Order Settlement and variance booking

I require one clarification.
Here one production order was created with a big quantity few months ago and the same has been completed and finished in this month. Because of this the total variance which is very huge has been posted in this month in the Price Difference Account.  Because of this the profit fot the period has come down very much.
It seems that the above process had no errors.  I hope we cannot settle the variance in each month so that the variance will be posted in each month.  I think variance will be posted once the entire order is finished and settled, right ?  In that case to avoid this kind of situation, instead of one single order, can be create multiple orders with lesser quantity and settle it so that we need not wait for these number of months and settle the variance altogether in the period when the order is settled ?
One more clarification.  For the already settled order, can we split the order into multiple orders again and do the above process ?

Hi Niki
It seems you are in DISCRETE scenario i.e. Settlement type is FUL
With FUL - Variance calculation is dependant on Order status... ONly DLV & TECO status goes for variance calculation....
With PER (Periodic scenario using PCC) - Variance calculation is not dependant on Order Status... You can calculate variance each month
a. You can change the settlement type from FUL to PER in your Order Type.. Thats one solution... However, WIP will be calculated @ Target cost instead of actual cost
b. You can also create orders for smaller qty and retain the settlement type FUL
c. Explore with your PP guy if you can use Prod Cost Collector i.e. repetitive scenario instead of Discrete....
d. For the already posted order - You cant split it now.. Its better you forget it now...

    Pls provide T-code..
    I need steps like PP..

  • Producting order settlement and batch

    Dear all consultants!
I have an issue. I want to manage value by batch. i use the follow way:
    -  use batch and valuation type. when good receipt from production order, i identify an certain batch and an valuation type.
    - then, about variance, i do execute production order normally . when i see result, amount of variance of production order is be settled to Material (not by batch and valuation type). I run MB52/MB5C to check stock and value of stock, but value is not be changed after executing settlement production order.
The thing i care that how to post variance of production order to correspondent batch/valuation type.
    any idea will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Dear Ajay M!
I do test as you said.
    - Do the GR and settle the Prod order - Variance is loaded and be settle to Material. But when i check stock and value both at plant level and batch level, i cant find that amount of variance. Value of stock is not change before and after i run execute. I even cant find report to display that amount.
    - Do the GR - Consume the Output to a Cost center or Prod order - Then settle the Prod order.. In this case, the variance must not be loaded on other inventory... It should be hit to PRD --> i consume finished product. then i execute settlement, but result is not different with first case.
    what should i go continue?
the things i care that i want to control product costing (or actual  cost of good manufacture by batch).
    Thanks in advance.

  • Production order and Variance

    Hi,
I need some clarifictions on production order settlement and variance.
Our PP consultant created one PO.Before release of PO they took standard cost estimate it is showing 9000. In this stnadard cost estimate we are calculating the scrap credit also and scrap credit 1000 and we are mainting for cost center also for scrap credit.
while doing of production of settlement we saw that actual amount is 11000.
As per my knowledge When the production order settlement scrap debit also should settle to scrap cost center. Then our scrap cost center will be 0. But everything is settle except scrap and it is not giving any error also. My doubt is whether scrap is settled or does it was clubbed to any other receiver.
One more question. Why we have to settle the order and why we have to run the variance for order. Does it provides any advantage to the management.
    Please guide me deeply.
It is very urgent for me.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Sateesh
please check the distribution rule for settlement, you may have put 100 (Full) settlemnt for 1st  Receiver type say Material
Enev if yo maintained two receiver type in order then also if the first one is Full settlement then system will not able take the second receiver type
I think it is going to your 1st receiver type
    Thanks

  • What is the difference between TECO and Order settlement?

What is the diff. between TECO and order settlement and what is the use of both?

    Hi,
Technical completion means ending a production order from a logistical viewpoint. This function is usually used, if the execution of an order has to be stopped prematurely or if the order could not be executed in the required manner and open requirements for the order (reservations, capacities) should be deleted.
Where as Settlement of an order is carried out periodically to settle the costs related to the order to a settlement receiver.

