Output file from an applet to a server
Hi,
I am trying to find a way to get my applet to create an output file on the server in the directory of the applet .class file. This seems to be a problem since most classes I have tried seem to write the ouput file to the computer which is running an instance of the applet as opposed to the server which is running the applet code. If anyone knows of a library or class that can create and write to an output file on the server in the directory of the applet .class, please let me know. Thanks.

Hello, How do I tell sql+ to spool output file from windows to Unix server?
Hello, How do I tell sql+ to spool output file from windows to Unix server?
I am new to SQL+ and just learned how to spool the file. But file is saved in my local windows enviroment and since it's 2GB in size...I want to spool it directly to another remote unix server.
Pls answer in detail... I have been to most of the thread and didn't see relevant answer to above question.
Am I suppose to develope some script which FTP the spool file directly to the server I want to
or
i Have to use UTL_FILE Package ?
Thanks for replyYou may not be able to...
SQL*Plus can only spool to the local machine. If you have mapped a directory on the Unix server from your Windows machine, you can specify that directory in your SPOOL command.
You could telnet to the Unix server, run SQL*Plus there, and spool the file to a local (Unix) directory.
If the Unix server is also the Oracle database server, you could use the UTL_FILE package rather than using SQL*Plus to spool a file.
If the Unix server is also an FTP server, you could also FTP the file from your local machine to the server.
Of course, I would tend to re-examine a requirement to regularly generate a 2 GB text file. It seems likely that there is a better way...

Reading and writing to a text file from an Applet
I'm a novice java programming with very little formal programming training. I've pieced together enough knowledge to do what I've wanted to do so far...
However, I've been unable to figure out how to read and write to a text file from an Applet (I can do it from a normal java program just fine). Here is a simple example of what I'd like to do (you can also look at it on my website: www.stat.colostate.edu/~leach/test02/test02.html). I know that there is some problem with permission/security but I'm not smart enough to understand what the error messages are telling or understand the few books I have. If anyone can tell me how to get this applet to work, or direct me to some referrences that would help me out I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Andy

c.gridx=1; c.gridy=0; c.gridwidth=1; c.gridheight=1;
c.weightx = c.weighty = 0.0;

PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(f));
out.print("This is test02.txt");
out.close();
}catch(IOException e){**/}
}I have almost the exact same problem, and I am in the same situation as you are with respects to the language.
I am simply trying to create a file and output some garbage to it but my applet always spits back a security violation. I've tried eliminating the restrictions on the applet runner I use but I still get the error.
My method:
debug = new Label() ;
debug.setLocation( 20, 20 ) ;
debug.setSize( 500, 15 ) ;
add( debug ) ;
// output
try
OutputStream file = new FileOutputStream( new File( "" + getCodeBase() + "output.txt" ) ) ;
byte[] buffer = { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 } ;
file.write( buffer ) ;
file.close() ;
} catch( Exception e )
debug.setText( e.toString() ) ;
Can anyone tell why this isnt working? -
Output file from ELM and from Campaign automation
Hi Experts,
Can some one let me know how to get an output file from ELM, and from campaign automation?
Thanks
LeelaHello Uday,
i suppose if you run the program within a process chain it will be started
in a background process. All downloads via the SAPGUI onto your local
PC (or network drive) are not possible in the background because there is no
connection to your PC during the excecution of the report in the background.
Try to save the download on an accessible file system on the application server
and download it from there afterwards.
Which function module is used to download the data (GUI_DOWNLOAD or the older version WS_DOWNLOAD) in your report?
To save data on the application server use the ABAP statements
OPEN DATASET filename FOR OUTPUT -> for creation of file
TRANSFER record TO filename -> for transfer of one record
CLOSE DATASET filename -> for closing the file

- RahulYou can use cos.jar provided by O'Reilly from http://www.servlets.com/cos/. Take a look at com.oreilly.servlet.multipart.* classes.
Package is provided with source, classes, documentation and, of course, ready-to-use jar file.
It is really usefull and - ready! -
How do I update a file in an Applet's JAR file from the Applet code
Here's my problem.
My applet is using a serializable history data in which I am storing in the applet's JAR file. When I run the applet, I read the file with "getResourceAsStream()" and run my program with that hist data. When my applet is closed, I need to update this file from my Applet's code and I dumfounded about how to do that.
Is there any way to update a file in the Applet's JAR file through the Java Applet code? (i.e. OutputStream?).
Would appreciate any advice people have.Just place a copy of the file on the local hard disk and update that. When you start the Applet you try to read from the hard disk. If the file exists then no problem otherwise copy it from the jar to the hard disk.

