Oradebug

Hi,
in order to track my session I go to user dump repertory and open a sqlplus session and do the following but I have no trace file :
SQL>  oradebug setospid 21273

you didn't set the event before issueing the to be traced statement. try
oradebug event 10046 trace name context forever, level <level>

    6 days, I run SQLPlus to add a new datafile into the tablespace.
    It is still running now.
    How can I find the PID for this process?

    But I still havenot figured out the Add New Datafile issue.
    There is some one else from the IT dept. working on that for me.

  • Trace file generation using oradebug

    DB version : 10.2.0.4.0
    OS : Solaris 5.10
    I am trying to trace a session started by a Java application.
    So, i've logged in as SYS. Got pid, spid from v$process. Then started the debug
    SYS@MN_PROD>oradebug setospid 2523
    SYS@MN_PROD>oradebug event 10046 trace name context forever, level 32and closed it using
    oradebug event 10046 trace name context offWhen i type
    ORADEBUG TRACEFILE_NAMEIt shows a filename in bdump directory. But i can't find this file in bdump or udump.
    Is there any init.ora setting i need to do to get this file generated?

    Decimal Binary Description
    1       0001   Emit statistics for parse, execute, fetch, commit, and rollback database calls (standard sql_trace)
    2       0010   Unknown
    4       0100   Emit values for SQL bind variables (also called “placeholders”)
    8       1000   Emit statistics for Oracle kernel internal function calls (also called “wait events”) listed in v$event_name
    These levels can be combined as if by a bitwise or function to produce combinations of data in an Oracle trace file.
    A value of 15 is just a combination of all 4 preceeding values

    Hi All,
    I am trying to create SYSTEMSTATE dump for my RAC database. Recently we had a node crash, due to hanging sessions. When we open a SR with oracle, they suggested us to run following if the same scenario repeats.
    oradebug setmypid
    oradebug unlimit
    oradebug -g all dump systemstate 266
    wait for 2 min
    oradebug -g all dump systemstate 266
    wait for 2 min
    oradebug -g all dump systemstate 266
    I tried running the above without "oradebug unlimit". I got "ORA-02819: Write failed" after generating 30Mb trace file.
    Second time, I did set "oradebug unlimit" and trying to run "oradebug -g all dump systemstate 266".
    But getting the following error.
    Error 2819 encountered by local DIAG [ospid=529126]
    Error 2819 encountered by remote DIAG [ospid=1151684][instance=2]
    Error 2819 encountered by remote DIAG [ospid=1208710][instance=4]
    Error 2819 encountered by remote DIAG [ospid=549384][instance=3]

    I got these instructions from oracle and they worked.
    alter session set max_dump_file_size=unlimited;
    oradebug setmypid     -- Have to do this else you will get ORA-00074 - no process specified on subsequent cmds
    oradebug unlimit
    oradebug setinst all
    oradebug -g all dump systemstate 266
    oradebug tracefile_name
         ( Run from each instance sequentially - starting with hung one - then move on to other non hung instances)

    The correct syntax is
    oradebug setospid <Unix pid>
    You can 'attach' to one process only.
    You have two oradebug setospid commands issued, the latter one is wrong, but wouldn't have worked anyway.
    The usual method to trace a session is
    oradebug setospid ...
    oradebug event 10046 trace name context forever, level 12
    This should work.
    Note you can accomplish the same using dbms_system.set_ev

    Yes it is safe to use, provided you know what you are doing.

    Well as ORADEBUG seems to be wholly undocumented anyway, so I think it's unnecessary t describe these two features in particular as being undocumented.
    Does DEBUG HELP not give any clues?

  • Update Statement Simply hanged but doing db file sequential read

    Last night we had issue with one of the prod server where we updating one of table which contains large number records in millions.Same identical machine completed in1 hour and other box never completed but doing db file sequential read but in the long ops the last statement it was done 20:16 after that nothing is happening but i ran few trace on that user.

    Hi,
    Last night we had issue with one of the prod server where we updating one of table which contains large number records in millions.Same identical machine completed in1 hour and other box never completed but doing db file sequential read but in the long ops the last statement it was done 20:16 after that nothing is happening but i ran few trace on that user.

