OWB 9.0.4 metadata import from OWB 9.0.3.33

We have created an export file of the metadata from version 9.0.3.33 and upgraded it with the mdl upgrade utility.
When we tried to import this file into version 9.0.4 the following error occurred:

  • MetaData import from Photoshop CS2 Bridge to Lightroom??

    Dear all,
    I have 2 questions.
    1) I am trying to figure out whether Metadata import from Bridge to LR will be supported?
    2) I am not satisfied with Bridge as a Data Asset Management tool and due to an urgent project have to organize all of my >250 Giga data. ASAP. Any suggestions for a workaround until LR is released for purchase?
    Thanks in advance,

    1. Yes
    2. Can't help with that, sorry.

  • OWB 11.2, ODBC to SQL Server - metadata import problem

    Hi All,
We are using Oracle on 64-bin linux and sql server 2000. We also using OWB11.2 both on Windows and Linux.
We installed open source ODBC on linux (freeTDS) and created dblink to sql server – connection works just fine and we can retrieve data from sql server using standard tools like TOAD, SQLDeveloper, or sqlplus. But when I create ODBC module in OWB11.2 and try to import metadata (tables) from sql server I have the following error:
    SQL Exception
    SQL Exception
    Persistent Layer Error:SQL Exception..
    Class Name: CacheMediator.
    Method Name: getSQLResult.
Persistent Layer Error Message: ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:

ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:

    ORA-06512: at line 1
    ORA-02063: preceding 7 lines from OWB_604
    . (etc)
When connected to sql server using the account used in dblink I can execute sp_columns without any trouble so it’s not a security issue.
Did anybody experience the similar problem?
BTW we successfully used similar technique for Sybase as a source and Oracle (10.2) as a target using OWB 10.2 a few years ago.
    Any help is appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hi Alex
It may be a problem with the ODBC driver for the queries executed to import the catalog metadata. Sometimes you get drivers that 'seem' to work for querying the data but for access the metadata to reverse engineer problems arise. Are you using the latest greatest version of the ODBC driver? If logging was turned on in the client (see here ) probably would be able to get the last query fired at the gateway and this would be the culprit.
One alternative option is to use a remote database gateway agent (now possible in 11g) on the Windows machine, which you can then access from your linux host.
    Cheers
    David

  • Import from Catalog- Why is metadata changing?

Whenever I run Import from Catalog (going from portable drive to desktop), the dialog box shows several photos that have been "modified," even though I haven't touched them since they were last imported to the desktop.  I'm guessing, the desktop install of LR is finding metadata changes in some files. In fact, some thumbnails even show the "metadata changed" badges even though I haven't touched them.
I'm using LR 3 Macintosh, and want to share catalogs between my laptop and desktop using Import from Catalog.  I consider my desktop the "master catalog" and mainly use the laptop for capture or editing when I'm traveling.  The laptop catalog and photos are stored on a portable drive.
Here's what I did to try to isolate the problem - all of this was executed on my desktop machine so the LR settings should be identical:
    1) Created a new catalog on the portable drive while attached to desktop.
    2) Restart LR with new portable drive catalog active.
    3) "Import to catalog" and import 10,000 photos to portable drive from the desktop catalog. This ran with no problems as expected.
    4)  Restart LR w/ original desktop catalog.
    5)  Run "Import from Catalog" to import form the portable drive. -- NOTE I hadn't touched ANY photos on portable since step 3.
    6)  Import from catalog show 0 "new" photos but about 10 "changed" photos.  Why??  It shouldn't show any.
    7)  Cancel step 6 and run Import from catalog again.  This time it shows 0 new and 0 changed. (that's what I'd expect).
    8) Cancel step 7 and run Import from Catalog again.  This time it shows 0 new and about 30 changed - But they're a different set than in step 6.
    9) Give up and post this question.  What is changing the metadata?
As background, I'm running most current versions of OS X and LR 3.  My library contains mostly DNG files with some jpg and some TIF and PSD.  The "modified" files that are showing up all seem to be DNG files.  The files in the library were shot with  Canon, G2, G10, 10D, 20D, 60D and 7D.   The "modified" files appear to be from the 20D, 60D and 7D (all files shot in last 6 months).  The library has some virtual copies and stacks, but this doesn't appear associated with the "modified" files.
    Thank you in advance.
    Marshall

