Outlook asking for password at login

Hello,
I am just about done with a migration from Server 2003 64Bit with Exchange 2007 to SBS 2011.  I have moved all the Mailboxes and installed all the latest Service packs and Roll ups on the SBS 2011 server.  I have done many migrations like this
though most are SBS 2008 to 2011 and I know that until you install Exchange SP3 with Roll up 7 you will get prompted for a login even time you open Outlook 2010.  This time it's asking for a login even after I installed the SP and Rollups and I can't
figure out why?
They have no save credentials in Their User profiles.  They have basic Auth and On Slow use Http checked in their RPC settings. Any ideas

Hi,
Would you please let me know whether both local and Outlook Anywhere clients encounter this same issue? Did you
check whether OWA clients were affected?
As Robert suggested, did you monitor the result when enter a password? Please refer to Robert’s suggestion and
check if can help you to solve this issue.
Meanwhile, please refer to following similar thread and check if can help you.
SBS
2011\ Exchange 2010\ Outlook 2010 continually prompting for username and password
If this issue still exist, did you check event logs and find any relevant clues?
If any update, please feel free to let us know.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Justin Gu

  • Outlook 2011 for MAC keeps asking for password

Outlook for MAC 2011 keeps asking me for google password.  It wont accept what i put in.  The password is correct along with name because it works when I enter it in google.  I recently updated password.
Need help in fixing or finding problem.
Error message:  Mail could not be received at this time.
The server for account Gmail returned the error (authentification failed) invalid credentials.
Failure:  You username/password or security settings may be incorrect.
But they are correct as I can logon to Google without problem.
Could it have anything to due with two stage security in google?

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for this-yes, eventually, I do send/receive fine, once I've poppedd my passwords in.
I think you are right in that BT seem to be having unique server/login issues...at least this is what I've read elsewhere too.
Iroonically, this AM I opened my new Mac and have *not* been asked for passwords so perhaps the changes I made in the settings yesterday (keychain reset in Mac) and also changing it from smtp.....to mail.btinternet.com solved the issue...who knows? All I know is this last week I've nearly lost the will to live on more than one occasion, from the transition from PC Windows Live Mail to Outlook for Mac.

  • Outlook 2013 keep asking for password

    Hi,

     - I have tried this
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290684
Only happening on Office 2013 not office 2007
One thing I did notices when I was debugging the problem.
When I removed the office and reinstalled the problem went away for
whole 1 week but then on Monday it start asking for password again which
makes be thing that they is something in group policy which is causing
    this.
    We are using
     - Windows 7
     - Office 365 (2013)
     - Our emails are being hosted by Microsoft clod
I don't know what else to try or check.

    Hi,
Does this issue happen to all clients or a special one?
Please first check if Logon network security under More Settings on the Microsoft Exchange
Security tab is set to a value other than Anonymous Authentication.
In addition, you may also follow this article to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Outlook 2007 and 2010 on Windows XP keeps asking for password

I have a fresh installation of Exchange 2013 installed on Windows 2012 and the problem is that Outlook 2007 and 2010 which is installed on Windows XP keeps asking for password.
The problem occurs only on Windows XP while on Windows 7 is working fine.
    Any help will be appreciated!

    Hello
I had similar issue in my environment  -Exchange 2010 SP2 UR4-v2 ,DAG 2 MBX servers(MBX1 and MBX2) in production site ,2 CAS in production site ,17 mail box databases , Public folder replicated to all the mailbox servers.
strangely users using outlook 2003 and outlook 2007 were being prompted for user name passwords.
    investigations were done as follows
    1. test connection status -click on the outlook icon in the lower right of the users desktop.clicked on test connection status ..
    2. found that the username was being prompted while attempting to connect to the public folder in MBX1 server.
    3. using EMC on the exchange server, changed databases pointing to public folder in MBX1 to public folder in MBX2.  This solved the issue for us.however we were not sure of what the exact issue was ..was it public folder corruption in MBX1? .we found
that the users were being prompted for username and password only in outlook 2007 and not in OWA or outlook 2010. this made us rule out possibility of Public folder corruption in MBX1 server.
4.raised a case with microsoft to do a RCA (root cause analysis) . The resolution from them was to change the exchange RPC service on MBX1 from "network service" to  "local account" and switch back to "network service".
The reason stated by microsoft is "password cache corruption" .Any ways the problem was solved at the server level.
Hope this helps all of you who have been scratching your head over this issue

  • Outlook for Mac 2011 repeatedly asks for password to my BlueHost email.  Outlook says the password is incorrect, but the password is never changed.

We are using Outlook 2011 for Mac on OS X Version 10.8.8.  We have IMAP email service through BlueHost.  Just about everyday, Outlook says that the BlueHost password is incorrect and asks if we would like to re-enter it.  When this started, we would enter the password and ask that the password be saved in Keychain.  But this question keeps popping up just about everyday.  How do we get Outlook to keep this password permanently so we are not prompted for the password anymore?

