OSB 10.3: Enabling JConsole

Hi,
I am trying to enable JConsole on OSB (Weblogic AdminServer/JDK 1.6.0_05). Used the following parameters to enable JMX:
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=8889
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.local.only=false
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false
Did not work - 'The connection did not succeed'. BTW, it works fine for other Weblogic instances, e.g., SOA Suite 11g' SOA_Server1, but not for OSB. Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks a lot!!!
-Mark

If you want to do this for marking a non responseive uri offline by the operational support , you can let osb automate this for you.

  • File read in Mediator / OSB

    I have a requirement where a BPEL process calls an ESB (could be implemented using either mediator or OSB). The ESB should then pick a set of files from a directory in the local file system and FTP them to several locations.
    From the file adapters available in (both the) ESBs, we HAVE to configure the polling interval. So, the file adapter is actually a one-time configuration which runs until the server ends. That is not the requirement. Is there a way to make a synchronous call from BPEL to the ESB file adapter, and then the file adapter picks those files and FTPs to the said locations and returns control to the ESB and hence the BPEL?

    I'm not a expert in ESB so cannot comment on that product.
    OSB in itself cannot accomplish this use case "OSB should pick a set of files from a directory in the local file system and FTP them to several locations only on trigger/request (different from polling)".
    We had similar discussion earlier Re: Using SFTP proxy service without polling interval, how to do it?
    I'm not sure about your architecture criteria that mandates this separation of logic implementation in BPEL and OSB.
    At best, solution with OSB is like
    1) BPEL--->(OSB)Proxy Service1---> Enable FTP Proxy and wait for pre-configured time(Java Callout in Proxy Service1) ---->Read the files and ftp to various locations in FTP proxy---->Disable SFTP Proxy(Java Callout in Proxy Service1)--->Return response to BPEL.
    2) BPEL puts file in directory--->OSB picks and posts to FTP (polling is involved)

  • Force MTOM/XOP response on OSB

    hello,
    How can I force a MOTOM Response although it is not neccessary because I have no binary data in the response.
    The reason is follow. I have a foreign test client that sends the request with MTOM enabled and expected that the response is also using MTOM (I think this is a little bit stupid). The client is using AXIS.
    In the request the client sends binary data using MTOM but in my response no binary data is available and so OSB won't enable the Mtom Feature for the response. The result is that the client don't accept my response...
    Is there a workaround to force that MTOM is being enabled?

    Sorry for the delay response. This is a known issue that MTOM is enabled only the binary data is at the top level in WLS 10.1.
    But it has already support complex type MTOM encoded in WLS 10.3. Please download at [url http://commerce.bea.com/products/weblogicplatform/weblogic_prod_fam.jsp]here

  • Legacy Integration - BPM suite or SOA suite?

    We have an existing legacy transaction engine, all dedicated CICS, including security (ransactions, exits, etc.). Looking to externalize and consolidate some of the business logic away from it. Databases are Oracle and DB2 on the host. Not more then five instances total.
    Definitely using WebLogic, not WAS, not JBoss. Hiring and training support team starting next month. Number of processes to be consolidated/transitioned is less then 40 total. Would you recommend BPM Suite or SOA suite with BPEL PM? Any benefits of one vs the other? We do have some BPM (AL) studio experience.
    Thanks in advance.

