Try to reset NVRAM as described in my last post and If that doesent work, contact Apple for repair.

Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out.  --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

Is there a download of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software if I'm not using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3?
Yes, you can download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.
How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
Click Erase, and choose one of the following from the Format pop-up menu:
If the size of the disk is 32 GB or less, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
If the size of the disk is over 32 GB, choose ExFAT.
Type a name for the disk. The maximum length is 11 characters.
Click the Erase button and then click Erase again.
Which versions of Windows are supported with Boot Camp 5?
64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp. On my mac I have both Quicktime X and Quicktime 7 pro. Both applications seem to be crashing quite often lately. This happens when playing all files types. I notice it more with .flv file. It usually happens when i grab the time slider bar and try to move it. The apps will freeze and I have to "force quit" to get them to close. Sometimes putting the computer to sleep and waking it up helps. Is there a way to remedy this?

    Hi,
In order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
    1. Navigate to the %systemroot%\Minidump folder.
    2. Copy any and all DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
    3. Upload the zip containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Preferred sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers, download managers, etc.
4 (optional): The type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference
between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains
much more information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best
choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps are much larger in size due to containing much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
If you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:
Upload photos and files to Onedrive.
After doing that, to learn how to share the link to the file if you are unaware, please visit the following link -
Share files and folders and change permissions and view 'Get a link'.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUpUtilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon use. With this said, if you've run such software, you will need to allow the system to crash once again to generate a crash dump.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
    1. Start > type %systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
    2. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all
    drives'.
    3. Windows key + Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system
    log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
    4. Double check that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than
Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.
If you cannot get into normal mode to do any of this, please do this via Safe Mode.
    Regards,
    Patrick

  • BI 7 Bex seems to crash quite often

    Hi All,
Since using BI 7 my Bex seems to crash quite often (I hear the same complaints from other users) . Lately it seems to be even worse. it normally happens when I am trying to update the variable selection screen The system freezes and I get a fatal excel error. (guess it may be a widespread issue with Bi7)  Does anyone meet the similar problem and do you have any suggestion for this.
    Thanks a lot,

    Hi everybody,
we experience similar problems - but: and this is very annoying: the problem occours very sporadicaly and seems not to be reproduceable.
There seems not to be any client-side log or error-message in the most cases. The client just crashes.  The server-logs state that obviously the client just disappeared and hence the connection was broken.
It seems as if the crash would occour often in the context of opening the variables-screen.
We're at SPS18 - which is currently the latest service-pack-stack-level.

  • Adobe flash player 11.8.800.94 crashes quite often, is there a solution?

The adobe flash player has always crashed for me on occasion, I attributed this simply to be a necessary evil.
However I recently upgraded to the new 11.8.800.94 and have noticed quite a few new quirks that are becoming quite irritating as time goes on and I was wondering if anyone has experienced these as well or know of any potential fixes.
I frequently have youtube videos open on one of my monitors and on the other a webcam chatting service, omegle and the like.
Here is where the issues begin, I will occasionally get a very noticable audio feedback in my headset. It does not happen every time I switch to speaking with someone else but it is often enough that I find it quite irritating.
The second issue I have is far more irritating however, what used to be a crash maybe once a day has become 20+ times a day.
I use Firefox and currently have ver. 22.0 of that browser, now I have not tested it on chrome or internet explorer because neither of those have the ad block capacity that I enjoy and I would prefer not to use another browser.
Has anyone else been experiencing similar problems?

I also have this sudden problem with Flash 11.8 that is crashes sometimes every some minutes on flash cam chat sites.
You should go to about:crashes in your browser and click the latest crashes and look, if you come to this kind of bug:
    https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/7ac3f843-9dd4-40c2-a861-4296c2130707
    http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=888616
It's a top crasher for flash in FF22.
Right now while writing this, I have such flash chat crash.
Going back to Flash 11.7 from the archives helped me.
But I did this mistake to update again hoping for a fix.

  • In Mountain Lion, GChrome suddenly started crashing/quitting at launch

Is there a glitch in Mountain Lion in relation to Google Chrome? Or vice versa some wort of incompatibility? I've used Chrome faultlessly on my MacBook Pro (running Snow Leopard) since its original introduction. I replaced my MBP with a new MBP-Retina in October 2012. I've been using Chrome again without any issues. Then, just a few days ago, I updated Chrome (I have always updated applications at every single increment) and used the new version for a few hours. Then Chrome 'Unexpectedly Quit' after a download (a download I've used many times over the years and I don't suspect it of issues). When I relaunched it, it launched for about 10 seconds then quit again. Then I see a crash report window with a whole bunch of technical data (gobbledigook to me!).
Now, that's all Chrome does if I try to use it.
    I've tried:
    - running Intego Virus Barrier (latest version and latest definitions) to check for a virus or something else. Nothing showed up.
    - uninstalling Chrome using an App Uninstaller, then restart.
    - manually deleting Chrome and all the Google files and settings prefs etc I could find, and restart, then installing an older version of Chrome from backup, then restart in Recovery Disk, then Repair Permissions and Repair Disk (using Disk Utility), then restart again.
None of those variations made no difference to this issue of GChrome quitting/crashing on launch.
When I relaunch Chrome, it still always comes up with the option pane to re-open previous windows due to Chrome havign unexpectedly quit.
    - I've tried relaunching Chrome and saying yes, relaunching Chrome and saying no, and relaunching Chrome and just ignoring that option. Nothing different in the results.
As you'll see, I've tried to launch Chrome MANY times to figure this out but it just won't stay open.
Are there files somewhere in Mountain Lion that I can delete manually that could be making Chrome reload in the same old problem configuration?
Maybe something is in Chrome's cache. Can I empty Chrome's cache without having to launch the application?
If I post the info in the crash report that appears each time this happens, will there be info in that which could be helpful in resolving this issue?
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thank you.

