Over Quota warning for deleted user

We keep getting, "over quota" warnings for a users that no longer has an account on the mail server. The user has been deleted from the Workgroup and her mailboxes were deleted via command line, but we keep getting over quota warnings. Anyone every seen this? Or know how to make it stop? We're runnning OS 10.4.9.

The problem is that this is not being initiated from a task, but form our nightly maintenance job. These users are falling off because of AD updates outside of our system.
If a DN is deleted from AD, it's already been removed from the groups in AD, but the privileges in our Identity Store haven't synced yet. If we strip all privileges before the entry is deleted, and the DN is no longer valid, the event task will bomb because it is trying to remove a user that doesn't exist anymore.
I'm thinking of just trapping it in the jobs with a script that checks that the user DN is not null. If it is, just skip the entry.
And yes, I will be at TechEd.

    We have a computer lab setup with an Xserve managing 15 stations in the lab. Users are setup with networked home directories and quota's are setup on the drive containing the home directories to limit users' storage.
    The user account and the quota limit are setup with Workgroup Manager. When a student has been gone for a while and we are sure they no longer need the account we delete their account within Workgroup Manager and move their Home folder to the trash.
    When viewing disk usage in Server Admin (by selecting the volume and clicking the Quatas tab) user ids for deleted users are listed and it still shows the disk usage and quota settings for the user.
    How can I remove theses user ids from the quota list?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I would restore User's file structre back to normal just by copying from standby user?

    For the unknown user, as you said, it's probably a user account from second OS or
    action. If you're annoying about this unknown user, then you can remove all occurrences of granted rights to the specified SID with this command icals [/remove[:g|:d]] <Sid>[...]] [/t] [/c] [/l] [/q]

  • Deprovisioning Task for Deleted User Removes All Members of AD Group

    Hello all,
    I was wondering if anyone had ever encountered this issue before. We're on 7.1 SP5.
    Here's the setup, we have several privileges that are linked to Active Directory Group membership. We have tasks set up to add or remove a user from the membership list of the AD group that are linked to the Provision and Deprovision tasks on the privilege. This has been working very efficiently for us: when a user is assigned the privilege they are added to the group, and when it is removed they are removed from the group. There are no approvals involved.
    Recently, we've run into an issue that when a user with a privilege gets deleted from the Identity Store, the Deprovision task gets kicked off, but the user DN that is passed in the LDAP task is NULL. This essentially sets the member attribute on the AD Group to NULL, thus removing all members.
    Typically it will throw a warning about deleting obsolete entries and never updates the group. The event tasks seem to be kicked off after the entry is removed from the Identity Store, so it does not seem like a timing issue.
    We've had this up and running for several months, but only recently have we had the issue. It does not seem to be restricted to any group, but it will not happen for all the groups. The users in question have had other privileges corresponding to AD group access, but those groups were not emptied.
    Any help would be appreciated..

    In lower releases you could easily have made a big mistake doing that.
    In all releases the security audit log (SM20) is the correct tool for this, but you cannot retro-fit it.
    If the SM20 log is not activated for logon events, then there are several other ways of reconstructing parts of the information but they are all incomplete and a big effort.

    You can use the exact same technique for any of the other requests submissions through APIs that have been posted on this message forum. Just supply the template name for your request template you plan to use.

    The employees from the administration complain all the time about the different types of security warning that they get when trying to run some applications which are used frequently.
    Since the number of the users is too big it is unfeasible to go through all the users and disable the User Access Control at their account settings.
    Is it possible to achieve this through given account policy settings. I want to perform the changes on the server so it applies to *all* (or maybe those of Administration department) users.
    One useful information here can be the following: we use 2 different severs, the application which cause the errors are in the terminal server, and the users are in the main server. Where should I perform the changes?