  • How to trace an application in Oracle 10g

    Hi,
    I want to trace a complete application in Oracle 10g end-to-end.
    Here is the scenario,
    The are two systems:
    System A: Oracle 10g server
    System B: Windows server
    The application runs on system B.
    How do I trace the complete application in oracle 10g?
    I read about the trcsess tool but will like to know if there is a way to collate all *.trc produced by the application.

    Tracing the Oracle transactions is easy, but you need to decide what level of trace you want and identify the database sessions to trace.
    Tracing can generate huge amounts of logs, so think carefully if you really need to do this.
    The tracing will only capture the database transactions. It won't track what happens in the application (e.g mouse clicks etc)
    Options to enable tracing :-

  • I got the trace... why do I need that?

    Question might seems to be little stupid but I got a concern in the middle of night.
    I know how to generate at 10046 level trace. I do that using below:
    execute sys.dbms_system.set_ev(SID,SERIAL, 10046, LEVEL, '');
    I know there are other alternates to this as well like oradebug.
    I know all level of tracec 4, 8 and 12... and also I know how to generate tkprof of particular trace file and what to look into it.
    What I dont know is:
    1) Ok. So my 10046 trace is showing block by block read of table scan with wait event... usually I see db sequential read.
    Now I would like to know why should I generate this report as I do not know how many number of blocks It was supposed to read and how much blocks it has read in actual. eg:
    suppose I have a 10GB table for which a query reads almost 1GB data in it.
    I assume my query will retrieve this 1GB data by reading 10000 blocks. (I am assuming here. I dont know if there is any method using which I can determine that)
    But when I generate a 10046 level trace I see that query has read 20000 blocks.
    So, I have a difference of 10000 blocks. What I am trying to point out is that how would I know that number of blocks my query has read was supposed to be read.
    How can I be sure that my query is reading actual data related to my query and not wasting time by reading some unwanted blocks.
    Hope I am a bit clear with my confusion. I just wanted to understand like why do we generate 10046 level trace then If we dont know If trace has happened at perfect level without reading any junk or unwanted blocks. There might be a situation when my stats are invalid(old) and query is performing search on unused blocks.... just to see if data is there..

    I have Oracle 11G, i have seen the sql statements through Historical AWR option from Top Activites in performance tab. Can i export all AWR query statistics from production machine so that i can analyze all logs after importing it.
    How can i know all statistical sql ( information ) and performace of production machine ?

    have you checked the DBA_HIST* objects to see what / how was imported?
    If the awr export dosn't get the contents of the rolling buffer, then you won't see any session statistics that are only there. If you want to get the contents of the rolling buffer you have to dump the contents of it with :
    oradebug setmypid
    oradebug dump ashdump 10
    and load it into your "test" database.
    But before doing this I suggest you read the related metalink documentation if any!!!

  • Sessions with Event "class slave wait" taking 100% CPU

    Hi experts,
    I have an issue in an 11.2.0.2 RAC database with 2 standby nodes that are driving me nuts.
    All started when I've been told there are 2 Oracle processes consuming too much CPU in the environment.
    I found 2 processes which takes 100% CPU each. These processes are Oracle processes into the DB and checking them out although they are registered in v$process and v$session, there is nothing related to them in v$bgprocess so I could not find out which oracle processes started these 2 OS processes.
    The view v$session shows them ACTIVE in the event "class slave wait". There aren't too much information about this event, at least I failed to find...
    Using dbms_monitor and dbms_system to create trace events did not create any tracefile. Only ORADEBUG was able to create events but with nearly no information inside the trace files.
    Questions I need to have answered or at least hints that I can follow to find the answer:
    1) what is causing the CPUs to be consumed at 100%? Which process?
    2) Why does these processes are using that much of CPU?
    3) What can be done to safely get over it?
    Honestly I don't know where else to look at except trying to get some help. Could someone give me a hand please?

