Ordering of Page Items in Indesign

Hi,
I need to find the ordering (send to Back / send Backwards / Bring to Front / Bring Forward) of page items in Indesign using Apple script.
I couldn't find any solution . In which preferences i need to get this?  Any Ideas about this?
Thanks,
Jacintha

The "page items" collection gives you the objects in their stacking
order, so the index of the item in the collection will be the
placement in the stacking order.

    Hi,
    Iwas also suffering fro the same problem.
    Better to use "ILibrarySuite::DoAddToLibrary()" method.
    Hope it will help you.

  • What is the evaluation order of Page Items

    I just wonder what the execution order of page item assignments are in the page rendering process.
    Sequence (+ Region), Type of items, more clever by checking dependencies ??
    I couldn't find anything here, or looked with the wrong keywords.
    I just need to know, what reliable assumption to make about dependencies amongst page items?
    Is that visible in the APEX code? A pointer to that would be OK.
    Many thanks

    Items are rendered in order of region position/region sequence/item sequence. Item values will be evaluated in this order, but may also be set by computations or processes which run in order of processing point/computation sequence/process sequence.
    You can view page components in event order in the App Builder by selecting the Utilities > Page Events view in the page definition, and the actual sequence of runtime events in the debug trace.That was exactly what I was thinking, but that is not the case as far as I can tell. The order which is shown "*Utilities > Page Events*" seems to be the display order, but not necessarily the evaluation order in order to obtain the values.
    I have a database field that is shown much further down in this sequence, but I have a dependent field that is calculated based on this value and is shown before in that sequence.
    So I was wondering whether there is an implied order - possibly based on the Source Type of the page item.
    And to answer the question. There are no other computations or processes ... other than the associated "Automated Row Fetch" related to the database column used in the page items on the page.

  • How to get UIDRef of the selected page item in indesign cs3

    Hi,
        I want to get the UIDRef of the selected page item like Rectangle Frame. Can you show me the complete code snippet to get the UIDRef of selected Rectangle Frame. I need this UIDRef for getting the geometric bounds properties(width and height) of the selected rectangle frame to display the user in dialog box.
    Regards,
    K.Saravanan.

    Hi,
    UIDList selection;
    InterfacePtr<ISelectionManager> pSelectionManager(Utils<ISelectionUtils>()->GetActiveSelection(), ISelectionManager::kDefaultIID);
    if(pSelectionManager == nil){
    break;
    InterfacePtr<ILayoutTarget> pLayoutTarget(pSelectionManager->QueryConcreteSelectionBoss(kNewLayoutSelectionBoss), ILayoutTarget::kDefaultIID);
    if(pLayoutTarget == nil){
    break;
    selection = pLayoutTarget->GetUIDList(kDontStripStandoffs);
    Then, you can use this interface "IGeometry" to get information about spline size.
    InterfacePtr<IGeometry> pGeometry(selection.GetRef(i), IGeometry::kDefaultIID);
    if(pGeometry== nil){
    break;
    PMRect splineBounds = pGeometry->GetStrokeBoundingBox();
    PMReal width = splineBounds.Height();
    PMReal hight = splineBounds.Width();

  • Text wrap on Master Page items

    RE:  InDesign CS2 on Windows Vista
    Hello,
    I inserted a graphic on both of my master pages and applied a text wrap to them.  However, on my document pages, my text does not wrap around the graphics.  (In the Text Frame Options dialog box, the "Ignore Text Wrap" box is not checked.)  I know I can either override my master page items (and insert the graphic again) or control-shift-click on the graphic and force the text to wrap around it.  But that puts another link to the graphic in my document...and I'm trying to minimize the file size.
    Do you have any ideas on how to make the text wrap on the master pages work on the document pages?

    Text wrap on masters is not honored on live pages in CS2. It was added as feature in CS3.

