P Chart With Variable UCL
Hello,
I am trying to use an iSPCChart in P mode. My sample size varies per point and I am specifying a Sample Size Column on the display template's Data Mapping tab. I have the box checked to Calculate Control Limits on the Limits tab.
My problem is that the upper control limit does not show up on the chart even though I have Show Control Limits checked on the Upper Chart tab. The lower control limit does show up.
Is there a way to get the UCL to show up on the P chart when it is calculated and it varies due to varying sample sizes?
Thanks,
Mike
Hi Udayan,
It appears that the UCL is being calculated. If I do a right-click on the applet and then Data -> SPC Results Detail, each position has a UCL listed. They range from 0.02 to 0.05 (depending on the sample size).
In the summary section at the top of the SPC Details, however, it says NA for UpperChartUCL. I think this is because I did not specify a static UCL in the template.
Also, on my chart one of my plotted points is red indicating that the upper control limit alarm point has been exceeded. The control limit alarm is the only alarm I have turned on.
So, I think it is calculating the UCL properly and that it is using it properly in terms of assessing the alarm conditions but, for some reason, it is not drawing the UCL on the chart.
Thanks for your help.

VassoHi,
You're setting XML data in a JSON model, that's why the binding is incorrect.
Depending on what your MII transaction is returning, you need to either retrieve the JSON part in the XML, or use a XML Model.

How to Create Charts with the variable value
Hi,
I have to create a crystal report in which i have given variable under "Facility:". I have kept two variables under facility of which one is like you can select one or more values and other one u can select only one value and i mentioned it as mandatory.
What i wanted is, I have to create a bar chart based on the facility . I also want to create a pie chart using the value of facility which comes from the mandatory variable.
To be more clear, I selected two facilities, say X & Y under the first variable and one facility, say Z under the second variable (mandatory). I was able to prepare bar chart with these three facilities. Now i want to prepare a pie chart using the value Z.
Can anyone please help me out?Likely a bug in the ChartBuilders or the JDK.
ScatterChartBuilder.<Number, Number>create().build(); // does not work either.javac is unable to determine if the create() method from SceneChartBuilder or the create() method from RegionBuilder should be applied.
The AxisBuilders which also derive from RegionBuilder work because they don't define their own create method with obscure generic type info.
How can I resolve the ambiguity?new ScatterChart ;-) -
How do I create an interactive PDF file with variable data
We would like to basically do a 'mail merge' of our list of customers with an interactive PDF file (including videos, menus, etc - not just form fill out and web links) to create a single PDF file that contains multiple mail pieces ... one for each customer ... with each mail piece being customized for that customer. Customizations would include different greetings (Dear Bob, Dear Dana, etc), as well as different charts based on data unique to the customer, different photographs, etc.
I've seen that InDesign and Acrobat Professional can be used to create an interactive PDF (such as from http://tv.adobe.com/watch/ask-the-adobe-ones/14-calling-rufus-about-interactive-pdf-making). However I don't understand how I can insert data from a database, csv file, excel file etc into the PDF file so that each page, or each set of pages, within the PDF can be customized.
Can anyone point me to a tool to use for this?
Thanks,
Bob KendallFor that kind of volume and unattended operation, you want InDesign Server – which is the server/high volume edition of INDD.

Hello All,
We have variables (measures) TypeA, TypeB, TypeC created at report level in webi. It has the below mentioned example data:
TypeA
50
TypeB
30
TypeC
80
I am expecting bar/line chart with TypeA, TypeB, TypeC in Category (X) axis and values on Value (Y) axis. Any suggestion please..!!
(If TypeA, TypeB, TypeC are coming from dimension object (for ex Type) and Values are coming from any keyfigure (for ex Volume) then it is easy to convert it to graph, but all above are variables (measues))
We are using BI 4.0Hi Suri,
Assign your chart data as per screenshot,

CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
I'm using Crystal Reports XI and I can't seem to use the chart functionality with formulas. I see detail formulas available in the chart wizard (data tab), but I don't see my sum formulas in the wizard. The sum formulas are based variables that total numbers in the group footer.
Anyway I can create charts with these formulas that sum up values in the group footer?Post Author: acarey
CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
A big short coming with CR is that it doesn't let you chart WhilePrintingRecords formulas. I tore my hair out for a while with this one.
Eventually I found a document with a work around on the Business Objects website. Its a SERIOUS pain in the *** but it does work.
The Doc is for CR9 but I'm using XI and it works. The document is called cr9_charting_print_time.pdf. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact location but you should be able to search for it.
If anyone knows an easier way don't hesitate to TELL SOMEONE. The thing with these forums is that questions like this don't seem to get answered to often.

