OWB 10.2

I've heard about a beta program for owb. There should exist an owb version 10.2. Where can I find a download for this version?
Regards
Martin

There is no production 10.2 version of OWB. The current beta program for 10.2 has been closed for several months. The production release for 10.2 is scheduled for the first half of 2006.
Hope this helps,
Keith

  • Error while deploying a workflow in OWB

    Hi,
I am getting the below error while deploying a workflow in Control Center.
ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.sql.SQLException: The file /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/dbhome_1/owb/bin/admin/rtrepos.properties cannot be accessed or has not been properly created on the server XXXXXX. If the file does not exist or if the database owner (normally user 'oracle') does not have the required file permissions or if the file has not been properly created then the file can be recreated by running the SQL*Plus script /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/dbhome_1/owb/rtp/sql/reset_repository.sql (in a RAC environment the file must be manually copied to each server which is used for OWB). Otherwise if using a 10.2 database instance, then please run the SQL*Plus script /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/dbhome_1/owb/UnifiedRepos/reset_owbcc_home.sql.
Did any one faced this issue before?
Kindly let me know the steps to resolve the issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi Vidyanand,
Did you create the runtime access user using the runtime assistant? Did you select the correct runtime repository (if you have more) to associate your runtime access user with?
Note that there are 4 database roles being created when you create a runtime repository owner:
    - OWB_A_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_D_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_R_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_U_<runtime repository owner>
If you would grant those roles to a user, then that user becomes an access user for the user with username <runtime repository owner>.
Note that you can also use the runtime repository credentials to connect to the runtime repository for deployment purposes, but you may not want that because of security concerns.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

  • Error in installing a new Repository in OWB 10g Release 2

    Hi,
I am facing a consistent problem in creating a new repository, even after uninstalling and re-installing the OWB client many times. While creating a repository, I get the following three errors, after which the Repository Assistant automaticlly shuts down:
    1. The wizard noticed that the installation parameter 'enqueue_resources' of the database GRUSIT is set to 968. The recommended value for Warehouse Builder is 3000.
2.The Warehouse Builder repository owner installation failed on user REPOWNER.

Could you pls help me in resolving this issue?
    Thanks in advance,

Does this mean, ... we have to install the OWB 64 bit and install a new repository in the 64 bit server? In my opinion you don't need to create new repository.
After migrating database to 64bit perform steps from Metalink note 434272.1 "How To Update Warehouse Builder 10.2 After A Database Cloning".
It is better to save the same path for new OWB 64bit software. If you install OWB into different path you need to update OWBRTPS table with new path to OWB software (look at metalink note 550271.1).

  • Error while installing OWB

    Error while installing OWB
    after 50% install.. it says
"Error in writing to file c:\oracle\ora9201\bin\oci.dll
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"
Apparently I have restarted the workstation and closed all oracle related services in services and no other program is running expect the installer.
Can any one help in resolving the issue. Or can I hit the ignore button and continue installing?

Always install OWB into a new ORACLE_HOME unless the Installation and Configuration Guide states otherwise. This has only happened twice. OWB 9.0.2.62.3 was the last version to allow installation into an existing ORACLE_HOME. Another thing you can do is go to www.sysinternals.com and download the utility LISTDLLs. It is great. From a command prompt, start it with the syntax: listdlls >log.txt
This will output the DLLs in use and which executable is using it. Search for the DLL in the log.txt and scroll up until the double line. The executable name locking the DLL will be above the double line. If you have the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator Service running on the client, it will lock Oracle DLLs. This has been a common issue in the past, going back to the days of Data Mart Suite. This was documented in the Release Notes for it and may still be in the system in a note somewhere. It is in: DMS: Unable To Install; Filesopen/Service Running On Compaq Server Doc ID: Note:1080977.6 and Certain Files which need to be Reinstalled are Being Used Doc ID: Note:117672.1
The first note I wrote back before 2000.

Please help me regarding this. I am new to the owb 11g.

Thanks for you reply. Still I can't view the data. Actually what i did is imported a .csv file using files then created a external table configured , validated and deployed. In next step created a mapping with this excel this using table operator validated and genrated code. In next step using the control center manager i deployed it. But i can't view the data still in the external table.
Is this procedure is correct for loading the excel sheet in to databse. My client environment is on windows xp and database is on linux environment.

  • OWB Process/Workflow in third party Workflow engines

Have any of you had experience using the XPDL file generated by the Process flow component of OWB to execute the Workflow in non-oracle Commercial and/or Open source Workflow engines?

    Hi ,
What is your OWB version ?
If it is 10.2 then read the following
With Warehouse Builder 10.2.0.X, the Repository Browser Listener is only supported on Windows x86-32bit and linux x86-32bit client machine.
So start the Warehouse Builder Repository Browser Listener on Windows/Linux x86-32bit client machine
For 11g refer MOS Note 469422.1

  • Send email from OWB with authenticated SMTP server (AUTH_LOGIN)

    Hi all,
I want to send email from Oracle Warehouse Builder 11.2.0.2 using a SMTP server with basic authentication (AUTH_LOGIN).
I've created an ACL for OWBSYS user according to note ID 1229769.1 in support.oracle.com.
But, I need to configure again the ACL to connect to the SMTP server using user and password.
I read the article in metalink, *How to Send an Email Using SMTP over an SSL Connection [ID 1323140.1]*+
but I don't know how can I configure again the ACL for use in OWB.
How OWB is able to authenticate with the SMTP server?

  • How to use the Table Function defined  in package in OWB?

