Overriding Human Task adding Attachments functionality

Hi,
I am a newbie in Oracle BPM and I'm facing a problem with overriding default funcionality connected with Attachments. I want to add my own code to insert attachment to my table when users upload Attachment. Could anybody give me any advice how to achieve this? I discovered that, when I generated ADF form from Human Task in popup I have Button Update with Value
#{addAttachmentBean.file}. I'm wondering can I just write my own method with insert statement to table and then call {#addAttachmentBean.file} but I don't know how to reference from my Bean to addAttachmentBean. I would be very grateful for any help!
Regards

Ok, I could achieve my functionality using triiggers: Insert - add row to my table; Delete-delete from my table but my tables are in another schema so I prefer to do this by Java Code.
I have also to modify upload subfolder, which is based on year/month/day date.

  • Workflow API: adding and accessing file Attachments to a Human Task

    Hi there,
    I am using the Workflow Services Java API (11.1.1) for SOA Suite to access and manipulate human tasks. I would like to be able to access and add file attachments to existing human tasks. I am using the methods provided in the AttachmentType interface.
    When adding an attachment, the problem I am running into is that an attachment does created and associated with the task, however it is empty and has no content. I have attempted both setting the input stream of the attachment, as well as the content string and in each case have had no success.
    I have successfully added and accessed an attachment using the worklist application, however when trying to access the content of this attachment through code I receive an object with mostly null/0 values throughout, apart from the attachment name.
    As the API's are not overly rich in documentation I may well be using them incorrectly. I would really appreciate any help/suggestions/alternatives in dealing with BPEL task attachments.
    Thanks
    The code I am using resembles:
    List attachments = taskWithAttachments.getAttachment();
    for(Object o : attachments){
    AttachmentType a = (AttachmentType) o;
    String content = a.getContent(); +// NULL+
    InputStream str = a.getInputStream(); +// NULL+
    String name = a.getName(); +// Has the attachment name+
    String mime = a.getMimeType(); +// Has the mime type+
    long size = a.getSize(); +// 0+

  • Error in adding multiple attachments to Human Task in BPM

    Hi
    Hope you are doing fine.
    My version is 11.1.1.5 without Feature Pack.
    I have a scenario where I get a set of documents from UCM, and I have all of them in an array(of type GetFileByIDResult(UCM GetFile Webservice response type)).
    Please note that for a single attachment, I'm not getting this problem.
    I know that ExecData.Attachments[] takes array of Attachment types.
    But I could not create an Attachments[](array type) type data object, What I could create is of type '<>Attachments' which I thought was an array, but not, as it is not letting me associate to ExecData.attachments
    So, I've created a variable of type ExecData(say PDOExecData), used a script task, and did XSLT between the array and this new PDOExecData
    I've used for-each on the arrayOfUCMOutput, mapped the content, name, etc.
    And, now, in the human task association, I've assigned PDOExecData.attachments to Human Task's ExecData.attachments
    But I'm getting the following error
    XPath query string returns multiple nodes. The assign activity part and query bpmn:getDataObject('taskExecData2')/ns:attachment are returning multiple nodes. The assign activity part and query named in the error message returned multiple nodes. It should return single node. According to BPEL4WS specification 1.1 section 14.3, the assign activity part and query named in the error message should not return multiple nodes. Verify the part and xpath query named in the error message at line number -1 in the BPEL source.
    This means htat attachments take a single element, but it should take array of elements, and that is what is showin in the mapper file indicated by attachments[] in the ExecData
    Would you please help me in this regard.
    One possible solution could be, if I'm able to create an array of 'Attachment' type, I could map to it and finally map this var to ExecData.attachments, but how to create an array of a type in BusinessObjects/ProcessDataObjects

