Output in RTF format

does HTMLDB provide any option for displaying the data in RTF format? I have a PLSQL procedure that creates a HTML report on the fly. Now I am planning to generate XSLFO output and use FOP to create RTF document from this XSLFO output.
Is there any option in HTMLDB that simplifies this task?
thanks in advance,
Aravind

Hi Aravind,
I don’t think there is any help in HTMLDB for this. There is this technical note: http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/notes/technote_htmldb_fop.html I don’t really like this approach.
You should consider using XML Publisher. It’s a “new” Oracle product that is easy to use and really works! Actually it’s an Oracle Application product that is now standalone. It’s much faster to use than making the xslt manually. You can make the templates in Word. We have a project where we don’t make any templates. The customers make their own on each site.
There of cause is a licensing issue. Depending on you setup it can be expensive.

BI Publisher
You can download it from Oracle eDelivery:

Platform: Any (e.g. Window 32 Bit)
The part number is B23145-01: "Oracle® XML Publisher CD/Media Pack".

  • How to open Report output in RTF format using concurrent request form.

    Hi
I have created a report using BI publisher and RTF format. This report is working fine in PDF format. User can submit report using consurrent request form and can see report preview in PDF format.
Now user wants to submit another request and wants to see report output in RTF format.
User submitted a request, request successfully completed and generated a output RTF file in unix box but when user wants to see report output using concurrent request form (View Output) then window is showing raw data instead of RTF output.
Can any body tell me about solutions?
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi
I did little R&D on it and found following 2 solutions.I am sure that you also find something but for my shake i am putting it here.If you already find the solution then ignore it.
    I) 1st Solution
1)Change the profiles 'Viewer: Application for Text' and put value as 'Browser'
    2) Change the profiles 'Viewer: Text' and put value as 'Browser'.Either change it system level or concerned user.
    3) Log out from Current session and close all internet explorer application.
    4) Log in again to check the result
    II) 2nd Solution
    1) Navigate to: Sys admin --> Install -> Viewer Options to open the Form "Viewer Options".
Do the entry as shown below:
    File_Format     Mime Type               Description
    RTF          application/rtf Microsoft Word(.rtf)
    RTF          application/msword          Microsoft Word(.rtf)
    2) Then ensure that the profile option Viewer: Application for Text is set to BLANK at the Site Level and User Level.
    3) Then ensure that the profile option Viewer: Text is set to 'browser' at the Site Level.
-- It will pop-up the screen to choose application name from above two values.
Hope this will work it for you. For me i replicated the scenario and both solutions were working for me.
    With Best Regards

  • Unable to View output in .rtf format

    Hi guys,
I am new to BI publisher.
I want to view the output in .rtf format
When click on view output I am getting an error "Unable to find the published output for this request" and then "No output file exists for request xxxxxxxx"
Do we need to apply any patch on the applications side in order to resolve this
I am able the output in .pdf format on the serverside
I am unable to view it in .rft or excel format
    Any suggestions

Is the issue with XML/PDF concurrent requests or with all requests?
Can you find any errors in Apache/Database log files?
Is the application listener up and running? Can you find any errors in the listener log file?
Have you tried to run AutoConfig and bounce the services and see if this helps?

  • XML Publisher report output in RTF format does not display full page

    Hi,
We have one XML Publisher report, the output of report in RTF format is not getting displayed in Full Page in normal way (MS Word -->View menu --> Print layout) but we can see full page display when we do MS Word -->View menu --> Outline.
Appreciate your valuable inputs on this.
Is this a template issue or any profiles needs to be set.
    Thanks

Do you have any header and footer on your template?
If you have any header and footer then try to adjust it as of to display full page.

  • URGENT HELP:Reports Output in RTF Format

    Hi,
I have a problem with Oracle Reports 3.0
I am generating a report output to a RTF file.
The report is output in landscape orientation in Reports Runtime
    window.
But when I open the RTF document, the output is in
Portrait orientation and some of the information is getting out
of the view. If I manually change the orientation in the RTF
Page Setup, I am able to view the output properly.
Can this be automated by using some property/setup in Oracle
    Reports 3.0?
Also, the BMPs are not visible in the RTF file.
Can anyone help me on these issues?