    One thing to check.
Password – Mail keeps asking for Password
Try running Keychain First Aid and resetting the original keychain.

  • Outlook for Mac asking for password everyday

    Hello,
We use Outlook for Mac 2011 on OS X Version 10.8.5.  Everyday, Outlook asks for the password to 4 Bluehost email accounts associated with that Mac.  When prompted for the password, we make sure that the box to save the password in Keychain is checked.  But we are still prompted for the password everyday.  We've even tried to disable App Nap, but we do not have that option.  Is there any other way to save passwords once and for all?
    Thank you.

Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access. Delete the password from there, then try again. While in Keychain Access, Keychain Access menu/First Aid.

I cannot get yahoo mail nor send email on iPad 3.  I have OS 6 just upgraded.  It keeps on asking for password.  I think my yahoo email was also hacked to compound the problem.  Please help.

I get this warning now To. Never saw it in last 5 years and 4 iPhones. Cannot get yahoo small biz email access anymore via iPhone on safari web login because of this same warning. Typically , either yahoo or apple screwed up and changed something that effects millions and think nothing of it. (battery gate in all the iPhone 4/4s comes to mind here)
As you can tell I "used" to be an apple fan but after this iPhone 4s dies (prematureally of course) I will be getting my first android phone and see flash and the rest of the hidden Internet that apple kept from myself the paying customer.

  • Firefox keeps asking for password when I send emails

Firefox version 35.0. When I open Firefox and get messages, no problems. When I write an email and send, Firefox asks me for password. I am able to send/receive emails while open. If I close Firefox and open, it asks for password when I send. Months ago, I changed my login password to Netzero.com (made it more secure). Since then, I've had this annoying password request. How to satisfy the login server password for receiving/sending emails?

Is it Firefox asking for the password, or the web site? The only time that
FF will ask for a password is if you have the '''Master Password''' active
    in the '''Password Manager.'''
Open the '''Password Manager.''' There is a search bar at the top of the
page. Enter the name of the site. Press the button '''Show Passwords.'''
Is the information correct? '''Note:''' there may be more then one entry.
'''Left''' click the icon in the address bar. A window for displaying site information should come up. Select '''More Information.''' At the top of the window, select '''Security.''' Now select '''View Saved Passwords.'''

  • Finder keeps asking for password verification

Finder keeps asking for password verification when I ask to move or delete a file.
How can I stop this from happening?
    Thanks in advance.

Repairing the permissions of a home folder in Lion is a complicated procedure. I don’t know of a simpler one that always works.
Launch the Terminal application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. If that doesn’t work, then in the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Drag or copy – do not type – the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    chmod -R -N ~
You may see a few error messages about an “invalid argument” while the command is running. You can ignore those. If you get an error message with the words “Permission denied,” enter this:
    sudo !!
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
Next, boot from your recovery partition by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the recovery desktop appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, enter “resetpassword” (without the quotes) and press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

    And ...
About passwords in Mac OS X
Mac OS X is designed to give you the safest and most secure computing environment available. The best thing you can do to keep the information on your computer secure is to choose a good password for your user account.
There are four main types of passwords in Mac OS X:
    • User account passwords allow users to log in to their home folders. This is often referred to as a "login password."
    • Administrator passwords are required to perform many tasks on the computer, including setting system preferences, installing software, and administering user accounts. An administrator password is an administrator user's login password.
    • The master password is a computer-wide password set up by an administrator as a safeguard in case the administrator forgets his or her login password. The master password is usually used in conjunction with FileVault, a way of encrypting a user's home folder so it can't be seen by anyone but that user. If a FileVault user forgets his or her login password, even an administrator can't log in to the user's account with an administrator password. Only the master password can override a FileVault user's password.
    • Your keychain stores your passwords for various applications and resources on the computer, and your keychain password "unlocks" the keychain so the passwords inside it can be used. Your keychain password is the same as your login password when your account is first set up.
You'll also need passwords to access servers, secure websites, shared folders, password-protected documents, and more. You can use your keychain to store these passwords so you don't have to remember all of them.
You can create additional keychains with passwords that are different from your login keychain and login password. If you forget the password to these keychains, neither you nor an administrator will be able to access them.
If you are in a secure environment where smart cards are required, you will be asked to insert your card and enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN) instead of a password.
You can use Password Assistant to help you choose a new password. Click the key button to the right of the Password field to see how secure your new password is.
    Hope this helps.
    Carolyn

  • Startup asking for password never asked before

Why would my imac ask me for a password, never did before. At startup shows my pitcher  and below to login. On bottom center of window has shutdown, restart etc...the backround looks like the mission controll backround color silver or grey, I have my computer set not to ask for password.

Open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences and turn automatic login off and back on. Also ensure it's not disabled in the Security pane and that FileVault isn't enabled for your account.
