OSX mail counts always incorrect
The red badges on top of the mail icon, as well as the oval dark grey badges next to mailboxes are only very rarely correct. For example, at this moment the "Flagged" mailbox has a badge with the number 4. Clicking on it reveals that there are actually only three mails in that mailbox, and that furthermore none is flagged. So it is doubly wrong. There are similar issues with the "recent" mailbox, and the Dock icon. It is very annoying to see an unread mail badge, and not being able to find any unread mails. I am mainly using IMAP mail; perhaps the problem does not occur with iCloud mail.
This problem first appeared in OSX Leopard(!) years ago, and I have seen it on at least six different computers, in all later versions of OSX, during many years. With every new version I am hoping that it is fixed, and with Yosemite once again I am disappointed. How hard can it be to count? Or is there perhaps something I can change to fix this problem once and for all?

This has indeed solved the problem for now, but I did not award a green checkmark yet, because I want to wait and see if it comes back.
For anyone else trying this: a lot of patience is required, and the results may not seem correct at first. Re-indexing my 29412 messages took 25 minutes. After that, my "Flagged" mailbox was empty, even though I knew I had a flagged message. My "recent" mailbox contained only 2 of the about 100 messages it should contain. These problems eventually disappeared (I expected this because I had seen empty "recent" mailboxes before), but it took at least one additional hour before both "Flagged" and "recent" were in their correct state.
Yes, I do have a huge number of messages, but it is well-organised in mailboxes, and my inbox has only 26 right now. It is disappointing that Mail.app has so much trouble with this.

I see that once I've opened mail, the mail count is only correct for the first download. After that, the count just adds on to whatever it was before. This is for sent and received mail, and not sure if it makes a difference, but it's on a POP account.
This worked fine in all previous versions.
I can reset it by quitting out of mail, but that is counterproductive.

Hi,
I did a synch this morning and seem to have buggered the 'unread' mail count
that badges the Phone Icon.
I also upgraded to OSX 10.5.7...
It asserts that there are 11 unread messages but I cannot find any...
How can I clear the incorrect mail count?

I think when I did the sync it added a new mail
account that I had created on my mac for tracking
my wifes medical correspondence...
The badge count matched the number of unread mails in
the new account.

If I am missing what you are asking then please provide instructions as to how to find this error information. You are posting the error message for the exception but not printing the stack trace.
Far as I can tell you are printing more information with each exception (for example "Exception creating Users table") but you did not post what that was, that info would localize the problem.
As a guess the problem is when you extract the fields via the query. You are using named values rather than indexes and you use "select *" rather than specifically naming the columns. Some databases (for example Oracle), require that using names must be in exactly the same order as the query returns them. You have no idea what that order is because you use "select *"
Finally it would be a LOT easier if you wrote classes that did nothing but the database operations. NO GUI CODE. You then test that code to make sure it works. Once that code works then you write gui code which uses those classes. Besides making it easier to understand you are also more likely to get assistance since there is less code to look at. -
After updating to ISO6, my email sending get extremely slow or dispeard. on the botton line of mail page always indicate "sending # of 9", however I do not know where to check or delete these unsent items. Please help! It has consumed lots of data.

Attachment in OSX Mail are placed in random areas within e-mail
Why is it when I add an attachment to Mail in OSX mail, it places the attachement in random places within my typed e-mail? Why doesn't it just attach blow in a designate spot? Instead I could type out a long e-mail and then when I place the attachment it puts it in some random spot within the e-mail, breaking up the formatting of the e-mail and making it look very unprofessional. I am working with OSX Lion but this also happens on non Lion Machines. Most of the files are Word 2011 files, some others are Excel, while also occuring with JPEG, and MPEG. Fix this please.
Being users like yourself, we cannot really fix anything.
But...
As far as I can tell, the attachment always gets inserted where your cursor is currently located.
You can, of course, move the attachment to any place you want, e.g., the end of the message, by dragging.

