P4 Connection and Dispatcher/Server Threads...
Hi,
I'd like to know what would be the resource impacts of having P4 connection opened on a server in term of theads.
Here is the scenario:
- A stand alone java application starts on a remote server
- It connects to the Nw04s J2ee Engine using P4 either via the Message Server or the Dispatcher.
- It calls an Engine Service passing a its remote interface.
- The service binds it to the J2ee Engine JNDI.
- The call returns
In the end we have a stub pointing to the remove VM bound in the JNDI tree of the J2ee engine.
What does this imply in term of threads in keeping this connection alive? Does P4 books some threads to send and receive requests in the dispatcher?
The problem is that I have around 30 remote clients bound to the JNDI tree and this consumes lots of threads in the dispatcher (more than 60.)
And when I disconnect them, the dispatcher thread pool goes back to a normal value.
Thanks in advance,
Serge.
Hi,
After having asked to the P4 team (many thanks to Atanassov Ivan), if a remote VM connects to the SAP J2ee Engine using P4, it reaches it via the dispatcher and a System thread is reserved in the disptacher to handle this connection.
This System thread is released only if the connection is closed.
It's closed if the remote VM calls the P4Broker's close() method or if the remote VM crashes.
Regards,
Serge.

Using calendar in OS X Mavericks. When it tries to connect to iCloud it gives me VERY annoying pop-up message, that it can't connect and that server responds with CalDAVAddSubscriptionCalendarQueueableOperation: 400.
Help me please, really need my calendar!Hello Steve
The simple and quick fix is right-clicking on that little Safe icon in the system tray (near the system clock) and choose Stop Backup/Synchronization. Do you see that icon?
Turn it on and off as needed. Did this work for you?

Loosing datasource connection in a server thread
Hi,
In a backing bean I start a long term thread that uses the datasource connection taken from application module.
Everything works fine but after a period of time between one and two hours the connection is lost and server throws a
<BEA-001112> <Test "SELECT 1 FROM DUAL" set up for pool "AEE2010DS" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLException: Connection Closed".>
Is there any way to stop the server from closing the connection that is used in a separate thread, programmatically or using configuration?
Any comment will be helpful,
ThanksThat looks like something external is killing the connection, either the DBMS or a firewall.

The system cannot find the file specified
I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.It sounds like there are a couple things going on here. First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance. Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error. If you get an error, post the error message your hitting. If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect. If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog. Ex: "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name. However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format. Ex: COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install. Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

IBM WPS: Error While Creating App and Int Server Connections in JDev 10g
Hi,
I have been struggling to create App Server and Int Server connections in JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 without any luck.
The JDeveloper is present on VM ware machine from which I'm trying to establish the connections to remote server where SOA Suite 10g is installed on IBM Websphere.
My Settings:
App Server:
Connection Type: Standalone OC4J 10.1.3
RMI: tried WC_defaulthost port, 6003, RMI default port (How do I get the actual value of RMI on IBM Websphere and does this really make a difference?)
Connection test fails with Mbean error. Ignored this error as documented in Installation guide.
Int Server:
Used the above App Server connection, gave the http port value of 9700 (also the WC_defaulthost on IBM Websphere)
Connection test fails for App Server, BPEL PM Server and ESB Server.
I have gone through other threads where different workarounds were suggested but none of them worked for me. The workaround of adding the property ipaddr with the value 0.0.0.0 in opmn.xml doesn't hold good here as IBM WPS doesn't have OPMN.
Please suggest a working solution for this issue.
Regards,
CCThe below message comes when you don't specify any default file for your webcenter portal application and this should not be any problem.
Target Portal.jpr is not runnable, using default target index.html.
Can you answer to my questions:
1. Did you just created a new wcp application in jdev and ran it with out doing any changes? If you have done what are the changes?
2. How did you ran your application? (right clicking a particular page or right clicking your portal project and selected "run" option? -
I am at my wits end. I have got a new PC running Windows 8.1 and Outlook 2013 simply WILL NOT connect to my work Exchange server. The REALLY annoying thing is that the Windows Mail client inbuilt to Windows 8.1 works perfectly! But I have to have Outlook
for the functionality. The issue appears to be that in Outlook 2013 on Windows 8.1, it tries to be clever and auto-detect the settings whereas Windows Mail allows you to input the server and domain names.
I have tried all the suggestions already on some of the boards - manual setup, etc - nothing works! Is it a compatibilityissue with SBS 2008 and Outlook 2013? Any help appreciated!I am at my wits end. There's no issue with O'2013 connecting with Ex '2007. Also not clear about comments of "auto-detect" versus "....have tried all the suggestions ............ manual setup....". On the one hand your stating that only "auto-detect" is available and on the
other that you've tried "manual settings" (which definitely is an option in O'2013 for EX accounts).
This may have more to do with the fact that you're using a new computer trying to connect to the server which it may not be configured for - something your admin will need to address.
Given that your question is in reference to Exchange - you are likely to get a better/faster answer in the following forum which deals with Exchange server related questions:

