OraXE Connection with thin

when making the connection with thin gives the following error me
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified

What is the NLS_LANG settings of your database? Are you able to connect to the database with SQL*Plus? If not, you might want to try posting on the Oracle XE forum and solve that problem first.

  • Marked objects connect with thin line

I work in CS6. When I mark two or more objects they automatically connect with a thin line (and a white square) between them. They are still two separate objects, but the connection between them is shown (and they can be dragged together). Is it possible to change this setting?

That's the selection bounding box, and no, you can't change it.
The bounding box is going to change to be the smallest rectangle that completely encloses all of the selected objects and may look quite different from what you describe if the objects are not the same size and aligned vertically or horizontally.

  • 9iFSRe2 + API + connect with thin-Client

    Hi,
I progam the iFS-APi to connect the iFS.
But under Windows i must install about 100MB.
Under Linux the size of libs i need to connet
    about 10MB.
My Question is can i connect the iFS with
    thin-Client dll?
    thanks for Answer
    bye

Place some debugging code and see if URL is null. Also, although it is nice practice, you don't need to catch every type of exception. Try (no pun intended):
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.err.println(e.getClass().getName() + ":" + e.getMessage());

  • Proxy user connectivity with thin driver

    Hi,
The database I'm working use proxy user authentication. When I select oci8 as driver I can connect using the below login method:
    Host Name : username[proxy user]
    password : password
but it shows as invalid username/password when I select the driver = THIN.
What could be the reason behind this?
    thanks
Edited by: Nadvi on Jul 9, 2010 1:52 PM

    Hi John,
Thanks for your reply. The documentation says, proxy connectivity method is same both for THIN & OCI8 driver. But what I can see is Jdeveloper is somehow misinterpreting the proxy user name.
Ie, Username[Proxy user] and the reason why it throws invalid username/password.
But the same syntax works fine with sqlplus, or any other IDE.
Can anybody guide me on this.
    Thanks

  • DB Connection with thin driver is hanging in Oracel EM 10g

I have couple of J2EE applications deployed in Oracel 10g EM.
The applications build using Struts and JDBC.
I am using java thin driver to make DB Connection
Problem: When ever I make the db connection call, it is hanging there and not returning the db connection.
Observation: I have verified in serverlogs, applicationlogs but nothing i found. Hence I have created a separate static class and make the jdbc connection which is very quick and working fine.
I have ran the below command at the shell prompt: lsof -i:1521 | wc -l
    It returned 128 connections.
I really did not uderstand what exactly went wrong here, Is there any problem with my application server or with my application.
Kindly get back to me what exactly is the wrong here, also Please let me know if you need more information.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Proxy Connection with thin driver

    Hello,
I am using 10g, and bea 81 sp3, I am trying to setup proxy authetication. All the references I find for proxy authetication are using OCI driver. Is proxy authetication supported using oracle 10g thin driver (ojdbc14.jar)? Can anyone provide me an example using thin driver?
    appreciate any help,
    Shailesh

See the following link for documentation on proxy authentication. http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/java.102/b14355/proxya.htm
Also, the release note for 10gR2 JDBC driver installation includes the following text:
    Proxy Authentication
In Oracle 10g R1 we introduced proxy authentication for the
OCI driver. In this release we introduce a common proxy
authentication api that is supported by both the Thin and
OCI drivers. We strongly recommend that you use the common
api instead of the OCI specific api.

  • JDBC Thin Connections with SSL and client certificates

    Hi ,
we are going have a look at JDBC Thin Connections with SSL and client certificates.
    I have two questions:
    1. Is it possible to use SSL connections from JDBC Thin Driver and which release of the driver introduced it
    2. Is it possible to use client certificates with JDBC Thin Driver and which release of the driver introduced it
    Thanks for your help
    regards
    Markus Reichert

I could not reproduce the error after appending the SSL certificate to the certdb.txt file available under $Jinitiator_Home/lib/security folder.
Steps to add the SSL Certificate:
    1. Run the form with the https mode in the IE Browser.
    2. Security Alert is raised.
    3. Click on the View Certificate button.
    4. In the Certificate Window, click on the Details tab.
    5. Click on the Copy to File button to copy the certificate.
    6. Copy the certificate and append to the certdb.txt file.

    1. Is the connection url correct?
    "jdbc:oracle:thin:@PLANET:1521:ORCL" is fine.
    2. Is the TNS listener started?
    c:\oracle\product\ora10\bin> lsnrctl status
    3. Is a firewall between client and database server?
Connection url with firewall would be different.

