OT: help deciphering error log

Question

ok, so now that i've discovered error logs (thanks, Micha! i
didn't even know i could look at them before you prompted me to
look for my other problem), i'm examining them for problems with
the sites i work on. for the most part, it's pretty
self-explanatory. but i've seen the following error a couple times,
and i'm not sure what it means or if it's something i should be
worried about:
[PHPFormMail] HTTP_REFERER checking is turned off. Referer:
http://www.mydomain.com/;
Client IP: 71.105.232;
[PHPFormMail] Normal e-mail sent from IP 71.105.232
it doesn't happen every time the form is submitted, and as
far i can tell we still get the email. i guess i'm mainly just
curious as to why this error occurs. any ideas?
CORRECTION: on one site, this error IS occurring every time
the form is submitted.

That's not really a server error, but from the mail script.
So it might
help to look through the script's documentation or FAQ what
causes this
or why it is reported as an error (doesn't look like an error
to me).
