Origin Group for PO

Hello,
can i assign a origin group for a PO without material number? I will use this origin group in my costing sheet for defining a separate base row for POs.

Origin Groups for Cost Centres?

Hi
I am using Origin Groups to post the credit of the overheads to a different Cost Centre depending on the raw material.
We need to do a similar thing with our activity costs (labour). The requirement is depending on the cost centre that posted the original labour activity cost credit a different cost centre with the overhead calculation.
The documentation says Origin Groups are for materials. Is there someting similar for cost centres to use when calculating overheads?

I think you can achieve it... Give it a shot as below..
IMG: Cost Center Accounting > Actual Postings > Period-End Closing > Overhead > Costing Sheet: Components > Define Calculation Bases Referring to Cost Center and Activity Type
In this step, define your calculation basis as a combination of cost center and activity type, say Z01 as a combination of cost center 1000 and activity A1 and Z02 as a combination of cost center 2000 and activity A1
Now set up your costing sheet with 2 calculation bases as Z01 in Row 10 and Z02 in Row 20
In IMG Step "Define Quantity-Based Overhead Rates", define Y01 and Y02
In IMG Step "Define Credits", define X01 and X02
In row 30 of costing sheet, mention Y01 (dependant on row 10) and Credit X01 (Credit X01 posts to Cost Center 1000)
In row 40 of costing sheet, mention Y02 (dependant on row 20) and Credit X02 (Credit X02 posts to Cost Center 2000)

Origin Group as Value field in COPA - Is that Possible

Origin group cant be a Value Field.. It can be a Characteristic...
Try with these 2 options
1. KEA5 - Click on Create/Change a new Char and Try to create it with reference from table MBEW... If this is allowed, you will be able to plug in the Field Origin group in yur COPA data structure... regenerate your op concern after this
2. If (1) is not allowed, then create a WW char and write a derivation rule in KEDR with ref to Table LOOKUP and use table MBEW

Seperate C, I, F using origin group

Hi experts,
My customer is trading company: purchase goods then sell to the market - no production at all.
Goods need to be valued at actual price - we apply material ledger
Inventory value have to separate into C, I, F (cost, insurance, freight), even if after transfer posting from plant to plant, or when being sold - be cost of good sold - they still have to separate into C, I, F
So, we tend to using a way like:
- create 3 origin group to represent C, I, F
- assign origin group to condition type
- assign condition type to cost component (3 cost component represent C, I, F)
To do that, i create costing variant, then assign costing variant to cost component structure. (I do not need to using costing variant, or material cost estimate here, just try to meet the requirement above)
Is my config. above sufficient or in excess?
Do I need to active actual cost component split?
If I do not assign cost element to cost component, Can I meet the requirement?
Any help would be highly appreciate!

One thing I would like to add here...
The config you did would provide you the breakup you need... But inventory value or COGS value in the GL accounts wont be hit accordingly
1. if you want inventory value broken up accordingly - You will have to develop a report using ABAP or BW... Multiply your inventory with the Std cost and give the desired break up....
You can draw this report either based on Std Cost or based on period end revised cost based on actual prices (CKMLCP run)
2. Now coming to COGS - The break up of C,I,F can come in COPA but not in GL accounts...
When you post billing, it would post std cost break up to COPA.. After CKMLCP at period end, you need to revaluate COGS in COPA using KE27 which would adjust the variances also in COPA...
To summarize, the GL accounts wont contain the break up of CIF...
You will have to develop report for (1) and (2) is possible through Standard SAP, but only in COPA and not in GL accounts

How to update routing labour hours by material origin group?

Hi,
I have a requirement to update the routing labour hours by material origin groups to save time of updating each and every material. Is there a way to do this?
For example if 3 materials belong to origin group A then if all 3 materials use labour hours of 5 hours, then the user has to enter only the origin group and 5 hours once to update all 3 material routings. Is this possible?

No provisioning of User Group for authorization field in user master

We are implementing CUP 5.3 workflows. Both in manual proviosing and automated provisioning based on User Defaults the user group gets only provisioned to the Groups tab in SU01. The field User Group for authorization on the Logon data tab remains empty (field CLASS from system table USLOGOND, filling CLASS field in table USR02).
In User defaults both under user default as on the user group tab the user groups have been defined. In manual provisioning the correct list of user groups get displayed for selection.
Under field mapping in the Application field I only find User Group in user master maintenance, but not User group for authorization. However I would assume I do not need to use field mapping, as I want to automate this provisioning based on user defaults.
Am I missing a configuration setting here? If so, where can I set it?
I would assume the provisioning of this field is possible. RAR reports the user group also based on the User group for auhtorization and not from the Groups tab.