    Here are the answers:
    1. If it is RAC there is no such construct as a "standby node" and you say you have two of them. Please be specific ... is this RAC or Data Guard or a combination? Or do you have a three node cluster with all services pointing to only a single server wasting all of the resources of the other three?
    A: This is a combination of them. We have 2 nodes in a RAC environment shipping logs to two physical standby databases in another site.
    2. Two processes can not be at 100% of CPU any more than I can be 200% awake. Please show us how you arrived at this conclusion, on what hardware and operating system, and include a formatted (read the FAQ to learn how) extract showing what you are seeing.
    A: top in Linux shows two oracle processes consuming 100% (or nearly of it) of 1 CPU each. This is a 16 cores server (each primary node) so 2 of these are working on full capacity to service the described processes.
    3. What processes? Name them and again run a SQL statement and post the output so we can see what you are looking at.
    A: Like I said before I failed to find which background process they belongs to as there are no indications of them in v$bgprocess and in v$session/v$process either. I can see them in v$process and v$session but again, there are no indications of for which bg process they belong to.
    4. Is anything slow? Are there any problems with the system or are you only reacting to two numbers you think are too high?
    A: No, system is not slow because of that but the client wants to investigate and have it sorted as it is not normal.
    Additionally I found a bug in metalink which seems to be the culprit, but I'm unsure yet. This is Bug 12929268 : HIGH CPU ON ORA_O00N PROCESS
    Is any other information that I may provide you?

  • Creating custom LOV in 11.5.10.2

    Hi,
    We are new to Web ADI and are having problems with creating custom LOV. It seems that custom templates can only have poplists defined. Is this true? And if so, how do we get around the problem of the 256 row limitation? Has anyone created lovs for custom templates for 11.5.10.2?

    The only supported way to enable trace concurrent requests from the application is what you already know. So, I believe there is no other way to enable trace. Since the issue with custom concurrent requests only, then I believe it is something with the reports/module registration.
    I am not sure why there are no values stored in FND_CONCURRENT_REQUESTS table (for some columns) when you submit such reports, and I believe if this is resolved you will be able to see the trace files generated. So, is it possible to register any of these custom reports in one of the standard responsibilities and see if the values in the table are populated and/or the trace file get generated then?

    I came across this good article on AQ troubleshooting. Thought of sharing it with all, hence, this post. Out of things mentioned in article, I have outlined a few steps, that helped me in our environment while troubleshooting AQ issues.

    10.1 Check if propagation has been set correctly
    Check that the propagation schedule has been created and that a job queue process has been assigned. Look for the entry in DBA_QUEUE_SCHEDULES and SYS.AQ$_SCHEDULES for your schedule. For 10g and below, check that it has a JOBNO entry in SYS.AQ$_SCHEDULES, and that there is an entry in DBA_JOBS with that JOBNO. For 11g and above, check that the schedule has a JOB_NAME entry in SYS.AQ$_SCHEDULES, and that there is an entry in DBA_SCHEDULER_JOBS with that JOB_NAME. Check the destination is as intended and spelled correctly.
    10.2 Check if a Process_Name has been assigned to a queue, if no process_name is assigned...schedule is not currently executing. You may need to execute this statement no. of times to verify if a process is being allocated.
    10.3 if a process_name is assigned and schedule executing but failing...Refer to step 8 for errors.
    10.4 Check if queue tables exists in sys

    10.5 Check that the remote queue the propagation is transferring messages to exists and is enabled for enqueue
    If the AQ_PROP_NOTIFY queue is not enabled for enqueue or dequeue, it should be so enabled using DBMS_AQADM.START_QUEUE. However, the exception queue AQ$_AQ$_PROP_TABLE_E should not be enabled for enqueue or dequeue.
    11. Check performance of each queue.

    My audio has the scratchy, stuttering, speedy
    problems others have reported. I have followed all
    the tips and recommendations in the troubleshooting
    document for this problem, and I am incredibly
    frustrated.
    I'm running XP and everything was fine on iTunes 6.
    Nothing in my system has changed other than
    installing iTunes 7 - so I can't imagine that there
    is anything out of whack on my system.
    Does anyone have any real solutions for this problem?
    Sorry to report that I too have this problem. I was hoping that someone could help me get back to i-Tunes 6 as that worked very well for me. What I do with the scratchy popping thing for now is I simply close the i-Tunes and restart it. Most of the time that will work on the first try.
    I'm using windows XP also with no other issues.