    It could sound like that one indeed. There are a few options to go for, however it should be fairly easy to find out :)
    Create a test GPO and apply to a limited amount of users. GPUpdate and verify that the GPO has been applied using rsop.msc
    Then open the application to test and see if it has the desired effect. You might need to change more than one setting, depending on the application and desired behavior.

    Oddly, this is only a problem for connections using the IPC
    protocol. If I omit the IPC section from my listener.ora
    (leaving only the TCP section), non-privileged users can log on
    to local databases through SQL*Net without problems.
    I suppose it's not a big deal (there's not that much overhead
    going through the TCP loopback port on Linux), but I'm wondering
    what's wrong. SQL*Net over IPC certainly works on Solaris.
    This is on a S.u.S.E 5.3 distribution of Linux.

    Check that your oracle executable is SUID oracle and SGID dba?
    I'd have thought that would cause problems with bequeath
    connections, so perhaps not.
    Wierd error. You might try running an strace on the sqlplus to
    see what system call fails.

  • Does T-Lane Duration take priority over Quota Arrangement for SNP Heuristics?

    I have the following scenario setup for SNP Heuristics.
    Source : S1, S2
    Destination : D0
    T-Lanes are All Product valid from years 2012 - 9999
    T-Lane : S1 -> D0 : 0hr Duration
    T-Lane : S2 -> D0 : 144 hr Duration
    Inbound Quota Arrangements at D0 - 100% to Partner Location S2 ( no quota for source S1)
    When I run Location Heuristic in Data View for a demand 2 days from current day, it is sourcing from S1 even though I have 100% Quota arrangement to source it from S2. Is this correct?

    The quota has priority, so S2 should be determined.
    This is what I would do:
    I would check again than the Quota is well mainatined: check the validity period, double check the quota is 100% for S2. You could even recreate the Quota again.
    Check MAT1 for your Material in all the locations S1 & S2.
    Check that your t-lane S2 --> D0 is ok.. not blocked.
    Try to create an Transport Requisitions manually in RRP3 at location D0 and chose source S2.
    If after point 4 you can create manually teh requisition assigning S2, then something is wrong with your Quota. In this case check these threads:

  • Warning for AOL users (IPod related)

    Last weekend I spent 3 hours on the phone with the IPod tech support line because whenever I tried to plug my IPod (30GB w/video) into the computer to use the ITunes software, the IPod would literally freeze. I'd see nothing but the flashing red X with the 'do not disconnect' sign, and when I tried to remove the hardware, I'd get nothing but a bunch of error messages. (I even lost all of my songs on my IPod at one point, but thankfully got them all back with tech support's help)
    Anyway, we later realized that the cause of the whole problem was AOL's new security and virus protection center. AOL had also installed some games into our computer that were embedded with some sort of corrupted file called WildTangent that thankfully got removed as well. So we uninstalled their security center, cancelled our account, and my IPod has been working beautifully ever since.
    I just wanted to let everyone know about this in case there might be someone out there who's had or is having the same problems that I did. Hopefully I helped in some small way.

  • Applescript for deleting user folders

    So I am managing a group of about 80+ iMacs and an Xserve.  I would like to delete the contents of the users folder excluding the arduser (user i will be using to run script), shared folder and a desktop alias file.  I want to be able to connect to the server from computer im wiping click on the script and have it run without having to choose folders and click extra things, just double click and done.  Ideally I would like this script to do much more, such as delete all cs3, 4, 5 apps and a couple of app folders all in one swoop.  Would love some help, I am new to Applescripts and am unfamiliar witht the language.

    I'm not sure I understand this. Why would you log into the server to wipe the users on the local machine? Why not wipe them from the local machine directly?
    In any case, this is better accomplished with bash rather than AppleScript.
    Suppose you have a user account called 'John' on the local machine. You'd use
    sudo rm -rf /Users/John/*
    and that would wipe out everything in the users account, but leave the parent directory 'John' in place (and empty).
    The next time you log in to user 'John' on that machine, the OS will recreate default System folders (Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Library, Movies, Music & Pictures).