Hi, there
I'm not really pro- at RDS in server 2012 (r1), but I have a problem and don't find anything suitable on internet:
I'm trying to publish one of my own, unlisted programs to rdweb, but it keeps saying "You must specify a file from the RD Session Host server SERVERNAME by using the UNC path...."
1) I provided the path in the unc name - when I click "Add.." then i browse the the .exe file via network share, not via local path. So that should be OK
2) Firewall is turned off and eventhough the exeptions are enabled, both of then, checked
What else should I do to make this work?Okej, I found the sollution:
You have to specify the path like \\hostname\drive_letter$\path-to-the-program.
I was doing wrong because i wrote it like \\hostname\ShareName\path-to-the-program.
I was misleded because the wizard wants me to find the program by clicking, and not by entring the path manualy. -

Hello !
I know it is impossible to write files from an applet for security reasons, but I "only" need to read some data from files.
My applet works perfectly with the appletviewer, but when I try from IExplorer, it reacts as if the files were missing. In fact, I think it is a poblem with the location...where could I find the files ? What path do I have to mention in my code ?
I tried to use a .jar archive, putting all my .class and data files in that archive, but it still doesn't find the data files.
Thanks for you help.
C14There's just as much security about reading files from an applet, otherwise a hidden applet on a web page could read the files on your PC and transmit your secrets to some web site.
You [i[can[/i] write applets to read (and write) files on the local machine but they need to be digitally signed.
If the files you want to read are just parameters etc. then the best thing is to put them where you put your html and read them through a URL connection. That's allowed. -
Transfer file from UNIX to windows application server G:\ drive
Dear Expert,
Really need some help on this, very urgent !
The download program schedule in background to allow file store in unix.
Can we do a unix command in abap program to transfer the file from unix to windows application server G:\ drive.
The gateway for that application server is ukblmqg02.emea.astrazeneca.net .
Anyone have the sample source code ?
Thanks®ards
NislinaHi,
1.
There is a FM 'ARCHIVFILE_SERVER_TO_CLIENT'.
If the requirement need not necessarily require a FM to transfer a file, then you can also use transaction 'CG3Y' to transfer a file
from application server to presentation server.
2.
Try to use FM DOCFILE_SERVER_TO_CLIENT. I am using it to download a file from SAP application server to desktop.
Source path should be application server file path along with file name i.e. /tmp/sample.xls.
Target path should be something like c:\file.xls.

Is this philosphy correct?
Should the HttpURLConnection be to the target folder
and then create the file in it?hello,
first here is my interpretation of your prob.
You have a client.From this client you are trying to upload files onto a server.
Finding the files and reading them on the client side is not a prob. The prob is storing them on the server side.
right?
If the above stated prob is right, here is a solution.
1. You have to first inform the server that you are sending the file. Unless you do so the server will not understand when you have started sending the file.
So, initially, the applet which you have written need to communicate with a servlet on the server side.
This can be done using reqs.. .get or post.In the req itself you can even send the name of the folder wherein you want to store the file you are going to transfer later on.
Next, after receiving the folder name, the servlet can now understand that next file data is going to be received.
The applet now sends the file which is received by the servlet and stored appropriately.
You need to explicitly write a servlet to receive a data into the file and then store the file into appropriate folder.

How to store multiple files from SAp in to Application server?
Hi Guys,
Can anybody tell me how to store multiple files from SAP into Application server.in my application i have to get the data from SAP tables BSEG , BKPF , BSAK and BSIK that to daily i have to do.
Any Logic or Code for how to do is welcomed.
plz help me urgently.
Thanks,
GopiHi,
directories creates basis. If you have task to store data in application server you already should have information into which folder you have to do it. If you don't have this information because it is just for example training for next task then you can use your personal folder into which you have access. To get list of all available folders please look at attached code and form get_directories (you get the list of folders you see in transaction AL11). But don't forget: If you are using open dataset you have to have rights to access application folder!
Here you are code which I use to upload text files from local disc into application folder

