Override flash player ESC function in fullscreen?

I have a video player (using a video MC created via the
library and pulling in video via NetConnect) that I have set for
fullscreen using the fullscreen actionscript 2.0 code to set the
stage for fullscreen. (seen below). Once the user goes full screen,
then the controllers I built fade out, new fullscreen controllers
show, then hide via mouse movement / key press and the video scales
by 5%.
When a user presses the ESC key they exit via the built-in
Adobe code for the Player. I have a listener set up (code below)
for the ESC key, which functions AFTER someone exits fullscreen
mode. What I need to have happen is that once someone exits
fullscreen mode via the ESC key the player resizes and the original
controls show....without having to press the ESC key twice. Which
is what happens currently = once to exit (Adobe's code), once to
trigger the listener that tells the video and controllers to do
what they should do (my code).
Possible to override this? Create a unique listener for
whatever ESC code that Adobe uses?
Basically I need a way to trigger the show controls / video
resize once a user goes back to normal mode.
Thanks!

yes, this is for a live site. I found that for some reason
Adobe felt the need to block all code in the name of
security...which is fine but they should have at least allowed
something like a listener to trigger another call.
One thing that I thought could possibly work would be
detecting the stage change...although the first attempt I had at
that didn't do diddly. Seems that if I can at least detect that
Stage["displayState"] == "normal"; then something should work.
I looked around on the Adobe Lab sites for people with
"samples" of the fullscreen script and it looks like nobody else
was trying to set up anything similar, i.e. they stuck with the
"ESC" code that was built-in.
So...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

  • Do I need to pass a applet test with Java before the Flash player will function?

I have downloaded the unstall and install programs for Adobe Flash Player and followed all the steps poster, "eidnolb" noted to prior poster greenie41180 on March 6th,  2010, 8:05PM.   The flash player test did not work.   I also do not see applets, when I use the latest version of Java on an applet test.    I might try reinstalling IE8, or going to IE7 and reinstalling Flash Player.  Gawd!  hours have been used, just trying to get Flash Player going so I can resume watching the tutorials at Mathtutordvd.com.
What other troubleshooting steps can be taken?   I have tried everything eidnolb suggested in prior posts.
Hello everyone, When I try to download the Flash player I get the error message listed above.    I turned off the firewall and virus modes on my TrendMicro protection program, when downloading the player.     I already have Java 6, update 18 in the system.   I restarted the computer.  I also adjusted the configurations for Javascript and ActiveX under the "Tools" menu for the Security and Advanced tabs of Internet options.  I have Windows XP, service pack 3, with Internet Explorer 8.
Also, I tested the recent, most updated program, Java and I still can not see an applet.    I have spent 7 or more hours on this.  I thought initially this process was going to be straight forward.     I desperately need this Flash player so I can learn math at the streaming video site called,  Mathtutordvd.com       Oh! gosh maybe someone here can help me help myself by giving me more troubleshooting steps.  I did follow Adobe's troubleshooting steps, but I still get the same, above error box with,  MSXML2.XSL Template 3.0 (Original exception: undefined)
I hope, eventually to watch the streaming site, once this Flash Player is loaded.   I really do not understand what is going on here.  Thanks for your help.

Hi, May I suggest that you read your previous 3 threads that have been responded to?
You need to stop starting threads, this is the 4th one. You need to stop copying and pasting from the first thread to the new threads that you are starting. It serves no positive purpose.

  • How to get Adobe Flash Player to Function in Explorer 11

I am using Windows 7 64 Bit.  Have Version 16.0.0.305 of Flash Player.  Use Internet Explorer 11.  Have enabled Shockwave Flash Object.  Have cleared Active X Filtering.  Still cannot view all videos on things such as U-Tube or anything on Weather Channel (http://www.weather.com/weather/today/l/Queensbury+NY+12804).  What is wrong?  Thank you.

First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

As snozdop pointed out-Adobe has killed mobile flash for all platforms.

Developers who have a clue are switching over to HTML 5.

  • Flash Player not functioning

I have a laptop, Windows 7 , running IE 9.0. I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed, but it does not seem to be working. When I try to view video sites like USATODAY, the video does not work - or at least, I cant see anything. When i go to check Version of Flash Player installed, it does not show the movie, instead its just a blank square, or no square actually. But I know that Adobe Flash Player is installed. I understand that IE doesnt need plug-ins and the like. Any suggestions ?

  • Quicktime Overriding Flash Player in Firefox 2.0

For the last week, I have been trying to resolve what I thought was a Quicktime issue within Firefox 2.0. When navigating to many sites that had embedded Flash content, a Quicktime logo would appear with a question in front of it. I tried many different solutions to resolve this problem. In the Quicktime player, I unchecked Miscellaneous file formats in from the File Types. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash player (both 8.0 and 9.0).
When I uninstalled the Quicktime player itself, the Flash content played on all websites without problem. However, once I reinstalled Quicktime, the Quicktime logo and questions mark reappeared in the Flash content on the web.
This must mean that the Quicktime player is deactivating the ability for Firefox to recognize Flash content and play Flash content through the appropriate Flash player.
Does anybody know how to re-work or change the parameters of Quicktime to allow Flash content to play as it should?

