Outlook 2010 Starts but is not Visible
Outlook will start but no window will show. The task bar shows Outlook is open and I can right click "New Message" (and all others) and it will show. But the main window is gone. Recently (last couple of months) the window has been
opening very small; not much bigger than an icon. PC is 18 months old; everything up to date; Office is 4-6 months old.
I tried opening Outlook in safe mode (Start: Outlook /safe) but the same result occurred.
Any help appreciated. Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris,
Can you check the below things..
1. Check whether HIDE WHEN MINIMIZE option is selected - by right clicking the outlook icon on the right corner
2. If it is ok, then run the below outlook switches
Close outlook - Start - Run - Type the below outlook switches
Outlook /resetnavpane
Outlook /nopreview
Outlook /recycle
Outlook /restore
either one of the outlook switch will display the outlook 2010. If you are still facing the issue, kindly past the print screen of the desktop when outlook is openend
Thank you

I have an iPhone (running the latest device software) and have Outlook 2010 for PC on my desktop. I have several Outlook 2010 Contact Folders/Groups but when I try to sync with my iPhone I only have the option to sync all of my contacts.
When I sync this -- the only Outlook folder/group that is synced is my main 'Contacts' folder/group. All the rest of my folders/groups are not being transferred to my iPhone. I've had this issue for a few months now -- and though I like the iPhone, my old Blackberry nev er presented this problem when it came to the simple base function of syncing. Appreciate your help -- as I am out of answers. Thanks.Hello kungpow112,

Outlook 2010 loads but does not display on monitor
Very strange problem. When I click on Outlook 2010, the splash screen appears and it seems to load, but does not appear on my monitor. Task Managerr shows the application is running, so I guess it is there somewhere. All the other Office 2010 programs work
fine.
I am running Win 7 Professional 32bit, dual core 2.7 cpu, 4 gb ram. Everything else works fine. I was having a problem with Outlook 2003 crashing and had not tried Outlook 2010.
Have the same problem in Safe mode.
I did run scanpst.exe and it only found (and repaired) a few files that it felt were not important. I transferred my .pst file to my wife's computer and her copy of Outlook 2010 opened it fine. I used her computer to delete all items in the
"deleted" file. My total pst file is about 142mb. I have defragmented this hard disk. I don't have a Win7 installation disk because I downloaded the Office 2010 file and used a legitimate key to activate it
I think there is a simple answer. Appreciate your help in finding it.I found my problem.
“Add-ons” were the source of the problem.
I believe there was a conflict between two programs:
Norton’s Security Suite and AnVir Security Suite.
Both were trying to scan my incoming e-mail.
I uninstalled AnVir, reset Outlook back to its original configuration (i.e. reversed all the changes I described above), and my problem is gone.
Not sure why this problem took so long to appear as both programs had been install for at least a month without issues.
I used AnVir and ZoneAlarm for over a year together without issues.
However, about one month ago, I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and installed Norton’s Security Suite.
In any event, uninstalling AnVir solved the problem.
Uninstalling Norton’s and keeping AnVir would probably work as well. -
Outlook 2010 messages that have not been deleted are available in Recover deleted Items list
Hello,
Outlook 2010\Exchange 2010 SP1-clustred
I have looked at several mail accounts through Outlook 2010 client, they are not using the cached mode, they have not emptied the trash.
When I look in Recover deleted items I am seeing messages, mostly sent messages that are available for recovery, the problem is that these messages have not been deleted, they are
still in the sent folder.
I have restored one to see what will happen, it does restore to the deleted items folder.
It seems to random messages some sent to groups some sent to a single individual
Some Outlook 2010 clients I have checked do not show this problem, but several do including myself, I would have assumed that the Outlook 2010 client user had somehow deleted
it and restored it causing this problem if I did not see this on my own account.
Is this normal behavior? Perhaps some from replication or temp draft's
Any help or information would be appreciated.
ThanksSince the post is over two year old, I'm not sure manotelli is still following it, but I think he is talking about something else:
1. He starts a message and does not complete it (or send it).
2. The message is saved as a draft pending completion.
3. Once he completes the message and sends it, there is an autosaved version that is deleted.
I'm not sure what relationship exists between the "draft" which (I would think) is what is ultimately sent when the message is completed and whatever is sent to the recycle bin.
It has nothing to do with webmail (OWA) or any form of remote access.