    Ian;
Thank you for your response.  I suspect you may be correct, although I can't trace the problem to explain lens profiles as the issue either at this point.  Each time I try to "Import from Catalog" back and forth between two catalogs - both made from the same instance of LR, it shows a different set of photos with who's metadata is changed.  I make absolutely NO changes to any photos.  I just choose "Import form catalog," look at the list of photos it says are changed, select, 'cancel," and then select "Import form catalog" again.  Each time it gives me a different set of, and total amount of changed photos.  First its 9 photos, then 32 photos, then 447 photos, etc.
This has "BUG" written all over it.  If it's actually a feature, I wish someone could show me how to control it.
A lot of people complain about LR's ability to share catalogs between computers and keep multiple catalogs in sync.  If I could master "Import from Catalog," I'd feel I'd have a workable solution for managing multiple computers (with one photographer / editor).
Just my opinion on this one feature. Overall, I LOVE working with LR.
    Thanks again,
    Marshall
PS.  Thank you, Ian for the many tips and tutorials you've provided over the past years.  I've learned a lot from them.

  • Lightroom: Capture time for videos imported from iphoto is not showing in metadata

Hi, I imported all my photos and videos from iphoto to Lightroom recently using the iphoto import plugin.  I think all my photos were imported but I noticed that all my videos have no capture time, so they became grouped together in my collections.  But I think I can still see their capture time in the "grey text" in each photo.  Why did this happen and how do I resolve this issue?  I really want my capture times to be in the video metadata and also want to see my videos in the right chronological order with my videos.   Strangely, videos imported into Lightroom directly from my camera SD card do not have this issue, only the ones imported from iphoto do.  Thanks!

LR does not properly handle video metadata in general, and in particular it often botches capture time.  Sometimes this works:  Select one video, do Metadata > Edit Capture Time, and then click Change All (without actually changing Corrected Time).  If that sets the capture time to the correct time, then you can select all the problem videos, do Metadata > Edit Capture Time, and click Change All.   If you have a small number of videos, you can manually correct the capture time using Edit Capture Time.
Please see this thread in the official Adobe feedback forum for more details, vote on it, and add your opinion: Lightroom: Metadata applied to videos in Lightroom isn't available in other applications

  • Problems applying metadata to images when importing from device

When importing images from a device into lightroom 2 I have created and selected a metadata template in the information to apply section, but when importing the images to the lightroom library it does not apply the metadata to the images. Can anyone help?

You mean you're importing directly from an USB-attached camera?
If you import from a card reader, do the templates apply?

  • Lightroom 5.5 Import from Catalog *very* slow performance.