    Someone from Oracle should step in on this thread when they get a chance to provide greater depth on the BPEL side and the strategic direction on both Oracle BPM and BPEL.
    If you have Oracle Suite, you get Oracle Service Bus (OSB) which provides a platform that both BPEL and Oracle BPM can consume from. If you purchase Oracle BPM Suite, you get licenses for both Oracle BPM and BPEL and Oracle BPM processes can consume BPEL processes and vice versa. If you look at Oracle's plans for Oracle BPM 11g coming out sometime in the next 10 months, it appears to be a coexistance strategy leveraging the strengths of both Oracle BPM and BPEL.
    My initial reaction was to say that it's not an "either/or" scenario, but the realities of training budgets and skill sets pretty much dictate that you need to focus on one or the other.
    I've been doing Oracle BPM work for several years so recognize that although I am not biased, it might appear so in this thread. If you hit the BPEL forum, you'll get feedback from enthusiastic proponents of BPEL. Although I'd like to be, I'm not an expert on BPEL, but here's my take on your question.
    Modeling
    Oracle BPM was built with one process modeling diagram. It is simple, BPMN based and quick to learn. It supports the roles and the activities I need to build robust processes. As I hinted at in an earlier thread, I use the same diagram to explain the process to executives, managers, IT, SME and business analysts. As a business analyst, the tool is not complicated and can be learned in just a couple hours. As a developer, I use the same modeling diagram, but the tool profile I use is a robust IDE that lets me create the implementation details (objects, logic, integration to services and local testing). If I make a change as a developer, the business analyst can see the change if they look at the same process artifact (typically shared through a source control repository).
    BPEL models are very useful for IT. Most times IT does not care or need to know about the roles / swimlanes and the BPEL tool does a nice job of not providing these extra artifacts. When the model has to be shown to non-technical executives, managers, SMEs and business analysts, it is typically shown in BPA. There is a round tripping interface between BPA and BPEL that the folks at Oracle can show you. Others may disagree, but I think there is a bit of a learning curve with BPA for business analysts. It has many different types of diagrams that let you see the different levels of decomposition and abstraction.
    Logic
    As a developer using Oracle BPM, I use templates and drag and drop to create much of my logic. Once I catalog an object it can be reused across multiple projects either by using the Project Dependency option or by importing the artifacts. I test my logic either by using the method editor debugger or at the process level.
    As I create objects used in my logic using Oracle BPM, I can easily inherit attributes provided by introspected components. This means that if you have an ERP system with 138 attributes, you do not have to rebuild this object from scratch in Oracle BPM.
    Probably one of BPEL's strengths is that there is not much coding inside the tool. Instead the logic mostly resides in the invoked components.
    UI
    End user interface screens and complex end user interaction with a variety of screens can be built inside the Oracle BPM toolset's WYSIWYG editor. The forms use the attributes of the objects described in the previous paragraph. There's a common misconception that you cannot have both client side and server side components invoked from the UI. This is simply not the case. You can use both client side and server side components to do cross field validation or provide lists for valid values.
    If you're a JSP shop, you have the flexibility to instead create your forms using the Oracle BPM tag library instead of the forms editor provided.
    The forms you build are automatically presented in the OOTB Workspace.
    I believe BPEL uses ADF as the forms builder interface. Others on this forum or folks on the BPEL forum are far more knowledgeable on ADF than I am and can give you the comparison between UI builders.
    Runtime
    Oracle BPM can be installed on WebLogic. There is a common misunderstanding that Oracle BPM cannot be clustered. This is also not the case. The engine was first ported to WebLogic about 4 years ago and clustering is supported.
    Integration
    As I mentioned in the earlier thread, both tools can provide the integration you're looking for. Both Oracle BPM and BPEL can use OSB as the intermediary layer. Oracle BPM can expose and consume component directly if you do not have OSB.
    Finally, Oracle BPM was built and architected as one complete solution with modeling, development, runtime, end user worklist and BAM capabilities built into it from the beginning 10 years ago. This integration makes the process modeling tool simple for both IT and business analysts to easily communicate using the same modeling syntax. Similarly, integration across the different parts of the product makes it easy to expose the components directly inside Oracle BPM's catalog (again - since you have SOA Suite, instead use OSB so you enable your SOA architecture). Even the end user interface (the Workspace) that exposes users' inboxes and displays the forms is OOTB and automatcally built for you by the tool.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • OSB 11g - list Proxy services with enabled tracing

    Hello.
    I went through OSB API and haven't found out a way, how to by script (Java or WLST):

  • How to enable chunked streaming mode using OSB config file

    Hi All,
    Is there way through which we can enable and disable the chunked streaming mode option in Business service (of OSB) through OSB configuration file?? If yes, please let me know.
    Thanks,

    Hi Aditya,
    I don't think it can be done dynamically the way you described... But I believe you can create two business services, one with chunked=on and the other with chunked=off and route to one of them dynamically according to your configuration...

  • Re: How to enable NTLM authentication in OSB???

    Hi all,
    We have the same problem trying to integrate OSB with and asmx service that uses NTLM.
    We try an alternative, we have created the artifacts of asmx service using wsimport and we created a little java project using these artifacts. We also added a class with a static method in this project in order to be used by OSB java callout mechanism. When this project if used standalone (through eclipse) works fine and as the environment is windows server, it sends automatically to the client the credentials of user that is logged on windows domain. On the other hand when we deploy this java project in OSB as jar for callout we receive : Response: '401: Unauthorized' exactly at the point that the produced artifact class invokes the constructor of javax.xml.ws.Service in order to create an instance of the service.
    Can it be the same problem stated by 830428?
    The stack trace:

    after that (actually before) is just our code which calls the  @WebServiceClient Class (the local artifacts which are used to call the actual web service).

