Outlook categories and sort by company

Hello and apologies. Perhaps my questions was already posted but I didn't find entries (used the search though).
(When) will iTunes sync the outlook categories to iPhone/iPod? I heavily used this feature on the win mobile device.
Also, is it possible to sort and list contacts by company (grouped by it)? That's standard on windows devices.
Thanks for answers....

I have noticed something useful when entering contacts directly into my iPhone. When entering a contact that I want shown in the list by the company name, I enter the company name first (without entering the "first name" and "last name") and save it. If you do it that way, the little square where the photo would be will change from the blank head to some buildings, and the contact will be listed by the company name. You can then go back and edit to add a first and last name and it will stay listed by company name.
However, if you enter the last name, first name, and company name all at the same time it will list the entry by the "last name" instead of by the company.
For example, if I want my son's doctor's office to display as "Arizona Pediatrics" instead of "Dr. John Smith" in the contact list, I would enter the Arizona Pediatrics first, save, and then go back in and add the Dr. John Smith in the last name, first name fields.
I need to check the manual to see if this is detailed, as I stumbled on it accidentaly, but it's pretty useful.

  • Contacts Display and Sort by Company Name

I have over 1000 contacts in Outlook which synced wonderfully with my new iPhone.
Alas, I need to lookup and sort by Company Name. This is a VERY standard method for contacts. The options presented by iphone are first and last name, sigh and tech support had no suggestions and the helpful tech support genttleman could find no 3rd party applications which could help.
    Help!
I relly like my iPhone, but I need to be able to look up contacts and notes by company.
    Thanks

  • Outlook Categories and Colors for Email and Calendar on iPhone

I was hoping that the iPhone would retain my Outlook categories and category rules. For example, when new emails come into my Outlook Inbox, they get categorized based upon the sender of the email. Does iPhone respect Outlook categories? Also, when I put meeting requests on my Outlook Calendar, they are color coded based upon those same categories. Customer A gets Blue, customer B gets Orange, etc. Is the color supposed to be retained when I look at my Outlook Calendar on my iPhone?
    Thanks

Are these rules applied on an Exchange Server or locally on the computer?
If they are local on the computer, then any rules your have in Outlook will not pass over to the iPhone.
Any rules on the Exchange Server would happen on the server side and the iPhone would mirror what is on the server.
If you are not using an Exchange server and you want the same folder information from your computer to show on the iPhone, then you can use either an IMAP email account or MobileMe service.

  • Outlook categories and colors over push sync with exchange server

    Hello,
in which way can i get the outlook categories, colors and privacy flag from my company outlook over the exchange push sync to my iphone?
Currently I'm using an PDA to transport my calendar and tasks. But with our new
iphones I wan't to have only one device for all.
Is there a chance to me to get this szenario work?
    Yours Rüdiger

You cannot, until Apple modifies the iPhone OS so it can handle those flags.

  • Burning a MP3 CD with styles categorized and sorted into folders...

Hi there, my name is joey mason.
    I am a Professional DJ.
My problem is that i like to sort my my onw gnres out and on a CD to burn folders to differentiate my styles on the CD.
Eg. CD has one folder breakbeat, one house, one techno ect.
Problem is in I-tunes i have to sort genres out in their associated columb, then make a playlist for that associated genre, but...
I-tunes wont let me burn multiple playlists to an MP3 CD.
It only lets you burn one playlist at t a time to a MP3 CD.
Is there a way i can burn multiple playlists to a MP3 CD?
I want this multiple folder and or Playlists MP3 CD so i can DJ with it on Pioneer CDJ's and have different styles avail to me...
Please reply with a solution to [email protected],
    Thank You Joey Mason

I selected all the songs in 1 playlist and hit get info and then I changed the album to Matthew. Should I do the same for the rest of the NT books?
    Yes.
All the files for Matthew should now be under the album Matthew.
An easier way to manage it all would be to convert all files for one book into one large file.
Rather than having 27 files for Matthew, you would have a single file with album name Matthew.
    See this -> Join Together
"Join Together automates the process of joining the files of selected iTunes tracks together with QuickTime and exporting them as a single AAC Music or Audiobook file/track. Optionally, you can then create a "chapterized" audio file of the exported AAC file with pointers to the individually joined tracks."