  • SkillBuilders Modal 2.0 plugin with a page-item button - pass parameters

    Hi all.
    I have an employee table, which is connected with a 1:N relationship to two tables: Emp_Tech_Fields and Emp_Kids.
    I've created a form to update / insert employee data, and I want to add two modal pages: one for kids and one for tech_fields. I think this will be the most usable way for this form.
    I've created two page-item buttons on that form, which open the respective modal pages successfully, but I can't dynamically pass them the EMP_ID in order to filter the data in them.
    Iv'e uploaded an example to http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=64921:1:6401028834215::::: guest / gu12est3
    Document Types is a report with a link-column which opens a modal page with data filtering, as it should.
    Employees (click an edit link) has two buttons: Kids, which open the modal form, but does not filter, and Tech Fields, which is filtered hard-coded with EMP_ID = 1 (see in the dynamic action definition).
    As far as I understand, this should be something quite easy and day-to-day, so I don't know why I did not find a way to do this. What am I missing?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Dovi.

    Hi Dovi,
    I had a look at your application and can see the link your using for the kids and tech fields modal isn't passing the session ID which is why it is asking you to log in again.
    Below is an example URL for your issue, it isn't tested though.
    f?p=&APP_ID.:20:&APP_SESSION.:::19:P20_EMP_ID:&P19_EMP_ID.:: You will need to change the page numbers of the pages and items to match the page numbers of yours. This is using the statically defined url inside the plugin itself, I have also only done this in an earlier version of plugin but believe the functionality is very similar.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I create a page item at a certain LEVEL within a layer?

    I mean, if I have one frame that I brought to the front, and one that I sent to the back, can I create an item that is between the two? Right now everything I create is automatically on top, and I have to do some scripting to figure out where the other items are at, and then step the new item back, back, back, etc. until I get to where I want, testing at every step to see if it's gone too far.
    I can't find a property I can set to move a page item directly to the place in the front-to-back order that I want.
    Am I missing something?

    Z-ordering is not maintained in scripting properties, but you can use methods. Let's assume topframe and newframe. You can then use newframe.sendToBack(topframe);. Note that this is distinct from newframe.sendToBack(), which sends it all the way back. Check the docs, there are also some requirements for co-parantage between topframe and newframe.

  • OAF Tutorial Extension - To add Site Name in Purchase Order Summary Page

    I have gone through all steps for adding Supplier Site Name for Purchase Order Summary Page. It works but seems it shows SiteID instead of Site Name.
    The main instructions says
    Step 2.3 Create Your New View Object (VO)
    Make a copy the PoSummaryVO query statement before you begin creating your new VO. Expand the oracle.apps.fnd.framework.toolbox.tutorial.server package in the Navigator pane and edit PoSummaryVO. In the View Object Editor, select Query to display the query statement for this VO. Make a copy of the query statement.
    Create a new VO, named <YourName>PoSummaryVO, that extends oracle.apps.fnd.framework.toolbox.tutorial.server.PoSummaryVO.
    Create the VO in the <yourname>.oracle.apps.fnd.framework.toolbox.tutorial.server package.
    Add the oracle.apps.fnd.framework.toolbox.schema.server.SupplierSiteEO entity object. Leave the Read Only and Reference checkboxes checked. We are going to use this entity object only for read-only purposes.
    Add the SupplierSiteId and SiteName attributes from the SupplierSiteEO entity object.
    Paste the query statement that you copied from PoSummaryVO into the query statement field for <YourName>PoSummaryVO. Now append the following SQL phrases to the copy of the PoSummaryVO query statement to compose the query statement for the <YourName>PoSummaryVO.
    SELECT ...,
    SupplierSiteEO.SUPPLIER_SITE_ID,
    SupplierSiteEO.SITE_NAME
    FROM ...,
    FWK_TBX_SUPPLIER_SITES SupplierSiteEO
    WHERE ...
    AND SupplierEO.SUPPLIER_ID = SupplierSiteEO.SUPPLIER_ID
    Step 2.8 Personalize the UI to Display Your New Attribute
    Rebuild the ExtendLab project and make sure you have no errors.
    Run the <Yourname>PoSummaryCreatePG.xml page with personalization turned on (see Personalizing Your Pages and Portlets for more information on how this is done).
    Select the Personalize Page global link.
    In the Choose Personalization Context page, select Page: <Yourname> Framework Toolbox Tutorial: Multistep Create from the Scope poplist and select the Apply button.
    In the Personalize Page page, check the Complete View radio button for the Personalization Structure. Expand the Stack Layout: Purchase Order Summary Region node, locate the Table: Purchase Orders Table entry in the page hierarchy and select the Create Item icon.
    In the Create Item page:
    Set the Item Style to Message Styled Text.
    Set the ID to SiteName.
    Set the Prompt to Supplier Site
    Set the View Attribute to SiteName
    Set the View Instance to PoSummaryVO1
    Select the Apply button
    In the Personalize Page Hierarchy page, locate the Table: Purchase Orders Table entry again and select the Reorder icon.
    In the Reorder Contents of Table page's Site list, move the Supplier Site item to be sequenced immediately after the Supplier item.
    Select the Apply button.
    In the Personalize Page Hierarchy page, select the Return to Application link. Now you should see the Supplier Site column added to the Orders Table as shown in Figure 1 (you should see your name in the page title).
    Note: We set the View Instance to PoSummaryVO1 and not <YourName>PoSummaryVO1. The BC4J substitution will take care of properly creating an instance of <YourName>PoSummaryVO1 at runtime in place of the PoSummaryVO1.
    It does not show site name, it shows site id after havig done personalization.
    Any idea why it would show site id and not site name.
    KD