Problem:
When I plug in my iPhone to sync, it starts but does not complete the process and several pieces of data are not being transferred to my iPhone from my MacBook Air.
Any help that you can provide in helping my iPhone accurately sync with iPhoto and iTunes will be greatly appreciated.
Symptoms:
1) Sync: It’s not completing the sync. Below, I’ve provided all of my settings from the iTunes Summary tab so that you might tell me if I’ve selected any incorrect options. I prefer to sync the “old school” way – by connecting to the computer – as opposed to syncing over the cloud. Perhaps this is what’s causing the problem? Here is a list of the steps displayed in the iTunes window as the sync progresses:
waiting for sync to start (step 1 of 7)
backing up (step 2 of 7)
preparing to sync (step 3 of 7)
determining apps to sync (step 4 of 7)
preparing apps to sync (step 5 of 7)
importing photos (step 6 of 7)
waiting for changes to be applied (step 7 of 7)
syncing apps / copying 1 of 4 (App name) (step 7 of 7)
canceling sync
apple icon
2) Photos: I've selected only certain of my iPhoto albums to sync to my iPhone. All of the albums are correct/complete in iPhoto. All of the albums are listed on my iPhone, both before and after the sync, but the albums are empty (no actual photos) before and after the sync. Perhaps this is tied to the fact that the sync isn’t completing, but because “importing photos” is one of the steps that the incomplete sync displays, I don’t know.
3) Apps: When I launch iTunes and click on the Apps folder under the Library listing, then click on the Updates tab, iTunes searches for any Apps needing to be updated and provides a list. If I click on Update All, the Apps are successfully updated in iTunes. But, when I plug in my iPhone so that the updates will transfer to the apps on my iPhone, the updates don’t transfer to the apps on my iPhone and those apps still reflect that they need updating on the iPhone.
Other Potential Pertinent Info:
The flash memory hard drive on my MacBook Air recently died (perhaps a month or two ago). Apple had emailed me about a known issue and literally the next day, my MacBook Air crashed. I installed a new flash memory drive and re-installed everything from a backup off of an external hard drive. Everything seems to be working fine; it recreated accurately all of my software and data, including iPhoto and iTunes, the pictures and songs (respectively) for which are stored on that hard drive, as opposed to being on the flash memory in the MacBook Air itself. However, I don’t recall if the start of the sync problem described herein started happening at the same time that I replaced the flash memory drive. All I know is that the computer is working perfectly in all respects and that even as the sync is failing, it at least says that it’s doing the right things and looking in the right places (e.g., the list of albums on my iPhone matches the list of albums in iTunes, etc.).

The CSS Designer panel is a fairly new addition to DW. The version of DW you are using is older than the tutorial video by at least one version.
There were quite a few changes between these versions...
DWCS6 Perpetual (disk/one-time download)
DWCS6 Cloud (subscription)
DWCC (first one with the CSS Designer panel)
DWCC 2014
You really should make sure any tutorial you use matches your exact version of the program. Even if it does, updates to the cloud versions may make that information outdated in short order. -
hi All,
Please help me. my flv video file works perfectly localy in
my computer...but its not visible when i uploaded the flv html and
flash files to ftp?
thanks in advanceThis suggestion worked to see the hidden folder(s). Thanks very much, but I feel like I am miles away from moving my ipod music to my new computer and getting it all to work. Here is why...
1. First when I plug the ipod in, in disk mode, to the USB slot it shows up as a K drive for a minute or so and then disappears. itunes keeps opening, asking me to sync (which will erase all my music on the ipod!) and the K drive (ipod) vanishes.
2. I pod help says to drag the itunes file out to the desktop and then drag the itunes file on the ipod into the "my music" file within documents and settings. However, there is an "ipod control" file (was hidden) and within this there is the following: artwork, itunes (with 13 subfolders of its own), device, and music. So do I just drag the itunes file inside ipod control into My music? Or do I drag the whole ipod control file? or other?
3. Additionally there are K drive (ipod) files for calendar, photos, contacts, notes, and ipod control (was hidden). I don't care about any content in the first four, but are they needed to operate? Do I drag these over also to the My music file?
Whew, very frustrating. Thanks, Ric -

