1082087
You can create a javabean and you can import that as a model .
Check the following project which will generate javabean (MaX DB)
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/softwaredownload?download=/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/business_packages/a1-8-4/simple_javabean_generator_project.zip
This project will generate a javaben out of the tables in MAXDB.
You can follow any one of the above.

• WebCenter Portal application with OID

Can someone show the way to resolve the below Challenge?
Intention: Integrate OID User repository with Oracle WebCenter Portal application
Sequence of steps followed:
1) We have created a new provider under WLS and made the control flag to sufficient,
2) Reorder the OID Provider with the default provider and changed the default provider control flag to optional
3) Created new WebCenter Portal application(with the default webcenter framework template) and deployed into custom managed server
4) Now iam able to login to the sample portal application with the OID Users
Challenge: i can able to get the administration tab in the application(Sample deployed application) by making the OID Group as a Administrator role, but if i go to the security tab under the webcenter framework administration option it is not fetching any user/group list from OID+*,
it is showing the popup message like "An unknown error occured during data streaming, Ask your system administrator to inspect the server side logs "

Do you have same more logs? Maybe in AdminServer?
When you get
ADF_FACES-60098:Faces lifecycle receives unhandled exceptions in phase RENDER_RESPONSE 6
javax.el.ELException: java.lang.NullPointerException
Usually is a error that you isn't catched in some class and you get error in your jspx page.

• Calling css and js file in webcenter portal template

Hi All,
I stored all js and css file in wcc.I want to invoke css and js file in webcenter portal template .How can i invoke by direct link?
First question, to get the direct link for the css file in webcenter content

Copy Download URL of selected css file by Right click on the css file from Space => Documents and click on 'Get Links' in the popup menu. Copy the link for later use.
FYI, Assuming files are uploaded to WCC via WebCenter Portal -> Spaces/Portal -> Document Explorer taskflow.
In the similar lines, I wrote the following article titled "Using FusionCharts in Oracle WebCenter Portal" in which I upload the js files and swf files to WCC via Document Explorer taskflow. Later I made use of the direct link of js files to render charts using FusionCharts js files/swf files.
https://blogs.oracle.com/nandakishorkn/entry/using_fusioncharts_in_oracle_webcenter
Once you've direct link to css / js file(s), you can use af:resource tag like :
<af:resource type="css" source="url" />
<af:resource type="javascript" source="url" />

Creating and using Page Templates in Oracle Webcenter Portal Applications (Refer Slide#1-22)

Run custom javascript when ADF page loads

I hope it helps!

• How to integrate oracle webcenter with oracle webcenter Sites?

How to integrate oracle webcenter with oracle webcenter Sites?

This very much depends on what you mean by the first "oracle webcenter" and what kind of integration you are looking for.
Oracle WebCenter contains three main product lines:
- Oracle WebCenter Portal,
- Oracle WebCenter Sites,
- and Oracle WebCenter Content.
Since the newest version 11.1.1.8 it is possible to store Sites' assets in WebCenter Content.
WebCenter Portal, where the name WebCenter originated from, is another front-end technology, so it would rather co-exist next to Sites than integrate with them. See this thread WebCenter Portal and WebCenter Sites Integration for more details.

• Oracle Webcenter REST API Authentication

Hi All,
I am getting authentication error while consuming the Webcenter REST API url http://webcenter.us.oracle.com/rest/api/resourceIndex.In Jdeveloper (URL Datacontrol)
So please help me where to Provide the authentication details.
Thanks.

Hi.
You need to add Authentication to your REST requests. Using Oracle WebCenter Portal REST APIs - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.6.3)
From my experience, I always used REST API from a REST Java Wrapper done by a mate: Oracle Webcenter Portal & Content Tips: Using WebCenter REST API from Java
- Samples snippet of authentication:
When executing code inside of the domain use OIT:
b64EncodedToken = WCSecurityUtility.issueTrustServiceSecurityToken();
String auth = "OIT " + b64EncodedToken;
connection.setRequestProperty(AUTH_PROPERTY, auth);
When executing code for testing in your JUnit or outside, use directly BASIC authentication:
String userpass = "weblogic:weblogic1";
BASE64Encoder encoder = new BASE64Encoder();
b64EncodedToken = encoder.encode(userpass.getBytes());
String auth = "Basic " + b64EncodedToken;
Create a DataControl manually create an instance of the connection depending of the environment.
Take a look in the official documentation and in the blog entry links.
Regards.

• Oracle Portal 11g, Oracle WebCenter Suite or Oracle WebLogic Portal ?

Witch of these technologies, Oracle Portal 11g,
Oracle WebCenter Suite or Oracle WebLogic Portal ?
is the future product of oracle ?
I am going to use portal but I don't know witch of these product is the correct one.
I need help to clarified it. As i am going to use portal I want to use the one that oracle intend to support

Hi Harish,
There are lot differences are available when you compare these three products, some them are
Oracle Web Center Suite
Comprises of various components such as Web Center Interaction,Oracle Entitlement Server,Oracle Personalization Server an Ensemble(for proxying content and mashups) and chat server,wiki server,blog server,forum etc are available with web center suite.The collaboration tools are out of the box,so you dont require to redevelop anything to enable collaboration for your site.Basically webcenter is more powerful when used to develop intranet sites rather than a website which requires less collaboration.
Oracle Portal 10g
Oracle Portal 10g is the primary oracle portal product before oracle bought BEA.The main difference is the architecture and framework,Oracle Portal uses sql/plsql intensively for processing the page as all their pages are developed from browser.Every thing you develop is streaming that is queried from DB in contrast with weblogic portal which has the feature of file based portal which is faster compared to the streaming(persistent desktops).The architecture is different compared to weblogic and webcenter.For ex:There are sql and pl/sql portlets which can be developed very faster which not there in the other two platforms.
Oracle Weblogic Portal 10.3
It is hot in the market right now and development is easier and architecture supports both file based and streaming,the primary features of all the portal product are more or less same but webcenter has more collaborative features.Weblogic portal is very stable as it is on WLS which is a stable weblogic server.
I prefer if you have any previous experience on any of these products then built on that one.Else start with weblogic portal which is easier to startwith compared to others.
Regards,
Dinesh
