OWB Runtime Assistant Create Repositiry

I have installed OWB ver 9.0. When I get to the runtime assistant and attempt to install a repository the progress window sticks at 1% and never finishes. I have Oracle 8.1.7 DB installed on a Windows 2000 Pro machine.
What might be the problem?

John,
Can you be more specific about the version number? 9.0.4 is not certified on 8.1.7. 9.2 (the latest available on OTN) is. 9.0.2 and 9.0.3 were certified on Oracle8i.
Thanks,
Mark.

    Greg,
Let me make sure that I understand the process. Did you run the runtime assistant (as your subject states) or the browser assistant?
If you want to create a runtime environment, then you run the runtime assistant. The browser assistant sets up the environment to expose design information through an HTML based browser component.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

(sorry, some of the log is in Finnish but i dont know how translate it)
Everytime time the runtime repository installing halts when about 60 percent is done.
So if anybody could assist me, i would be forever grateful...
    Thanks for advance....

This is a bug 3043523, affecting non-English repository installs. It's documented and fixed in 9.2.0.4 patchset. For a customer I would say patch to 9.2.0.4 before attempting to create the runtime repository. But I figured you don't have access to the patches, since they are distributed through Oracle Support's site metalink.oracle.com, where only Oracle customers can login to. So would it be an option for you to install the English language repository?

    According to metalink:
    "Cause:
The cause of the problem is the existence of public synonyms pointing to the java tables.
    CREATE$JAVA$LOB$TABLE and/or JAVA$CLASS$MD5$TABLE
The presence of the Public synonyms prevents the Runtime Assistant from creating new tables. This can be verified from sqlplus, connected as the sys user:
    SQL> select owner,synonym_name, table_name, table_owner
    2 from dba_synonyms
    3* where synonym_name like '%JAVA%TABLE';
    Solution
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps as a sys user from sql*plus. If required, change the synonym names to match the names returned in the select statement:
    . DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM CREATE$JAVA$LOB$TABLE;
    2. DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM JAVA$CLASS$MD5$TABLE;
Once complete, start the Runntime Assistant and perform the installation. When the Assistant completes, verify the log file does not contain errors or exceptions."
    Hope it works!

  • Ora-00922 error in Runtime assistant

    OWB : OWB10g,
    Oracle : Oracle10g,
    OS : Windows XP
I have installed OWB10g on the same machine as Oracle10g but in separate oracle homes. I have successfully run OWB Repository assistant. In Runtime Assistant after giving inputs in all the pages ie after coming to summary page when I press finish it gives ORA-0922 { You must enter a valid user name ).
All the usernames are valid. I tried giving all the usernames and password in upper case, even that doesnt help. I created users for runtime and access user in oracle and in owb chose the option for using existing user but still I get this error.
Any idea, what am I missing ??

    Hi,
I too am experiencing this error when trying to configure a repository. I enter all the SYS details and for the OWB a/c. There was mention of invalid characters in the password , we use '-' , would this cause a problem.
Also, I am using an Oracle XE database for the repository, is there any limitation on this? Or do I need a full 10g instance?
    Many thanks
    Gary Revell.

  • Runtime Assistant is Missing

    Hi friends,
Currently i have OWB 10g R2 installed in windows environment. But inorder to create runtime repository owner and the runtime access user i couldnt find runtime assistant in OWB.
Kindly guide me friends, from where i can create runtime users and owner for my OWB, in which it forms the base for the control center service to work.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Saro

    Anyone??
Still couldnt find the Runtime Assistant in my OWB(10.2.0.1).
As per the docs, it is stated that in UNIX environment it is present like below
    OWB_ORACLE_HOME/owb/bin/unix and execute
    runtimeinst.sh.
But where it would be in windows

I have installed the 10G2 database and 10G2 OWB on my PC. Everything works all right, but I don't have runtime information. So I read I should create a runtime repository using the runtime assistant. But I don't have a runtime assistant. How do I get it?
    Regards,
    Gaston.