  • How to enable categories in iCloud Outlook contacts and search option to include contacts notes?

So, I've seen various threads about iCloud not supporting categories as we know them in Outlook.  Categories are kept in iCloud contacts (in Outlook) but they just don't work as they did when contacts where in Outlook's PST folder.  I haven't seen that someone has found a solution to work this out without having to create groups one by one.  The other problem though is that when I search iCloud contacts in Outlook, I type in a keyword and the contact with the supposed keyword in its categories does not display if the contact has more than one categories linked to it.  Prior to iCloud I was able to pull up contacts by typing in a word in the search bar.  For instance, I'd type in a keyword of one my categories and Outlook would display all contacts that contained the word I searched (be it if the contact contained the keyword in its contact fields, categories, or notes).  Now, when I search a keyword, iCloud does not pull up the contact(s) with the specific word  if the contact has more than one categories linked to it.  It also appears that iCloud contacts in Outlook does not search keywords that are in the contacts' notes.  Does anyone know how to get these features to work?  I basically need iCloud contacts to be able to search contacts  along with their categories and their notes and display all contacts that contain the word I typed in the search bar.

  • Outlook 2007 and iPhone 3GS contact sorting

I have done a search and found lots of good information on this topic, yet have not been able to find out if what I am wanting is possible. Probably my misunderstanding of some of the terminology, so I thought I would start my own thread.
I have Outlook 2007 on my Windows XP notebook and use it to sync my iPhone 3GS through iTunes 9.0. There are 425 contacts, both business and personal, on my phone and in Outlook and everything works beautifully. Yesterday I was asked for the name of a rep for a certain product we sell and I could not remember his name and really did not want to search through all my contacts to find his information. What I would like to do is to be able to seperate, or group, certain contacts within my Outlook and iPhone. For instance I would have "all contacts" and then maybe under that "factory reps", "bank reps" and so on. Is there a way for this to be done that does not put duplicate contacts on my phone and lets me have all my contacts listed, yet be able to go back and sort through them based on groups as well?
Thank you for any help regarding this and I apologize if this topic has been covered, once again I think I may be seeing the answer, just not understanding the terminology or setup.

    san someone help me? thanks

  • About using categories and perspectives for new user

We are just beginning a conversion and upgrade project to convert our Web site to Oracle Portal. I'm trying to get a good handle on some different things we need to resolve as part of the project. One of the first decisions is using Categories and Perspectives.
I'd like to ask users about how they have used categories and perspectives and some real-world examples of how these work and improve the site and user experience.
    About us
We're a big nonprofit river authority and wholesale electric provider in Austin, Texas. Currently, we offer very limited online transaction capabilities. However, we are diverse organization and users come to us looking for every specific information, so these elements may be very helpful. I'm evaluating how we can use these and other elements to make recommendations. Some real-world examples and best practices would help a lot.
    Thank you, Charles Boisseau

    Continuing the thread...
Perspectives and categories may be leveraged in custom search portlets, so that you can enter the content one time, in one place, and have selected content display in multiple places.
Re: our "news" concept: our central communications group posts news stories tagged with one or more perspectives, such as which school is related to the story. This allows us to keep all of our news stories in one page group, but reuse the content elsewhere. For example, for the School of Nursing intranet, we can use a custom search portlet that automatically displays only that school's stories.
You'll want to do some up-front planning regarding your classification scheme. One significant limitation of both categories and perspectives is the inability to change the hierarchy. Oracle Portal product team, if you're reading this, this is a serious pain! I might also recommend leaving your classification scheme relatively flat. Tagging content with perspectives becomes more difficult if the content contributor has to visually traverse a deep hierarchy of perspectives.
Categories work similarly, but we mainly use them to visually sort items on a page using the "Group By" feature of a region.
Hope this gets some gears turning.