  • BPM 11G comments and file attachments issue on human tasks

    Hi all,
    We have used JDeveloper 11G and SOA suite 11G + BPM (with PS1,PS2) to create and deploy a simple BPM process. The process consists of two swim-lanes ( Business Analyst and Snr Executive). The BA swim-lane has a human task which which initiates the process and the second swim-lane (SE) has a voting task. Both forms were auto generated.
    ------ Process steps ----
    step 1. The initiator of the process( Business analyst) submits a document and adds comments on the form. (1st swim lane)
    step 2. The task is received by the Snr Executive group and they need to accept or reject the document.
    step 3. If any of the Snr Execs rejects the document, the process flow goes back to the Business analyst(the requester or initiator) for review.
    (the voting group is able to share comments and the file attachments).
    step 4. The business analyst receives a task on her list. This task list should have the comments made by the Snr Execs who rejected the document. ---This is where we are having a problem. The business Analyst, receives the task, but the document and comments are not updated. This still shows the original document and comments, she sent when initiating the process.
    We have opened a SR with My Oracle support and it was suggested we apply a hot fix 9958661, which was done (see output below). Unfortunately this did not solve the problem.
    Questions:
    1. Is the default behavior of BPM 11G ?
    2. How can we change this behavior to do what we want ?
    ---------------------------------------opatch update output -----------------------------------------------------------
    ApplySession adding interim patch '9958661' to inventory
    Verifying the update...
    Inventory check OK: Patch ID 9958661 is registered in Oracle Home inventory with proper meta-data.
    Files check OK: Files from Patch ID 9958661 are present in Oracle Home.
    The local system has been patched and can be restarted
    I any suggestions would be welcome.
    Thanks
    Mocheche

    Ok, this is what i did:
    - I have a Process Data Object called CustomComments with just 1 attribute called comments.
    - I have added that object to my user screens (adf page)
    - Changed its columns att to 65 and rows to 8 (i chose that layout)
    - Used a tableLayout to add an icon next to this text area to allow the user to add comments:
    <af:commandImageLink shortDesc="addCommentImage" id="addCommentImage" partialSubmit="true" icon="/hw_images/new_ena.png">
         <af:clientListener method="myFunction" type="click"/>
         <af:clientAttribute name="attributeName" value="attributeValue"/>
    </af:commandImageLink>
    I use that clientAttribute to send the logged user to the javascipt.
    - I added this after the af:document on top of the page to make the customComments readonly to the user (you need to do it here because if you set it in the properties the element is not updated later), so the user has to use the button i put to add comments:
    <f:facet name="metaContainer">
         <f:facet name="metaContainer">
         <af:resource type="javascript">
              function readOnly(){
                   var comms = document.getElementById("it1::content");
                   comms.setAttribute("readOnly","true")
         </af:resource>
    </f:facet>
    <af:clientListener method="readOnly" type="load"/>
    - Somewhere i added the javascript the commandLink calls:
    <trh:script id="myScripts">
         function addComment(evt){
              var commentArea = document.getElementById("it1::content");
    var user = evt.getSource().getProperty("user");
    var comm = prompt("Please enter your comment: ","");
              if (comm != null) {
                   if (comm != ""){
                        if (commentArea.value !=""){commentArea.value = commentArea.value + "\n"}
                        commentArea.value = commentArea.value + "user.value" + " : " + comm;
    </trh:script>
    After all this, you have an object that carries the comments from one screen (UI project) to another and is updated each time.
    I know it may not be the perfect solution and that it could be improved a lot, but so far it does what i need so i use it.
    If there is anything i wasnt clear enough, please let me know. Hope this helps.

  • How to specify stylesheet for attachments in Human task

    Dear Experts,
    I can able to add an attachment from BPEL process to Human Task. So from Worklist I can able to download the attachment. Here, I am attaching an XML payload, and I am receiving .xml file from worklist. Now I want to do xsl mapping with my attachment. To do that we have an option when creating Human Task from BPEL . In .task form, under advanced settings--> specify style sheets for attachments, specify wordML for attchments. I have used those options. But not yet my .xsl file mapped with .xml. Is there is any other way to do xsl mapping. Please suggest me.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Hi Anirudh,
    I am using SOA Server suite 10.1.3.1 and JDeveloper 10g. Also I am not using "Application Server Developer's Guide for Microsoft Office Interoperability" this document, what you have mentioned in your last post. My problem is I am having xsl with me, need to map this xsl to my xml attachment. To do that we are having an option on .task form editor, Under Advanced Settings. We can mention/specify stylesheet for attachment, or we can specify wordML for attachment. I have tried both but I cant able to do xsl transformation. I have seen some code in this link. But I dont know whether this blog is correct one. Please suggest me.
    Thanks,