    Hi,
I defined a table function in a package. I am trying to use that in owb using Table function operator. But I came to know that, owb R1 supports only standalone table functions.
Is there any other way to use the table function defined in a package. As like we create synonyms for functions, is there any other way to do this.
I tryed to create synonyms, it is created. But it is showing compilation error. Finally I found that, we can't create synonyms for functions which are defined in packages.
Any one can explain it, how to resolve this problem.
    Thank you,
    Regards
    Gowtham Sen.

    Hi Marcos,
    Thank you for reply.
OWB R1 supports stand alone table functions. Here what I mean is, the table fucntion which is not inculded in any package is a stand alone table function.
    for example say sample_tbl_fn is a table function. It is defined as a function.It is a stand alone function. We call this fucntion as "samp_tbl_fn()";
For exampe say sample_pkg is a package. say a function is defined in a package.
then we call that function as sample_pkg.functionname(); This is not a stand alone function.
    I hope you understand it.
    owb supports stand alone functions.
Here I would like to know, is there any other way to use the functions which are defined in package. While I am trying to use those functions (which are defined in package -- giving the name as packagename.functionname) it is throwing an error "Invalid object name."
Here I would like know, is there any other way to use the table functions which are defined in a package.
    Thank you,
    Regards,
    Gowtham Sen.

  • Can we use OWB dimesnions in OBIEE ?

    Hi all,
Iam new to OBIEE reporting. Can any one of the experts clarify my question?
    1. As per requirement Developing the Dimensions in OWB, can we use them in OBIEE 11g and am I goin to get the funcatinality of drill down. Or do we need to create seperate dimensions in OBIEE. Do we have any document for this?
    2. If answer is yes, then what is the use of creating dimensions in OWB.
    Thanks & Regards,

The topics of this forum are the PL/SQL and SQL languages in the Oracle server.
What are the PL/SQL and/or SQL language problems in your question? Can you be more specific?
Else you would be better served by asking your question in a more appropriate OTN forum.

  • How to model in OWB if you have a subquery in your select statement? (11.2)

Which operator (is it the Table operator) to use if I have a subquery as part of my select statement? (The way I do it works, but is not elegant. What I do is create a table for the subquery and than join that with the other sources to point to my target.) But, would appreciate the best way with OWB's features.
Here is the entire SQL (including the subquery):
    SELECT to_numbe (null), course_id
    at.book, lp.NAME,
    (select b.pricing from qp_pricing_attributes b
    where b.list_id = ll.list_id and b.product = at.product) sign,
    ll.operand AS price, lhb.comments
    FROM
    pricing_attribs at,
    list_lines ll,
    list_h lp,
    list_b lhb
    WHERE 1 = 1
    and ll.list_line_id = atrib.list_line_id
    AND ll.list_header_id = lp.list_header_id
    AND lp.list_header_id = lhb.list_header_id
    Thanks you.

    Hi
    Doesn't need to be a table in the target. Let's take a very simple example, let's say you wanted to do the following;
select ename,(select dname from dept d where d.deptno=e.deptno) from emp e
Then DEPT is your lookup table and EMP is your driving table.
    1. Add EMP on to the canvas.
    2. Add in lookup operator
    3. Bind lookup to DEPT
    4. Hit finish
    5. Map EMP.DEPT to DEPT.INGRP1 (the lookup operator)
    6. Edit lookup operator, on Lookup Conditions tab set DEPTNO for lookup column, and DEPTNO for input attribute
    7. Lookup complete now
You can add in a target table operator and map from the source EMP table and the output attributes of the lookup operator. you can change step 4 to carry on through wizard and define lookup, but I have chosen to do 5, to automatically get the names and datatypes of the inputs. There are lot of other options now in 11gR2 in the lookup.
    Hope this makes sense.
    Cheers
    David

  • Is this a bug in OWB 11.2 - importing table metadata for character columns

The Oracle® Warehouse Builder Data Modeling, ETL, and Data Quality Guide provides an overview of the data types supported.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/owb.112/e10935/orcl_data_objx.htm
It says that for VARCHAR2 data type it saws (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/owb.112/e10935/orcl_data_objx.htm#CHDFIADI )
"Stores variable-length character data. How the data is represented internally depends on the database character set. The VARCHAR2 data type takes a required parameter that specifies a maximum size up to 4,000 characters"
That means , I guess, it says that when I import a table, any columns of type VARCHAR2(10) in the database should have its length show as characters in OWB, so a column of type Varchar2(10) in the Oracle database, should be shown as Varchar2(10) when imported into OWB table metadata via the OWB import function.
However, if I have a database that set-up as a single-byte and import a table using the OWB import function a column that has a size of e.g. 10 in the database, is imported as OWB table metadata and the size is 10. Correct, I am happy.
However, if the database is modified to support multi-byte characters, ALTUF16 encoding with the semantics set to "CHAR", then when I import the same table into OWB, OWB reports the size as 40, I guess its 40 bytes as in 10 characters @ 4 bytes per character.
Is this a bug in OWB, as the datatype in the Oracle DB is varchar2(10), should OWB after importing a table not also report the column as VARCHAR2(10) ? Currently, is shows the column as varchar2(40).

I noticed that myself in our project.
Our varchars2 are defined as VARCHAR2(xxx CHAR) - OWB puts the size*4
In fact if you have special characters like umlauts (ü,ä,ö,...) it will use 4 bytes per character.
You can try it yourself. Define a Varchar2(1 CHAR) and manually change the size of the Column in your mapping inside OWB (in filters, joins or your target table).
Then shoot an umlaut through the mapping and will end up with a "too small" error.
Dont mind the size*4 issue - we totally ignored it and run without error since 4 years now.