  • Problems with a shared calendar using Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2010

    Hello all,
We are having a problem with sharing a calendar using Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2010.
I will start with some background. I have just started my position with this company. I have been working with networks for awhile at the small business level. I have not had much production experience with exchange. There is only myself and my supervisor
who has inherited a midsized network which was built by five previous techs that are no longer with the company. Of course, the previous techs did not leave much documentation, so the original hows and whys for our system setup has been lost.
One of the managers has a calendar she shares with some of our users. I believe this calendar has been in use since sometime in 2006. A mailbox was created to hold this calendar to keep it separate from the managers calendar. I am not sure what version
of exchange they were using at that time, but I assume there was one or two migrations of it getting to its current state on our exchange 2010 server. At some point it was observed that the other workers she was sharing with were not able to access it correctly.
I am not fully sure what the original problem was (possibly some people not being able to see or connect to the calendar), but it was decided to give everyone who needed access to this calendar full access permissions through exchange. Correct me if I
am wrong, but I believe that gave everyone connected the ability to do anything with the calendar. Of course the manager was not happy about that. This is where I started working on the problem.
I removed everyone, except the manager who wants to control the calendar, from having "Full Access Permissions". This did have the effect of making some people just able to see the calendar and not make changes. Though there were others that were
able to connect to the calendar who I thought would not be able to. The manager that originally created the calendar did try to manage access to it through the Outlook interface, though it currently does not seem to be fully in effect.
So, to get to the point of what we are trying to do, is there a way to get the original manager back into control of the calendar though Outlook? It would be preferred to be able to keep the history of what they tracked of this calendar, so starting a new
one would be something we would rather avoid. After that, getting all of the users that need to connect to the calendar reconnected with the correct access permissions and making sure they are all synchronized.
I realize this is a big mess, and your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Nigel,
How is the impact, just one user or all users, Outlook or OWA?
If just one user, it seems like an issue on the Outlook Client side.
Please trying to re-create new profile to fresh the caches.
Please runing Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs, add-ins and firewall.

  • Problems with Outlook 2007 and icloud v2.1.1

    Hi
I'm a plumber and sparky in the UK and I have been a user of Mobile me for a number of years to sync my Iphone diary with my Outlook 2007 diary since the days when i had an IPhone 3. Effectively this allows me to be updated with new or cancelled appointments whilst i'm out and about working and when i finish a job i update my iphone diary which in turn updates my outlook diary and my wife, who runs the office, can then invoice based on what i have updated. All worked well until recently. Then along came Icloud and mobile me was no more. The first version of Icloud control panel worked just the same as Mobileme control panel and we had no problems then version 2.1.1 came out and suddenly strange things started to happen. Firstly the curser would not highlight, on Outlook, any details to allow us to format or copy text. Then the notes section would no longer print if these notes were updated or changed on the pc although they would if they were updated on the iphone.
I contacted Microsoft about the issue and was told that as my software was more than 90 day old i would have to pay for suppor so i declined their kind offer and then called Apple where i spoke with a very nice support lady who had never encountered this problem before. I told her that i had tried all the usual things like "repair " the Outlook installation and  deleting bits from the registry file, a forum had what to do, but still the problem persisted. She then told me that i should uninstall Icloud Control panel and then re-install it which i did and bingo suddenly it appeared to work correctly however when i merged the icloud diary with the diary on my pc the problem came back.
The reason i'm writing this is to say that i managed to find the first version of Icloud control panel in my download folder so i unistalled version 2.1.1 and installed version 1.0.0 and my system is back up and running correctly.  so if you're haveing a similar problem go back to an earlier version of the control panel, when it did work, and you should be ok. For the apple people who read through these posting please sort this bug out before the next update as if the problem returns when i do an update in a few months time i may well scream.
I run Outlook 2007 on a windown 7 PC that's a good 3 years old. My Iphone is an Iphone 4 running iOS5
    regards
    David Llewellyn.