  • Human Task attachments in UCM - 11.1.1.5 pre-FeaturePack release

    Hi
    Hope you are doing fine
    I have a scenario where I want to attach files in email notifications to users as part of a Human task of a BPM Process. The documents are in UCM, and are to be retrieved and attached.
    I've got this post but HumanTask wizard seems different in this post, may be this is later to 11.1.1.5 FeaturePack.
    My Human Task Editor doesn't have a 'Documents' tab.
    I'm pretty new to UCM integration, would you please tell me a step-by-step process to get this requirement done.
    Thanks in advance,
    RaviKiran

    Hi Anuj
    Thanks for the reply.
    No, i don't see any logs in soa-diagonistic.txt
    Also, i have assigned the task to user.I also went to the preferences section and from Notification, i added one more notification and set it as default.
    The email did come but it is not coming from the Human Task notifcation but the channel which i have added.
    In that mail, i get following error

  • Adding custom properties to a human task of a worklist

    How can I add custom properties to a human task of a worklist. I don't know if it is possible. I tried to read the oracle BPEL Process Manager Workflow Services API Reference, but this is unreadable :-). Classes, Methods and Parameters are not commented...
    Moreover where can I find a GOOD description of the Workflow Services API explaining the usage of the classes, methods and their associated parameters ?
    Regards. Yvan

    I means I would like to add some parameters to the task without having to load the payload. I would like for example to use these parameters to do query on worklist. Or may be there is also a mean to do search query on worklist using some values that are into the payload of the tasks. May be you can help me :-)
    Regarding the documentation of the worklist API, it is for me very difficult to understant the role of the method as for example SystemMessageAttributesType.setTextAttribute1() or SystemMessageAttributesType.setNumberAttribute1() and so on, if there is no javadoc available and it is the same thing for all methods of the API :-).
    Definitivly I would like to understand the Task entities and all available properties and action I can apply to it to know excatly what I can do with it. Where can I find this information ?

  • Bypass "Claim" action on a Human Task

    We are going to start user testing of our first BPEL process. The human tasks are set up to have a single approver, but they are assigned to a group of users. The users want to know if there is a way to by-pass having to claim the task, so that just one user could select the outcome they want without first having to claim the task. Is that possible, or must a task first be claimed by one of the people in the group before the actual outcome can be selected?
    Bonnie

    To achieve this functionality I am afraid you must modify worklist application code. I faced the same requirement some time ago, I simply modified dropdown box so that it alway displayed actions and before update on task added code that claimed task for user performing update.

  • Query on rendering the Human Tasks in the customized GUI application.

    Hi All,
    In oracle11g BPEL, Is there any way to render the Human Tasks in the Customized GUI (Weblogic Portal) application rather that using the applications like "Oracle BPM WorkList"?. Does the Oracle11g BPEL supports this ?. My requirement is that, i need to render the Human tasks inside my own GUI application. I do not want to allow the end user of my application to use the other GUI applications like Work List to wotk up on the human tasks. Instead of this, User must be able to access and work up on the BPEL human tasks through my Customized GUI (Weblogic Portal) application. Is there any way in Oracle11g BPEL to achieve the required functionality?.

    Hi Naga
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/apirefs.1111/e10660/toc.htm
    1. I would not recommend using APIs unless and otherwise if you do not have any other option. You can always create the TaskForms in your own custom pages using out of box generated bindings for each .TASK file. This gives more flexibility. There are lots of stuff associated with a Task apart from your own custom payload like full Task details, system attributes, headers, history, comments/attachments etc. You do not want to use APIs to get all these.
    The below 2 links should give you an overview of overall architecture of a Workflow and TaskForms.
    Re: Integrating BPM taskflows into an ADF application
    Re: deploying a large Oracle BPM Application with multiple UI projects
    Re: What exactly 'PAYLOAD' Means???
    Once you have basics covered, refer oracle docs also that shows how to reuse a single project.

  • Add a Human Task in BPEL but it shows as an Auto Task in BPA

    Hi, all,
    I create a BPMN flow in BPA and mapping to BPEL. And I add a Human Task in jDeveloper, and saved back to BPA server. But the problem is the updated BPMN flow shows that I added a Auto Task in BPA. Could you help me on that? Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Bill

    Hi Bill,
    Prefatory a quick intro on the basic idea of the BPA concept and a few personal recommendations. In general all changes on the control flow should be initiated top-down from the business process, which means your requirement becomes relevant only in certain cases. If the refinement of the BPEL process is going beyond the technical implementation, then the BPMN diagram itself needs to be corrected. That being said, in certain cases it may be sensible to make use of the improvement proposal feature (e.g. the IT developer recognizes the need of an additional service invocation, so that the control flow of the business process has to be refined).
    Referring to your issue these changes are displayed as Automated Activities (abstract) in the superior business process (in BPA). For this reason some activities require a different approach when it comes to accepting or rejecting by the business users. The description below provides an overview about how-to add activities in BPEL subsequently (as improvement proposals) and how they will be represented in the superior business process after synchronization (personal recommendations).

