Outlook Delegate via Powershell (Exchange Online)
I'm trying to set a delegate for a mailbox via powershell in Exchange Online (Office 365), but the delegated user does not receive the "Meeting Accepted" messages. I've tested it with my account, and I don't get the meeting accept
messages.
I've read that the ResourceDelegates parameter for Get-CalendarProcessing is only for resource mailboxes, yet when I set the delegate as Editor on the Calendar and give
them GrantSendonBehalfTo, it updates the ResourceDelegates to that user.
All of that aside, the fact that I got this to work before but I can't now is driving me absolutely insane. I know that you can set the delegate within Outlook, and then set it to forward the meeting messages to the delegate, but I can't seem to get it to work
via powershell. Help?
Hi,
As Ed suggested, actually, we have a dedicated support team regarding the Microsoft Office 365. I recommend you ask your question on our Office 365 forum which is staffed by more experts specializing in this kind of problems. Thanks for your understanding.
If you have any problem with Exchange server, welcome to our Exchange server forum.
Hope it helps.

FYI: Confirmed flaw with Outlook Auto-Complete lists w/Exchange Online
Ever since our organization migrated to Exchange Online we noticed a flaw with how Outlook's Auto Complete list (nickname cache) operates. We've finally gotten a confirmation from Microsoft that the following is indeed a problem:
Each entry in a user's local Outlook auto-complete cache is represented by an LDAP distinguished name.
When Exchange is hosted on-premises these entries pretty much never change.
When your organization is hosted on Exchange Online, the distinguished names for your mailboxes can change without notice due to maintenance processes (Microsoft's engineers have confirmed this to be true).
There are other ways that a mailbox's distinguished name can change (re-creating a mailbox, etc.)
Outlook's local auto-complete cache has no way (currently) to reconcile changes should any of its entries' distinguished names change in the cloud.
When the entries in the local auto-complete cache become "stale" the following may happen:
Emails to affected recipients can bounce back.
Emails to distribution groups containing members which have stale auto-complete entries can bounce back.
On occasion no NDR is even generated (BIG PROBLEM).
As noted above, we've gotten Microsoft to admit that this is indeed a problem with Outlook when combined with Exchange Online. I was told that the Outlook product team has been notified of this problem. However, in order to escalate this issue I was
asked to spread the word to other customers so they can also chime in if they've been affected.
Please supply your feedback to Microsoft and ask that Outlook be enhanced to either reconcile the local auto-complete list with the online GAL, or provide some sort of notification to the user that an auto-complete entry has become "stale" or invalid.
Thanks for everyone's time!Hi,
There is nothing called as Outlook's local nick-name cache. This resides on the mailbox and not outlook and supports only 1000 entries only. If the entries exceeds 1000 it will not function correctly.
After the .nk2 file has been imported into your mailbox, Outlook writes a value into a hidden message in your mailbox.
To locate this property in MFCMAPI, open the
Associated Contents table of the Contacts folder. Then, select the message with
Subject = IPM.Configuration.ContactPrefs.
Then, double-click the PR_ROAMING_DICTIONARY property to see the configuration setting nickname cache import. The value to examine is
pImportedContactNickNames (True = the import has already occurred).
Since you are facing issues at this point of time, it needs to be corrected. I would appreciate if you can open phone support case with O 365 team and ask them to escalate to Exchange Level , we should be able to work with
you and correct the issue
Hope this helps

Exchange online and Exchange 2010 on-premise calendar availability
I am running a hybrid exchange 2010 on-premise and online exchange environment. The online exchange users cannot see calendar availability of anybody on premise. The on-premise users can see the online exchange availability. I can see the
calendar if the calendar is shared, but trying to setup a meeting or calendar appointment still shows the unavailable through all days.
All of the users are using office 365 for outlook on premise and exchange online. If it is only working one way, could it be an autodiscover issue where it is not configured correctly on our on-premise exchange 2010 or online exchange? Which
side would be causing the issue?I have done a little more research and ran the following in powershell:

Dear All,
We are using Microsoft Exchange Online (Microsoft Hosted Solution for Exchange – Office 365) for sending and receiving emails. Now we want to setup SAP SMTP so that emails / notifications can be sending through SAP via Microsoft Exchange Online. Exchange Online Plan 1 use with Office Home and Business 2013 License
Question: Does the Office Home & Business 2013 Outlook work properly with Exchange Online Plan 1? (are there limitations?)
As a farm dealership needing 44 licenses (very light Office product use except email), I'm struggling with the sustaining cost of Office365 Bus Prem. I've pretty much settled on buying Outlook 2013 instead of any subscription models. Office Home
and Business list price is $219 making a one time purchase cost $9639. I can do that once. (O365BP is $7,920 annual). Outlook 2013 stand-a-lone will run me around $3500 once plus $2112 annual. I'd really like the full office package. I wish
the pricing worked out better for rural, light use businesses.Hi GHopf,
Great advice from scottylat2486.