    What I found is there are 2 variables SiteName and SiteName1, if you use SiteName1 then it shows proper value as a site description. I replaced SiteName with SiteName1 and it works. This might help to all who are like me and trying Tutorial example.
    I am not sure how many may have tried OAF - Tutorial examples. They are really complicated and not easy and in most cases they are not coming out in first try but if you really try then it will give lot of understanding.

  • Anchored page item in chained frames

    Hi all,
    I'm using an "anchored object" page item with custom positioning, x reference is relative to the right border of the frame. The anchor is in a preceding paragraph (could be multiple lines away) in order to enable text wrap around that object. We recently have turned to use multiple chained frames. When the anchor is close to the bottom of one frame, this causes the object to show up below that frame rather than to follow its imaginary reference line, where it used to be in a single frame.
    Short from writing a script or plugin to do the adjustments, did I miss any built-in way to anchor objects so they follow the text flow of their surrounding (rather than their anchor) across frame breaks, and still allow for text wrap and frame relative x position?
    Version in use is CS4, but I'd also like to hear if CS5 has improved in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Dirk

    Hi, Dirk:
    Some time ago, I think I found that the info here: http://www.adobepress.com/articles/article.asp?p=1324259 put me on the right path. IIRC, it has something to do with the position where the anchored object is inserted, which I think is at the beginning of the paragraph (again, IIRC I'm not rereading the article now.)

  • Trouble with using javascript $s function to populate a page item

    Hello Oracle APEX Community,
    I'm working on a drilldown dashboard page and have been encountering a problem when i try to populate a Text Page Item (hidden or not) using the javascript built in $s function.
    The function works great when the data is a number such as dept_id (even if the field type is varchar). However, trying to pass anything which is a text the process fails, except when a value is hard-coded as a parameter for the function. So for example, I have a chart with counts of constituents by state. I would like to populate (filter) a table based on when you click on a bar for a state without having to submit the page. I'm using dynamic actions and a built in javascript function in the SQL for the chart to accomplish this; but again, it works great when I use a varchar field like the FIPS code (i.e. the FIPS for Texas is '48'), but when I try to populate the page item using the state abbreviation 'TX' (again varchar) it fails.
    Here's an example of code that works:
    SELECT 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO",'||d.deptno||')' LINK,
    d.dname LABEL,
    sum(e.SAL) sal
    FROM emp e, dept d
    where e.deptno = d.deptno
    group by 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO",'||d.deptno||')', d.dname And here's an example of code that does not work:
    SELECT 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO",'||d.loc||')' LINK,
    d.dname LABEL,
    sum(e.SAL) sal
    FROM emp e, dept d
    where e.deptno = d.deptno
    group by 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO",'||d.loc||')', d.dname However, when I hard code a text value the script works:
    SELECT 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO","BOSTON")' LINK,
    d.dname LABEL,
    sum(e.SAL) sal
    FROM emp e, dept d
    where e.deptno = d.deptno
    group by 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO","BOSTON")', d.dname
    ORDER BY d.dname I'm encountering this problem on several versions of APEX: (4.0.2.00.07-local installation) and (4.1.0.00.28-apex.oracle.com)
    Does anybody know of this problem and how to solve it? I've looked for settings on the page item itself, and can't figure it out.
    I've re-written my sql to utilize the value fields of my tables instead but I have some objects on the page which are really going to depend on the character based data instead.
    Thanks,
    Wayne