I have a ipad mini and i have had it for less then a year, it says that i have perfect wifi up in the left corner where the wifi is always at but when ever i go into the built in safari it says that it is unable to connect with the server. How can i fix this because with out it connecting to the server or internet it is kind of useless to me. I do have ios7 if that helps
The wifi symbol only indicates the presence/signal strength of wifi. Not that you are connected.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

I'm being shown an error pop-up message periodically saying "There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type 'file:' are not supported." I have a brand new MacBook Pro, and at no time am I actually having trouble connecting to the server, but this message continues to pop-up several times a day at random intervals. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is my computer just having a glitch? Other than that, and a mildly sticking caps lock button, it's working perfectly.
Thank you!Alright it didn't solve it. Any other suggestions?
I haven't suggested a solution yet. I want to know whether you still get the messages while Time Machine is disabled. Do you? If so, try any or all of the solutions proposed in this thread:

Server, thread and limited connexions
I use this code for my server. I got it from the book "Java thread" written by Scott Oaks and Henry Wong" and edited by O'Reilly.
This code works very good. I just want to implement a limited allowed connexions at a same time (ie 20 or 30 connexions possible at a same time).
I think a simple count of the created threads isn't enougth because i can't figure out how to decrease it. I was thinking using thread pool and counting the threads inside, so that i know exactly how many connexions are opened.
Any advice about this is welcome.
Here is the code :
import java.net.*;
import java.io.*;
public class TCPServer implements Cloneable, Runnable
Thread runner = null;
ServerSocket server = null;
Socket data = null;
boolean ShouldStop = false;
public synchronized void startServer(int port) throws IOException
if(runner == null)
server = new ServerSocket(port);
runner = new Thread(this);
runner.start();
public synchronized void stopServer()
if(server != null)
ShouldStop = true;
runner.interrupt();
runner = null;
try
server.close();
catch(IOException ioe)
//ioe.printStackTrace();
server = null;
public void run()
if(server != null)
while(!ShouldStop)
try
Socket datasocket = server.accept();
TCPServer newSocket = (TCPServer) clone();
newSocket.server = null;
newSocket.data = datasocket;
newSocket.runner = new Thread(newSocket);
newSocket.runner.start();
catch(Exception e)
else
run(data);
public void run(Socket data)
}This class is used to implement the server. A derivated class is used to treat the connexion. I wish to implement the counter in this class if possible.
In advance thanks.To define the maximum allowed connections, use this constructor for ServerSocket
public ServerSocket(int port, int backlog)Backlog being the maximum allowed connections at a time. Any aditional connection attempts will be rejected.
public class TCPServer implements Cloneable, Runnable{
Thread runner = null;
ServerSocket server = null;
Socket data = null;
boolean ShouldStop = false;
private final int MAXIMUM_CONNECTIONS = 20; //or 30 or whatever you want your maximum to be
public synchronized void startServer(int port) throws IOException {
if(runner == null) {
server = new ServerSocket(port, MAXIMUM_CONNECTIONS);
runner = new Thread(this);
runner.start();

Dispatcher running but unable to connect to message server
Hi all,
I have installed ECC 6.0 EHP 4 on MAXDB 7.7.
After doing post steps and installing license I did local client copy, client copy stuck in between and I noticed that session hanged so I opened a new session and found that I was not able to run and t-code and and unable to login to the server although login screen appears( Login process continues but no result).
I realized the data or log directory may be filled up, so I checked and that was not the issue.
So I restarted the Server.
Now I am unable to see the login screen too and in SAP MMC dispatcher is yellow "Running but not connected to message server".
R3trans result is below
R3trans -d
2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = ADABAS D --- DBNAME = ''"
r3trans finished (0012)
I am new to MAXDB database.
I installed database manager and checked the data folder status and find there is enough free space but log directory is 100% so i created new volume for log directory (not sure if any thing else is required to activate it, asl its still showing log directory 100% usage).

Hello, we have a Mac and an ipad, the Mac is working and wifi is on and the ipad's wifi is on too, but Ipad Safari can not open the page because it could not connect to the server, does any one know that?
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
