Overwriting the ALV refresh method

Hello Gurus, i need to refresh my ALV after modifications in the database. Can i overwrite the refresh method ? because i have to refresh the internal table too.
The refresh button won`t work.

If you are using the function module ALV, you need to set the REFRESH flag in the USER_COMMAND routine. HEre is an example.

    When looking at this code, the following question occurred to me:
    <b>Question: How does check_changed_data know the itab to bring the changed back to, since it is called in the PAI with no arguments.</b>
    The only answer I can see is that when the grid is first loaded in the PBO of BCALV_EDIT_03 in the usual way:

    the ABAP OO engine implicitly "binds" the back-end table gt_outtab to the ALV contol (i.e. the instance of CL_GUI_ALV_GRID that the program creates.)
    So, if you answer this question, please do one of two things:
    a) confirm that check_changed_data "knows" the correct itab to bring the data back to because the ABAP OO engine has, in fact, implicitly "bound" the control to the itab gt_outtab;
    or
    b) if this is not true, explain how check_changed_data knows what itab to bring the data back to.

    I have modified my previous sample report again to +demonstrate +that the
    grid instance knows exactly which itab is displayed. Unfortunately it is already a few years ago when I attended the excellent SAP course BC412 (Dialog Programming using EnjoyControls, held by a chinese SAP employee with a beautiful Palatine dialect). Thus, I +cannot explain +the technical details (which are somehow related to the automation queue and the control framework). 
    Here are the new modifications:
    (1) Inbetween the data definitions and the local class definition I have added two parameters:

    Now the crucial point is that the globally visible itab gt_outtab is passed
    (a) by value to method g_grid->set_table_for_first_display (routine CREATE_AND_INIT_ALV_BYVAL)
    (b) by reference to method g_grid->set_table_for_first_display (routine CREATE_AND_INIT_ALV_BYVAL)
    If you run the report with the default (p_byref = 'X') then the report behave exactly like the original sample report.
    However, if you choose p_byval = 'X' then the reports dumps as soon as you try to change the values of the ALV list (e.g. change a planetype and hit ENTER or even sorting is sufficient).
    Why? The itab passed by value to the grid instance is not the same like gt_outtab!
    Conclusion: Do not try to fool the grid instance...

    i have alv report is displaying  2 columns material and rate.
    i want to get only top 50 rate along with material  on the same screen  as we do similar thing in Tcode MC.5 pressing top n.

  • ALV OO and refreshing the ALV grid

    Hi,
    i have some problems with my ALV 00 program.
    On screen 1 i have to fill in a material number.
    For that material i'm getting some data and show in screen 2 in a ALV grid.
    Via BACK-button i'm getting back to screen 1 and can fill in another material number.
    But the 2nd (and 3rd, etc) time i fill a material, the ALV grid data from material 1 is shown. Even if the internal table I_ALV where the data is, is changed.
    What should i do ?
    I have initialized the customer container and the grid, but that didn't solved the problem.

    Try clearing and refreshing the alv grid data table in screen 2.
    Check with this code. this code is working fine. If we go back and change the input, it is showing the output corresponding to the second input only.

  • How to refresh the ALV Tree

    Hi,
    I have an ALV Tree report developed using the OOPS. In my ALV Tree output, I have some buttons which will update the database after clicking. The data is correctly updating in the database. But, it is not getting updated in the ALV Tree display. That means, it is not REFRESHing the ALV Tree display. We have to again execute the program in order to see the updated output.
    Could anyone please suggest me how to Refresh the ALV Tree display..?
    We can't use the method 'REFRESH_TABLE_DISPLAY' as it is a PRIVATE method is the class CL_GUI_ALV_TREE.
    Please share your valuable thoughts.

  • ALV refresh with the Old Data

    Hi All,
    I have a question with OO ALV. I have an Editable ALV output which contains around 10 fields. In the output the User can Edit/Insert/Delete the Records, and on the application tool bar I have a button (CHANGE)by which the user can swtich between the change and display mode of ALV.
    Once the ALV list is displayed, when the user click on change the output is open for Editing. Lets say the user deletes the record, and again clicks on the change(which should take to display) by giving the message "Changes made will be lost" and the old data should get displayed.
    The logic i followed is,
    1. displayed the ALV.

        EXPORTING
          it_toolbar_excluding = gt_exclude

    Hi,
    This mean to say that if you have a 'refresh' push button in your gui status, every time you press the button, the list should get refreshed.
    In ALV, to refresh the table you have to call the method "refresh_table_display". 
    It has the syntax very similar to creating the table. 
    It has two parameters. In the first one, you can mention if you want to refresh only the data (the icons are not refreshed) 
    or 
    if you want to refresh only the icons around the grid (the data is not refreshed - this option is mostly not used in day to day applications).
    the synatx is :-
    call method grid (name of grid )->refresh_table_display
    exporting
    IS_STABLE = <STRUCT OF TYPE LVC_S_STBL> (THIS IS FOR DATA REFRESHING)

    I have a selection screen and ALV control in webdydnpro report. If i enter valid input values in the selection screen the ALV contol is diplaying datas correctly but when i enter invalid data in the selection screen the ALV table control values still diplaying in the previous datas. I need to Refresh the ALV contol values once the incorrect data enter in the selection screen. How can i REFRESH the ALV control in Webdynpro report. I have Refreh button in the Selection screen when you press REFRESH button the ALV table control data should be initilize  Kindly help me out this issue.

    Hi.
    You have a selection screen where user can enter some data, with this data you
    perform a selection and then you bind the result to the ALV, right?
    Question is how you bind the result to ALV? Do you use external context mapping
    or the set_data method ?
    So I guess you have a method where you validate the select options and if they
    are correct you perform the selction and bind the result to the node for the ALV. If
    the select options are incorrect you just need to get the node for the ALV (which contains the
    previous result )and call the invalidate method on that node which deletes all
    elements of this node and after that the ALV should be empty again.