  • Allocating Standard and Variances of Production Costs into CO-PA

    Hi Experts,
I would like to ask you about the process of allocating eg. humal labour into CO-PA.
    Lets have an example:
We have planned to spend 10 hours on some action. But actually we have spent 20 hours.
When we allocate our time from some PC, we have to allocate actuals, that means 20 hours, which will come into CO-PA online.
At the end of the period we run Production Order Settlement and find the variance.
What will now happen do distinquish between the planned costs and variances?
Thanks in advance for your answers!
    Kindly Regards,
    Radek

    Hi,
I am not really sure about your question
We have planned to spend 10 hours on some action. But actually we have spent 20 hours.
When we allocate our time from some PC, we have to allocate actuals, that means 20 hours, which will come into CO-PA online.
At the end of the period we run Production Order Settlement and find the variance
The 20 hours will only flow to Production order and not to COPA online.
Whatever the difference between the planned actual vlaues in the cost centers, they will come a cost center variance report. It does not effect any where else.
But if there are any balances left out (difference between the total cost collect to the cost centers and the cost obsorbed to production orders etc), this values need to be assessed to COPA using COPA Assessment cycles
I hope i touched your question.
Please do let me know if your question is different. If it is different, please rephrase your question
    best regards

  • Production order settlement accounting entry

    Hi,
Can u gibve some link what is production order settlement ,  and how the accounting entry is generated,  our PP person have done the settlement in april 2010  but accounting entry are not updated in the corresponding g/l account how to check this.
    regards,
      zafar

Production order settlement is just a process of closing the order after goods recipt (production) is being booked in system
Production order settle the costs to CCNs from the orders. It doesnt have any entry unless under / over absorption. In that case following entry will be generated (i.e. of difference amount)
Inventory Change Dr. To Inventory & vice a versa as the case may be of under/over absorption.
If you go thru MB5B for the material, you will find the same without any Mvt. type.
    Hope it is clear.

  • Cut off period for sales order settlement

    Dear Expert,
Client using SAP from last  13 years. Client implemented MTO with valuated stock and activated the COPA.
Now we are re implementing the COPA. since go live(from last 13 years ) they are not doing any sales order settlements and not using COPA.
In sales order RA key(Requirement class) is assigned and Settlement type is 'FUL'.
Now client has decided to use COPA and going to live with new structure on September 1 2014.
I have do the below changes
    1. Removed RA key(Not required as per business requirement)
    2. Changed settlement type from 'FUL' to PER., here i am having some questions. Client don't want to settle previous orders(before September). as per business requirement they will use one sales order for long time (3 to 4 months). after going live client will settle the sales orders at that time system will consider all sales orders. How can i avoid selection of all sales orders. i want to settle only sales orders having transactions during one month (September)
To avoid this problem now its self i am moving this changes to Production client (RA key removed and Settlement type change), still i am not confident i will get as expected, because at the time of Sales order settlement system will consider all old sales orders.
Can anyone please suggest beat way to handle this issue...
    Thanks.
    Chandrasekhar

    Hi Chandra,
    Check the Below SAP Note
    174815
    - Selection parameter in VA88 or RKO7VA88
    Symptom
During the settlement of sales and distribution documents with Transaction
VA88 or report RKO7VA88, you can only select according to the SD document number
    or the sales organization.
For example, you cannot select by plant or SD
    document type.
    Other Terms
    VA88
    Reason and Prerequisites
The problem occurs due to a previous program design.
    Solution
With the attached advance correction, you can also select according to the
plant or the SD document type in report RKO7VA88.The previous restrictions apply
    for Transaction VA88.
To correct the error in advance, proceed as
    follows:
    1. First implement Notes 174502 and 182735.
    2. Using Transaction SE11, add field VBAUART (data element AUART) to
structures LKO74 and RKASS. Activate the structures.
    3. Add the following parameter to the interface of function module
    SD_DOCUMENT_OBJNR_GET (Transaction SE37):
    a) Import parameter:I_WERKS (reference field VBAP-WERKS) and I_AUART
(reference field VBAK-AUART). Both parameters should be indicated as
    'optional'.
    b) Export parameter:E_WERKS (reference field VBAP-WERKS) and E_AUART
    (reference field VBAK-AUART).
    4. Implement the source code corrections.
    5. Maintain the text elements for report RKO7VA88 (Transaction SE38, Goto
--> Text elements --> Selection texts):Text 'Sales document type' for
    VBAUART and 'Plant' for WERKS.
    Afterwards, also implement Note 210011.

