Outputting data in an Oracle Collection

I would like some advice on the easiest way to output the data in my collection given the code I have below. An example would be GREATLY appreciated.
DECLARE
TYPE refresh_file_t IS TABLE OF test.loading_dock%ROWTYPE ;
demo refresh_file_t ;
BEGIN
SELECT * BULK COLLECT INTO demo FROM test.loading_dock ;
END ;

Here is what I'm trying to do. I assign my data to my collection. Then I try to loop through the collection and use put_line to view it.
For simplicity reasons, I am limiting my data to only one record. Here is my code and my error below...thanks for your help!
CODE
DECLARE
TYPE refresh_file_t IS TABLE OF test.refresh_loading_dock%ROWTYPE ;
demographic refresh_file_t ;
v_count INTEGER ;
BEGIN
SELECT * BULK COLLECT
INTO demographic
FROM test.refresh_loading_dock
WHERE ROWNUM = 1 ;
v_count := demographic.FIRST ;
WHILE (v_count IS NOT NULL)
LOOP
dbms_output.put_line(demographic(v_count)) ;
v_count := demographic.NEXT(v_count) ;
END LOOP ;
END ;

  • Problem with date format from Oracle DB

    Hi,
    I am facing a problem with date fields from Oracle DB sources. The date format of the field in DB table is 'Date base type is DATE and DDIC type is DATS'.
    I mapped the date fields to Date characters in BI. Now the data that comes to PSA is in weird format. It shows like -0.PR.09-A
    I have changing the field settings in DataSource  to internal and external and also i have tried mapping these date fields to text fields with out luck. All delivers the same format.
    I have also tried using conversion routines like, CONVERSION_EXIT_IDATE_INPUT to change format. It also delivers me the same old result.
    If anybody of you have any suggestions or if anybody have you experienced such probelms, Please share your experience with me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Varada

    Thanks for all your reply. I can only the solutions creating view in database. I want some solution to be done in BI. I appreciate if some of you have idea in it.
    The issue again in detail
    I am facing an issue with date fields from oracle data. The data that is sent from Oracle is in the format is -0.AR.04-M. I am able to convert this date in BI with conversion routine in BI into format 04-MAR-0.
    The problem is,  I am getting data of length 10 (Output format) in the format -0.AR.04-M where the month is not in numericals. Since it is in text it is taking one character spacing more.
    I have tried in different ways to convert and increased the length in BI, the result is same. I am wondering if we can change the date format in database.
    I am in puzzle with the this date format. I have checked other Oracle DB connections data for date fields in BI, they get data in the format 20.081.031 which will allow to convert this in BI. Only from the system i am trying creating a problem.

  • What is the best way to put LabVIEW DSC data into an Oracle database?

    I have been collecting data using LabVIEW DSC 7.0 for several years and have always accessed the data from the Citadel database via the Historical Data Viewer.  I would now like to begin putting this data into an Oracle database.  My company stores all their data in Oracle and it would provide me all the benefits of their existing infrastructure such as automated backups, data mining tools, etc.
    My initial thought is to use "Read Trace.vi" in LabVIEW to pull historical data from the citadel database at regular intervals (e.g. 1 minute) and insert this data into Oracle via ODBC.  In this way, I do not need to track the value changes in order to know when to write to Oracle.  I also considered replicating the citadel database using some other method, but I recall that the tables used by citadel are somewhat complicated.  I only need a simple table with columns for channel, timestamp, and data.  The "Read Trace.vi" will provide me data in this format.
    I do not need to update the Oracle database in real time, a few minute delay is acceptable. If anyone has a better idea or additional insight please let me know. Thanks.

    In terms of connectivity, you want to use ADO, not ODBC. Beyond that, it all depends on the structure of the data and what you are going to want to do with it. This is a very big question that you need to be getting some in-depth assistance.

  • Default date format in oracle

    Hi
    What is the default format of date in oracle?
    When I rum the following query
    select * from emp where hiredate='03-december-1981' ...
    It is returning two records.
    How is it possible?