Encountered the symbol 'LOOP' when expecting one...Billy Verreynne wrote:
Why? For what purpose?
A cursor fetch loop is not the ideal processing structure.
It is slow. It requires data to travel from the buffer cache of the database into PL/SQL variables (in the PGA). It requires context switching between the PL/SQL and SQL engines.
It does not scale. More rows means more data to travel that path from the SQL engine to the PL/SQL engine. More loop iterations in PL/SQL. If a single loop iteration (for processing a row) is 1ms, then a 100,000 rows will take a 100 seconds. 200,000 rows 200 seconds. Etc. This clearly does not scale with an increase in data volume.
Also keep in mind that DBMS_OUTPUT does not write to screen or display anything. It is incapable of accessing a client device as it executes inside a server process. So each call to DBMS_OUTPUT stores that line of text in very expensive server memory. When the database call is done, the client (e.g. TOAD or SQL*Plus) can read those lines from the database and the client can display it.
So if your loop is for a 1000 rows, it means writing a 1000 lines of text into very expensive server memory - and then expecting the client to read that afterwards and display it. Why? This is not a standard client-server method. It also does not scale. It can actually crash the server when this method is abused.
The standard method would be to create a SQL cursor using PL/SQL code, and then return a reference handle (pointer) to the client. This allows the client the ability to fetch data directly from the cursor - in an optimal way that does not consume expensive server memory.I have to say it: I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to write this whenever it needs to be written rather than just giving up and letting people stumble along with bad design - it must take a lot of mental stamina to keep doing it. One day it will sink into my head also :-) -

I asked this before but now I want to change the question focus.

for mor details:
1) i'm having 2 stacked coumn charts & 1 lebel based menu but eventhough i couldn't able to achieve.
if i select the lebel based values then the 2nd stacked column charts is giving detailed valus but if i keep my mouse on the 1st stacked column chart the there is no changes on the 2nd chart..
somewhere i'm mising the binding data between 1st stacked coumn chart & lebel based menu on drill down part.
Becoz i'm having multiple rows. so can you please try your and send me the xlf file using your concept. -
Problem with variables in formulas when using CrystalReportViewer
Post Author: Aksu
CA Forum: Formula
Hi! I have a problem with variables in Crystal Reports formulas, when using CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer class from VS2005-project. ReportViewer always gives error:*************Crystal Report Windows Forms ViewerThis field name is not known.Details: errorKindError in File C:\{dir]}\{file}.rpt:Error in formula <mCustomerAttributes>.'Dim result As String'This field name is not known.Details: errorKind ************* Report without variables works fine with Viewer and in Crystal Reports Designer report with variables works also fine. I have tried with both "formula-syntaxes" - basic and crystal. But Viewer always gives error when trying to define new variable.I think the problem might be with CR -versions, because VS-project has formerly been designed to VS2003 and CR9 or 10. Now I'm using VS2005 and CR11. Though I have changed all references to new CrystalDecisions-asseblies (Ver.11.0.3300.0), when I debug the project and checkout the Viewers ReportSources FormatEngine Shows version CR9_2.... I'd really appreciate it... ---AksuHas anyone been able to answer this question?
I am having the same problem:
I am designing a report in Crystal Reports XI Developer that contains parameters, which are passed to a stored procedure and are also used within formulas ( in Crystal Syntax ie. {?FORMAT_ID} ) in the report itself.
I can run the report successfully in CRXI Developer. The formulas use the correct values from the parameters entered during execution and everything looks good.
I then deploy the report to Business Objects Enterprise XI. I do all of the things necessary to manage the report including setting up the proper database connection information and default parameter values.
When I run the report using the Crystal Report Viewer, I get the following error message:
Error in File Forecasting.rpt:
Error in formula <Report Format>.
'if (not isNull({?FORMAT_ID} ) ) then
This field name is not known.
Details: errorKind
This happens when I press the "Preview" button in the Manage Object dialog from Crystal or when I run the report using InfoView.
I have changed the formulas and it doesn't seem to matter what the specific content of the formula is; other than the existence of a parameter reference in the formula. If I comment out the parameter and replace it with a hard-coded value, it gets through the formula fine.
Does Business Objects Enterprise XI support crystal reports with parameter references in the formulas?
Thanks,
Tim H.