  • Problems with connection with Oracle Database (Dreamweaver)

I'm trying to create a connection with a oracle database, with JDBC.
In order to do that, I've downloaded the classes12.zip driver in my machine. This is the driver from Oracle.
    I've put this file into directory c:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX\Configuration\JDBCDrivers.
So, I've gone to Window -> Application -> Databases menu into Dreamweaver MX, clicked in the plus (+) signal and choosed Oracle thin Driver (Oracle).
I've filled thin window with the following values:
    Connection name: conn1
    Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    URL: jdbc:oracle:thin:@machinename:1521:SID
    Username: ....
    Password: ...
When I click in the Test button into this window, the following success message appears:
    Connection was made successfully!
But when I go to Bindings window to build a Recordset, the connection doesn't get the tables, and the following error message appears:
Unable to retrieve tables from this connection, click on 'Define...' button to test this connection.
Does somebody know the answer for this problem?
    Thank you.

Don't bother with a loopback adapter unless you are using a laptop that needs Oracle to work whether connected or unconnected to the business network. Much simpler to just arrange for DHCP to assign you a fixed IP address (a lease reservation).
It's the change of IP address which trips Oracle up, not the existence of DHCP. So if you can make sure your IP address will be the same, no matter how you acquire it, that's all you have to do.
Installing a loopback adapter which isn't the primary interface at the point you install Oracle will mean your installation will get very confused as to whether to address things via the 127... address or the "normal" IP address. And yes, at that point, you'll not be able to connect to instances, or run listeners or do all sorts of other things reliably.
If it were me, I'd uninstall the mess you probably now have as far as Oracle goes, install something like VirtualBox (free) or VMware Workstation (costs) and enjoy your Oracle experience inside the confines of a virtual machine whose networking setup you can configure and control to your heart's content, without it screwing up your real machine's ability to connect to your work's network when it needs to.

  • Mail continually loses connection with POP server

I have Apple Mail configured to check two different POP accounts and one GMAIL account.  On one of the two POP accounts, and on the GMAIL account, there is generally no problem.  But for the other POP account, Mail continually loses the connection, such that often when I check Mail a popup box says:
    "Unable to Receive Mail
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Ceccam” or try again.
The server returned the error: The server “mail.ceccam.org.mx” cannot be contacted on port 110."
If I open the connection doctor, it shows no connection with "Ceccam." Clicking "check again" does not help.
The only thing that works, is to close and then re-open Mail, after which it successfully connects to "Ceccam" and manages to check the mail there several times, before losing the connection again, after which I need to close and re-open Mail again.  This is driving me crazy.
I have both of my POP accounts configured the same way in Mail.  So why does Mail continually lose the connection to one of them, and never lose the connection to the other?
Can anybody suggest how to solve this?
    Thank you.
PS This problem only cropped up after I upgraded to Mavericks.

The saga continues... my patience is getting very thin. I've spent hours trying to get this to work and am now naming the companies involved.
I since the issue might be due to the SIM card, I went to an Orange (the service provider) in question to get a new SIM. They gave me a new one in 5 minutes. On putting in the phone, all appeared to work for a while (I could makeand receive calls), then the phone reported "Invalid SIM". It found the network again on a reboot, then a short while later the message Invalid SIM appeared again.
A call to Orange said that the card had not been fully initialised. So I turn off the phone, Orange make some kind of tweak on their side, and tell me to turn on the phone again. It finds the network - but not for long, a couple of hours later, it reports "Invalid SIM" again.
Another call to Orange, who tell me the phone may be defective, it cannot reliably read the SIM card. Normally they would replace the phone, but since I bought it from the The Phone House, it's not their responsibility. So the phone house directs me to Orange, and Orange directs me to an Apple store.
Apple - you are my last hope.

  • Database access error: Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor

    Hi All,
I am using oracle 11g client library on Linux 64bit machine and trying to connect to oracle database using jdbc thin driver.
The url format what I am trying to use is:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@IP address:port:service_name
When service_name = orcl : I am able to connect with the above syntax.
But when the service_name is having . e.g service_name = orcl.177.39.45, with the above format I get the above error.
If I change the URL syntax to following, it works
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@IP address:port/service_name
But both seems to be valid syntax.
So I would like to undestand the reason behind the same.
When service_name is having ".", why ":"  does not work and "/"  works and when the service_name is without " ." , 1st format works.
Is there any specific reason behind same?
    Please let me know,
    Thanks,
    Aarati

    Hello,
as per the suggetion, I replaced the URL in the format
    URL=jdbc:oracle:thin:@15.154.47.235:1521/ORCL
    original URL :
    URL=jdbc:oracle:thin:@15.154.47.235:1521:ORCL
With this I was able to access the main page and was not getting database access.
But when I tried to perform some operations say list the submitted jobs, our application internally contacts Oracle database and gets the information stored in the database.
its not able to get and it throws exception.
So is there any reason behind this?