Karol

How to get up and running with WebUtil 1.06 included with Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 on a win32 platform
Solution
Assuming a fresh "Complete" install of Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2,
here are steps to get a small test form running, using WebUtil 1.06.
Note: Oracle_Home is used as an alias for your real oDS ORACLE_HOME.
Feel free to copy this note to a text editor, and do a global find/replace on
Oracle_Home with your actual value (no trailing slash). Then it is easy to
copy/paste actual commands to be executed from the note copy.
1) Download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jacob-project/jacob_18.zip
and extract to a temporary staging area. Do not attempt to use 1.7 or 1.9.
2) Copy or move jacob.jar and jacob.dll
C:\webutile is the folder where you extracted Jacob, and will end in ...\jacob_18
cd C:\webutile
copy jacob.jar Oracle_Home\forms\java\.
copy jacob.dll Oracle_Home\forms\webutil\.
The Jacob staging area is no longer needed, and may be deleted.
3) Sign frmwebutil.jar and jacob.jar
Open a DOS command prompt.
Add Oracle_Home\jdk\bin to the PATH:
set PATH=Oracle_Home\jdk\bin;%PATH%
Sign the files, and check the output for success:
Oracle_Home\forms\webutil\sign_webutil Oracle_Home\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar
Oracle_Home\forms\webutil\sign_webutil Oracle_Home\forms\java\jacob.jar
4) If you already have a schema in your RDBMS which contains the WebUtil stored code,
you may skip this step. Otherwise,
Create a schema to hold the WebUtil stored code, and privileges needed to
connect and create a stored package. Schema name "WEBUTIL" is recommended
for no reason other than consistency over the user base.
Open Oracle_Home\forms\create_webutil_db.sql in a text editor, and delete or comment
out the EXIT statement, to be able to see whether the objects were created witout
errors.
Start SQL*Plus as SYSTEM, and issue:
CREATE USER webutil IDENTIFIED BY [password]
DEFAULT TABLESPACE users
TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
GRANT CONNECT, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO webutil;
CONNECT webutil/webutil@rcci
@Oracle_Home\forms\create_webutil_db.sql
-- Inspect SQL*Plus output for errors, and then
CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM webutil_db FOR webutil.webutil_db;
Reconnect as SYSTEM, and issue:
grant execute on webutil_db to public;
5) Modify Oracle_Home\forms\server\default.env, and append Oracle_Home\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar
to the CLASSPATH entry.
6) Modify Oracle_Home\forms\server\formsweb.cfg insde [default] add :
archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
archive=frmall.jar
also add :
[webutil]
WebUtilLogging=off
WebUtilLoggingDetail=normal
WebUtilErrorMode=Alert
WebUtilDispatchMonitorInterval=5
WebUtilTrustInternal=true
WebUtilMaxTransferSize=16384
baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljini.htm
baseHTMLjpi=webutiljpi.htm
baseHTML=webutilbase.htm
archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar
WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar,f90all.jar
archive=frmwebutil.jar,f90all.jar
lookAndFeel=oracle
7) Modify Oracle_Home\forms\server\webutil.cfg and add :
transfer.database.enabled=TRUE
transfer.appsrv.enabled=TRUE
8) Start the OC4J instance
9) Start Forms Builder and connect to a schema in the RDBMS used in step (4).
Open webutil.pll, do a "Compile ALL" (shift-Control-K), and generate to PLX (Control-T).
It is important to generate the PLX, to avoid the FRM-40039 discussed in Note 303682.1
If the PLX is not generated, the Webutil.pll library would have to be attached with
full path information to all forms wishing to use WebUtil. This is NOT recommended.
10) Create a new FMB.
Open webutil.olb, and Subclass (not Copy) the Webutil object to the form.
There is no need to Subclass the WebutilConfig object.
Attach the Webutil.pll Library, and remove the path.
Add an ON-LOGON trigger with the code
NULL;
to avoid having to connect to an RDBMS (optional).
Create a new button on a new canvas, with the code
show_webutil_information (TRUE);
in a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger.
Compile the FMB to FMX, after doing a Compile-All (Shift-Control-K).
11) Under Edit->Preferences->Runtime in Forms Builder, click on "Reset to Default" if
the "Application Server URL" is empty.
Then append "?config=webutil" at the end, so you end up with a URL of the form
http://server:port/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil
12) Run your form. -
I am using the program Z_SAP_HIERARCHY_DOWNLOAD to output a hierarchy in BW to a specified drive. It works fine when I go to SE38 and run it. However, when I run it from a process chain, it doesn't output the file. How can I generate the output file by running the program from a Process Chain? Thanks.
Hello Uday,
i suppose if you run the program within a process chain it will be started
in a background process.

Ralf Matthies
