OSB: Proxy doesn't consume JMS messages

Guys, I'm getting stuck with this one ...
I've got four JMS proxy services. One of them uses Publish to enqueue a message into the three others. This way I get three copies of a single message, each in dedicated JMS queue. The same three JMS proxies are supposed to consume messages from JMS queues and process them. The configuration is the same for all three proxies and all three JMS queues. In fact all was cloned and the difference is only in suffix. So, I've got QueueA, QueueB, QueueC and ProxyA, ProxyB and ProxyC. So if I stick to these names, ProxyMain uses 3x Publish actions to enqueue a message into ProxyA, ProxyB and ProxyC at the same time. This is a proved solution and it has worked for years flawlessly!
However, something weird happened a couple of days ago. All of a sudden, one of those three consuming JMS proxies doesn't consume anything. There's no issue on producing side (the first proxy) as the numbers of messages in all three queues are still increasing. Still, only messages from QueueA and QueueB are being consumed by ProxyA and ProxyB. The third queue (QueueC) doesn't have any consumer attached from ProxyC and I don't know why.
I've already checked everything I know - proxy is enabled, there are no errors in logs related to the proxy or JMS, the issue is not reproducible in test environment with the same configuration, there are no JMS Quota or connection factory restrictions, consuming flag is enabled on queue ...
The lack of errors in logs makes me feel like the ProxyC is connected to something else. However, the same proxy is used for producing messages (from ProxyMain) and messages are incoming to the queue so the endpoint set in proxy must be correct!
Any help, hint or idea is appreciated ...

The third queue (QueueC) doesn't have any consumer attached from ProxyC and I don't know whyTry renaming ProxyC to say ProxyC1 and activate the session. This will create a new underlying MDB for the jms proxy and you will see consumers getting set on the queue.. Faced this issue many times in our production environment and easiest workaround we found was to rename the proxy service [ toggling enable/disable proxy doesn't seem to have ny effect).. you can change the name to the original proxy once the consumers are set..

Which WLS version are you using?
CR293674 seems to for issue related to persistent store.
In certain circumstances, the invocation of a WebLogic Web Service configured for reliable messaging will throw the following PersistentStoreRuntimeException error:
weblogic.store.PersistentStoreRuntimeException: [Store:280051]The persistent store was not able to create a new record.
Workaround or Solution:
When starting the WebLogic Server instance to which the reliable Web Service is deployed, set the following property:

OSB 1031: proxy service and publishing JMS messages with no duplicates

Hi all,
we have a Web Service proxy that publishes messages into a JMS queue. The queue is persistent and the related connection factory is XA enabled.
The proxy does the call to the JMS business service from a route node.
If a failure occurrs after the publishing returns successfully, the caller receives back an error and it will try again to call the web service proxy.
As the message has been published successfully and was not rollbacked by the proxy, the second call could put on the JMS queue a duplicate message.
As far as we know only with JMS proxy service, OSB starts a transaction within the pipeline or are we wrong ?
What do you suggest in order to avoid such a scenario described above ?

OSB proxy - MQ transport - return the message to MQ, on Business Service down/unavailable

My proxy is using MQ protocol to get the messages from MQ and processing the message and connecting the Business Service.
Is there anyway to send the message to back to MQ, If the Business Service is down. So the proxy will keep on try the message to processes until the BS is up

The problem is that the consumer application is picking up all files that appear in the directory. It doesn't matter what you put in.
We suggested that they use a file mask on the types of files that need to be picked up, but that seems to be a problem.
So all I want to know is, what is the behaviour of the file transport protocol as a business server and if there is any way to influence this.
And if my assumption is correct that the .a suffix is usd by the OSB while processing files.
Any extra documentation about the file transport protocol is welcome.

Can' t consume JMS messages from remote queue

Hello.
We are using Tibco JMS Server as Foreign JMS server from WL server. And WebLoigic (8.1 SP 3) MDBs are receivers. Everything works fine until there is a restart of the Tibco server. Once the queues become unavailabe, we see in the WL log that the destination is unreachable. And also once the Tibco server comes back up, WL log says that the Foreign queues have been re-connected. But still, we don't see any messages being received by the MDB. The MDBs are configured to poll for messages evey 1 second. Still we don't see it happening after the foreign server restart.
But if we re-start the WL server, it begins to work just fine.
Any pointers?

