Order of starting db,listener in 11i

Hi,
This is silly question. what is the order of starting/stopping db and db listener in 11i.
1). We take cold backup every fri and in the backup log file i see that the addlnctl.sh stop <SID> is hanging and after that the whole system (O/S) is hanging.
The O/S Enterprise Linux AS 4.
Appl: 11.5.10.2
DB:10.2.0.3
I modified the script last week to stop
stop db in immediate mode
stop the db listner
start the db
stop db in normal mode
But the backup itself was not taken coz the logfile ends with
shutting down database listener....
Is ther any problem with the order of executing the scripts in the above pattern.
I followed,
Startup/Shutdown order
Any metalink note would be appreciated.
But want to make sure.
Regards
Taher.

Hi Taher;
This is silly question. what is the order of starting/stopping db and db listener in 11i.I belive there is no silly question ;) feel to ask question freely here

Is ther any problem with the order of executing the scripts in the above pattern.I am using cold backup script for my instance too. My script working as:
1. STOPPING ORACLE SERVICES:
#Stop Oracle e-Business Suite Services:
Firts close appl side:
su - $ORA_OWNER_APP -c "$COMMON_TOP/admin/scripts/$SID_HOST/adstpall.sh apps/apps"
sleep 240
then close lsnr and database:
su - $ORA_OWNER_DB -c "$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/scripts/$SID_HOST/addlnctl.sh stop $ORA_SID_DB"
su - $ORA_OWNER_DB -c "$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/scripts/$SID_HOST/addbctl.sh stop immediate"
2. Starting ORACLE SERVICES:
# Start the Oracle e-Business Suite Services
su - $ORA_OWNER_DB -c "$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/scripts/$SID_HOST/addbctl.sh start"
su - $ORA_OWNER_DB -c "$ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/scripts/$SID_HOST/addlnctl.sh start $ORA_SID_DB"
su - $ORA_OWNER_APP -c "$COMMON_TOP/admin/scripts/$SID_HOST/adstrtal.sh apps/apps"
I belive if you follow this way you wont have problem, this method working so well for me
Hope it helps

  • Transport Gateway doesn't appears to start web listener

Tried installing Transport Gateway 3.5 under CentOS 6.x. I can start the process and I see a couple of items in the process list for it, but I don't see anything listening on port 80 when looking at the output from netstat and, of course, dont' see anything when trying to access the web gui.
    Any ideas?

    That's what I suspected.
Hmm. Curious. It doesn't seem to want to start a listener on the http or https ports. I see it listening on localhost:31000 and 32000, but I'm pretty certain those are used for something other than the web interface for the app.

Opened a case with TAC, but the rep is insisting that I neeed a GUI on the linux machine in order to troubleshoot, but I don't see how that would matter, so we'll see where that goes.
Not seeing much helpful in the log files. Seems pretty clean. No mention of missing components or unable to start services in either /var/log/messages or in the log files for the app.
I get a couple of processes: one wrapper process and the other is com.cisco.ca.csp.cso.conn.tg.service.TGServiceMain
I see in the jettyconfig.properties file that it has 80 and 443 conigured for http and https and the TGServiceMain process has the jars for jetty in the command line.

  • What is the order of starting the services?

    Hi,
I have 2 node RAC with ASM. what is the order of starting the services like crs, asm, nodeapps, db, ,listener?
    can you help me?
    Thanks

The basic steps are asm, crs, db, listener, nodeappsTypo there? First CRS then ASM.
Also, if you are running ocfs2, then the very 1st step would be ocfs2 (if your voting and OCR disks are on a ocfs2 volume, it needs to mount before CRS can start).

I'm trying to add a playlist manually to my iPhone 4. It won't let me because it's trying to delete all of the music currently on my iPhone. Is there any way to prevent this from happening in order to start manually updating it?

Are you leaving the box unchecked to Manually manage music & videos? You don't need to to add anything to the iPhone.
Simply drag the playlist to the iPhone to manually add it.

  • How do I get my ipod to play a playlist from reverse order? (Start with recently added song instead of first added)

How do I get my ipod to play a playlist from reverse order? (Start with recently added song instead of first added)
So I'm adding new songs to a very old playlist? Is there anyway that when I add them, they automatically go to top of playlist? How about getting one song to the top of a playlist.  That drag to arrange function is very annoying because it is slow and the playlist does not scroll up very well on a PC.

Make a new playlist by pressing the little plus button at the very lower left corner of iTunes. An new playlist will appear in the Source pane called "untitled playlist". While the name is highlighted, you can change it to whatever you want. Drag all of the tracks from all the albums that comprise a single book to that playlist. Sync that playlist to your iPod.

  • If You Want To Know When iPhone Pre-Order Will Start...

You should go to the Apple website (http://www.apple.com/iphone/) and set it up so that you get sent a text message when they are ready to pre-order.
To do this, enter your phone number as an e-mail address. I'm not sure of the ones outside of the States, but with AT&T, you enter it like "[email protected]". You can try this...send yourself an e-mail to that format, and it'll show up as a text.
Now, when Apple starts to send out their e-mail letting us know when the pre-orders have started, you'll receive it as a text.
EDIT: Completely unrelated to this topic, but "[email protected]" works for MMS's. If you attach a picture and send it off to this "e-mail", it'll send the pic to the phone.

  • Order of starting services in Hyperion System 9 release 9.3.1

    Hi,
How important is the order of starting services in 9.3.1. ?
I mean does this needs to be done manually every time or does Hyperion takes care of this automatically (including dependencies), if I set this to "automatic" in the services panel?
If not how to set up dependencies among services in the "services" panel of windows?
Or Is there any script provided for the sequential start of services?
    cheers
    H

    Hi,
You can go any way either make all services startup type Automatic
or(manually) start it sequential or use script to start
but in production Environment I suggest you to make a script to startup and shutdown the hyperion services.
Start order Your Database must be running
    Hyperion S9 OpenLDAP
    Hyperion S9 Shared Services
    Hyperion S9 BI+ 9.3 Core Services
Hyperion Essbase Administration Service (if essbase is installed)
    Hyperion Interactive Reporting Service
    Hyperion Workspace Application Server
    Hyperion WebAnalysis Application Server
    Hyperion Financial Reporting Services
    Hyperion Financial Reporting Application Server
    Hope this will help
    Thanks

hello! My iMac frozed and I had to switch the electricty supply off and on in order to start again the system, with the problem that the screen looks wierd, I tried to calibrate it... doesnt works any suggestion?

Dear Paul, thank you very much for your time and answer, I followed those steps, somehow it helped the performance of my Imac, is faster now, but the screen issue about the very High contrast colours is still there. Since I am a photographer I am very depending on the screen calibration. I am worried that I came to damage the video card when I shut down the computer from the swicth when It was frozed.