  • ALV Tree list output using the Class and method

    Hi,
    How to get the internal table values of ALV Tree List in classes.
    My requirement is i need to store the output values in Ztable of a SAP Transaction of CK86_99.
    for this, i copied the SAP Standard Transaction into Z tcode and i am trying to poplulate the output display into Ztable. But this standard tcode CK86_99 is using the classes of ALV tree list to display output.

    CONSTRUCTOR - method
    Finally in the above mentioned method, i am able to see the output values of ALV tree list in the internal table of mt_output_table.
    But these are SAP Standard Class and method.
    My doubt is, How to get these internal table values in my Zprogram.
    is there any user exit or badi can we use in the method of class???? Actually my system is 4.6C
    Please suggest me on this problem.

    First your getInstance() method returns 'singleton' which you havent declared/init anywhere.
    your getAll() method needs to be static if you need to call it the way you are doing.
    In your getAll() method u are passing a parameter called patientRecord ... where have you declared/init it.
    i think you have to do something like this ... if i have understood you correctly.

  • Overwriting the keyPressed() and keyReleased()methods within a TextBox

    Dear All,
    I have written a simple predictive text midlet by overwriting the keyPressed() and keyReleased() methods (found in the TextBox class). This is fine and works perfectly when I emulate the midlet on my pc. However, when I transfer the midlet to my mobile, the existing predictive text system takes over and as my midlet acts only as a standard TextBox. Is I turn off prediction, then the TextBox acts as if I had not overwritten those methods! Does anybody know how to stop this from happening?

    I think something is going wrong in your code, 'cause the TextBox doesn't provide the key listener methods that you have overwritten..these methods are declared in the Canvas class..
    May you show some code to let me see what are you program really doing?

  • Change of count on the header on filtering the ALV

    Hi Gurus!
    I have this ALV report which gives the sales order report, in the output right on the top the report shows the count of all the distinct sales order displayed when the report is run based ona  selection criteria. Is it possible to show the total count of teh sales order in the report to change and show teh number of distinct sales doc when we use filter on teh report. Suppose if we run the report based on a particular selection criteria and it gives a count of 30 . In the output if we put filter on a particular column and the report shows fewer lines , which will reduce the number of sales doc, is it possible to show this number which for eg will be say 20 , is it possible to show the number 20 after filetr on ALV instead of that 30 remainiung constant. I am wanting the report to show the change in count of distinct sales doc when I put filter on any columnh.

    I have used all the FM modules mentioned but I am not able to get the total of the sales doc on the top of the page to chnage when filtering of data is done . I just want to see this count of sales document (distict ) and to see it change as filtering is done , be it at any place in teh ALV , its not necessary that it has to be on the top of the ALV output. Could I get some inputs please. As you can see I used the below mentioned FM but on debugging I find the gt_stack is empty still.

  • Running the alv report  in  background and sending it thro email

          i have to run the  alv report in background and send the output through email

    Hi
    Many a times there is a requirement to display ALV Grid (not ALV List) in the background Job. I have checked the SDN Forum for the same and it has been mentioned that ALV Grid cannot be displayed in Background, but the list output of ALV is possible. So user won’t have the actual Grid interface but the List interface.
    There is a workaround to display ALV Grid in Background Job. The only restriction is you can’t schedule the job through SM36. You need to execute the transaction of the report program, fill in the selection screen data and hit Execute.
    The job would be executed in background. User will be able to see the Job Log and Job Status after executing the program. User doesn’t have to go to SM37 to view the job status/log. Once the Job Status is changed to “COMPLETED”, user can click on “DISPLAY SPOOL” to view the ALV Grid.
    Limitations:
    Can’t schedulea background job
    The session should be active until the background job is completed. If the session is closed, then user won’t be able to check the output in ALV Grid. User would be able to check the output through spool or SM37
    Advantages:
    If the spool width is greater than 255 characters, then the entire width could be seen in the output because the output is directed to an ALV Grid and not to spool
    Interface of ALV Grid is available instead of ALV List even though it’s a background job.
    Program won’t give the TIME OUT error
    Steps Required:
    1. Once you execute the program, the following screen would be displayed
    2. Click “Display Job Status” to check the Status of the Background Job
    3. Click on “Display the Job Log” to check the Log
    4. Click on “Display Job Status” to check the Job Status
    5. Click on “DISPLAY SPOOL” to check the spool content once the Job Status is changed to “COMPLETED”. Output is displayed in ALV Grid
    Programs:
    1.  Two different programs needs to be created
    ZPROGRAM_ONE: This is the 1st program, where the selection screen and all the data validations would be done. Error handling for invalid data should be done in this program.
    Once the data validation is done, this program would call the 2nd program ZPROGEAM_TWO. Build the logic to display ALV Grid in this program. The logic will only display ALV in foreground and it won’t be reflected in the spool.
    ZPROGRAM_TWO: This program would fetch all the data and do all the processing. If you want the spool output along with ALV Grid output, then build the logic in this program to display ALV Grid.

  • Problem with the ALV after sending the mail

    Good Morning Experts
    I have a small issue with the ALV. I have a program, which has to sent email. In My program initially I am displaying basic list in the alv and user can navigate to secondary list also, by clicking on a contract number in the basic list.
    I gave a tool button in the tool bar to the user in the basic list, to send the mail. When the user clicks on the I have to send the mail both the lists, basic list and seconday list in the mail as separate attachments.
    Mail is going fine and later if the user chooses to see any contract in detail(Secondary List), that time ALV giving dump with message type X. And it is stopping some where in the ALV code