E-mail counter for POP3 account has gone negative
When all e-mails are read the e-mail counter shows "-1/0". Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?
Yeah it's just an annoyance really. It now says "-2/0", while my empty deleted items folder has a 2 next to it. Weird. I noticed an e-mail dated Dec 31,1969 just before it went to -2. I always delete everything anyway since all messages are saved at home, so I suppose I could delete the account and set it up again.

When I hit reply on the .Mac Mail site, an incorrect address is generatedW
When I'm using the mail program on the Internet .mac site, and hit reply to respond to a letter I received, inevitably the automatic address generated by the program won't function. The reply button puts the person's name and then e-mail address in brackets on the address line. When I hit the command to send, I receive a message that the address is not a valid e-mail address. Then I have to go back and erase the name and remove the brackets-then I am able to send the e-mail. Is everyone having this problem with mail on the .Mac site? I mean I am not typing in the e-mail address incorrectly. The program generates the return e-mail address when I hit reply and it is always incorrect because it puts the person's name as part of the e-mail. Am I doing something wrong?

replying to contains a comma and webmail tries to
send it to two people.
eg if a mail comes from SURNAME, FORENAME
<[email protected]> then I will get an
error as the program thinks that SURNAME is an
invalid address
but I get an error message every time. It brings up the person's name followed by the email address in brackets. Then when I try to send, I get the message that this is not a valid address. Is this happening with everyone on .Mac site? Surely not or they would fix it. -

Mail hang with multiple pop accounts and invalid new mail counter

More than a year ago, I migrated all email accounts from Outlook to Apple Mail using O2M application. I have 2 pop accounts and gmail account. Everything worked fine for a few month but then Mail started to hang during message receiving. It did so very often (4/5 times). When it does, nothing will revive it except a "force quit".
I tried to fetch email from each account individually, that worked well every time. After I was sure that it has to do with getting new mail simultaneously, I tried everything to fix it. I tried to reconstruct all the mail boxes, I tried using only 2 boxes with all combinations (1 pop 1 gmail, 2 pop, etc) but nothing worked.
I even tried to export all my mail boxes, then delete everything from Mail then reimport them with no luck.
In addition, a couple of months later, my "Inbox" new mail counter started to sometimes displaying the wrong new mail count. It displays 2-4 new messages while there is none. In order to be sure, I created a smart mail box to have only new mail and it had none. By simply switching to any other folder then returning back to Inbox solves the problem.
Can any one help?Make absolutely sure that your email addresses and configuration are correct. In nearly every case I've encountered, this is the problem.
If you've confirmed this, make sure you're configured properly on your webmail account, if you have one. Webmail is something like ATT, the source of your internet.
If you're still flummoxed, play hardball. Make sure you have all your current account info and passwords, and delete them in Mail/Preferences/Accounts. Then, reenter them one by one until they're perfect. This makes sure your settings are consistent and correct. -

Then I could finally log in App store also.
But still I feel something is wrong with my connection.

HTML emails are blank in OSX Mail - but they show up fine in Entourage!
I send emails to a subscriber list through a third-party system.
The problem is what OSX Mail does with my HTML emails! OSX Mail users get emails that appear to be totally blank. On further inspection, though, the emails are not blank at all—all the information is there if you go to View>Message>Previous Alternative. In "Raw Text", the entire message shows up, including the plain text alternative which was sent along with the HTML, and which was SUPPOSED to show up if the HTML did not.
Notably, I've tested these same messages using Entourage to receive them on my Mac, and the messages show up exactly as they should. Is Apple aware of this problem????Since in general OS X Mail receives html just, there must be something about the format used by your 3rd party sender which it does not like. To make Apple aware of the problem, use the feedback channel and send them the raw source which does not display.

Ios 7 flagged mail count is 25695 but there are no messages in flagged mailbox
There are no messages in this iPhone in any of the mailboxes (including trash) yet the flagged mail count is over 25000, and the mail app is using over 2.6GB
