OS X partition corrupted after bootcamp use
Starting with OS 10.10 and Windows 8.1, whenever I use Windows 8.1 for a variable amount of time, the OS X partition becomes corrupted. Sometimes it is okay, but more often then not, when I leave bootcamp and boot back to OS X, the OS X partition won't boot. Using Disk Utility (via Cmd-R) shows that the OS X partition is damaged and cannot be repaired. I then have to format the partition and restore from a Time Machine backup.
The system is a MacBook Pro 10,1 (Retina Mid 2012). There are no bizarre NTFS utilities installed, only a stock Windows 8.1 OS and OS X 10.10.2. There are a handful of apps installed under Windows - AutoCAD, etc., but again, no file
Any suggestions?
Per LonerT, I am posting the output from diskutil.

Partition corrupted after Bootcamp Installation aborted
Hello, I started a Bootcamp installation on my OSX Lion Mac Pro. Once I realized that I could only use Windows 7, I had to hold off on the installation until I located my Windows 7 disk. I had set the Bootcamp partition size to 100 GB on a 500 GB Drive. Due to threatning weather, I shutdown the computer.
Now the OSX Lion does not boot! I have been reading much information on this topic to see about fixing the problem. I talked to Apple Support and so far it is still not working. I was able to boot using the recovery partition "Disk Utility -> First Aid -> Repair Disk". When I ran Repair Disk there were some errors reported and repaired, then OSX still not booting. I installed Lion on another drive using recovery and that works OK. I was hoping to install Lion on the original drive and still not disturb my data files like music, photos, etc. The volume with my data is greyed out and does not mount. I think the partition is corrupted.
Can someone please help me to repair this issue?
Thanks,

Recovery Partition Destroyed After Bootcamping
Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me with this conundrum. I installed win. 7 on my macbook air running OS X Mavericks through bootcamp and it worked great. However, I noticed that anytime I tried to start the recovery partition, it would instead use internet recovery. Why is this?
What are you doing, exactly, when trying to boot from the Recovery HD?
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the arrow button below the icon. -

DOM corrupted after innerHTML (using input id='id' -)
I'm on a success function (in javascript) after an ajax call.
1 myFunctionOnSucces(transport){<br />
2 var sDoc = transport.responseText;<br />
3 var oDummy = document.createElement('div');<br />
4 oDummy.innerHTML = sDoc;<br />
5 var here = 'breakpoint';<br />
6 }
Debugging on line 5 I have this on javascript: sDoc: "<form name='form_edit' method='post' action='my-web'> <input type='hidden' name='id' value=''> </form> " oDummy: type div.
When looking on his FirstChild property I have: form#[object HTMLInputElement] my-web
If I remove the hidden input on the response text from server, the object FirstChild of oDummy is: form my-web
So in case I have some input with id='id' then the DOM elements added by oDummy corrupt the form element (it puts [object HTMLInputElement] as the form id atribute).
Is there any restriction on the id's attribute value I can use?
It happens on firefox 26 (not in 17). It happens both, linux and windows client.
Thanks a lot.
JordiOh, I thought id="id" was just a placeholder for the actual string...
A few versions ago, there was a major change under the covers in how element properties are handled. This could explain why using a global attribute name like id as a value for some other attribute has become a problem in your application. -
'Recovery' partition disappeared after BootCamp installation
Since i've installed Windows on BootCamp, Lion's 'Recovery' partition containing a recovery system just disappeared.
Is there a way of getting it back? It isn't really important, but i was just wondering if it could be reinstalled.
Thank you!

Photos corrupted after importing using iPhoto
I recently imported 50 images from my iPhone 5 using iPhoto 9.4.3. After imported and selected "Remove imported photos", all my remaining photos & videos became unrecognized format (see image below). They look like that in iPhoto too. When I tried to import them, it says "Unrecognizable Files". I viewed my phone in iTunes and see that both Photos and Videos still take up half the storage. It says 17 photos 10.3 GB when rollovers. Strange..
PLEASE HELP! I do not have any back up on iCloud and iTunesShould update to iPhoto 9.5.1 on your Mac

Partition Corruption after Update Install
The last two times I've attempted to run an Apple software upgrade installation I've ended up with my Hard disk partition getting hosed and having to repartition (and OS reinstall). Has anyone else have this problem?
BTY: In both cases the software upgrade failed to run successfully, the last time it failed in the OS 10.4.9 upgrade. Thanks Hal.
I thought I could delete, but wasn't confident.
I have deleted them and no problems :-) -
OS X partition becomes corrupt after switching from Bootcamp
So I've had to reinstall os x 10.9.1 no less than three times this week and multiple times before in the past after switching between os x and windows 8.1. This usually happens after I've been using windows for a prolonged period then switch back to os x but it happened today after reinstalling os x from a time machine backup just yesterday. I'll switch between the two and os x becomes corrupt and begins the loading bar sequence after selecting the os x partition via the refit boot manager. I tried repairing the partition using disk utility from the repair partition and an external installation of os x 10.9.1 but every time the disk becomes corrupt and needs to be wiped and reinstalled or install a time machine backup. I've lost count of how many times I've had to do this and to make things even worse both of my external disks have become corrupt after being disconnected for two days while I sort this mess out. Does anyone else have similar issues or can locate an issue somewhere?
Yeah I reinstalled osx 10.9.1 and installed all my apps, put everything back then used bootcamp to create a partition for windows then used wineclone to install my windows 8.1 backup. I jumped from windows > osx > windows > osx inside an hour to move around a few things and I forgot verify bootcamp after I installed the backup and that last time I booted to osx it was corrupted. I used disk utility from my external installation and the recovery partition and both times they need repaired which only came up with the backup and wipe notification window. There have been two occasions where I was able to fix the osx partition from my external osx installation and continue using osx quite perfectly but usually the partition becomes un-mountable after it fails to repair. Usually when this has happened the twenty something times before it's after a prolonged period of a few weeks using windows.
I'm using refit boot manager and paragon NTFS 11 which may be the only software I've installed that could be corrupting the boot.