    Kamran Agayev wrote:
    For input and output of dates, the standard Oracle date format is DD-MON-YY
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14220/datatype.htm#i1847
    Although it's there in the documentation, I find it misleading, as many times, the default nls_date_format has been changed to something else, either by the dba's, or by a front end application or whatever.
    It is ALWAYS safest to use to_date and to_char when working with strings-that-you-want-as-dates or dates-that-you-want-as-strings respectively.
    Any time you store a date in the database, store it in DATE format - this gives oracle valuable information (eg. that it's a date and not just a string) which allows it to make decisions correctly when comparing them. Eg. '22/01/2009' is earlier than '14/02/2009' if the database knows it is a date, but is later if all the database sees is a string (14 being less than 22, of course).
    Anything that is already in date format, you do not need to change if you're using it in calculations (eg. select date_col_1 - date_col_2 from my_table , or sysdate) but any time you interact with the database to input a date or extract a date, you need to use to_date or to_char. (it's less important with the latter, if you don't really care how the date is displayed). Do not ever to_date() something that is already a date - you force implicit conversions of the date and that is a) pointless and b) could cause bugs in your code.
    Even the experts sometimes get caught out with dates, when they rely on implicit conversions!

    hello
    i think you cannot use the portal built-in packages inside omni portlets. Omni portlets is designed to connect to other data source (not only oracle) and Portal API might not be available at these data sources. Therefore, you should not be using these Packages at all!. i tried very hard, but to no avail.. Omni portlet has its own repository!! if you cannot pass the infomration as a parameter, then find a different approach

    Hi,
    I was trying to push some data from an Oracle Sample schema (Schema: OE Table: Customers) to a target schema. The interface was erroring out because of undefined data types in the model.
    I chkd the model, only to find that some of the data types were undefined.
    I DESCribed the table in the using SQL Client, The data types returned were
    CUST_ADDRESS_TYP
    PHONE_LIST_TYP
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY
    I DESCribed the datatypes, They seem to be flexfields of some kind,
    Please advise on how to define these data types into ODI:
    Heres the DESC output
    SQL> desc customers;
    Name Null? Type
    CUSTOMER_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(6)
    CUST_FIRST_NAME NOT NULL VARCHAR2(20)

    phone_list_typ VARRAY(5) OF VARCHAR2(25)

    To create MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY datatype, goes to Topology module, Oracle Techonology, Datatypes, and add a new datatype GEOMETRY. (try to fill all information fields with GEOMETRY and see what happens maybe you have to ajust this after but it is a start point).
    add information in from and to tabs according your source and target desired tech.
    Reverse againg your model, or change the datatype in the model datastore. Re-run your interface

  • How do I make a VI that contols a 6534 card take less time to load 1Mbyte and output data ?

    Hello-
    I'm developing a pattern generation burst mode type VI that reads byte characters from a text file, manipulates the bytes that it reads and then outputs the data from a 6534 card. The REQ1 pin is pulled high which makes the card continually output data until the internal buffer is empty. An internal clock is used. The problem is that the size of the file that is read by the VI can be relatively large, in the 1MByte range. After the VI manipulation, the output array is 16 times larger than the input string. So, when the VI reads a 1MByte text file, the output array contains 16 million entries (each array entry is 3 bits by the way). It takes about 20 seco
    nds to run and output data from the 6534 even when reading files that are 200kbyte or so. I'm outputting the data at 5Mbps. I'm not sure where all the delay is coming from. Using the 'Profile VI" function under the 'Tools' menu shows a snapshot of time that really doesn't help me since it only shows that the time is spent in my VI. Is this just the result of loading large files ? Or, is there a way to preload the 1MByte file into the 32MB of RAM on the 6534 card before the VI is actually run. What I mean is that I do have the option in my system to have a time when all text files will somehow be loaded into the 6534 memory, during some initialization period, and then the VI would be run with the text file already loaded. This of course assumes that the delay is loading the file from the harddrive, but since the harddrive transfer speed is fast, I have no idea where to speed things up. Any ideas ? Thanks !