Delegate calendars from exchange in Calendar
Dear All,
I'm having this strange issue since upgrading to Mountain Lion. I see all calendars from my delegates (via an exchange server) in my calendar screen. I can unselect my own calendar in the menu and my appointements would disapear, but I can't unselect all my delegates calendars - all of their appointements are permanently visible. With 8 calendars permanently visible - I can't see my own appointements.
The interesting thing is, these get only updated when I open a delegate's calendar via "Window - name of delegate". A second window pops-up with that calendar only, and the data is added to my main screen. Drives me crazy - this used to work perfectly under Lion.
The Apple support desks claims it's normal...
Anybody here has the same issue?
Thanks!Hi All,
This solved my issue (and maybe yours).
Went to calendar preferences, Accounts, selected the exchange account, hit the tab "delegation" and selected show for all of them.
Even though they were all showing already, I now could unselect them in the "calendar list" and they would disapear.
Hope this makes sense.
Yeay...

I posted this in another forum (office 365) and was told to copy it here as it wasn't an office 365 issue so here is what I posted there:
===================================
Let me see if I can clarify better. This issue has been ongoing as long as I have worked for this client (I started in January but have been told the issue has been going on since before November of last year). The client has multiple construction sites
and its headquarters. There is a remote desktop server setup with a public IP address for the users "in the field" for accessing network resources at headquarters. At major construction sites (currently 3) they have high speed internet service installed
since the projects typically are 1+ years to complete. So at current times we have the following:
Main office:
Remote Desktop Server with logins for all employees
Main 2012R2 server
50MB/s internet connection via CenturyLink ISP
Site 1:
3 main users of computers. 1 constant user, 2 minimal use users. All 3 have experience the issue 3+ times a week
Comcast 50MB/S ISP
Site 2:
3 Main users of computers. 1 constant, 2 medium use users. All 3 experience the issue 3+ times a week
Comcast 50MB/s ISP
Site 3:
4+ computer users. 1 constant, 2 medium use users and the rest check email couple times a day. They also experience the disconnect issue 3+ times a week
15 MB/S DSL from CenturyLink ISP
There have been instances where (as examples) user 1a called me to tell me it was happening. Users 1b and 1c were not experiencing the issue. I was able to use a remote tool called Teamviewer to connect to her computer. Once connected I tried to open OWA
but it would not connect. I tried to ping the site and could not get a response. To verify I remoted into user 1b computer and his outlook was still connected and pinged fine. Both users being at the same site are on the same network. Had user 1a remote desktop
into the RDserver at the main office. Remoted into the server at the office her outlook on that machine connected no issues (in my mind rules out account issue?).
I don't believe it is network related due to the other computers working fine and being able to connect to her computer indicated to me that her NIC was fine. I don't think it was her account because it worked fine from the RD Server plus email service to
iPads/iPhones continue to work without issue. Once the computer is rebooted everything works fine for a while (could be hours, could be days).
Now to answer the questions for you:
1. it happens to all computers not at the main office but happens at random times to them. It also does not affect every computer at a remote location. It could be 1 or it could be multiple computers at the same time.
2. Affected users iPhones, iPads and outlook 2013 pro session on the RD Server at the main office continue to work no issues.
3. They cannot get to OWA on their machines when in that state, however can log into OWA on another machine plus the answer to #2 above.
4. It is all users at those locations, however I have experienced it myself at my house 1 time since January (I have a different exchange online plan/company than the one I am discussing in this post). The issue is random and it is uncertain if it will correct
itself if left sitting long enough (longest time it has been left is about 20 minutes or so) however even 20 minutes is a long time to wait for the service to return so users just reboot.
Please let me know If you have any solutions/ideas.
Thanks,
Brandon Smith