I do have the correct IP address of the syslog server set up. I do not want email logs so have not enabled that.
My setup is
remote lan > SA520-remote (192.168.160.1) > [ site to site IPSec VPN over WAN ] > SA520-local (192.168.150.1) > syslog server (192.168.150.25) & local lan
Firewall is set up to allow ANY IN & OUT to local lan on both routers.
I have also set up specific rules for UDP 514 Syslog traffic (no difference, currently disabled)
syslog server has -no- firewall at the moment.
Syslog server is receiving messages from the local router with no issues.
Log Severity is set to Information & Log Facility is set up to send to Syslog.
I have also setup a SNMP trap on the syslog server & pointed the remote router to it in hopes of diagnosing the issue.
Both routers have the latest firmware applied.
Using wireshark on the syslog server I see no traffic on UDP 514 (syslog) or UDP 162 (snmp)
I can use the WUI for the remote & ping the 160.1 with no problem. Both ping & TLS/TCP traffic show up in wireshark on the syslog server when I do so.
It looks to me like there is a problem routing the syslog messages out of the router & then back through the VPN.
Worst case I'll set up another syslog server on an old machine at the remote location & then cron the logs to the central syslog server but it really seems I shouldn't have to.

OSB Proxy design

I am developing a OSB proxy to read from JMS queue and write the message to another JMS Queue. while writing to JMS Queue if the JMS server is down, the proxy should retry for 3 times and then it should go to sleep mode for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes the proxy should wakeup , read from the queue and write to the queue.
Can anyone tell me how to implement this OSB Proxy?

In the queue from weblogic console under delivery failure settings set the parameter for Redelivery Delay Override to 20 mins. (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/apirefs.1111/e13952/pagehelp/JMSjmsdestinationsjmsqueueredeliverytitle.html)
Make sure the connection factory is xa enabled and the proxy service participates in the xa transaction.

Dynamic timeout for OSB proxy or business services

The scenario we got here is that we will have multiple synchronous webservices implemented as OSB proxy services. These proxies will then invoke a common "routing" proxy that will determine which other OSB proxy or business services (JMS Request/Response) to call and does the dynamic routing.
I understand that you can set a timeout at the business service level how long to wait for a response (at least when using the JMS transport). The problem is we got the requirement that the timeout value would be dependent on the role of the caller invoking the frontend webservice (this is done via some kind of lookup to determine the appropriate timeout setting for the invocation).
Is this possible? I can't seem to find anything exposed in the transport header that allows me to set a timeout value during runtime. This means that the frontend proxy will be waiting for a response depending on the business service timeout setting. Can we implement a timeout in this frontend proxy somehow?
Stumped right now over this. Thanks in advance for helping out.

Versioning binary files is always a pain. You can't compare them, you can't merge them ... Another point, if you put your jar archive with OSB artifacts under version control, you will most probably face issue related to end of line styles (mac, unix, windows).
However, the most important point is usability. I want to version .proxy and .biz services to see right in IDE that I changed something and I should check that in for the others. I don't want to risk that I forget something. And I also want to see what other users committed, what sources they work on ... You loose all of that by versioning jar file. I would never go this way.

Need Help:Handling CLOB in OSB Proxy Service

We have created an AQ in Oracle DB which will have the following message Structure:

In the Payload field we are enqueing an XML message.
We have to use a OSB proxy service to dequeue the message from the AQ, transform it to another format and send to a SOA Composite.
We created a AQ Adapter in Jdeveloper 11g and imported the WSDL, XSD and .jca jca binding file into the OSB project. And configured the OSB proxy service using the WSDL imported.
However in OSB proxy service message flow when I try to create an XQUERY transformation, I see that the Payload field does not expose the structure of the XML message that is being enqueued. I even changed the message structure definition to have the payload field as XMLType. But it didn't help.
On analyzing the XSD created by AQ Adapter, I see that the payload is being defined as "string" in the XSD.
Inputs Needed
=========
1. How can we parse the payload field defined as CLOB/XMLType in OSB so that I can see the structure of the XML message it holds ?
2. Is there any in-built function in OSB to convert it to XML ?
3. Any other inputs in order to transform the XML message coming in the payload field as CLOB/XMLType
Please provide your inputs and I hope that I have clearly explained my use case.

Setting JMS Message header and properties in JMS Adapter ESB Component

Hi,
I am new to using some of these adapters in Oracle ESB and need some help.
I am trying to define a JMS Publisher using JMS Adapter component in JDeveloper. I would like to publish messages with message property set to a topic. I dont find a way to do that.
I see that for consuming JMS messages, the JMS Adapter allows to specify message selector but I could not find a way for producing message with a user defined message property. I would like to use that property in the message selector to filter messages and consume.
I am using Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.3.x

I think I found the solution although I havent tried it out yet.
ESB sample 110.JMStoJMSHeaders outlines the approach.
It is my understanding that JMS Message selector can work on JMS header or JMS properties (user defined) but not on JMS body. (All the three constitue a JMS message). Hence the need to set a JMS property prior to publishing the message to a topic/queue.