Can't restore to 1 partition after bootcamp
Ok so I ran into a weird problem, and after searching for a while I can't seem to find a solution.
Can't find anyone else who has had the same problem either.
I'm currently running a 2012 RMBP. I had bootcamp installed running Windows 7.
Today I wanted to remove the Bootcamp partition to free up some space on my HD.
So I went to Bootcamp Utility and selected the option to restore Mac to 1 partition and remove bootcamp
After a while it gives me an error message, something like "cannot remove bootcamp partition or restore mac to single partition"
Ok...
But not the bootcamp partition is gone from the bootcamp utility. It's also gone from Disk utility and the Finder.
But the space that the partition was occupying (about 20+ gigs) did not change.
So it's like it's still there but I cannot erase it or get that space back for some reason.
I've tried everything. I tried rebooting using CMD+R and going to disk utilities from there also. But the bootcamp partition
doesn't show up at all. But the space it was taking is still there.
Also in Disk Utility I cannot "erase free space", it's greyed out. I can't do anything. It's like the bootcamp partition is gone, but
the space is still being taken up. So it was never really removed.
I don't know what else to do. Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else?I encountered the same, or very similar problem with my 2012 15" rMBP. Upon trying to uninstall Windows 7 and its associated 60GB Partition via Boot Camp Assistant (BCA), some sort of error (dialog disappeared too quickly to recall specifics) apparently prevented completetion. During my second attempt, the process appeared to stall at about 25-30% completion. After the "progress bar" hadn't moved for 10 minutes, I quit BCA.
My third attempt ended at the second BCA screen, as the initial three options (for installing Windows) were again available. I thought perhaps I had actually erased the Windows Partition, but Disk Utility still displayed an unnamed 60GB Partition. Unfortunately, resizing my boot volume to 768GB triggered a file system verification error, as did Mende1's thoughtful solution.
Finally, after highlighting my SSD (not my boot volume Partition) and selecting "Verify Disk", the "Repair disk in Recovery Mode" error suspended Verification. After rebooting in Recovery Mode (command + R after chime), repairing the drive in Disk Utility did just that, and I was able to simply resize my boot volume Partition, removing the empty partition. I guess BCA had uninstalled Windows 7, but failed to remove the partition.
Sorry for the longwinded post, but since the OP's solution didn't work for me, I thought I would share the process that worked for me.

Bootcamp partition lost after moving to larger HDD (Mavericks and Win7 X64)
Hi Folks!
I read those topics concerning lost and broken bootcamp partitions and I am Wondering if someone may help me.
What was my aim: Due to lacking space of my 320 GB HDD I moved to a 750 GB HDD.
I did this by installing Mavericks from a USB disk and rebuilt it with TM. After the installation I had a fully working Mavericks partition and the MacOS recovery partition.
Next step was to rebuild the Bootcamp partition. For that I installed a new copy of windows via bootcamp assistant. After booting up the first time I booted the mini partition wizard cd, deleted the bootcamp partition and rebuild the partition from the old HDD changing the size fitting to the available space. After rebooting I chose to boot from the Win7 DVD and chose the repair option to fix windows. Everything worked well, I could boot into Win7 and it showed me both partitions (Mavericks and bootcamp).
BUT
when i boot into MacOS it is not able to mount the mavericks partition.
After checking it with fdisk and disk I found out that the bootcamp partition was recognized as FAT32 by the disk utility program, which always told me that it was not able to repair the bootcamp partition.
So I followed Christopher Murphy's instructions to change the type for FAT 32 (0C) to ntfs (07) with the effect that I can't boot windows anymore due to "operating system not found" error.
So this is what the refit partition inspector tells me about my HDD:

And this is the error when I try to check it:
Next step is to try to cover the windows copy. I guess startup repair will work, unfortunatly I have no DVD at the moment right here.
But my problem is not the restoring of windows but to mount the bootcamp partition in Mavericks again.
Any help?
Thanks in advance
PhilOk, it works again. But actually I don't know why. After neither startup repair nor mini partition manager could repair the ntfs partition, i deleted it and rebuilt it from the old HDD (fortunately not deleted yet). The only thing I did in difference was to boot into Mavericks before starting startup repair after i copied the partition. For any reason Mavericks recognized it this time. I have no clue why but everything is working.

