OSB 11 - FTP to AS400 machine

Hi,
Has any one tried to FTP a file (put or get) to/from an AS400 machine? Are there any special tricks/tips to do that either on OSB end or AS400 end?
We are seriously stuck now and lagging in the timelines of the project. Please advice.
Thanks,
Sanjay

Hmm, must confes I didn't do that yet... However did you try to FTP from the OSB server to the AS/400, does that work? And if not what are the errors you are getting?

    Hi Karthik
Looking at the exception stack trace, looks like the root cause is this error: It is not able to find the class "weblogic/descriptor/DescriptorManager"
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/descriptor/DescriptorManager
Well you need to set the .JAR that has this class in the classpath before you run your command or script. NOW you have to generate something called wlfullclient.jar.
If you are using WLS 10.3.x, here is the link on how to generate a client jar file that has almost all the APIs from weblogic.jar and wls-api.jar etc etc. Most of the times, when we want to run WebServices, EJB clients etc as standalone, we need all these classes. So here is the link on how to generate something called "wlfullclient.jar" and put that in classpath or java build path etc.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/client/jarbuilder.html (To create wlfullclient.jar)
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/client/t3.html
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/client/basics.html#wp1069994
NOTE: I already generated this wlfullclient.jar and I do see the above missing class in this .jar file. So hopefully this should solve your issue.
    Thanks

  • Re: OSB - How to put multiple files via a osb ftp business service?

I have been trying to create an ftp business service to transfer files to a remote machine. I select that the service should support any XML document (since I am only sending XML). Then, I specify the remote server directory like so:
    ftp://hostname:port/directory
I take the rest of the default settings. However, when I use the business ftp service by testing it in the console, it just hangs. I can successfully ftp to the server and send files from the OSB server command line to the remote server in question. So, it isn't a problem with our network or a misconfiguration of ftp. Has anyone successfully used the ftp business service in OSB? If so, how do I configure it properly? Thanks much

Have you checked server logs? Enable message tracing in operational settings and check the logs to find out where it is getting stuck.

  • File FTP to AS400 Library folder

    hi mates,
Using the receiver FTP adapter & content conversion, I'm dropping a file on AS400 in a library folder (/QSYS.LIB/XYZ.LIB/). The file is getting created with 'FILE' extension. When I download it on to my desktop and view it with wordpad, I see the actual contents and a line with non-readable character (the char looks line a box).
However, AS400 people say that the file is not usable for their programs. Because ithey run some SQL queries on it and that doesnt return any data and also when they view the content with their toold they see some non-readable characters.
What is the Receiver FTP config for dropping the fille onto a AS400 library?
I've tried using file type, Text with diff encodings given in file adapter help & Binary. It dint help.
Did any one do this kind of thing earlier? Am I missing something here.
I appreciate your inputs & references.
    thx
    praveen

    Hey
yeah, its some encoding problem.anyways, have a look at the following to make sure that you are using the correct encoding for you iSeries
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/index.jsp?topic=/rzaha/fileenc.htm
also try asking the AS400 people which encoding they expect.
i would say, dont do any FCC right now and see if the XML is going properly or not and are they able to read thata XML.if XML goes fine, then use the same encoding and do FCC.
also if you are seeing the special character(the box) in the bottom of the file, then it means that AS400 is behaving funny for new Line('nl').
    Use '0x2B' instead of 'nl'
    thanx

  • How to write non-XML data to a file using an OSB FTP Routing?

    Hi --
Situation ... I need to write non-XML data to a file using FTP. A proxy service retrieves XML and transforms it with XSLT to CSV format, then gives it to a Biz service to file it out, using FTP. Simple.
Problem ... OSB sends the contents of $body to any service it calls. Because $body is a SOAP document, it has to contain XML. So therefore I have to put my CSV data into an XML element, in order to put it into $body; and this inner element then gets written to the file, which I don’t want. But if I don't enclose my CSV content in a tag, I get "Unexpected CDATA encountered" trying to assign it to a variable.
There has to be away around this!
    Thanks for your help.
    John Taylor

    Solved. Steps:
-- Transform the XML to CSV using an XSL transform. Put the CSV data inside enclosing XML elements, and use a Replace action to put the XML element + CSV contents back into *$body*.
-- Define an MFL transform that only knows about the enclosing XML elements. Use a delimiter of "\n" (hard return).
-- Route from the proxy service to a Biz service that has Service Type = Messaging Service and Request Message Type = MFL; specify the MFL transform, which will receive the incoming *$body* variable, strip off the enclosing XML element within it, and pass the CSV contents to the FTP service.