    Open the improvement proposal model and select the new activity. Go to Format/Representation and select 'Notification' in the Symbol-dropdown list - the object appearance changes.

  • "Reassign" and "Adhoc Route" Actions in human tasks

    Has anyone run into oddities when using either the "Reassign" or "Adhoc Route" actions from within a task in the BPM workspace?
    When I try to re-assign to a different participant, it seems the assignment gets lost altogether. The task history section on the task form shows the particpant went from the user I was logged in as and performed the reassign action to a "blank" participant on the next row. The Action column next to the blank participant shows "System Update" and the updated by column shows the participant from the previous row.
    When I attempt to Adhoc Route, I select the participant to send to (via the search and moving them from the LHS to RHS of the shuttle widget) and add my comment - but when I click OK it doesn't go anywhere. The screen updates and the task history shows a new row indicating a comment was added, but not the adhoc routing assignment. It just stays in the current assignment as if nothing changed except the comment.

    It also seems that the "Edit Routing Slip" option isn't functioning properly. If you go into a human task and click the "edit" pencil next to the "Task will go from starting to final participant" and check "Allow participants to edit new participants" then when you view the task within workspace the routing slip within the "History" section will appear with buttons to add/remove/edit rows in addition to an "Apply" and "Reset" button. However the add/remove/edit icons are always disabled. I tried with a participant within the routing slip, the Process Owner as well as an administrative user, but the results were the same. Am I doing this incorrectly?
    Are these bugs or have these features not yet been implemented?

  • Human Task & Notification Services

    Hi! i have a little question about Human Task and Notification Services.
    I have a Human Task with an outcome OK/CANCEL actions, reading the 10.1.3 Dev Guide chapter 15 about notification services, i found an excellent feature i want to use, in the task definition if i mark the "make email messages actionables" checkbox, the user assignee to the task will receive an email with the two outcoume options of the task, the OK/CANCEL already defined, i need to change the wf_config.xml to define <actionableEmailAccountName> tag to configure this functionality, but there is no documentation about how to configure this file, and checking the checkbox there is no changes on the mail message sent to the user, checking or not the option i always get the same email with two attachments, one with a link to the worklist and another one with the payload of the task.
    How can i configure the mail notification to enable the links to my outcome actions?
    any help, advice and guide is welcome!!!
    best regards and blesses!

    Hi Ravikumar! thanks for the reply.

  • Would you Open and Close DAQmx tasks within a function or Globally

    Hi Guys,
    This should start something.
    The subject is DAQmx Tasks.
    If you were writing a function that is called many times, say MeasureVolts (double *Value) to obtain a reading from an Analogue Input Channel.
    Would you.
    1. open and start the task inside the function, do the measurement and then close the task inside the same function.
    or
    2. open the task globally and later do the measurement inside the function using the global task then close the task only when the application is closed.
    I am mostly concerned with the overhead of task generation and closing, what do you guys and girls out there do?? and what is the general opinion?
    I would appreciate your views.
    Regards
    Paul.

    I would definitely NOT keep configuring and clearing (I think that's what you mean by open and close) the same task over and over.  I would configure once, read many times in my main app, then stop & clear once.
    I typically like to package such data acq into an "Action Engine" that keeps track of its own DAQmx task id so I don't need to sling that task id wire around into multiple parallel loops / vi's.  Attached is a very stripped-down example for Digital Input.
    I would typically do more with error testing and would make the "Action" enum into a typedef custom control, but this gives you the basic idea.  The action engine approach works very nicely when there's a small # of different kinds of input parameters and output info needed to support all the necessary action cases.   When you start needing a large number of differnent kinds of inputs and outputs to support the desired actions, then you start having difficulty with (1) having enough terminals to wire and (2) remembering which inputs and outputs are meaningful for which actions.