How to have two partitions in windows 7 using bootcamp?
Hello everybody,
I've just recently bought a new MacBook Pro, I'm not very familirar with Macintosh. I installed windows 7 using bootcamp but the problem is that I just can see one partition in which I've installed windows.
actually, I want to partition my 500GB disk to three different partitions as following:
1) 70GB for Mac
2) 80GB for Windows
3) 350GB for Data
so that I can have third partition both in Mac and Win.
I searched internet and I found a few documents about it and I followed the instructions but I had no luck of success. one of the instructions I tried is: http://davidseah.com/index-ee.php/wikilab/Creating-2-Windows-Partitions-with-Boo t-Camp/
Any suggestion would be appreciated.1: Those instructions at the link are severely outdated. Don't use them.
2: Apple expects users to have one Bootcamp partition, one OS X Lion partition and that's it and that's all they are going to hold your hand on.
(note: there is also a hidden EFI and a Lion Recovery Partition also on the drive.)
Anything beyond that is getting into major geek terror-tory.
Of course it's possible, I had my 15" with 7 partitions and booting 4 other operating systems from Lion, Snow, Windows, Linux (with a Linux Swap and a exFAT data). But I had to wipe the entire drive, set up the partitions install a alternate EFI boot program (a program that resides in firrmware) and then install each OS in each partition.
Since your new to Mac, you should really hold onto Apple's hand and use either a external drive formatted either FAT32(MSDOS) for under 4 GB files sizes (preferred) or exFAT for over 4GB files (not preferred but necessary) in Apple's Disk Utility.
Windows is as you know, formatted NTFS and OS X is formatted HFS+ Journaled as their partition data formats.
There is software for Windows called MacDrive which will read and write HFS format, and there is software from Tuxera that will allow OS X to read NTFS format.
There is a security issue allowing Windows to read HFS, but that should do transferring the small amount of files your going to be using in both operating systems.
OS X, like Windows, is going to expect files to be in each respective User folders of Music, Pictures and so forth when you open save dialog boxes, open finder windows, open certain programs and so forth. So ideally it's not best to share a partition or really have the user data on another partition at all.
I know it's a practice on Windows machines to partition data away from boot/programs to reduce defragmentation, on OS X it's not as necessary (except in special cases) as all 2GB sized files and below are written to one space on the drive (if there is room of course)
Windows 7 still needs to be defragged, however it can be schedualed and you can watch the progress. If you install WIndows, perform all the updates, then install programs, then finally any files you do keep there, it should stay optimized for a quite awhile. Ditton on the OS X side.
If your going to sharing a grreat quantity of files between the two OS's, use a external drive.
Apple installs a hybrid MBR in the Bootcamp partition for Windows to use to interact with the GUID partition table (GPT) it uses. -
I am struggling to Partition my MacBook Pro using Bootcamp 5, can someone help, please. I previously had successfully loaded Windows 7 running Bootcamp 4 on the same machine. When I upgraded to Windows 8 I started encountering problems. My trackpad would not work and it required me to load Bootcamp 5" as I was running 32 bit this is not supported by Bootcamp 5 I had to completely delete the previous partition, but now I can't repartition as it goes halfway and says an error has been encountered and Bootcamp cannot partition this drive.
I do not know how to defragment the drive in Apple as I can in windows nor can I clean it up to maybe get everything in neat clusters, maybe somebody can help me solve this problem.Sorry Bobthefisherman, this was not helpful. I had already gone through these pages before coming to you. What I have discovered however is that when Bootcamp Assistant deleted the partition, it did not create a single volume but created three partitions instead which maybe the reason why it cannot create the new part ion parameters I am asking it crate. So I took it to the geniuses at Apple who suggested that I reformat the drive and reload everything again! and this might solve the problem. We'll all know whether this is helpful once it finishes the formatting of the hard drive. This process is taking a very long time to complete so I am leaving it overnight for it to complete. I will keep you updated on progress. I am also told that Apple is struggling with Windows 8 drivers and I may not be able to use that, so I am going back to Windows 7 even though I was beginning to like windows 8 very much.

The disk space disappears after bootcamp failed in deleting the windows partition.
Hardware: Macbook Pro 700
OS: Lion v10.7
1. I installed Windows 7 in my mac. The space of Windows partition is 80G.
2. Some dlls of Windows will always disappear and at last the Windows cannot be started successfully.
3. Yesterday I updated Lion and started the bootcamp to remove the Windows partition. But bootcamp throwed an error(I forget what the error is).
4. I started bootcamp again to try to remove the Windows partition, but there is only create Windows partition in the options.
5. I started the Disk Utilities and verified the disk. The reported result was that there were some errors in disk.
6. So I restarted the machine and pressed COMMAND+R and entered the Disk Utilities to repair the disk.
7. After repairing the disk, there are no errors in disk now. But 80G space disappears.
Now my whole disk is still 320G, but the mac partition is 238G.
How can I repair it? Please help me.