Your issue has nothing to do with upgrading to 5.0, it is a post script printer issue. That output that is printing to your printer is caused because PASTA is not setup correctly. You should be able to query Metalink for PASTA and get the proper setup steps.

  • RTF format

    Hi,
When I run a report giving desformat=RTF , in a URL . it gives DR Watson error .
I need to generate the output in RTF format but am unable to .
Any suggetions how to do so
    Thanks

    Alka,
You don't mention which version of Reports you are using, but this is an issue in which we actually need a printer assigned to the default system user running the reports server. Here is a quick fix that should work for you.
In your registery entry Check for "My computer\HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" Under this check for the Key 'device'.
This Key ideally should be pointing to the default printer for the system.
You can enter the 'device' Key value as of the default printer of the system.
For the correct system value of the default printer you can go to
"My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers" and copy the String value for 'DeviceOld' to that location.
I have not tested it, but in patch6 we removed this dependency. You can obtain the patch from metalink.

  • Initial-page-number not working in RTF format output

A report has a parameter for the page number to start with. In rtf template below code is present
    <?initial-page-number:xdoxslt:ifelse(P_FIRST_PAGE_NUM!=’’,number(P_FIRST_PAGE_NUM),1)?>
The report page number starts with the value which we pass in p_first_page_num in PDF format but in rtf format output it always starts with 1.
Is initial-page-number not supported in RTF format output ? If not then what is the alternative?

the method u followed is fine as need a page number staring from a specify value which u input.
@section is only for resetting page number to 1 for every group and for that pdf and ppt will be fine but only for rtf u need to use that ( pressing F9).
u can use @section and initial page number combined but they give u same output as get now. rtf output wont support it will only reset 1 every time
What ever u do rtf output wont support initial page number code ..........
i mentioned that F9 work around to mention that it is the only work around u have upto now to control rtf output with regards to page number.
Guru's correct me if i am wrong. wait for a day or two if some one from guru's confirm it .
If u need real confirmation raise an SR oracle will let u know .

  • Sending a smartform output as an attachment in RTF format via E-mail

    Hi all,
I have a scenario in which the output displayed using smartforms is to be sent as a e-mail attachment. Also, the attachment should be a word doc(RTF format). Can you please me with this.
    Warm Regards,

    HI,
See the call to function 'LF_FM_NAME' in standard print program <b>RLB_INVOICE</b>. Notice the preceding call to function WFMC_PREPARE_SMART_FORM? This function does the heavy lifting for you; here, no additional work is needed in either the form or the print program. To generate e-mail output.

  • How to regenerate output in XML format after having assigned RTF Template

    1. I created a concurrent request to get the output in XML data format
    2. Having created RTF File and assigned Data Definition and Template through XML Administartor Responsibility
    3. Now I want to make changes in Data Definition XML File, However I need to get the output file in XML data format, However Concurrent Request is not allowing me to get the XML output because Template is already assigned for the output and not able to de-assign template file from concurrent request.
For some reason in XML publisher, the end date for Template is disable, I am not able to update end date for template.
Is there any way to create an output in XML format through concurrent request after Template File is assigned to create an output? I will appreciate your help.

This is for people who want to know more in detail. Problem is if you put end date then you have to recreate an entry and then have to go through the same process. However I have found a way to use the same file,
Get the template_id by running the following query
    select * from xdo_templates_b
    where template_code = 'TEMPLATE_CODE'
Run the following query to update the end_date to some previous date value
    update xdo_templates_b
    set end_date = to_date('6/9/2011','mm/dd/yyyy')
    where template_id = 162
After that when you run request through concurrent request, it will not show the default template assigned to concurrent request. Run the request, output will be created in XML format.
Run the following query to use the template again
    update xdo_templates_b
    set end_date = null
    where template_id = 162

  • XML Publisher report default output in Excel format.