Consume JMS Unit-Of-Work message through OSB proxy service

Hi,
Anyone know how to consume a JMS Unit-Of-Work (UOW) message using an OSB Proxy Service of JMS type?
I can submit a unit-of-work JMS message (which consists of multiple constituent messages) using an OSB proxy & business service combination and setting the UOW transport headers appropriately. I can also separately produce and consume Java objects via a JMS queue where the consumption is done via OSB proxy (of java request message type), but these aren't UOW messages.
Apparently as soon as it is a UOW message then the message consumed is an ObjectMessage ArrayList and one has to use the "Java" request message type for the JMS consumer proxy, but I'm unsure of how to create the concurrent client jar to use it in the same proxy service's JMS transport configuration in order to output the ObjectMessage ArrayList (UOW message).
Ideally I'd like to consume a single UOW XML message via an OSB JMS proxy service.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

Finally got this working!!
For posterity: Needed to insert Java Object JMS messages on the OSB JMS producer (Business Service) side with correct UOW jms transport header set in route node. Then consume the Unit-Of-Work message on the other side via jms proxy service with "java" request message type, with appropriate jar containing the Object class as the "Client jar" in the JMS Transport configuration. In the same JMS consumer proxy I had to do a java callout, passing the contents of $body, using java.util.ArrayList and javax.jms.ObjectMessage, as input into a method (.. decodeJavaMessage(ArrayList<ObjectMessage> ...)). In this java callout class you can get to each individual ObjectMessage via typecasting the get() method on the Arraylist to (ObjectMessage) and then just typecast the getObject() on this Objectmessage into your original Java Class (same as what you inserted onto queue originally).
Hope this saves someone some time in future!

Publishing message to JMS Queue on Weblogic from OSB proxy service

Hi,
1. I have created a JMS module: testModule and a JMS queue: testQueue in the weblogic admin console.
2. Created a business service with the above queue as endpoint.
3. Created a proxy service which publishes the message to the queue using the business service. I have used Publish activity to publish the message to the business service.
When i run the proxy service with the request message, then, no error is coming but, in the admin console when i click on JMS module->testModule->testQueue->Monitoring tab, i see nothing. There are no entries in the table so, how can i check if the message is properly published to the queue or not.
The queue is not listened by any service for consuming the messages.
Kindly help me in figuring out this issue.

If the destination was a topic, the behavior would be expected. Messages only stays on a topic and are delivered to consumers if there are consumers or durable subscribers.
Did you check the server logs and see if there are any exceptions or warnings?
You can also turn on jms debugging by adding the following to your server startup script.
-Dweblogic.debug.DebugJMSFrontEnd=true
-Dweblogic.debug.DebugJMSBackEnd=true
The debugging messages wiill show up in the server log.

OSB 11g acting as a JMS Proxy

I was hoping that someone can clear my understanding of OSB and how it interacts with JMS.
I created a JMS server, connection and topic in WLS. It works great. I am able to subscribe and publish from a java client and from an OSB business service.
Our use case is to use OSB as a "front end" to JMS if you will. We want JMS clients to be able to connect to OSB and subscribe to our JMS topic (durable). Is it possible to subscribe to a proxy service from a JMS client? How do I do it?
The next thing we are going to try to do is have an OSB process listen to our JMS topic and invoke a web service when a new message is published. Any guides on this?

We want JMS clients to be able to connect to OSB and subscribe to our JMS topic (durable). Is it possible to subscribe to a proxy service from a JMS client? How do I do it?I don't think subscribing to a proxy service is possible. Instead create a separate queue (or any other storage), for your client application and let OSB pull the message from source queue and pass it to target storage (may be another JMS queue)

Any guides on this?This approach is quite similar to what I mentioned above. Just create a JMS proxy service to let it consume messages from topic and create a Business Service (WSDL based web-service) to invoke the target web-service. In the message flow of JMS proxy you may have transformation if required, and then route the message to business service which will eventually deliver the message to target web-service.

JMS Unit-Of-Work in OSB Proxy Service

I'm trying to create a JMS Unit-of-Work OSB Service by populating the JMS transport user properties:
JMS_BEA_UnitOfWork
JMS_BEA_UnitOfWorkSequenceNumber
JMS_BEA_IsUnitOfWorkEnd
However, after publishing all of the messages to the Queue, JMS is not recognizing the end of the UOW.
When I publish the last message in the UOW, I set 'JMS_BEA_IsUnitOfWorkEnd' in the transport header properties to true(). However, when I look at the last message in the queue, it shows correctly that the JMS Properties Key is 'JMS_BEA_IsUnitOfWorkEnd', the Value is 'true', but the type is 'java.lang.String.' I believe the problem could be that the type is incorrect - it should be a java.lang.Boolean. However, I cannot figure out how to make it a boolean. Can you help? Do I need a boolean here? How do I assign a boolen to the transport header? I've tried 'true', 'true()', and xs:boolean('true') and they all wind up be java.lang.String!

string value for JMS_BEA_IsUnitOfWorkEnd should work just fine.
Make sure all messages in the same group has the same JMS_BEA_UnitOfWork value.
you can use OSB to produce unit of work messages.
for the consumer, you need to create a jms proxy using java type, then use a java callout to convert the message array list into xml that you can then process in a for loop.