  • Urgent: OSB FTP polling is not working, help!!!

    hi all,
I am doing an onsite poc on customer site, and configuring and proxy service on OSB(11.1.1.5) using ftp , but it just not working, not picking files in the specified folder, no error message. seems it can connect and login, but just not picking the files, though I set the mask to *.*, poll interval 3 seconds. any tricky? someone can help?
I've read all the documents abt ftp transport, and I can configure file proxy, ftp business service successfully.
thank you very much in advanced.

    no log still, for DEBUG.
error will throw in log only if I set the wrong user/password.
seems it connected to the ftp server, but just not picking the files there. I don't know why. I doubted it's the problem of the path setting, but it's the same for phsical path and relative path. not working.

We have faced similar issue in the past.
When you create the subscribing service ,create in based on XML Schema which it has to poll.
In case of WSDL based service it polls indefinitely

But for us, the file name is sent by external systems.
    The workflow is:
    1. External system call our proxy services.
    2. Proxy service get file name from SOAP message.
    3. Proxy Service get the file from FTP server.
    4. The file send to Business services.
Any suggestions to implement about workflows?

Let me first put here what I understand about the flow:
External Sytem -->(filename)--> OSB HTTP PS --> (1) --> OSB FTP BS --> Read file based on filename
    |--> (2) --> send file ontent to another system or return to the original system
If that is the flow, then I beileve ther is no straight forward way to implement it in OSB.
OSB FTP BS will only write a file to FTP Location.
If you create a JCA FTP Adapter for reading the file, then you can use it only to create a Proxy Service, and that proxy will not pick up the file when called from another service but only when a file is put on the source FTP location.
So, to implement the solution you will need to use Java Callout to a class which has code written to accept the file name as input, read the file from an FTP location and return the file content.
This is my understanding of how it is, may be there is another way to implement this or in fact may be the latest version of OSB 11.1.1.4 or 11.1.1.5 JCA adapter does support read operation within a flow instead of just at the start of the flow.

  • How to develop web services in OSB using Eclipse OEPE

    Hello,
We have some live web services developed in SOA ESB using JDeveloper.
We are now forced to migrate to OSB because of the reason that sometime next year ESB will be de-supported by Oracle.
I am looking for some good documentation which explains how to create web services in OSB using Eclipse. Please help.
I am installed Web logic + OEPE + OSB in my local machine already. All I need is to know how to start development.
    Thanks,

    Hi James
    from link:[http://www.mcpressonline.com/networking/general/the-one-as/400-ftp-command-you-must-understand.html]
I found FTP by ESB not support AS400 .I think because ESB work on mode "NAMEFMT 1"
but normal it must be "NAMEFMT 0" .
if NAMEFMT 0 it view mode library and can't see "/" root path.
I develop java program for FTP to AS400 that work correctly but esb can't.So I think ESB work on "NAMEFMT 1".

Probably the Windows FTP server chokes on the path "/FTPFolders/CUST_081210184025.txt" as it uses Unix separators. You may need to use "\FTPFolders\CUST_081210184025.txt". I can't see the properties in the XML you have given, but when you configure the FTP adapter in the application server console there should be one field for the separator and one for the root folder. Both should be "\" rather than "/" on Windows. The default is "/".
    Good luck!

  • File.ftp.FTPEx: 501 Unexpected reply codeUnknown extension in database file name

    Hi Folks,
I am trying to place file in the iSeries library folder and for this I am using a receiver file adapter with the following config, FYI, I am not using any FCC
    Target Directory : /QSYS.LIB/XXXXX.LIB/
    File Name Scheme : FILENAME.FILE
As I am doing this config for the first time I am using the following SCN discussion as my reference,
File FTP to AS400 Library folder | SCN
but i am still getting the error message at the receiver channel as below
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: An error occurred while connecting to the FTP server 'XXXXXX:21'. The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 501 Unexpected reply codeUnknown extension in database file name.'. For details, contact your FTP server vendor.
Please let me know if anyone has anymore suggestions.

    Hi Kalyan,
The File Name extension that you configured is incorrect I think.  Can you try to change the extension to .txt and try once.
    File Name Scheme : FILENAME.FILE
    Thanks,
    Satish.