Importing from a second catalog from a shoot is *very* slow with the last version or couple of versions of Lightroom.  It's been about 20 minutes and the import is moving glacially slow and is only about 20% done.
Here are as many stats as I have:
iMac 27" 3.5Ghz Core i7, 32G of ram, 3T fusion drive (the late 2013 model maxed out)
Master catalog has 117,000 images in it.
The catalog I'm importing has 948 images in it.
CPU use during the import is 100% used by lightroom (note that the multiple CPUs can go to more than 100% so this means I think that one CPU is maxed out, though LR can sometimes take 500% of my CPUs during an export)
Lightroom is using 4.2G of RAM (10G free in activity monitor)
Hard drive is fairly full, but still has 366G free on it (so about 10%)
Lightroom Mobile sync is enabled (not on this folder I don't think) but says "service unavailable" at this point.
Lightroom is fully up to date (5.5) on both iMac and laptop (also a mac in case that matters).  Both are up to date with the latest OS software.
    How I did it was:
Export the shoot as a new catalog on my iMac
Transfer it to my laptop (smart previews only, no masters)
    Edit images, metadata, etc
Transfer the entire folder back (.lrcat, previews, smart previews) to iMac
In my master catalog do an import from catalog
Waited for ages for checking for dupes (which I can understand with such a big catalog)
Selected to import all, changing metadata and develop edits, and selecting to put new images in the folder (not sure why it asked as there weren't any new images)
The last time I did an import I started it and then went out somewhere so I didn't notice how long it took, but this seems completely crazy.  In the time it's taken to write this up it's now about 20 minutes later and the progress bar is maybe at the 33% range.  It's still working away, it's just crazy crazy slow.
Anything to help out or debug would be greatly appreciated.  I suspect it's pure size of the catalog, but 120k isn't outside the realm of what I've heard people say works fine, or maybe the Fusion drive (maybe the OS is trying to move files around behind the scenes)?
Either way this didn't seem to be an issue until the last couple of versions (I haven't gone and re-installed 5.4 or 5.3 to check) and it's starting to really frustrate me

    Hi Jim,
Great suggestion! It opens perfectly fine on its own. I even went as far as re-exporting it once it loaded but am still experiencing the same issue. That same catalog loads perfectly fine on my assistant's iMac.
I can't really think about anything that changed in my environment with the exception of a new Bootcamp partition to run windows on an external Thunderbolt HD but I doubt this is related.
I'm open to any suggestions while I am trying this again... 10 minutes of 'Checking for changed and duplicate photos'.

  • How do I find images in LR 2.4 (imported from CS4 Bridge) that have color labels already assigned In CS4 Bridge? I have set both Bridge and LR color labels text to match (eg Green for green, etc).

How do you find images in LR 2.4 that have been imported from CS4 Bridge and have been assigned a color label in Bridge?  I have set both LR 2.4 and my CS4 Bridge to match the text for each color to be the same (eg. Green for green, etc), and the filter search in LR 2.4 shows that a label has been assigned, but I am unable to identify and locate the specific images in LR 2.4 that have had a color label assigned from CS4 Bridge.  I have tried to search via attribute, metadata, text, etc...Is it necessary to re-assign color labels all over again, image by image, in LR 2.4, or is there a way to automatically have the color labels assigned in CS4 Bridge be assigned and searchable to the images after they have been imported into the LR 2.4 catalogue from the Bridge program?

    JohnM.
I closed both programs and re-imported photos and re-tried the action of having LR  read the XMP metadata from the CS4 files, and it seems to work now just fine...don't know why now and not before, but thanks much. Is there a way to have LR do this automatically upon import of images from CS4?  I tried to do this with an import metadata preset, but no luck.  It seems as if I can only do this once the images have already been imported into LR, and then to have to have LR read the metadata from the CS4 Bridge files.  thanks gain.

  • Import from Designer crashes with IMAGE data type

    Hello,
I'd like to report an issue with Data Modeler while importing from Oracle Designer. If you consider this a bug, please let me know if I need to do anything else to request a fix for it.
I've used the import > Oracle Designer Model tool to import an application model. The import runs fine for a while, then crashes with a message "There are errors in import - check log file".
The application to be imported has 509 domains, 963 entities to import.
The summary info displayed after the import (when I close the error message pop up) is:
    All statements: 1472
    Imported statements: 538
    Failed statements: 0
    Not recognized statements: 934

I see the issue with the IMAGE data type in the log. The model to be imported does have domains and entities using this data type. The domain actually did get imported, but it shows as "Unknown" logical type, even though there is an Image type available in the Data Modeler type list. None of the entities using IMAGE got imported.
Please let me know if you can provide a fix or workaround for this (other than changing the format in Designer).
    Thank you,
    Beatriz.