Issue with Variable Personalisation in Bex Report
Hi Gurus,
I'm facing a typical problem with Variable presonalisation in the Report.
I've executed a BEX Report and filtered data on some characteristics and used SAVE AS Button on the Portal to save the resultset. When I'm trying to use the variants, again say after 2 or 3 days i couldn't find updated data for particular variants upon using the same variants rather its refelecting the old data. Further more when I execute the report and try filtering on the same criteria altogether, I'm able to see updated result set.
Is there any setting to be enabled when we personalise variants or variants are dependent on the data or the date on which they are created. Not sure why the reports are behaving this way. Or Do I need to create variants time and again.
Any pointers would be of great help.
Regard,
YaseenHello,
In the BEx report, when you get the variable selection screen there input your selection and at the bottom you have the option of saving them as a variant.
Now in future when you run the report simply use this variant and execute the report. It should work fine.
Also remember date selection can be tricky. If you input todays date in the variant, it wil consider the same date in further references. So do a check on that too.

Shashank -
Is it currently possible to create a doughnut chart with multiple concentric circles in SSRS?
Is there currently any way to create a 'doughnut' chart with multiple concentric circles in an SSRS report (any version), without using 3rd party tools?
Something like this, perhaps?
(For that matter is it possible to create this using JavaScript? It's my understanding that this image was originally created in a web app using JavaScript. So far I've not been able to pin down the details. I've found hints that JavaScript
can be used in SSRS reports but so far no clear working examples.)Hi B.Chernick,
According to your description, you want to create a create a doughnut chart with multiple concentric circles in your report. Right?
In Reporting Services, we only have doughnut chart with one concentric circle. All the category group is in that concentric circle. Though we can embed javascript injection in expression, it only give the css style to values or report
items which can change the looking. It can't change the structure of the report items itself. So your requirement can't be achieved current.
For your requirement, we suggest you provide Microsoft a feature request at
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer
so that we may try to expand the product features based on your needs.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

I have a Line chart with Time Refresh Control and I would like to make some constraints to this navigation.
For example, I would like to limit the user to navigate in a data range of 8 hours.
Is this posible?
Thanks in advanceHi Pedro,
as far as I know, this is not possible using the time controls on an iChart. However, you may have some success by using your own time controls which call JavaScript methods exposed by the applet.
For example, you could begin by hiding the time and calendar buttons on an iChart, and creating some buttons of your own. For instance, to set the start date of a query (and thus the start date of the iChart using the query), you can use the following:
document.getElementById("appletID").getQueryObject().setStartDate(<date string>);
Using code like the above (look into the xMII script assistant and documentation), you should be able to build time controls which satisfy your requirements. The exact format of <date string> in the sample above will depend on the date format defined in the query template this script calls.
Hope this helps,

How to build a gantt chart with BI Publisher
Hi everybody, I need to create a gantt chart with BI Publisher. I had a look to the document "Getting Gantty" from the blog:
http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2008/01/getting_gantty.html
but I don't understand in which way:
1. build the data template in order to replicate the XML code in the article
2. build and link the yellow bar which dynamically increases its length according to the meeting duration
Anybody already tried to implement something similar ? I didn't still found a real example about how to do it......
I need a help, please
Thanks in Advance
AlexYes that is the only option which we can stop a running report in BI Publisher
I suspect you'll need to ask your DBA to kill the session.
However, if you have DBA privileges yourself, you can do this by a few methods, some of which are described here:
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/misc/KillingOracleSessions.php
Mark if helps,
Thanks,
