Org. Attribute Inheritance Model and Strategy

Hi all -
We are currently replicating the org. from SAP HR, but are looking for any suggestions on defining an attribute inheritance model for SRM specific attributes.
Any suggestions? The org has approximately 15,000 positions.

The following attribute which is common to all the users can be inherited at the Organisation level.
Say for Example there are 5 organisation
for Org : 1 :Common attribute : These are the attribute common for say 200 employees so you can give at the org and tick
the inherited so that you can again enter the same for all the employees.

VENDOR_ACS.

Permit user to administrate Model AND have read-only attributes

This issue concerns SQL Server Master Data Services 2012
I have a scenario where the same user is handling data and doing version management. Now I want to make one attribute in one specific entity read-only as I want to make sure the attribute is never changed.
The problem is, as soon as I set the read-only privilege on the attribute, the user
loses all administrative rights on the entire model. This, of course, includes version management.
I've tried working around the issue by making sure the user has explicit update permissions on both the model and the entity (and all attributes except the one I need read-only). But the result is the same.
Does anyone know a workaround?

I think if you explicitly grant the update permissions, it should work. According to the MSDN doc. Could you please check if the user belongs to other hierarchy?
When a member belongs to multiple hierarchies
Two or more hierarchies can contain the same member.
•If one hierarchy node is assigned Update permission and another is assigned Read-only, then the members in the node are Read-only.
•If one hierarchy node is assigned Update or Read-only permission and another node is assigned Deny, then the members in the node are not displayed.

Database modeling and -concepts

Hello,
I'm still quite new to Oracle Databases.
At the moment I'm looking into the topics round "database modeling", "database concepts", e.g. rules to design the tables and relationships and so on.
Maybe someone can help me where I can find some whitepapers, documentations on Oracle sites which show me the best or basic ways how to define tables and relationships between database objects in an Oracle Database?
For example, i heard it would be a good way to put all "not null" columns of a table to the beginning when defining it with "CREATE TABLE"-statement.
Does anyone know where i can find helpful whitepapers or documentations on these topics in the ORacle Technology Network or somewhere else?

First of all you need to distinguish between data modelling and implementation. Because many tools only deal with the physical side of database design (tables, columns, indexes) it is quite common for beginners to miss this distinction.
Data modelling (entities, attributes and relationships) is not a product specific topic and you might be best off looking at generic sites. William Kent wrote a simple introduction to the five Normal Forms. Then check out DataModel.org. Alf Pedersen has some good papers on an assortment of database design issues. If you want a head start on modelling, Barry Willaims has[b]published more sample designs than you could shake a stick at (they are for MSSQL but still quite helpful).

Objectives:
In software development we make extensive use of models to capture details about objects in a domain, the attributes of the objects and the relationships between the objects. Once complete, these models also contain constraints on the objects and their attributes.
The aim of this project will be to develop a GUI to draw an appropriate software model and to automatically generate a set of Java classes consistent with the model that can be used to rapidly implement the software.
This research will aim at analysing the different modelling techniques and the mapping of these models to java codes.

SSAS Tabular Model and browse with MS Excel 2013

I have a tabular model, It has an attribute with datatype and data format as "whole number". When I browse the model from excel and add label filter, it
does not work as expected.
When I specify greater than 180 as label filter, It gives following output:
My guess is that it is just filtering on first two digits "18" and not "180". When I copy these values in a excel sheet and create pivot table on top of it, hell it works fine.
Is this a microsoft bug? have you encountered something like this or I am doing some thing wrong?
I am using tabular model 2012 and excel 2013 or 2010.

I have tested it on the local environment, we cannot reproduce this issue. As per my understanding, this issue is related to the settings of your tabular model. Does this issue can be reproduce in multiple servers in your environment? In that is

Object Types Attributes (Data Modeler 3.0 EA1.)

Hi,
Will the attribute object type support in data modeler be upgraded to the same functionality as column relational table support in 3.0? For relational columns I can attach a domain to a column, I can't attach a domain to an attribute in an object type. Also for a column I can define a 'Units', that is VARCHAR2 (30 BYTE) orVARCHAR2 (30 CHAR). If can't do this with the (Data Modeler 3.0 EA1.) for an object type's attribute. Will this be included?

Thanks to you and your team for extending this to the object type (structured type) portion of SDDM 3.3 EA1 and 3.3 EA2. The object type portion of SDDM is pretty robust now for modeling and actually generating useable structures in the database (Oracle) now. With 3.3 EA2 at this point it will be much easier to take advantage of the object type features in the database and our applications. I have been waiting since Oracle version 8 for the tools team to provide a modeling tool that mirrors the functionality the server team has provided when it comes object types.