    Your question actually belongs to the Measurement Devices >> Digital IO section since it concerns operating the 653x family of digital boards. You will see other related questions and answers there. In the future, please direct your digital questions to that forum.
    If you are trying to profile your VI, you can break it into different pieces. For instance, you can make a subVI out of the file data manipulation.
    Now, are you doing pattern generation or burst mode handshaking output? From your description of the signal connections, it looks like burst mode. You can double-check in the 653x User Manual at the http://www.ni.com/manuals pages. Still, it looks like you could accomplish your task with pattern generation. There are example VIs for both operations that
    I suggest you start with. They are located in the LabVIEW >> Examples >> Daq >> Digital >> 653x.llb directory.
    It also sounds like you are doing a single buffered operation, where you have a set amount of data that you want to output, and once done, the VI will stop. You are preloading the data to the buffer at DIO Write.vi before the 6534 actually outputs the data with DIO Start.vi when you program like the examples.
    Thus, start with the appropriate example and then add the File I/O to it. You can even test with a smaller file to see the effects. You will also find useful information concerning the 6534 in the KnowledgeBase, particularly KnowledgeBase 298CGF9M "How Many Samples of Data Can I Store in the Onboard Memory of the NI 6534?". You can find this online by going to the http://www.ni.com/support and choosing KnowledgeBase from the Technical Resources pull-down menu. Then, type in keywords to search for, such as "6534".

  • Using Web Service as Data source (Pluggable Data Source) in Oracle Reports

    Anyone using Webservice as a pluggable data source in oracle 10g reports.(Report builder version:10.1.2.0.2)? We need to be able to use web service as one of the data source to create reports.Tried the following and ran into issues:
    Imported the wspds.jar fle from oracle plugin exchage. When tried using it received the following error in oracle reports trace file.
    04/26 22:27:22 java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build([Loracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument;Ljava/net/URL;)Ljava/lang/Object;
    By troubleshooting issue found out that xmlparserv2.jar in 10g is newer than xmlparserv2.jar in 9i. wspds.jar is using xmlparserv2.jar in 9i as it was developed and tested for 9i only. Believe there is no newer wspds.jar file developed specifically for 10g?
    Is there a better/standard solution to use webservice as data source in oracle 10g reports? Does later version of oracle reports supports webservice as a data source without any additional plugins? Any suggestion would be helpful.

    Please provide support for the above request.
    It appears that Oracle 10g reports doesn't support Web Service as pluggable data source. Is this option is available in Oracle 11g Reports or Oracle Discoverer Or OBIEE?

  • How can I convert output data (string?) from GPIB-read to an 1D array?

    Hello all,
    I am reading a displayed waveform from my Tektronix Oscilloscope (TDS3032) via the GPIB Read VI. The format of the waveform data is: positive integer data-point representation with the most significant byte transferred first (2 bytes per data point).
    The output data of GPIB-Read looks like a string(?) where the integer numbers and a sign like the euro-currency sign are seperated by spaces e.g. #5200004C3 4 4 4 4 3C3C3........ (C represents the euro-currency sign).
    How can I convert this waveform data into a 1D/2D array of real double floatingpoint numbers (DBL) so I can handle the waveform data for data-analysis?
    It would be very nice if someone know the solution for this.
    t
    hanks

    Hi,
    First of all, I'm assuming you are using LabVIEW.
    The first you need to do is parse the string returned by the instrument. In this case you need to search for the known symbols in the string (like the euro sign) and chop the string to get the numeric strings. Here are some examples on parsing from www.ni.com:
    Keyword Search: parsing
    Once you parse the numeric strings you can use the "String/number conversion VIs" in the String pallette.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can i save the data from the Oracle database to my local directory

    How can i save the data from the Oracle database to my local directory instead Of saving the data file to the Directory created on the Oracle Server ?
    I require to design the Procedure which will pull the data from various tables and needs to store the data in the Client's local directory.

    Since SQL*PLUS runs on the client, you can use SQL*PLUS to spool data to your local drive.
    You could also use the database to write a a specified drive where all users have access to (mapped network drive, e.g.). I wouldn't recommend doing it that way, but it is sometimes useful when the files are created in some nightly batch run.