    Hello Beatriz,
definitely this is a bug. The problem with entities is not IMAGE data type it's supported there (it's overlooked for domains). The problem is volume information - Initial, Maximum, Average, Growth rate. No workaround for that.
Domain can be changed manually if it's just one affected.

  • Photos on my Mac show the wrong date when imported from a portable Hard Drive

I’ve got loads of photos that I had imported from my old PC.Last night I decided to start going through them and trying to get them sorted
prior to importing into iphoto. I discovered that some of the pictures (in particular ones I have taken from my old Iphone) all had the same date and time
assigned to them. When I checked the Exif details, it listed the correct camera etc, but the date created seems to have changed to the date I copied them to my portable hard drive.
I thought this was strange as when they were on my PC I thought they were correct. I booted my PC up and checked the portable hard drive on Windows. When viewed on my PC the pictures all have the correct time and date assigned to them. However when I plug the same portable hard drive into my Mac the same files show up as being created on a more recent date (say 20th Jan 2013).
I’ve done a lot of research last night, although I can find no forum with this exact problem, I feel it must have something to do with compatibility. The portable hard drive is FAT32, and I am assuming that in order to ensure all of the photos information is transferred correctly in needs to be NTFS.
The problem I have is how do I transfer my files again from my PC to an NTFS drive, whilst keeping all of the correct date and time information assigned to the photos. My understanding is that the 2 aren’t compatible.
Has anyone ever had this problem? It mainly seems to be with photos I have extracted from my Iphone or edited in some form by rotating them.
I have a 13" Macbook Pro Retina with OSX Mavericks installed.

What you may want to do is archive as a Zipfile the photos and then transfer them to the Mac.     It is possible some of the metadata is being lost on the FAT32 formatting.    USB Flashdrive might work better than a FAT32 formatted hard drive, as I do know that most USB Flashdrives are formatted about the same as SD media cards, which manage to preserve the data when copied from camera to Mac.    My big question is, do you still have the photos on media cards?  You might just want to get a media card reader on your Mac, if the photos are not on SD cards, and transfer them over with the media card reader.
I do believe Retina MacBook Pros all have SD card readers built-in.
Note: I've asked this be moved to the MacBook Pro forum.  MacBook without the secondary name refers to the consumer notebook Apple stopped making in 2011.

  • While editing photos iPhoto shut down.  The unexpected shut down message appeared and I pressed re-open.  When it reopened I had lost my most recent import as well as imports from the past 2 weeks.  When I try to re-import it says that they already exist

After an import of about 20 black & white photos to iPhoto I was editing one when iPhoto shut down.  The "unexpected shut down" message was displayed.  I clicked reopen, which it did.  However, my last import was completely missing.  Not only that, everything I had imported, adjusted and filed for the past 2 weeks was also missing.  It has still saved all of the albums I created but all show "no photos".
When I try to re-import from my back-up, iPhoto says "can't import, photo is already in the library".
    Can anyone help?

    What version of iPhoto?
    Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Data Services 12.2.3.0 BODI-1112015 Adapter metadata import failed