How make visible the attributes of models in Publisher

Hello!
If anyone know how I can I make visible the attributes of models in Publisher? The problems is that there are no possibilities to visualize standard and free model attributes in Publisher. Of course I created a required filter in “administration module” ( “ configuration ” -> “conventions” -> “Filters”) before import to Publisher in BPA, but it was lack. :(

Difference Between Appraisal Model and Appraisal Doc

Hi Experts,
Please do let me know the difference between Appraisal Model and Appraisal Documents (Appraisal Template).
I mean in terms of functionality.
when are where to use them.
Through Appraisal model i m unable to create Appraisals for n number of employees in one shot. i.e, appraisals to be created for each individual of a department in one go.
i know this transaction PHAP_PREPARE_PA which will create mass Appraisal Doc's but i want to create Appraisal which can be stored in Infotype 0025.
Plz suggest.

the basic difference you are looking at is the old appraisal model
and the new MBO
the old appraisal model very much supports infotype 25 and you can view the data in there,
but once you activate the MBO you cannot have the old module active practically.
In the PHAP_prepare_pa transaction can be used for mass dipatch of appraisal documents,
select the second option for the same in the list .
The second option will allow you to select org unit which will allow to assign to all employees in the selected org. Unit.

Can we maintain attributes, data source and attribute list in web UI level. We can do it in SAP GUI level but do we have the option of doing it on web UI level??

data sources and Attribute lists need to be maintained in GUI but these can further be used for Segmentation in Web UI using the Graphical Modeler.
hey main thing is that when we design all the things our out put is reflected in both interface & most important thing is that 90% of our customization done in gui.only web_ui related customization done in web_ui.

As far as I know,data sources and Attribute lists need to be maintained in GUI but these can further be used for Segmentation in Web UI using the Graphical Modeler.

I have developped an application that retriving the data from back end for that we need to give input values .
I have got the Logged user from the Iuser But Sales Organization of User [from user profile] and Brand value [from user profile] I want these input put values need to pass as a input .
For this how can get the sales org and Brand value.
Give me suggestions for this or how to pass attributes to UME and how to capture it.

Check if there are any available function modules for this functionality. One of the FM that comes to my mind is:
a) BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL
Check with your SD guys , if there exists any such function module.

BI 7.0- Filled Cube- Change Attribute as NAVIGATIONAL and for BEX

We are on BI 7.0.
I have the following task:
Making an Attribute NAVIGATIONAL and making it available in the BEX for a Filled LIVE Cube.
Questions:
1. Is it done through Remodelling or is it just change the attribute to NAV and add the Attribute under NAV attribute while creating Cube? As said above this is a live cube with data in it.
2. Does it need any other adjustments or steps after this point.

1. Change the Attribute from DIS to NAV in InfoObject maintenance.
2. I know there is the second step to add NAV attribute in Cube. I am doubtful, can someone confirm. Under the InfoCube-> Change, add the attribute under NAV Attributes.

no need of remodeling, do it normally

activate yr Infoobject (its not gonna impact yr data modelling at all because NAV or Display setting is set for BEx)

actually u could make attribute NAV in cube only when if its set so at infoobject level otherwise NAV checkbox wont be appeared in edit mode in infocube

In jwsdp-1.1. I can't found classes from packages org.w3c.dom.html and org.w3c.dom.ls.
What jar files and where I have to download?

org.w3c.dom.DOMErrorHandler is a DOM Level 3 class.
The Xerces2 Java Parser 2.4.0 contains an implementation of the Document Object Model Level 3.
Get Xerces-J-src.2.4.0.zip from http://xml.apache.org/dist/xerces-j/
DOMErrorHandler is in the xerces-2_4_0/src/dom3/org/w3c/dom/ drectory.
Xerces-J-src.2.4.0.zip also has the org.w3c.dom.html and org.w3c.dom.ls packages.

How do I read the camera model and manufacturer from IMAQ in LabVIEW?

I have a machine vision application for automated test. I am required to save the image for each test for quality purposes. Since LabVIEW interfaces the CameraLink camera thru the IMAQ driver, various cameras can be used without changing the LabVIEW application. I need to store the basic configuration information, including camera model and manufacturer, with the image. I am able to read some parameters from IMAQ (like bit allocation and shutter speed) using the Read Attribute VI, but unable to read model and manufacturer.
Does anyone know how to read camera make/model from IMAQ in LabVIEW?

With this VI, any camera attribute that you can see and set in MAX, you should be able to see and set in LabVIEW. These are attributes that are defined in you camera file. Since Model/Make is not an "attribute" that you necessarily set, it is not included in your attributes tab in MAX.
If your camera file included a model attribute, then it would show up in MAX under attributes and you would be able to read it using the above-mentioned VI. The only thing I can suggest is perhaps use some File I/O instead of IMAQ VI's and read your camera file, if the ones you have are consistent in structure.

Master Data Explorer disables Model and Entities after every action in Excel

I'm working with MSSQL 2014 and Excel 2013 with the Master Data Services Add-on (MSQL and Excel are both trial versions.)
When I connect to the model then I perform any action on an entity in that model, the Model and the list of Entities in the Master Data Explorer panel become disabled and I have to close the pane, reconnect to the MDS server and select the model again.
My MDS security settings are fine because I can edit the entities I want from Excel, it's just the disabling that is a pain.
Is this the behaviour of the trial version? I haven't found anything that says it is.
Any advise appreciated.

After turning up the logs on the MDS client and the MDS server, and putting Fiddler in between, I saw the client ask the server: Is DQSInstalled? The server politely responded: <IsInstalled>false</IsInstalled>. What criteria
does the MDS server use to determine that DQS is installed?