We are trying to roll out outlook 2007 together with outlook connector 7.2u1 at patch level 125361-03. Installation goes ok. But we have a major problem with Calendars.
Having used Sun Mail & Calendar for years our users subscribe to a number of calendars, these show up in outlook in the left hand pane and are selectable to view, which syncs the calendar into outlook - all well and good.
Now the major problem, when syncing another persons calendar to view availability etc, all the reminders get sent to the user viewing the calendar as well as going to the owner - where we have users that subscribe to around 20-30 calendars thats alot of other peoples reminders that pop up on the screen !This is a known issue - bug #6603810 - "Outlook Connector shows popup reminders in Outlook 2007 for Subscribed Calendars - need to turn off".
Outlook 2007 supports reminders in non-default calendars which is why you are now seeing this issue and not with say Outlook 2003.
The bug is fixed in patch 125361-05 - you must log a sun support request to get a copy of the patch.

  • IOS changes contact from sorted by company to first name when edit is hit

Can anyone tell me how to stop iOS from changing to sort by name when edit is hit?
Scenario:  Contact has first name, last name and company.  In OSX I hit edit and check the company box.  The contact now sorts by company name.  I then go into iOS to that same contact and hit edit and then done.  The contact now sorts by name and there is no way to undo this that I can find in iOS.  There is no company check box and iOS defaults to sort by name automatically.  Which means that any information I edit on my iphone or ipad will get miscatagorized by simply tapping the edit key.
    Help!!!

I would ask, why are you going into the same contact in iOS if you have already edited it in OS X? But then, I digress.
True, there is only two settings for sorting contacts in iOS, Last Name or First name. The same as display. When you have a name and Company, it will only sort by name.
You can provide feedback to Apple if you would like to see this feature change by going to www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link.

  • Outlook categories

Has Apple solved the problem of syncing outlook categories with multiple devices both PC's and Macs.
It use to be that Icloud did not retain the category assignments made in Outlook on PC. Syncing would often times loose all category assignments wether it be contacts, calendar or tasks. I need to syncing both ways from Outlook on PC, Macbook pro, Iphone, Ipad and Mac Pro computer. Why has this been such a challenge?

I agree. It is Ridiculous in my opinion. There is a third party I tried it. Didn't work for me because they wanted me to sync my contacts on their cloud. It doesn't work with USB Sync. But if you want to try it here:

  • Better Contacts Manager app, sort by company?

I am a sole proprietor (not needing a shared database) looking for a basic Contacts Manager app (for OSX primarily) that allows contacts to be organized by company. Also, for new contacts at any organization to be added without having to manually key in all common data for each new contact. (both the preceding are not features offered in current Apple Contacts) The ability to generate a CSV database is important.
Apple Contacts requires that all fields for new contacts be entered manually, no simple copy/paste feature for adding new contacts within the same company. Yes, I have found awkward work-arounds that don't really work. Most personal contact manager apps seem to be written for IOS and those for OSX are often complex & expensive (many require a monthly subscription). Many apps listed on review sites are no longer developed, or still in beta.
The desired features above would seem to be a no-brainer, but I have spent hours fruitlessly seeking a simple workable solution.
    thanks in advance

Contacts will sort by company if the Company checkbox is checked in the card.
To add multiple contacts to the same company I just duplicate a card from the company and edit the name, telephone number and email as needed.
To get just the companies to display create a Group, Businesses or Companies, and add all company cards to it.  Click on the group and you have only the cards you want.

  • Outlook 2013 People - Edit Name/Company Displayed at Very Top of Each Contact Box

When pulling Contact info into Word from Outlook 2013 Address Book to insert in an envelope, the contact name, an actual hyphen, and then the company name are pulled in on the same row.  AddressLayout is correct in Word.  I believe
this is an Outlook problem, because when I view Address Book in Outlook, under the Column headed NAME, the contact's name appears then a hyphen and then the company name.  Also, when I bring up a single contact, at the very top of that contact's box,
the name appears, then a hyphen, then the company name.  This is a problem on one of our partner's PC.  He doesn't want to edit the envelope.  He wants the problem to be fixed.  Any ideas on how this can be corrected?