    Hi Experts,
I am using Data Services 12.2.3.0.
I have an issue in importing functions through 'Adapter' type datastore into Data Services. I can open the datastore and see the list of functions available, but when I try to import them, I get the error BODI-1112015 Adapter metadata import failed.
The setup and the errors are as below.
The adapter datastore is setup as below.
I built a new keystore called clientkeystore.jks in the ..\bin.Then created the .CSR file, and then imported the signed chained (I believe it's chained certificate) certificate of the server hosting the wsdl into the keystore.
Thanks for the post http://scn.sap.com/thread/1589052 . After changing the metadata character set to utf-8, I can see a list of functions when I open this New_Datastore in Data Services. It proves that the setup for the datastore has no problem parsing the wsdl file and give me the list of functions in it.
However, the error appears when I try to import them.
    Error is:
Adapter metadata import failed. Error message: (BODI-1112015) Error parsing the <TheFunctionToBeImported> included in the XML sent by the adapter to represet a function <Error importing XML Schema from file <adapter_schema_in.xsd>:<XML parser failed: Error <Schema Representation Constraint: Namespace 'http://result.form.v81.api.keysurvey.com' is referenced without <import> declaration> at line <13>, char <46> in < < xsd:schema xmln:xsd=http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmln:tns="http://result.form.v81.api.keystore.com" xmlns:diws="http://businessobjects.com/diwebservice" targetnamespace="http://www.businessobjects.com/diwebservice"><xsd:import namespace='http://v81.api.keysurvey.com' schemaLocation='C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Data Services\ext\webservice\FormResultManagemenetgetRespondentsgetRespondents0.xsd'/>
    <xsd: import namespace='http://result.form.v81.api.keysurvey.com' schemaLocation='C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Data Services\ext\webservice\FormResultManagemenetgetRespondentsgetRespondents2.xsd'/> ........
When comparing it with the wsdl file(as below), it is worth nothing that the schemaLocation is changed to a local directory under C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Data Services\ext\webservice  while it was not the case in wsdl. The schemaLocation is on the server.
I am wondering if the redirection from the server specified in the wsdl file to the local directory has caused this error. The error 'namespace is reference without <import>' is apparently wrong as the <import> is just there.
Or there is any other reason behind this.
I appreciate any adivce or question from you!

I have reached the exact same error as this post http://scn.sap.com/thread/3190403
    The error is
[Mon Jun 18 23:14:28 2012] [error] ..\..\src\core\deployment\conf_builder.c(876) Specifyingservices and modules directories using axis2.xml but path of the library directory is not present

As it is identified as an version problem, this issue is not going to be investigated any further.
As an alternative, can try to use Oracle 11g SOAP_API.sql.

  • Import From Catalog error

When I execute the Import From Catalog function, I am receiving an error messages something like "unexpected error, can not open catalog". This happend initially when it is doing the compare, building the preview prior to receiving the import option/preview screen.
    Background;
    (1) I had just completed several successful Import From Catalog functions from the same Catalog to the same Catalog
    (2) I shut down and re-executed LR (I am using LR3)
    (3) I tried the same Import From Catalog pointing to the back-up with the same results
    Any ideas?

    Becky,
I can not thank you enough... It worked ! The facebook additional function will be nice to try out as well.
You do not want to know the mess I got myself into but this will allow me to recover hundred of hours of processing adjustment metadata from the catalog that I used during the LR3 beta version. I just tried one folder with a significant number of photos and it worked..  Just a few more and I will have my adjustments and other metadata back !!!!

Having used all 4 Beta versions without problems, I am now finding problems with v1. Granted, what Im now doing with v1 I didnt try with the Betas because the functionality wasnt there.
Plug in CF card and reader. Import dialogue comes up. Select "copy and import" so that files are copied to my HD and imported into LR's DB renaming as it does so according to my naming convention. Applying preset development options, metadate presets and keywords all at the same time. What a time saver. Fantastic. Just what I have always wanted!
Except it hangs every time. It usually gets to around half way through and LR just stops responding. I'm using a 1GB sandisk CF card so I'm talking arund 600 jpegs max per import.
    I'm running MAC OSX 10.4 on a G5.
For the moment I'm back to using Bridge for renaming, then doing a separate import from the HD to LR.
    Any clues?