  • Process Order Settlement without GR or GI

    Hello,
I have a quick question that I need help with please. A process order has no Goods Receipt yet (only consumption) as of month-end when we settle all orders. Will such an order settle and post an entry to GL even though it is not completed yet?
Also, if an order has Goods Receipt but no consumption (I know it doesnt make sense, but it is an error order), will it still settle?
    Thanks,
    Gligor.

    Hi,
If I understood correctly, you have consumptions of RM from your inventory but you dont have production GR.  You wanted to do the order settlement.
    - Why do you want to settle order that is not completed in production?  If there are any expenses on the order during the month, shouldn't these expenses be tracked as WIP?
    - Also, for the case where there are GR without GI, are there any activity consumptions on the process order?
    Thanks,
    Ram

  • Order settlement

    Hi
We have an issue, our client is having Internal order and it is settled to CO-PA. But now they want to change the profit center in the IO master data, where as postings are already done with different profit center. One of the characteristics in CO-PA for the IO is also PC
If we change the Profit center from old to new one what will be the impact? Can we do the change and make all the posting to flow the CO-PA even for the previous order settlement and after the change.
    Thank you

One impact will be that a new PA Segment will be generated and if you report by profit center, there will be information under the two profit centers
How much has been done with the old profit center and how desparate are you that all data report under new PC?
We usually make our change a FYend and live with it.
You could write manual PA entries to move from one PC to the other.
There are program in SAP to "refresh" the PA tables, I am not aware of the specific names, because we have never actually used them  -- big project depending on amount of data.
OSS   Note 70718 - INFO:Correctn of data inconsistency for order recpt   talks about repairs of PA due to errors in Customizing or program errors.  It may give you some insight.
    Approach any change with caution.

  • Orders settle to P&L account

    Hi Experts,
Now, we have such an requirement, we want to settle the orders to P&L account, we can assign the P&L account in the settlement rule, but when we run the settlement, the system ask to assign an CO object (because we this P&L account is managed as cost element).
Of course, we have assign a default CO object to the cost element in OKB9, but we want to select different CO objects for different scenarios. Is there any method for this?
    thanks a lot.
    Yang

    Hi Yang,
What are trying to do exactly? Let us say, you captured some expenses into your Order. (All those expense GL's are other than this 64999999 and they are with Category 1.
Once you want to do the settlement, you want to settle all the Cost on the Order to some GL Account. Isn't it? So, this GL is none other than 64999999 and with 22 category.
If you have created this with 22 category, and assigned in the Allocation Structure under the Settlement Cost Element, when you settle the Order, system will not ask for CO account assignment Objetct.
It is same as when you settle the Production Order, where in we define Change-in-Stock A/c with 22 Category. Kindly check your settings once again and revert back. You can still refer IDES where in you will find the Change-in-Stock A/c 895000 with 22 category (check the GL No. I don't remember exactly)and which is used for Production Order settlement, and system doesn't ask for any CO Account Assignment Object.
    Check and Revert back...

  • KO88/CO88 Production Order Settlement Requires CO Object

    Dear SAP Experts,
My client has two different plants (2000 and 2100). This is the first month end for 2100.
We are trying to settle Production Orders for both the plants. There is no issue relating to 2000 but for 2100, we are having an error "Account 52601 requires an assignment to a CO object - Message no. KI235".
Please guide on how to solve this error.
    Best Regards...