    On the Mac:
Go to the QuickTime preferences prefpane in System Preferences. In the Advanced tab, click on MIME Settings. In that sheet, under the "Miscellaneous - Miscellaneous file formats" disclosure, make sure that "Flash media" is NOT checked.
    On Windows:
Open QuickTime Player. Go to Edit|Preferences|QuickTime Preferences...
In the Browser tab, click on the MIME Settings button.
Under "Miscellaneous - Miscellaneous file formats" make sure that "Flash Media" is NOT checked.
In both cases, that should cause QuickTime to defer to the Flash plug-in. You'll need to restart the browser for the change to stick.

  • Flash player does not work in full screen

I am not able to get flash player. version 10, to work in full screen with firefox 3.6 on neither Mandriva 2010 or Ubuntu 10.10. I also do not have access to the settings. It is blacked out.

Sometimes disabling Hardware Acceleration in Flash Player Settings helps with fullscreen poblems.
But since you cannot access the Settings, you need to fix that problem first.  On Windows, this can often be fixed by deleting the 'Flash Player' folders in %APPDATA%\Adobe and %APPDATA%\Macromedia.  Unfortunately I do not know where these settings are kept on Linux.

  • Flash Player Crashes In Internet Explorer 8&9 While Playing HD YouTube Video

Has anyone else came across this issue? While on YouTube if you try to play a video in HD, it'll play for a second and then crash. This only happens in Internet Explorer. Any suggestions would be helpful. I have tried many things and this is driving me crazy! Thanks in advence for the input.

So after 4 grueling hours of troubleshooting and trying different fixes, we finally solved the issue. Turns out that we were testing an HD YouTube video just to make sure that Flash Player was functioning without any speakers or headphones plugged in. For some reason when there is no audio device plugged in, the YouTube video starts to play regularly and the reverts to HD. As soon as it changes to HD, it'll crash. Simple as that. So, lesson learned and some advice. Always plug in an audio device. At first when I figured this out, I felt stupid. I then realized that it shouldn't matter if speakers are plugged in or not. A YouTube video should play no matter what if Flash is installed. Anyway, this issue was resolved. Thanks for the input everyone.

  • Adobe Flash Player for mobile (iOS and Android) devices

I have both Apple iOS and Android devices, and can't install Adobe Flash Player on either.  It appears that Adobe no longer provides Flash Player for any mobile devices.  The company I work for uses a a company called Paychex for payroll and time & labor, and that program requires Adobe Flash Player to function.  I am sometimes in areas where I cannot use my computer and must rely on a mobile device to clock in and out, but I can't do that because you have stopped providing the program.  What do I do now?????

iOS has never been compatible with Flash, and per Apple, never will be. It's a lost cause hoping for an iPad Flash Player.
Additionally, Android dropped ALL support for Flash last year. Adobe stopped development of Flash for Android shortly afterward.
See: "Why can't I install Flash Player on my Tablet?" (Kindle or Samsung Galaxy)
The reason both Android and Apple gave for their Flash support decisions is that Flash content is very processor consumptive and it eats battery life in mobile devices.

  • Need help w/adobe flash player, PLEASE

I need help!! I bought my daughter a V-Reader from V-Tech for Christmas and I am trying to get it set up. I have gone through all the steps of trying to upgrade the software. However, when I try to begin the process it is telling me I need to install Adobe Flashplayer. So I go to Adobe & download & install Adobe Flash player 11 ActiveX. However, when I go back to the set up portion of this V-Reader, it is still telling me I need to install Adobe Flash Player. I am so confused & don't know what to do. I am not very computer savy, so whatever help I can get needs to be pretty easy to understand & would be extremely appreciated. I have Windows Vista, I really don't know what else you need to know. Thanks for any & all help.....

Am I correct to assume that you connect that E-reader to your PC, and you need Flash Player on the PC?
Do you know if your Vista is 32-bit or 64-bit?
You mention ActiveX, so you must be using Internet Explorer.  What version do you use, and is it the 32-bit edition or 64-bit edition (Help, About Internet Explorer should tell you that)?
On Internet Explorer 8 or 9, check Tools, Add-ons: do you see Shockwave Flash Object, and is it enabled?
On Internet Explorer 9, check Tools, ActiveX Filtering: is it enabled?  (It must be disabled for Flash Player to function.)

  • How can I activate flash player in firefox

I have downloaded the latest version of Flash Player but it will not activate in Firefox not can I find any means of enabling Flash Player to function in Firefox.
I have looked at all youyr stored help solutions and nothing has helped me.
Enable plugins does not show Flash Player.
    Can you please help?

Did you install the Plugin version of Flash?
You need to download Flash with Firefox. If you would use IE to download Flash, you're liable to get the ActiveX version of Flash.