Hi - I came to this forum specifically because of this issue to see if others were seeing it.
I am using some kind of generic usb 2.0 card reader, and a lexar 4GB cf card. I'm importing 1ds Mkii files. I've been using this reader and this card for a long long time (more than 1 year, maybe 2) with no problems before. The card reader is connected to it's own USB port. The firewire drive is the only thing connected via firewire. The other USB port has my kb/mouse. I'm using a DVI widescreen external monitor - which I just started using (I can't remember if I had this issue when I was using just the MB screen), with a res of something like 1650x1050.
At least five times (in 5 days) during import I've had lightroom lock up completely. The program won't force-quit. My computer won't even shut-down properly! I have to power-off and back on. I'm on a 1st gen macbook (core duo, not c2d), with 2GB ram, >40GB free on internal drive, and exporting to a 500GB external FW drive with lots of space. It's very unnerving to say the least.
The last time it happened (last night) I was only importing 28 files, so I don't think it has anything to do with the total number of files being imported. I have noticed, however, that if I start the import and then HIDE the application, or at least don't play with it in ANY WAY, it's seems reliable. I've imported > 175 images at once from this same card/reader with no issues that way. But if I'm impatient and I start scrolling around during the import (looking at the "most recent import" thumbs) it seems to happen more consistently.
Terrible! I'm in evaluation mode here, and generally lightroom feels 2x more responsive than aperture. I have aperture, and I'm trying to decide if I should convert to lightroom. This is a killer for me. It's not just having the force-quit the app - it's having to manually power-down the whole machine!

  • Importing from CA ERWin 9.2

Hi All, I am trying to import a .xml created from SAVE-AS dialogue of ERwin 9.2 in PD 16.2 but for my dismay I am not able to import the data-types. Following are the list of steps:
    1. Create a .xml file from the logical model (or even with just physical model) of Erwin tool using SaveAS dialogue box (Tried using both Standard and Repository xml options)
    2. I can see from the xml definition the data-types are clearly identifiable for each entity
    3. I go on to import the xml created using PD 16.2 from Import -> Erwin File option
    4. I choose to import the xml as both LDM and PDM (Though LDM doesn't really import all the entities from Erwin file I created)
    5. Strangely an error follow saying no right DBMS is chosen though I have marked the database in Erwin clearly (tried it as Oracle/Sybase IQ, Sqlserver 2012). I choose the DBMS as Sqlserver 2012 again in PD to continue after below error
    6. Finally I am able to see the entities and diagram after choosing to 'Show Symbols' from drop-down option but the data-types are UNDEFINED
Please do let me know  - If I have missed to follow any steps for following 2 issues:
    a) Why isn't all the entities shown in LDM of PD
    b) Why does the PD show all the data-types as undefined despite the same shown in Erwin and .xml file imported
Thanks for your time and effort.
    BR,
    Anil

    Hi Anil,
I did Import from Erwin 4.x and 7.x models to PD 16.1
    A) For Erwin you have under File Menu=>Export=>To External Format. Select Destination Sybase PowerDesigner PDM 8.x to 15.x. Run PD 16.2 and Open your new PDM file. PD convert from 15.x to 16.2. CA/Embarcadero has established a deal to have inside Erwin MetaIntegration bridge. If I remember correctly you have to buy a license. Several options are available at the bridge so you can achieve the best migration.
    B) For your information Import Erwin 8.x and 9.x files have never been tested for PD! I do not think SAP has an interest now in the subject.
PowerDesigner supports, with their old home bridge, the import of the following ERwin v3.x and higher model files, though v4.x or higher files are recommended, as they contain more metadata:
    • ERwin v3.x (.erx)
    • ERwin v4.x (.xml)
    • ERwin v7.x (.xml) – the ERwin model must be saved as Standard XML Format, and you must uncheck Only save minimum amount of information in the ERwin Save as XML File dialog box (Erwin 3.x and 4.x).
Note : Import from Erwin 4.x or 7.x .xml standard file work but it's not perfect! In 2012-2013 to my requests Sybase / SAP have made several corrections. It's better but there are still some problems. I suggest you make regressive tests.
    C) You can use Toolbus of Reischman or MetaIntegration bridge. But you must pay $$$ and also you must do regressive tests. Nothing is perfect. It's the life!
    D) You can also downgrade...From Erwin 9.x you can save model in 8.x Erwin format. Open Erwin software version 8.x and save as xml standard. But it's not necessary a good idea...and I doesn't remember If the result is better!