    Hi,
We have defined one concurrent program whose output format is text, this concurrent program executable is PL/SQL and in this PL/SQL program we are generating XML data and displaying XML using below fnd_request.
    l_conc_id := FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST('GMP','GMPPDROP','', '',FALSE,
         p_sequence_num,chr(0),'','','','','','','','','','','',
We have also defined template for this.
Using below fnd_request we are choosing template and data is getting generated in PDF format. Now our requirement is to display the output by default in Excel format.
    FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST('XDO','XDOREPPB','', '',FALSE,'',
    l_conc_id,554,G_comb_pdr_temp,
    G_comb_pdr_locale,'Y','RTF','',scale_report,'','','','','',
When i saw XML Report Publisher concurrent program, there is one parameter for Output Format and i tried passing 'Excel'/EXCEL/excel to this parameter but output is still coming in PDF format.
    FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST('XDO','XDOREPPB','', '',FALSE,'',
    l_conc_id,554,G_comb_pdr_temp,
    G_comb_pdr_locale,'Y','RTF','Excel',scale_report,'','','','','',
I have also tried giving Default Output to EXCEL in template definition but this is also not working.
    Your valuable suggestions highly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Generating BIP report in RTF format generates blank report

    Hi all,
When generating a BIP report in RTF format the report output is blank!?
If I run the report in any other format the report displays the data correctly.
    We're running siebel 8.1.1.2 and BIP 10.1.3.4.1.
When looking at the size of the report when the 'File Download' window appears it seem like the report contains data as the size is 62KB, compared to the pdf format which do display data is 20KB. The output generates the amount of pages that is needed for the report, but all pages are blank.
The report is an activity List report with just one for-each statement in it.
Has anybody come across the same?
    Regards,
    Hakan

    Hi alka,
To invoke Word automatically, use command
    line options DESTYPE=CACHE,
    DESFORMAT=RTF and MIMETYPE=application/msword.
This is an example URL: http://webserver:80/cg-bin/rwcgi60.exe?module
    =test.rdf&userid=scott/tiger@mydb&
    destype=cache&desformat=rtf&mimetype=application/msword&server=myrepserver
    1. Check the appropriate mimetype setting for Word by Starting Windows Explorer,
choose View -> Options from the menu, go to the File Type tab, find Microsoft
Word Document in this list, click Edit, and get the value for Content Type
(MIME). This is the value that needs to be used in the MIMETYPE command line
option, and it will typically be application/msword, but may differ on
    different machines.

  • Concurrent request submission displays Output in xml format ?

    Hi ,
I am submitting a concurrent request from workflow which is an xml publisher report . my problem when the program is run individually it displays the output correctly in rtf format but when the same request is submitted from worklfow the output comes in xml format ?
What could be the problem ?
I am using the standard submission "FND_WF_STANDARD.SUBMITCONCPROGRAM " program and assigning the values directly to it . the submission activity is working fine but the output comes as mentioned above.
    Regards,
    Skg

    Kiran ,
I am not using fnd_request.submit request coc I don't need to capture the user information for my workflow .
I am only using the standard " FND_WF_STANDARD.SUBMITCONCPROGRAM " . this Package only submits the concurrent program through workflow in a function.
    no need of backend programming.
My job is to submit and move to the next function . the output will be determined via custom profile option.
now, for this package I am directly assigning the values like appshort name , prog shrt name , and parameter.
there is no mention of layouts anywhere in the standard workflow package .
its very urgent for me friend.

  • Xml report output in excel format without using options tab in EBS

How to get xml publisher report output in excel format without using options tab in EBS?
I am getting XML Publisher report output in excel format by using options tab while submitting the concurrent request .
But i want to get excel output automatically.
Can anyone give idea to get XML publisher Report output in excel without selecting options tab.
    Thanks in advance
    Sandeep V

    Hey Sandeep,
I am working on a similar format for a report and if possible can you please give me some guidelines. I have initially created reports using XML Publisher, but for those , the output preview format was PDF. So, if I select the preview format as EXCEL will it give me output in Excel and for this to happen, how do I define the rtf template. I believe the working will be same as for PDF, create a rdf report, get output in XML and apply the template to get the data in Excel or there is something different to this.
    Thanks,
    Sunil