Hi Branon,
Thanks for your detailed information.
After going your post carefully, I am impressed by your strong technical skills. Regarding “I don't believe it is network related due to the other computers working fine and being able to connect to her computer indicated to me that her NIC was
fine. I don't think it was her account because it worked fine from the RD Server plus email service to iPads/iPhones continue to work without issue. Once the computer is rebooted everything works fine for a while (could be hours, could be days)” ,
I go along with you. Since the affected account could connect to other clients without issue , it indicates Office 365 account is no problem. And other computer were working fine and can connect to her computer, it shows the network environment does not cause
the issue. In this situation, the issue should relate to the specific Outlook Client. However this forum mainly focuses on Office 365 online services, to get more accurate responses, it’s suggested that you raise the problem in the Outlook forum. If they got
any result and you need further assistance from Office 365 side, please feel free to let us know.
In addition, about “I have had the users try to use OWA when it gets disconnected but they cannot get to that URL either. IE comes up with page not found”, I’d like to collect some information:
1. Does the issue only happen to IE? Have you tried logging in other browsers using the OWA address (like Chrome or Firefox)? Does it work?
2. Does only this user have the issue? Does it happen to other users?
3. Which version of Internet Explorer browser does the user use?
4. Could you provide us with the whole screenshot of the error message? You can post screenshots in our forum by clicking Use rich formatting and selecting the Insert Image icon.
Also, please try the following steps for troubleshooting:
a. Clear the IE caches and cookies when you log into Office 365 again.
b. Use the InPrivate Browsing of Internet Explorer to login.
c. Reset Internet Explorer’s settings, and try again.
d. Try to login in another network environment.
If there is any update, please let us know. I ’ll keep on monitoring this thread.
Best regards,
Jamie
===============================
As of today we still randomly experience this disconnect issue. Just today I had my test user call me to say she was disconnected. She is in location 2 where I have a test laptop also setup with her logged in. When she called I had her check the test laptop
and the outlook profile on that machine (same network) was still connected while her computer was not connected. I had her run the online analyzer tool on her machine (the one that would not connect) which ran for almost 2 hours. The tool finished right at
the same time that her outlook finally connected back to the server.
If anyone has any ideas/solutions please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Brandon Smith
Cadence Communications Inc.Oddly enough my computer is right at this moment in this same disconnected state. Outlook shows an exclamation point in a yellow triangle. Its state is disconnected. If I go to portal.office.com I get to the login page but get page can't be displayed after
entering my credentials. I tried using google and found this for login
https://outlook.office365.com/owa/ it too times out and can't be displayed.
if I try and ping these sites I get:

Can you add delegate access to a user's calendar or mailbox folder via powershell?
Basically I want to know if you can grant a user delegate access to another user's calendar or meeting room using native powershell commands?
I know you can do this via method 1, listed below, however when you grant permissions in this way and if a user wants to see who has delegate access to their calendar or inbox by going to delegate access in outlook they will not see user's who have access
to their calendar or inbox.
Method 1:
Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity "userA:\Calendar" -User UserB -AccessRights editor
The above is a nice and simple way of granting userB EDITOR access to UserA's calendar.
But as stated above as you are using mailboxFolderPermissions and not DelegateAccess, this applies directly to this folder and if userA goes to their delegate access view in Outlook, they will not see that userB has access to their calendar.
I know that you can use the below commands to see a list of user's who have delegate access to you calendar:
Get-Mailbox userA | Get-CalendarProcessing | select resourcedelegates
I am new to powershell and don't know if there is a way of setting delegate access to a user's calendar or inbox/folder via powershell commands, similar to the above.
Any help with this query would be much appreciated!
thanksDelegate access is simply a combination of folder rights (which you've described) and Send As right, which is conferred by Add-MailboxPermission or Send On Behalf of right, which I'm not sure if you can confer with PowerShell. Set-CalendarProesssing applies
to resource mailboxes like conference rooms, not to user mailboxes.
Update: "Send on Behalf of" is conferred this way:
Set-Mailbox UserMailbox -GrantSendOnBehalfTo UserWhoSends

Hello Everyone,
I'm working on trying to create something like a knowledge base for my company, and what I'm trying to accomplish is to create a shared mailbox on 365, add users to have read-only rights to the Inbox (which I can achieve via PowerShell) so they can't delete
the articles, but it seems that by just adding Reviewer permission to a user, it doesn't force the mailbox to open on the end-user's Outlook profile - it only seems to automatically populate if I go through the exchange admin console and allow Full Access
through User Delegation.
Is there a way, via PowerShell, to open a shared mailbox in a user's Outlook profile?
Thanks for all the help!Hi,
We can create a PRF file that modifies the existing Outlook profile to add the shared mailbox.
Please have a look at this thread which discussed a similar issue:

Connect Office 365 Exchange Online through Powershell
I am trying to perform some operations on Exchange online(Office 365) through powershell.
First I created a new powershell session and exported the modules to local as "o365", so that on any later operation I no need to use Import-PsSession to download the required modules
$cred = Get-Credential
$s = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName "Microsoft.Exchange" -ConnectionUri "https://ps.outlook.com/powershell/" -Credential $cred -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection
Export-PsSession -session $s -outputModule o365
Now, I am creating new session and importing the existing module "o365".
$cred = Get-Credential
$s = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName "Microsoft.Exchange" -ConnectionUri "https://ps.outlook.com/powershell/" -Credential $cred -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection
Import-Module o365
Get-DistributionGroup
While running the command "Get-DistributionGroup", powershell prompts me to enter the office 365 credentials once again. Is it possible to avoid entering the credentials once again? I don't want to use Import-PsSession, since it takes more time.Hi,
Not sure, if the following cmdlets can make a difference. Anyway, suggest you to try these:
$UserCredential = Get-Credential
$Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://outlook.office365.com/powershell-liveid/ -Credential $UserCredential -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection
Import-PSSession $SessionGet-DistributionGroup

Exchange Online without configuration outlook.
Hello.
I’ve tested Exchange Online Plan1 by trial version now.
I saw your article of the migration Exchange Server 2003 to Office365.
My goal is using exchange online without setting on user computers.
Because many user are in different place. So I couldn’t make it all of them.
And it could be taken time a lot. That’s why I don’t want configuration of the outlook.
But I’m not sure it is possible. Please let me know my big question.
My Exchange Online Migration Plan.
Stop our Exchange Server 2003.
Make contract with Microsoft for Exchange Online Plan1
Register our domain on the Exchange Online.
Make all of the users at Exchange Online without migration function.
Reconfiguration passwords of the users by powershell.
Using outlook 2007 without reconfiguration.
If I use Exchange Server 2013, it is possible to use outlook 2007 without configuration
Thank you.Hi,

Fetching of attached files delayed, minutes-hours in Outlook 2011 for Mac from Exchange online
Hi,
I have an annoying problem I would be grateful if someone could solve.
I run Outlook 2011 for Mac which is synced towards Microsoft Exchange online. Everything works well except when there are attached files in incoming emails. Sometimes it can take up to hours before an attached file is available (the email as such is
available immediately), however luckily it is mostly done within 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile the notification bar switch between "Awaiting synchronisation for this folder" and "Fetching attached files...". There is no actual difference between
larger and smaller files and there is also no problem sending emails with attached files, they are sent immediately.
I have tested in different locations with good connections to rule out unstable internet connection without success.
Thanks for any help with this issue!Hi,
Since this is the forum supporting Office for Windows, if you want to receive more information about Office 2011, I recommend you post this problem in Office for Mac forum:

The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners
who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

Remove various accepted domains (exchange 2007) from a list file via powershell
hello!
i'm a newbie with powershell and i'm trying to find if is it possible to remove a lot of exchange 2007 accepted domains from a csv file using powershell.
I want to delete accepted domains contained in a csv, it has only domains name and powershell requires the name , that is different from the domain.
example of accepted domain in my organization:
Name DomainName DomainType Default
Domain0001
domain1.com Authoritative False
Domain0002 hello1.com
Authoritative False
I've only a csv with domains name:
domain.csv:
Domain
domain1.com
hello1.com
Deleting an accepted domain via powershell requires the name so I need to extract first the name of , i've tried with this command and it works:
Get-AcceptedDomain | Where{$_.DomainName -eq 'domain1.com'}
This works only for 1 domain, I've a lot of domains to delete so it's inviable
Now, i'm trying to launch this command without success:
import-csv domain.csv | foreach {Get-AcceptedDomain | Where{$_.DomainName -eq '$_.Domain'}}
Probably there is a syntax error, or maybe I just can't do it.
Any help?
Many thanks in advance!!Don't know what to tell you, then. If I create a test file with that data, the Import-CSV works for me:
Domain
3414257440.domain.com
domain1.domain.com