    Kuppusamy.V.,
    We experiened the same issue as you and managed to find a solution to the problem.
    The OSB does not support NTLM authentication, so you are quite correct in stating you must write a Java class and use a Java callout from an OSB Proxy Service.
    Our Java class worked fine from the Unix commandline, but failed when deployed to the OSB and invoked by the proxy service with the dreaded '401 Unauthorised' error.
    On closer inspection, the proxy service stack trace revealed:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: Response: '401: Unauthorized' for url: 'http://your.domain.here/default.aspx' at weblogic.net.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(HttpURLConnection.java:474)
    We noticed that the exception was being thrown from the WebLogic 'weblogic.net.http.HttpURLConnection' class and not the Sun 'java.net.HttpURLConnection' as we expected (and our Java code explicitly imported)!
    We couldn't understand why a different HTTP handler was being invoked, but it got us thinking. And thinking. And raising an Oracle support ticket. And waiting.
    Tired of waiting, we revisited the problem and chanced across the Javadoc for the 'java.net.URL' class and noticed one of the constructors allows you to specify a HTTP handler!
    Instead of opening our URL with this typical usage:
    URL url = new URL(yourURL);
    HttpURLConnection http = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
    We used:
    URL url = new URL(null, yourURL, new sun.net.www.protocol.http.Handler());
    HttpURLConnection http = (HttpURLConnection) url.openConnection();
    And, hey presto!, it worked a treat.
    And we closed the Oracle service ticket. And stopped waiting :)

    Jerome

  • OSB: Retrieve MIME Data when MTOM is enabled

    Hi,
    I'm aware that when a proxy service MTOM enabled, attachments variable (storing MIME data) is null.

    Can anyone help? Perhaps I should rephrase my question.
    What is the reason for this statement when MTOM is enabled:
    The $attachments message context variable, in contrast, does not contain any information (is null).

    I can only think of one solution: using the debugging/tracing facilities of OSB. You could enable execution tracing for a particular proxy service, or you could enable debugging of pipelines in the alsbdebug.xml file in your domain's home. For this WLS's log should have a severity level of debug. Of course this would mean you'd have a lot more messages in the log files, not just the errors. I would not recommend this for a production environment.
    Why can't you use the Log action that's specially designed for sending messages to WLS's log file?

    Then I decided to use eis/DB/SOADemo for testing.
    For JDeveloper project, after I deployed to weblogic server, it works fine.
    But for OSB project referencing wsdl, jca and mapping file from JDeveloper project, still got the same error as follows:

    You may need to configure the connection settings in the deployment descriptor (i.e. DbAdapter.rar#META-INF/weblogic-ra.xml) and restart the server. This exception is considered not retriable, likely due to a modelling mistake.
    It almost drive me crazy!!:-(
    What's the purpose of 'weblogic-ra.xml' under the folder of 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\home_11gR1\Oracle_OSB1\lib\external\adapters\META-INF'?

  • OSB: Retrieving file from disk and sending it via MTOM

    Hi,
    I'm trying to retrieve binary file from OSB local disk and than send it via MTOM.
    I've created a JCA synchronized reading file adapter. I've unchecked the "native message" option to disable schema translation. The files content seems getting picked up into <wsdl:part name="opaque" element="opaque:opaqueElement" />. I don't like the fact that it is encoded in base64. How to disable base64 decoding?
    I've tried to set the "native message" to some binary element, like <xs:element name="Attachment" type="xs:base64Binary" />. Then I get the "Schema translation failed" exception every time. What my native message should be to pick up a straight forward binary file?
    Can you guide me please how to create a file OSB transport service that would be able to read files?
    Also, if I obtain the file's content, how do I send it from proxy to proxy as a mtom? All of my proxy chains have enabled MTOM and pass binary as reference, but when I look up the messages transmitted, the opaque element seems to contain straigth forward base64 content, not binary reference.
    I would appreciate any help regarding any of this topics.

    Hi Veronica,
    there is absolutely nothing in my $body variableI did a quick test, the reference for the binary content goes to the $body variable...
    Service type = Messaging Service ... Transport = file
    Content of body after picking up a bmp image...
    <soapenv:Body xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <con:binary-content ref="cid:-63889258:138079cb851:-7d8e" xmlns:con="http://www.bea.com/wli/sb/context"/>
    </soapenv:Body>
    Cheers,
    Vlad

  • How to download a file from Oracle UCM using OSB

    Hi,
    How can I download a file from Oracle UCM and save it on a filesystem using OSB 11.1.1.5.
    Thanks

    UCM supplies webservice interfaces which let you retrieve the filecontent by soap calls from UCM (http://ucmhost/_dav/cs/idcplg for example). (maybe you should enable some settings on ucm to have this webservice interface getting published).
    This services for example has 2 operations getFileByID and getFileByName.
    So you can just call these services from within OSB.
    After that you need to do some tests if you eitherway need to create a file-transport business-service and call this one from your proxy service or create a messageType proxyservice (binary)  which calls this file-transport business service to be able to write fo filesystem.
    I think for the OSB book i used a jca file adapter generated in Jdeveloper and used that one to write to filesystem.