I can assure you that what I said in my last response does provision the User Group For Authorization Check on the Logon Data tab; in fact, I was having the opposite issue where the Group tab was not being provisioned; however, I am ruunning AE 5.2 and you said you are running 5.3; maybe something did change or got lost in the releases; it probably is good to see what SAP has to say about this; I would hate to lose this capapbility when I upgrade to AE 5.3
As far as using the custom field for multiple applications, would that field not be usable for any of the applications you would select in the request form?; if you are using the same table names in the different SAP systems (selectable by the application field on the request) would the drop down selections be whatever the table has defined for that system? I may not be understanding something here so I am just asking;
It would be great to have a Group field automatically filled in by another selection to avoid the user involvement; I agree with you there; because of our concerns on users entering the AE request, our shop has decided to continue with the users submitting the request through normal email and the security administrators perform the AE entering; this way we have a better idea on something like the GROUP field; we have an option to include the original email as an attachment for justification of the request

In customizing we have possibility to assign purchase document condition types to origin groups, but i cannot choose conditions types from shipment document there. Generate table which include field Transportation planning point(or any other which is common) by T_03
Assign this table in access sequence by T_07
Then in condition type detail under tab changes which can be done option MANUAL ENTRIES - set blank (No limitations ) by T_06
Then maintain condition record in TK11 for all conditions
Here don't put any prices for condition just save
Now When you create shipment cost document all condition will come automatically,then user will put only price and save.

What exaclty are origin grps and what are their roles from a controlling perspective.

Hi,
Normally the cost element / s are mapped to cost components using Tcode OKTZ.
This means that a cost element normally refers to only one cost component, if origin group is kept blank.
However, we can use origin group as master data, and based on the origin group assigned in the material , we can assign it to different cost component, even for same cost element. Refer origin group column in Tcode OKTZ.

Cannot find _www user/group to make owner/group for iCal share

I know _www is a predefined system group normally hidden. However, I am trying to follow a procedure posted at www.adozendozen.com/?p=43 which requires that I make _www the owner/group for the folder share I will be using for calendars.
_www does not appear in the Users and Groups pane available in Server Admin so how does one do this?
(If you want to have a long day, trying searching _www on any search site or any site for that matter.)

Brett Gross who made the original post for the iCal setup was kind enough to inform me that there is a setting in Server Admin under Preferences for "Show system accounts in users and groups browser.
Thanks for responding but I am more comfortable with GUI where possible.

Origin Groups assigned to profit centres

How do you map an origin group to a profit centre and is there any other issues I should be aware of?

Material is having profit center and for material you have origin group. I don't think you have any other issues with this.

I have a group and it works, but unable to locate the group for edits.

The addresses that I originally set up in the group are saved in the group since by entering the group name in the address field all the addresses are entered into the mail. Problem is that I cannot find the group for editing purposes. I thought the way was to go to contacts on the left and find the group there....no such group listed.

Since there is no such thing as Groups in Thunderbird I will assume you are looking for a Mailing List that you created in one of your Address Books.
When you open the Address Book window do you have the Directory Pane showing?
If not turn it on by going to the menu bar and selecting View-Layout-Directory Pane
Any address book that has a Mailing List in it will either be showing the list as a sub-folder or have a small pointer beside the address book folder. If the sub-folder tree is not showing click the pointer to expand the view.
Then again since you are using terms like Contacts and Groups are you even talking about Thunderbird email client?

How to change Function Group for a function already exists - Urgent

Now i need to transport that field exit into quality. so i saved field exit into one package and i created one more func grp with new naming convention. now my problem is field exit is not allowing to change the func grp name there. it is in non-editable mode. what should i do, to change that. As I understand, you want to change a SAP function module into a Z function group, that's not allowed.
Even if you have to change any function from one function group to another, you have to copy it (taking care of global code in the TOP include for the function group), delete it from the original group and create it into the new.
Function groups are a kind of container programs and each Function module is a component of them, not the other way.

It all depends if the data source was originally co-located on the same replica shared with other data sources. If not then DPM will simple re-use the same replica and pick up where it left off. If it was co-located, then the old replica and RP
volume is shared and the RP's will expire as new ones are made on the new replica and RP volume created when it's re-protected.

Data folder can not be opened in finding " AirPort Time Capsule " The operation can not be completed because the original item for " data" does not exist .

I have a " AirPort Time Capsule " (firmware 7.7.3) When I try to open the data folder in "finder". Then I got the message " The operation can not be completed because the original item for " data" does not exist". I have a lot of data and I can understand why I get this message?

Get a USB drive of 2TB or more.. assuming your TC is 2TB. Either preformatted Mac or plug into your Mac and format it standard Mac OS Extended Journaled in disk utility.
Do a full archive of the TC. You do this using airport utility. Do not click the erase disk.. I marked in green.. just the archive.. that is to backup the internal disk to the USB disk. It is not fast.. take it that the process will go at around 40-50GB/hr.
Once you complete the archive .. it is a direct image of the data on your TC.. you can then plug it into your computer directly.. and then try and open the files you lost.. if you cannot open them.. open disk utility and fix the permissions.

It is possible to fix things on the USB drive because it is locally mounted.. but you cannot fix it on TC which is network drive.

Get all Groups for current user

Hi I try to get all groups for the current logged on user. This is what I do:
First I try to search with the IGruopSearchFilter to obtain all unique Group IDs. I always get an proxy error by doing this, maybe the query is to much.
Then I want to use the method group.isUserMember(user.getUniqueID() to check whether the user is a member of that group or not.
Is there a better way to obtain all groups for a user (without using a query IGroupSearchFilter)?
