[OWB 11.1.0.7.0]: Null Pointer during the creation of a table object

Hello,
I have a very serious problem during our migration to Oracle 11.
After installing the database, creating the owb repository schema and starting the owb client, I tried to create a simple table and got a null pointer exception (see below). I also imported some data from our productive enviroment with Oracle 10, just to have some tables in the owb enviroment. Unfortunatley the same exception is thrown when I am trying to open the editor window for the data object.
The system is:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008
- Oracle Database / OWB Repository Client and Server 11.1.0.7.0
A complete reinstallation of the database software did not help, the error is reproduceable.
Unfortunately metalink could not help us eather, no one seems to have this problem so far. Currently there are two occurances of the error API5072:
API5072 When Attempting to Open Control Center Manager
API5072 Error When Deploying Process Flow to Two Different Workflow Schema Installed On The Same Database Instance
The problem I have is independent of the workflow schema (it happens with and without a workflow schema) and is independent of the locale.
There seems to be no patch and I am running out of ideas. Can anyone thinks of anything I can try to get the system running?
Tank you!
Markus Schneider

Hi
Connect in SQLPLUS as the repository owner and use the OWB_HOME/owb/rtp/sql/service_doctor.sql script to check the status of the Control Center Service.
If still does not work .
Try to restart the database.
that is the last option.

  • How do I get the rotate tool to default locate the pivot point in the exact center of an object or group of objects?

    My new copy of CC has the default pivot point set to one side, rather than the center. I know I can manually move the pivot point around, but this is not always exact. Is there a way to have AI determine the exact center and then make this the default?

    We are not talking about the Reference Points in the Transform palette, are we?
    In any case, you may consider the list.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you may find the folder here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustrator.html
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Null Pointer Exception when working with editable tables

    We are using editable tables in various places in forms that are embedded in views in our application.
    A few weeks ago we have discovered that we receive an exception when first clicking into an editable cell (see below). I can't exactly pinpoint when this started happening (might have been when updating from Luna SR1 to Luna SR2 but I am not sure) but I am certain that we didn't used to have this issue in the beginning.
    Is this something, others are also experiencing? Is this an issue of forms that use DISPLAY_HINT_VIEW (we don't have any editable tables in popup forms)?

    I experienced the same issue with editable boolean cells.
    Left mouse click events produce the mentioned Exception, which causes the mouse down event to be lost. The mouse up event is still fired though, thereby it's possible that the value of another cell in the same row is updated as the contextColum, which is set by the mouse down event, hasn't been updated.
    Right mouse click events work as expected.

  • Why delete [appserverdomain]/null folder during the Livecycle Es4 configuration

    Deploying LiveCycle EARs
    This operation may take several minutes to complete. When the deployment has completed successfully, click
     Next.
    Note:  After this step, ensure that you stop the managed server, node manager, and admin server, and then start them in the reverse order. Ensure that a directory named adobe is created in [appserverdomain] after the restart. This is required so that the [appserverdomain]/null directory does not get created, which can lead to the run time issues. Delete the [appserverdomain]/null directory if it gets created.
    ❖ On the Deploy LiveCycle ES4 EARs screen, select the EAR files to deploy and then click Deploy
    Why is that folder created if we just delete it and why do we delete it?  The null folder has an abobe folder in it that looks identicle to the [appserverdomain]/adobe.

    This issue does not occur when deploy the EARs manually.
    It occurs intermittently when deploying the EARs using LCM and it is specific to Weblogic only. Reason behind this is Weblogic (as opposed to JBoss and Websphere) does not guarantee a particular start-up order of WARs within an EAR.
    The initialization does rely on a particular start-up order.
    Thus the null folder gets created sometimes.
    Hence it is always suggested to restart the server in a particular order to ensure that intialization happens properly. In case the [appserverdomain]/null directory gets created earlier, remove it.
    Hope this answers your question.

    The task parameters passed into a scheduled job are the parameters defined for the scheduled task definition in the metadata xml and configured in the scheduled job. They are not the data of an individual user as you seem to be trying to get. In a scheduled task I would expect some sort of search for users to operate on.

  • PostBuild - null pointer exception

    Hi,
    I have implemented the postbuild method in a DescriptorEventListener object as shown below. This listener is attached to a object built by toplink.
    When the toplink object is being built this postbuild method spawns a query that retrieves a vector of objects (see below). When the vector is returned I extract the objects from the list and use them.
    The creation of these toplink objects is part of a batch process that uses four threads and a single ServerSession.
    A problem occurs on rare occasions as part of the batch while reading through the vector a null pointer exception is thrown. Because this happens so infrequently it is difficult to analyze.
    public class BMEventHandler implements DescriptorEventListener
    public void postBuild (DescriptorEvent event)
    ExpressionBuilder builder = new ExpressionBuilder();
    Expression expression = null;
    expression = builder.get("m_id").equal(11);
    java.util.Vector V1
    = event.getSession().readAllObjects
    (BMCode.class, expression);
    for (int i=0; i<V1.size();i++)
    BMCode aBMCode = (BMCode)V1.get(i);
    if ((aBMCode.getCode().equals("B")) //NullPointer
    A null pointer is thrown on this last if statement indicating that either aBMCode is null or the String returned by getCode is null. In fact, neither should be null and when the process is rerun the problem does not reoccur.
    Is there anything I should be considering when using this postbuild method so as to avoid this situation. Could there be any Threading concerns.
    Thanks
    Mark

    Your provided event method should be free from any concurrency issues. I would recommend breaking the
    aBMCode.getCode().equals("B") call into 2 calls to verify what exactly is null.