For anyone who has been having this issue... I found that it's a corrupt Google user account. Went to ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/ and deleted 'Default' folder, then setup my Google account afresh. Just had to re-import all my bookmarks from my html backup file. All is well again.

  • CS4 crashing quite often

I have a Canon VIXIA, my computer chokes when editing the .mts files, so I do a quick conversion to .mpg which seems to be more manageable.
But CS4 will often freeze up when editing these files. The computer is a notebook, 2 Ghz 2 Duo with 4 GB of ram. Only one disk in it, but that doesn't seem to be the problem, the problem is that it freezes at a certain point on some .mpg clips if they are in the timeline.
What I do in these situations is edit around the second that is causing a problem using the Source Monitor. Very gingerly so as not to crash PP.
As strange as it seems, there are certain seconds in some clips that PP doesn't "like."
I'm hoping I've given enough info here for someone to help me, it's very frustrating.
    Thanks
    David

    David,
Your system is way underpowered and does not meet minimum requirements. It is liking towing a 40 ton load with a bicycle.
    You have three choices:
    1. Get another camera that gives you easier material to edit, with a less taxing codec.
    2. Get a new PC, suitable for editing that AVCHD material. Think i7-930, 12 GB memory and at least three internal disks.
    3. Use another editor that requires less muscle, Think Edius for instance.

  • BB10.3 Upgrade would kill all installed Android apps, with deadly crashes quite often

BB10.3 alpha looks great and seems to be faster. I even entertianed the idea of writing a positive review about it.
But after upgrading to BB10.3 and restoring all the apps using BlackBerry Link, all android apps would stop working. BB10.3 also have a few more hard crashes that I have to take out the battery to reboot. These bugs need to be fixed asap to keep the fans happy. URGENT!
Why people had been dumping their BlackBerry in droves? It's because of these frustrating bugs. Someone need to inform John Chen's engineering team about these issues.

I agree. The 'fans' as you call them are not supposed to have 10.3 yet.
Writing a review on an unreleased alpha or beta product doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
The whole point of realing alpha and beta releases to those that are supposed to have them *IS* to find and hopefully fix bugs before the release.

  • Since I downloaded 4.0, FF has been very slow to respond to pretty much any request. It crashes quite often, and now after uninstalling it, and reloading it, I cannot even get it to start. sure could use some good advice.

I had been using 3.something without any problems. After I downloaded 4.0 my troubles started. I would be reading the news in Yahoo and would click on the next page or news item and would get the message ' Oops, well this is embarassing'. Or when I would be looking for something, it would just lock up. When it would finally get to where I wanted to be, it was taking longer and longer to respond. Today, I can't even get it to open at all. Nothing else was altered or added or deleted that might affect FF.
    Hope this helps.

  • Iphone 4s, sending a message crashes quite often with picts

I have a message thread open and go to reply...
I snap a picture, hit the audio button to for speech to text...
hit send and...booom...message app just closes.
    anyone else?
    even happens with different people.
    open message
    insert existing picture
    record some text
    hit send
    BOOM; message app dies
If I TYPE the message it works fine.
    anybody else see this behavior?

Same here. Made an appointment at Genius Bar yesterday and confirmed it's a repeatable bug and occurs on every iPhone 4S they tested regardless of carrier (ie. Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T).
The Genius I spoke with reported it to engineering, so with luck it will be fixed in the next iOS update.
In the meantime, my workaround is to send the photo first, then dictate the text into a separate message.
    I hope that helps.

  • Why is my Logic crashing so often....

hi, I am a new user of  Logic on a Mac OS X Maverick 10.9.2
Prozessor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Speicher   14 GB    1067 MHz DDR3
and have the program crashing quite often. Many times  I have to start a project/song 2 or 3 times before it runs smoothly (for a while).
Any Ideas?   I added 3 screenshots:

Some apps may require update to resolve the crashing problem, You an try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Crash reporter often generates empty (0 kb) dump (dmp) files

My Firefox crashes quite often, but that's not the topic of this question. The problem is that often when it crashes, an empty dmp file is generated which causes the crash reporter not to submit the crash report. I have used the about:crashes page to submit pending reports that had non-empty dmp files, but not one report with an empty one got submitted.
I think this (generating empty dmp files) is a bug that needs to be solved to better solve other bugs. Can anyone give me any information about this bug (preferably how to fix it)? Should I post a bug report to Bugzilla?

Right. After almost a day I finally sorted the problem.
Adobe Reader worked under the spare Admin account so I deleted that in case it was confusing the installer.  I then rerpaired persmissions.  I then re-installed Reader.  Same problem "Internal Error"!!
So, I re-created another Admin account and opened Reader.  No problem.  After clicking accept licence it opened up with a question to make default or not.  After this I hunted through every folder and found that Under 'User/Librarary/Application Support/Adobe' there was an Acrobat folder.  When I checked the account I normally use there wasn't, and never was??  So I copied pasted a copy of the Acrobat folder into the same location on the non working account and all is fine.
Problem for me is, why did this happen?  I wasted almost a day on this. Is it a problem with the installer, the Macbook or Permissions.  I checked permissions and they are identical to those on the spare Admin account.  So why did the installer not create the Acrobat folder on the main account from where it was installed?  Reason it concerns me is with regard to updates.  Will they also screw up?
I'll try to explore further as times goes on but for now I have to say I've had enough of Acrobat and Lion for one day.  "It just works".  Really???