    Hi,
The runtime concept is different in OWB 10g R2. Here you can do with only one repository owner.
The installation procedure is somewhat like this.
Run the Oracle Universal installer. Create a repository owner and user. After finishing the installation, enter design center from Start/Programs/OWB. After entering OWB, from the design center itself you can assign a target schema and then deploy your mappings on the target schema.
Your single repository owner serves both as the design repository owner and runtime respository owner.
    Hope this helps

  • Issues in installing runtime assistant

    Hi,
I am facing ORA-03113 error while installing the runtime assistant. This error seems to be happening at wb_rt_service.sql.
    OWB Version:9.2.0.2.8
    Repository:9.2.0.2.0
    Database:9.2.0.5
OS: RedHat Linux Enterprise Edition 3
    HW: HP 2CPU 4GB RAM.
Database & repository are on the same server in two diff instances.
I saw a posting in this forum which says there was a bug with 9204 & rerunning catalog.sql as a remedy. I tried that but it did not work.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance.
    Suresh

    Suresh,
We have seen this message before when people had upgraded the database software, but not actually migrated the database to the newer release (indeed, running catalog.sql).
Anyway, can you logon as system, and execute the following command:
    select comp_name, version
    from dba_registry
Depending on what version of the database you are running... (please let us know) and the patch level this should give you some result. It would be really helpful if you post the result of that query.
Also, have you changed any of the default parameters of the database. Or, have you reduced the database for some reason?
    Thanks,
    Mark.

  • Windows migration assistant created 2 accounts on my Mac

Windows migration assistant created 2 accounts on my daughters new Mac,
In a hurry to set up my daughters New Macbook Air we downloaded the Windows Migration Assistant when migrating we unticked music and videos intending to migrate them at a later date and migrated everything else.
Then today a week later we decided to migrate the music and videos across and was amazed to see the software had created a new separate account on the mac.
So my daughter has one account with all her coursework and other info then a separate account with all her music and iTunes etc.
There was nothing in the process that suggested or warned it was a one time tool per account and why the code writers would assume a new account was needed each time the tool is used seems a rigid approach.
Does anybody know if there's a way to get the music and videos over to the first account and then delete the unneeded second account?

While it surprised me what to migration did with transferring the old files, it really out smarted me - to no real surprise.
It might have been nice to have known what to expect. Now that this is done, how can I keep some files separate on the two different accounts.
I want access to some files on one account but not on the other. Shared files, maybe?
How can that be set up?
    Thanks.

  • How to delete the values from TKOMV at runtime after creating PO

    Hi,
How to delete the values from TKOMV at runtime after creating PO from IDOC. I am creating PO through IDOC, subsequently need to create Sales order and again need to create 2nd PO with reference of Purchase Requestion(created with sales order). At the time creation of 2nd PO the Header conditions are appearing twice and net price value is appearing wrong.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Padma
Can you do this activity once the company code is in to production. I guess you can not do this activity, if the company code is already in to live. Setting or resetting of the recon accounts will hinder the previous actitivity. Infact resetting of the company code is also not a good option.
Any how, thanks for the inputs. Please let me know whether i can do this activity only at the subledger level which will not impact other modules. The one solution i can figured out is , reverse all the transactions for the corresponding asset in the year of takeover and pass the entries again in the same year correctly which will have effect in Subledger and also in general ledger. But the business people will not allow this, since for a big client it will require lot of authorizations and approvals. Infact the vendor also, is cleared. So we have to reverse the cleared documents as well which is again a task and require approvals as well.
    Thanks and regards
    Seshu.

  • Recovery Disk Assistant created USB not a valid start-up disk

Booting from Recovery Disk Assistant created USB drive gives me a slashed circle with an eternally spinning grey wheel. Googling forums for the meaning of that symbol (and the fact that the machine never boots) leads me to believe that my recovery USB is somehow corrupted. This is repeatable -- erasing the USB key, repartitioning, re-downloading and re-installing using the Recovery Disk Assistant leads to the same error. I've verified that the USB drive is fully functional. I'm curious if there's anything obvious that I'm doing wrong here? Has anyone else experienced this?
    The particulars are as follows.
    - I followed the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4848
    - I have a 16 GB Corsair flash key, on which I have two GUID partitions: one 2 GB and one 14 GB
         * intially, the 2 GB partition (the to-be recovery partition, even though the recovery files are ~650 MB) is formatted as a non-encrypted, Mac OS Extended (journaled) format
         * the 14 GB partition is ExFat
    - the Recovery Assistant finishes normally
    - as expected, the recovery partition is not visible in Disk Utility, but exists:
    $ diskutil list
    ...{snip}...
    /dev/disk2
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *16.0 GB    disk2
       1:                        EFI                         209.7 MB   disk2s1
       2:                 Apple_Boot Recovery HD             650.0 MB   disk2s2
3:       Microsoft Basic Data Feigenbaum              13.7 GB    disk2s3
    - to test the recovery disk, I reboot, holding `option' and choose to boot from the recovery partion on my USB drive
         * I'm using a non-retina, 2012 MBP with OS 10.8.5, if that matters
    - normal start-up splash: apple icon
    - boom: spinning wheel & slashed circle