    Dear SAP Experts,
Thanks for the comments you all made on my posts.
The error is now solved. I'll brief so that in future, if error like again appears for someone else, they may even check the following:
The issue was that on running KO88/ CO88, there was an error stating GL Account requires Cost Object msg KI235.
On analysing the error, it was found that GL accounts appear from OBYC GBB-AUF which is the account for order settlement and again in OBYC PRD the account for price difference.
It was identified that the same accounts were assigned to both the keys. Price Difference accounts does not have cost element whereas the other account coming from GBB-AUF has Cost Element and the cost object being the Order itself.
The issue was resolved by changing the account assignment on PRD. The new account assigned was Price difference.
    Thanks and Regards...

  • Old orders settled in current period PP/PA variances

    Hi Experts
I have a situation were I ran transaction CO78 to delete old Production orders.  After running the current month variances, it it calculated these and settled settled old (2007/2008/2009/2010) orders into October 2011.
The only thing I can think of is that it was the change done in 2007 that set it to FUL settlement and not PER settlement.  This was a change in the settlement rule by SAP in about 2007 and then I think that  is when I ran C078 it 'activated' old not settled orders.
I reversed all settlements and eventually after reversing individual orders it reversed them, but then I tried to settle them in test mode and it said there is nothing to settle.  After settling one order again live, it had nothing to settle.  When trying to reverse it, it said settlement can only be reversed after last usage which is 2007
This did not happen in the test system.
    Please help
    Dawn

    Hi Naresh,
    Many thanks for the reply,
Can you please tell me while changing the status of Production Order from released to close, where we need to put the closing date
Because as such I do not find any closing date field on Production Order screen

  • Varaince settlement and costing sheet in REM and Production order

for REM, repetetive manufacturing, what's the difference between REM and production order in terms of variance settlement and settlement profile design? what's the difference between process order and production order in terms of variance settlement and settlement profile design?
for actual overhead(fixed and variable), can it be calculated automatically by costing sheet? user is very angry to input actual overhead by jounal entry. also how about plan scrap, how to define it in configuration? besides order confirmation, where can I input actual scrap?

For variances, there is no difference between the 3 diferrent orders. The settlement profile can also be the same.  The real difference from a CO perspective concerns the calculation of WIP and the settlement rule.  Process orders and production orders normally use a full settlement rule (though periodic settlement is also possible) and WIP is calculated based on actual cost.  Repetitive orders only use periodic settlement and WIP is valued at target cost.
From an overhead perspective, there is no difference between the 3 types of orders.  Overhead sheets are assigned through the costing variant and costs are applied through period-end process.
Plan scrap is maintained in master data, either in material master, routing (receipe for process orders), or bill of material.  Acttual scrap usually happens based on the quantity of components issued to the order during confirmation or by the amount of scrap reported during confirmation.  If you are backflushing components, as you normally would do for repetitive, then you can adjusted the consumed quantities by doing an additional goods issue to the order (movement type 261).
    thanks,

  • Error when settling the variances to PA by categories in make to order

I want to settle a production order (Make to order-configurable material) to PA, because It's necessary for us to settle the variances by categories to PA (The PA Transfer structure is customized with the source "Variances on production orders" filling the Variance categories, and the settlement profile settings with the flag "Variances to Costing-Based PA).
The system generates in the production order the distribution rule to material on the settlement rule. This way the settlement doesnu2019t create a PA document, only FI document y CO document where the variances go to the material (the material valuation is V).
If I create, manually, an additional distribution rule to profitability segment on the settlement rule, when I settle the order (KO88) appears the error u201Cmessage no. KD514 - Complete PA transfer structureu201D, but the structure is right.

    Hi,
I want to settle a prodution order ("make to order") which has a distribution rule by default to material (material is valuated as moving average price). Also, I have customized the settlement profile with the flag "Variances to Costing-Based PA". The PA transfer structure is setting by variance categories.
However, when I run the settlement only the FI and CO documents are created, but not a PA document. This is the error to solve.
To solve this, I create a manually, an additional distribution rule to profitability segment on the settlement rule, but when I settle the order (KO88) appears the error u201Cmessage no. KD514 - Complete PA transfer structureu201D, but the structure is right by variance categories.
I think that the settlement must go to PA by variance without create this manually distribution rule