    Hi dheeraj_chd,
    I never got a reply to this so to move forward I actually incorporated the Sphinx4 speech recognition program into my project. I do not know if this is any help to you but I got it up and running OK with it.
    http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/sphinx4/
    I hope this helps. It does dramatically increase the size of the application you are writing but at least it works!
    Cheers

  • Null pointer..moving

    I have to drag and drop counters on a screen, i have to drop them on the rectangle, so i cant drag outside the rectangle. this is the code i have , i have a null pointer at the int current = find(e.getPoint());
    its the find method it has the problem with. i dont think the code would work anyway.
    so does any1 have any modifications they would make
    please help.
    thanx
    public int find(Point2D p)
    for (int i = 0; i < this.rectangles.size(); i++)
    Rectangle2D r = (Rectangle2D)rectangles.get(i);
    if (r.contains(p)) return i;
    return -1;
    private class MouseHandler extends MouseAdapter
         public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e)
                   int current = find(e.getPoint());
         x = e.getX();
    y = e.getY();
    private class MouseMotionHandler
              implements MouseMotionListener{
    public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent e)
    if (find(e.getPoint()) == -1)
    setCursor(Cursor.getDefaultCursor());
    else
    setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor
    (Cursor.CROSSHAIR_CURSOR));
         public void mouseDragged(MouseEvent e)
         if (current != null)
              x = e.getX();
              y = e.getY();
              repaint();

    I doubt that e is null, so it must be something in the find method that throws a NullPointerException.
    My guess is that either you have null values in rectangles or rectangles itself is null.

  • HT203164 I tried my first Windows CD burn with iTunes; the burn fails at different points in the burn with error codes 4450 or 4280.

    I tried my first Windows CD burn with iTunes; the burn fails at different points during the burn, with error codes 4450 or 4280.

    I have the same problem, after years of everything working great. Last time this happened I tried using a different brand of CD and it worked, but I must warn you that now iTunes rejects all three brands I have been trying to use.

  • How do I verify that I don't last any point during acquisition?

    Hello,
    I need to make a continuous data acqusition using NI PXIe 5162 card it's why I wonder if there is a property node in labview or a program that shows if I lost any point during the acqusition??
    I really need the answer !! thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hajar8,
    When you start an acquisition, all the samples are stored into onboard memory in a circular buffer.  You then use "niScope Fetch" to request the data from memory, and the samples are sent via DMA to the host and to your application.  Since the buffer is a circular buffer, if you don't fetch the records fast enough (or the sample rate is too fast), then its possible for the acquisition to fill up the entire onboard memory, and then begin overwriting the old samples.  No error is thrown when this occurs when using the PXIe-5162.  Instead, when you attempt to fetch data that has been overwritten, the "niScope Fetch" VI will return the following error:
    "Error -107411863 occurred at niScope Fetch....
    Possible reason(s):
    The requested data has been overwritten in memory so it is no longer available for fetching."
    I hope this helps.

  • Null pointer - need help!

    Hi All,
    I have a problem and I am not sure what to do.
    I need to swap the sql queries below based on the status being passed into the method. However, when I try to set the query in an if statement - the line:
    rs = state.executeQuery(query);will not compile. I get a cannot resolve symbol error message on query.
    If I try to move the lines:
    state = conn.createStatement();
    rs = state.executeQuery(query);into the if statement - The line:
    while(rs.next()) {will give me a null pointer.
    So could someone give me an idea on how I could swap my query in and not get these errors? I really dont know what to do!
    Thanks,
    punnk

    You have prvided unsufficent information and poorly formatted code and as such no meaningful answer can given you at present.
    But here is the best that one can guess at.
    You have a null somewhere.
    Is it coming from this code? I am going to say no.
    Where does it come from? I don't know.
    Where should you look? In the code that does processing to see what happens when yuo have more than one item.
    What should you do next? Start putting in some debugging and tracing statements to see where you are heading off into the null abyss.

    Is there a reason why this is and how do I get by it.
    ii. Can I just add the field directly within the MDS>file/user.xml? Would there be an issue with changing an existing attribute metadata using the user.xml?

    Pradeep thank you for your response. it was helpful. However, I also found the responses to both my questions.
    i. The null pointer exception was due to using a complex query I was using in the LOV query. I tried a simple query and that worked fine.
    ii. For modifying the user defined attributes one can consult the following forum post:
    OIM 11g - Change UDF Field Type form String to LOV

    Hi All,
    I am facing peculiar erro in code.I need to check the null entries in SAP server then it should be replaced by space and if not null then should be replaced by the value in backend.But it is throwing null pointer exception
    I am using equalsignore case(null) and trim for space.
    I am not getting why its is throwing null pointer  exception.Kindly advise
    Regards,
    Anupama

    Hi
    Use
    String f = null ;
    if(f!==null)
    Wdcomponent.getMessageManager.ReportException ("this will cause null pointer exception  "+ f.length());
    Better to give it any Constant like
    priveate static final String NULL_CHECK  = "DEL_VAL12";
    rather than space ,at the time of chceking see if it has  DEL_VAL12 if true then put the actual data else let it be there.