Thanks for the suggestions! I didn't give this a go with a single partition, but I have resolved the problem.
Before finding the solution, I tried making a bootable clone of the MBP's recovery partition:
    - enable Disk Utility's debug option from the terminal: defaults write com.apple.DiskUtility DUDebugMenuEnabled 1
    - mounted the recovery partition in Disk Utility
    - restored from the recovery partition to the desired partition on my USB drive
    - made the partition bootable from the terminal: sudo bless --folder /Volume/{path}/System/Library//CoreServices
    - rebooted from the new partition
I got the same result: slashed circle and a spinning wheel
Creating the USB recovery partition on my Mac Pro worked. I verified that it works on both machines before I saw R C-R's suggestion. What's really weird is that the MBP *will* start from its own recovery partition. Maybe the MBP's recovery partition is corrupted in a way that allows it to boot but not be copied? Maybe I've made an error elsewhere? Who knows. In any case, my problem is solved now and hopefully, this thread helps some other poor soul.
Thanks again for the suggestions! Much appreciated.

  • "Booting from Boot Camp Assistant created USB Drive...Failed to load BOOTMGR"

Hi Apple Ppl of the Wrld: I need help I been working on installing windows 8 on my Mac.
    Spec of equipment:
    Mac Book Pro Mid 2012
    Bootcamp Version: Version 5.0.4 (473)
Bootable USB Flash Drive: Type Scan disk 4 GB windows 8 pro iso image but without the driver and the 2nd Scan disk USB flash drive with 32 GB with the Bootcamp Drivers downloaded and saved to this drive.
Please Note: I also have the original back up installation disc for Microsoft 8 Prof 64 from Microsoft where I purchased it from.
1st Bootcamp is not recognizing the Original Microsoft 8 Pro backup disk from microsoft itself.
Solution: I created the New Image from the Original Microsoft installed disc in my desk top and changed the extension to .ISO then burned the ISO image into the newly purchased DVD+R. Then I ran Bootcamp Once again and it get the following error message "The installer disc could not be found -- Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized. Solution
2: Created a bootable usb drive with bootcamp assistant successfully with bootcamp. Yes I close, ejected or un-mounted any image that was open or had been previously used then i restarted the Mac. Next, I start the bootcamp assistant tool once again then i get the same insert your windows installer disc message.
3: Then I try to resolve the installer disc not found issue: this are the steps i took: a). Lauch disc utilities
        1. Selected the top most drive 750 GB Macintosh HDD
        2. On the right you’ll see 5 tab buttons: First Aid | Erase | Partition | RAID | Restore.
        3. Choose Partition. Then I clicked + to add another partition size of the partition was 222 GB
        4. Change the Name of the Partition to BOOTCAMP
        5. Change the Format to MS-DOS (FAT)
        6. Click Apply to save the changes and then reboot your Mac and we’ll begin Windows installation.
        7. During reboot, press and hold the alt/Option key and you’ll be presented with drives to boot from.
        8. Use the arrow keys and return button to select the Windows yellow USB key drive containing your Windows 8 installation files.
        9. This will begin the Windows install. --> then i get the following message: "Booting from Boot Camp Assistant created USB Drive...Failed to load BOOTMGR".
4: Take the Mac to best buy and let them resolve the issue and charge me like a million dollars for it :'( since i have no other idea who to get this bootcamp working at all. This has been a terribly lengthy issue and it is not as simple as it is claimed to be since i started with the Original Windows Disc Purchased from Microsoft and I have the Optical disc drive which it should be simpler from what I understand.
Please can you help It would be of great help.
    <Email Edited by Host>

from what i understand you are trying to install win 8 pro from a "backup disk" the one that you purchased from microsoft.
this will not work, it is not an installer disk.
you need to start the process again. erase the partition you made on your hdd. in disc utility click the minus button after selecting the bootcamp partition, then manually drag the divider down fully then apply.
next, erase your usb then format it.
    download win 8 iso from here;
    http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/download-windows-8-pro/
it is perfectly legal to use your purchased product key in this install.
in bootcamp select the iso image you just downloaded, select your preferred partition size, check all 3 options.
you have the support software on another usb but you wont need it so it can be discarded. the install will work far better with the iso and support on the same drive.