    In your javascript you are generating, surround your value with double-quotes and it'll should then always work with both numbers and strings (your strings are probably being interpreted as variable names and they don't exist at runtime, hence erroring out).
    Example:
    SELECT 'javascript:$s("P1_DEPTNO","'||d.loc||'")' LINK,Edited by: gti_matt on Aug 16, 2011 9:50 AM

  • Get the type of a Page Item

    Hey guys,
    i am working on an inDesign extension. i have a requirement to go through the document elements. i was able to get all pageItem objects on a doc page.
    i am now trying to figure out what is the type of each pageItem so i am using the following code that i found in here:
    http://cssdk.host.adobe.com/sdk/2.1/docs/WebHelp/app_notes/indesign_pa ge_items.htm
    //Given a page item "myPageItem" of unknown type:
    var myPageItemType:String = flash.utils.getQualifiedClassName(myPageItem);
    this is supposed to give me for example: com.adobe.indesign::Rectangle
    instead all items are returning: com.adobe.indesign::PageItem
    any idea what i am doing wrong here?
    Thank for the your help.

    what about this - look up the javadoc to get more >info ....You would have to admit, while BI Beans are great, the documentation is a little light.
    int targetHPos[] = targetDataAccess.getEdgeCurrentHPos (2);
    now apply the order to the targethpos as you like...now, once you make your changes to the targetHPos, how does one actually make the change to the Query object (i.e. what method does one need to call to pass the new targetHPos in??) I looked through the JavaDoc and didn't see a SetCurrentHPos or equivalent function in the DataAccess Class. Is there one?
    Also, what role, if any, should the SetCurrentPage method of the query object play if I'm not using it correctly?

  • Setting Page Item from Hyperlink

    Hi,
    I am currently developing an APEX application that will show a Google map of our kiosk locations. It builds the javascript in a PL/SQL package using htp.print. For each marker it displays for the kiosk, I'm customizing the info window displayed when the marker is clicked to show the kiosk name, the address and some hyperlinks. One of these hyperlinks will go to another APEX page that displays orders for that kiosk. So, what I'm trying to accomplish is to set a page item value on the page when the hyperlink is clicked that will be used in a page query to pull the orders. I am not much of a javascript programmer, so I'm having some issues. Here is what i'm currently attempting:
    Withiin the FOR loop that builds my markers, I have defined a 'function' as follows:
    htp.print('function setKioskCode (P4_KIOSK_CODE) {');
    htp.print('var kioskcode = '||''''||<location from cursor loop>||''''||';');
    htp.print('$x('||''''||'P4_KIOSK_CODE'||''''||').value = kioskcode;');
    htp.print('}');Then, this is how I'm building the hyperlink in the info window (i've removed the link tags and single quotes so I could post the code). Using this method, I get an error on the load of the map page that says ' Expected ")" '. I can't find any syntax errors in what i have done from what I can tell (I could definitely be wrong!).
    l_order_link := href="f?p='||v('APP_ID')||':6:'||v('SESSION')||'" onclick="javascript:setKioskCode('||''''||'P4_KIOSK_CODE'||''''||');">OrdersWhen I remove the parameter value from the javascript call like this. It loads the map successfully, but, of course, the hyperlink on the marker info window doesn't work.
    l_order_link := href="f?p='||v('APP_ID')||':6:'||v('SESSION')||'" onclick="javascript:setKioskCode();">OrdersAny help would be much appreciated. And please let me know if you need any further info.
    Thanks,
    Troy

    Thanks for the reply, Jari.
    I have determined you definitely have to use the v('APP_ID') and v('SESSION') in the href statement. Otherwise, it puts the &APP_ID. and &APP_SESSION. in the URL.
    I tried the 'onclick' syntax you provided and it still does not work. I get the error I reported above. It's looking for the closing parenthesis and doesn't like a parameter being provided. If i remove the parameter from the function, the page loads and the hyperlink goes to the proper page but it doesn't populate the page item. I don't know why it doesn't like a parameter for the function.
    Thanks, Troy.