Yesterday my Firefox 4 just stopped working. When I click on firefox icon - new process appears in task manager list, but I can't see firefox windows. After killing firefox.exe process I can start another one, but still no firefox windows are shown.
Tried to re-install (with deleted profiles and whole installation from Program Files folder). Tried 3.x and 4.x versions, no luck. This is no window focus problem (or it's position outside the desktop) - firefox.exe process starts, but no GUI objects are created (checked with sysinternals procexplorer)
Computer is well anti-malware and virus protected. Reinstalled newest NVIDIA drivers (WHQL), all updates from Windows Update. I've been reading that there was some prob. with NVIDIA drivers (9800GT), but this just happened suddenly - without new updates or installed programs - just during the day...I'm having this same problem and here is how I got to this place. First, it doesn't happen every time. About 50% of boots will Firefox not work. (The process starts, but no window opens.) I have an SSD that is smallish... 64 GB running Windows 7. It is a machine I built myself. I have about 11 Gig free at any given time. I have a 2 Tb secondary drive where I keep my data and some, less used, programs. This is also where I keep my virtual machines (VM). I currently have 2 linux machines. Last night, I tried creating a Windows 7 (W7) virtual machine with an extra copy of W7 that I have. Well, I forgot to switch the target VM install area from my system disk to the secondary disk. When I realized what I had done, the install was almost finished and I had about 1 GB left. I worked to kill everything and delete the W7 VM. (That was a time consuming pain. PC was as slow as mud, which was to be expected, I guess.) So, after I got the W7 VM deleted everything seemed to be alright, until I tried to start Firefox and it wouldn't. Thunderbird 3 also won't start. As well as Norton Antivirus. I haven't tested any other programs; however, IE will start. As will Photoshop, Wiper.exe, CCleaner and Windows Media Player. I have my machine locked down; so, I'm confident it isn't a virus or malware. (I ran a full scan yesterday and this morning - when I got Norton to start.)
I'm not thinking this is directly a Firefox issue; however, any help would be appreciated. Heh, I don't have the time or the will to rebuild the software on this machine. I do have a backup, but I've never had much luck getting those to work properly.
Thanks for any help. -
Outlook 2010 SP1 Profile Does Not Update After Moving Mailbox Between Exchange 2010 SP2 Sites
I am working on a large mailbox migration from one AD site to another.
Exchange version at both sites:Exchange 2010 SP2
Two Mailbox Servers: MBX01 in site A / MBX02 in site B
(There is a DAG but keeping this simple)
Two CAS Arrays: CASA.domain.com / CASB.domain.com
The RPCClientAccessServer property is set accordingly. Where MBX01 is set to CASA.domain.com and MBX02 is set to CASB.domain.com
Clients:Outlook 2010 SP1
Scenario: I successfully move a mailbox from Site A to Site B. The Outlook client does not automatically update its server settings to point to the new cas array (CASB.domain.com) and continues to connect to the old CAS server (CASA.domain.com).
I have seen a few articles regarding this pointing to workarounds such as:
- repairing the outlook profile on the client
- delete the existing outlook profile
- run a script to update the prf file (re-cache's email at the client)
I am interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced this, what their solution was for a large migration and if any roll-ups or service packs have possibly fixed this problem.
I would also like to know if you have seen this affect ActiveSync devices. I am getting mixed results in my tests and thought it may be contributed toward different device types, mobile os versions, etc...
I have posted this to the Exchange 2010 forum as well, just wasn't sure where to start.
Thanks.

N97 GPS WORKING BUT MAPS NOT VISIBLE- - ADVICE PL...
Hi All
A few months ago I upgraded my N97 SW.
Im now on the following –
Software Version -V21.0.045
Custom version – 21.0.045.C01.01
Date 14-01-10
Model N97
Type RM-505
Language Set 15
A few weeks after this I started my maps (UAE) and although the GPS was working the maps were not visible.
If I start maps and goto options-->Shop --> My licenses
Its says that “Drive all regions” expired on 23/01/2010
I thought it was my SW upgrade that screwed up the maps but it looks like it’s the subscription.
Can someone confirm that this is the reason that my MAPS are not visible and what myoptions are for purchasing so that I can see where Im going?
Advice and help much appreciated.
Jimmy
PS it was purchased from Sharif DJSince you are already on v21, go to Menu>Apps>Software Update>And download the new Ovi maps 3.03 (free lifetime navigation).
After wards connect your phone to your PC via Ovi Suite and download the updated maps for your phone. These maps are updated every now and then (addition of more roads, new data, etc). Also updating the maps may render old maps incompatible with new app.

We have the exact same issue as this but our groups are already universal security group and we still have problem:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-NZ/exchangesvrmigration/thread/2c953cb4-5411-4f72-beb9-6b4c16fd6685
The distribution-groups were upgraded to Exchange 2010. User A can update the group from Outlook 2003 or OWA 2010 but not from Outlook 2010. Anyone know the solution?
thanksHi lilyl,
For this issue, please refer to this document:
How to Manage Groups that I already own in Exchange 2010?
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2009/11/18/3408844.aspx
So what does the "Changes to the distribution list membership cannot be saved. You do not have sufficient permission to perform
this operation on this object." error mean, when you are connecting to an Exchange 2010 server?
It means Exchange 2010 is doing its job - as designed...

Evan

Outlook 2010 Advanced Find Contacts Not Working
Some Outlook 2010 Advanced Find criteria work but the "email is not empty" and "email is empty" criteria return no results though there are contacts that have the Email field populated.
Hi,
Are you using Search Tools > Advanced Find > Advanced tab > Field > Email Fields > Email? Please make sure you selected the correct Contacts folder when you perform the search.
We can also try remove Outlook from the indexing location to check the result. To do this, click Search Tools > Search Options > Indexing Options > Modify > clear the check box before Outlook...
Please let me know the result.
